To all. This location has changed for the better if you have not been recently. New ownership I guess based on signage and they seemed to have finally come out of the covid doldrums they went thru. We eat takeout, burgers hot, buns fresh again, seem to be staffed well again. Am very glad as Steak and Shake has long been a favorite of mine and like many below in reviews they became problematic during and after Glad to have them back up to speed. read more

Don't even waste your time. The past year or so literally every single time I've been there, there's an issue. either The staffing is so short you wait 30+ minutes in line, or they screw up your order. A lot of times they're out of stuff like milk shake mix, cheese sauce for fries, fries, or the ice cream machine is broken. Not to mention when you do actually get decent service the food sucks, fries are so hard they're inedible and the burgers are so greasy you might as well be signing up for a heart attack. This is probably one of the coolest steak 'n shake i have been to. First thing I noticed was a breakfast menu when we were sat down. Also another thing i noticed, they are open 24/7. Down in Texas its not open 24/7 so i was glad this diner is open all day. Since i was craving breakfast i ordered the kids chocolate chip pancakes with a chocolate milk. Even though i ordered a small portion but i was satisfied and content with the meal. I knew i wouldn't finish the regular pancakes. The other day I went to Steak 'n Shake and paid $54.98 for the most horribly made food. We got 2 hotdogs, 3 cheese burgers, 4 things of fries, 4 Root beers, 1 sweet tea, 3 Oreo milkshakes, and 1 m&m milkshake. What we got was just speechless, we got 2 hotdogs with mustard smeared the outside of the bun, and then we tried our milkshakes and the were made with spoiled milk. So we went in to tell them and the said give us 45 minutes. Well we waited 45 minutes, we walk in and said hello is the milkshakes done? He told us it's been 15 minutes!! We said can we get a coupon to get free ones later on? He said yes. Tears off a old receipt and puts "4 free milkshakes Devin" So that is the worst milkshakes every. For extra taste, add the seasoning that is provided at the table. The burgers are juicy and have decent flavor. The patties are not that big, so if you eat a lot, order a burger with multiple patties and toppings. A lot of the meals are around $4, so everything here won't severely hurt your wallet. The staff are friendly and make sure everyone at the table has everything they need. I once came with a party of 20 after midnight. Even with only one cook and one server, the wait and service was not bad at all. The ambience is very much like a classic diner and it is kept very clean. We have been Steak and Shake customers for a very long time. The food is usually good, and if one visits in the daytime the service is fine. Late night is an exception to this however. Tonight we went with friends after enjoying a play at the local high school. The service was a little slow, as only one server appeared to be on duty at 10 PM on a Saturday night. We were not real thrilled by the service, and with only the one person waiting tables, it is a management problem. My wife and I returned home and settled in. Our friends however had to return to feed a family member who had not been able to join us. This sign is what greeted them, along with customers inside who had been waiting for their food for over an hour. Now one might expect an hour wait if the menu were Beef Wellington or Crispy Duck, but this is just burger and fries. Anyway, here's the sign. Not at all acceptable in a 24 hr restaurant. read more
