The "broth" that was brought to my table appeared to be watered down taco grease and tasted as such! The tacos had a fair amount of meat, onions, and cilantro in the tortilla but these were a far cry from an authentic Birria taco. When I received my check I would discover a charge of $16.08 for a plate of Americanized tacos. Meat was dry and quite tasteless. If you're looking for a place that does not serve authentic Mexican food with higher than a giraffe's nuts pricing then this is your spot!!! I will not be a repeat customer.

Good selection of beers and drinks, too.

It's a fast food burger joint so I get exactly what I walk in expecting. I frequent this place around 3am, after getting off a long bar shift, and almost always have a server named Daylynn (sp?). She is one of the only reasons I bother coming in in lieu of a drive-thru or a sandwich at home. read more

The sandwich was perfect The tuna salad was delicious! The bread grilled perfectly, and the cheese melted through. This week, I chose the Charbroiled Chicken Sandwich with fries. Again, the sandwich was delicious! A standard GFS style chicken breast served on a perfectly toasted bun with a generous portion of tomato and lettuce. Both weeks the fresh cut fries were the perfect "fair style" fry: brown, not too salty, crispy outside, fluffy inside. Both weeks, the servers were delightful! Very accommodating! Very attentive despite them being overwhelmed with tables. My drinks weren't kept filled because of it, but they were refilled eventually both times. Now for the negatives: As others have mentioned; this place has an open seating plan. For a first timer, it's confusing to see where the seating is because as you walk in you walk into the bar, and the seating is off to each side, and is hard to see open tables. Secondly, this leads to an uneven dispersal of patrons and thus some waitresses seem to be overwhelmed while other's seemed to be standing around. Final assessment: The food is terrific! 5 stars! The service would be 5 stars if they worked out the kinks on their seating. 3 stars. The decor is dated. The pictures on the wall were from 20-25 years ago and were faded. It could use a little freshening up. But my chief complaint is the service times. My first trip took a little over 2 hours for a tuna melt and fries. The second trip took and hour and thirty-five minutes for a chicken sandwich. I stars for food and waitresses. Minus 2 stars for the wait times...

I'm sorry to say that after tonight's experience at the store located on Orion Dr. in Columbus/Westerville/Polaris, we Skyline Chili has lost customers of 30+ years. First of all we got there at about 8:00 pm with a group of 6. This was about 2 hours before store closing. After being told to sit anywhere, we waited almost 10 minutes before the two servers on the floor finished their conversation & finally looked over in our direction. Our server was polite & took our orders. Our grandson ordered French fries & we were told that their fryer was down (okay things like that happen), then two of us ordered iced tea. When the drinks were filled, we were told that there was only enough tea for 1 glass since it was close to closing time. (Okay so things run out). The final straw was when part of the table's order included 3 chillitos with cheese, which is my son's normal order. My son ate the 1st two without complaint. The third one was room temperature. My son asked if it could be reheated & we heard that cook tell our server that it couldn't be done because the cheese would melt, so they made another one. That one was cool to the touch (I'd call it room temperature). A manager came over & basically explained that was because the cheese had made it cold...keep in mind that this is my son's usual order, as I already mentioned. They offered to make another one, but cautioned us not expect it to be any warmer. My son told the manager that he would just take it home to reheat it since they were not able to do it. That same manager was the cashier who handled the transaction, then asked me how our dining experience had been! Yet never apologized because we weren't happy with our dinner! To sum it all up, the staff at this location didn't seem to want to be bothered with customers or customer satisfaction 2 hours before closing. Unfortunately this has soured us on every going back to any Skyline Chili restaurant again.

The dining room and the restroom were both clean, which I always appreciate. Our server, Liz, was the highlight of the visit. She was prompt, attentive, and refreshingly honest when I asked about menu substitutions. Instead of saying everything on the menu was great just to make a sale, she gave genuine recommendations, and I really appreciated that. She also stayed on top of our drinks, bringing refills before we ever had to ask. She checked on us several times throughout the meal without being intrusive. We ordered the Cookie Skillet for dessert, and she waited until we were actually finished eating before bringing it out so the ice cream wouldn't melt. It's those little details that make a difference. I started with the fresh garden salad, followed by the BB-style pizza with pepperoni and sausage. At first glance, it looked like sausage only because the pepperoni is layered under the cheese. The pizza was loaded with cheese and toppings, and the crust had a nice texture. The sauce leaned more savory than sweet. I personally prefer a sweeter pizza sauce, but it was still flavorful and enjoyable. We also shared the Carolina Gold chicken chunks, onion rings, and provolone wedges. The onion rings had a nice crispy coating and actually tasted like onions, which isn't always the case. The Carolina Gold chicken chunks were generously coated in the Carolina Gold sauce, but the chicken itself was pretty bland and mostly tasted like the sauce. I also think they could have been cooked just a little longer. The provolone wedges were hot, cheesy, and tasty--it's hard to mess those up, but they definitely hit the spot. The Cookie Skillet was the perfect way to end the meal. The cookie was served warm with crispy edges and a soft, gooey center filled with melted chocolate chips. It was topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate drizzle, and pecans. Even though I boxed up the rest of my meal to take home, I made sure to eat the cookie while it was still warm with the melting ice cream, and I'm glad I did. It was definitely my favorite part of the meal. One small observation: the restroom doors open inward, so if you've got a big back like me, getting out can be a little awkward. Thankfully, the restroom itself was very clean. Overall, I think the 614 Restaurant Week special is a great deal. Between the generous portions, comfortable atmosphere, clean restaurant, and exceptional service from Liz, I'd definitely come back. The food wasn't perfect, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5, but I'd absolutely recommend Beer Barrel Pizza & Grill if you're looking for a casual place where you can enjoy a good meal, have a conversation, and get a lot of food for the price.
