It took 3 minutes and 30 seconds to get our order and then we placed it for two milkshakes. This then took a little longer than expected amount of time and the server name was Nate and he was an outstanding server. Above and beyond expected, but they were very busy it was around 7:45. I didn't see any employees standing around doing nothing. This establishment was rather pleasurable I would just mention that orders are kept in sequence of when they were placed and not the simplicity of the order it's self. Tip..when u r seated order your shakes. When u get shakes order food. Shakes take forever and food comes out quick, usually. If not u will get your shake after u have finished your meal. I usually get the Frisco melt platter whenever I eat at Steak n Shake. I must say the sandwich has gone downhill in recent years. The bread is supposed to be toasted, not burned. Also, I find they have started lacking on the amount of sauce on the sandwich which is my favorite part. Generally seems to be not cleaned well. Me and my mother go here every Saturday, and eat. The cash register wasn't working, so the manager offered to pay our bill! He's a very nice guy. There's only one problem, it's really small though. I've never really been dissatisfied with the food here, but the service can be hit-or-miss depending on how understaffed/overworked they are due to incompetent management. read more

The Steak 'n Shake in Muncie always has trash service, but on Friday they really out did themselves. I went there with my boyfriend, his brother, and his brothers girlfriend. When we walked in it was not very busy, maybe there were like 3 tables full. We were greeted by a nice young lady who told us that it may take a little longer because there is only one server. The people I was with and I are pretty understanding, so we said that's fine and sat down. A few minutes go by as we are looking at the menu, our server comes by. She looks stressed, but goes on to say "Be patient with me, it's only me today" and then asked my boyfriend what he wanted. My boyfriend was still looking over the menu a bit and as he was doing this, our server waved her hand in front of his face as if she was trying to rush him and telling him to "Come on" We all get our orders taken, but definitely felt rushed. She comes back not too long after and messed up all of our drink orders. Normally I would let this kind of simple mistake go, but the lady had already pissed me off by rushing my boyfriend and the rest of us. After this she brought us out our food and shakes, basically threw our silverware and napkins onto our table andd exclaimed again, "I'm the only one here" and "I'm about to scream" and then went on to the next table in a hurry. While we were finishing up our meals, she was no longer the only server. At this point in time 2 more servers had come in. But instead of checking on us and letting the other servers do the other tables, it seemed as if she was trying to avoid us. This went on for quite sometime. We were trying to get her attention and ask for some to go cups, but each time she bypassed our table. We had to ask a different server for the cups. Then when we went to pay, her attitude seemed to change, most likely for a tip. Of course, we didn't give her one. After that it seemed that her attitude changed back to annoyed again.
