To start off, any time we come in here and Erica is our server, the experience is amazing. She's our favorite waitress and is always very fast and keeps checking up on us. Anytime we come in here and she's not here, it's awful. The restaurant is very understaffed, especially on a Friday night. It's not the waiter's fault, but the service is always insanely slow. I use the drive thru here often and everything has always been great in the past. Today I decided to dine inside and everything was mostly good. Me and my daughter ate here and we both ordered shakes. I ordered the salted caramel pretzel and her the white chocolate, both were very good. I will never understand why Steak N Shake does not offer stronger straws for milkshakes. I ordered a Frisco melt with a side of chili and my daughter a cheeseburger single with french fries. Highlights: Shakes were very good. However I wish I woulda went with my favorite which is the sugar cookie one that is seasonal. The waitress was very nice she stayed on top of our drinks refills, we were also drinking water. She also came back often to see if we needed anything. All the food tasted good. Lowlights: Only thing I would consider lowlights with the food was the size of my buger meat. I left about 40% of my bread on my plate because I did not have a burger to eat with it. The other low light I have is the cleanliness of the restaurant floor and bathroom. I will say the rest of the restaurant seem to be clean as far as where they prep the food and serve the drinks however the floor was visibly dirty and the same goes for the entire bathroom. Ok, let's face it, it's not 5 star food in the traditional sense. However, it is really good for fast food! The best part for me, is that the kids LOVE it, and I like it. Service has always been great. This last time was no exception. Crystal was great. Another big plus for the kids, they love the paper hats, cars and stickers in addition to the usual crayons. This keeps the kids entertained so i can actually eat a meal in peace:) On weekends a kids eat free with an $8 purchase. (each). They also have 'happy hour' from 2-4 (am and pm) where milkshakes are half price. All in all a great little family outing. read more

I don't have high hopes when I visit a Steak 'n Shake, and this one is one of those why I don't. There isn't anything remarkable about this location. It's not the worst, but it's not the best. I'm writing this review after my second visit here - our first visit was better, which is why we returned. Our party of four arrived right before the lunch rush, but there was nothing fast about lunch. Our service was slow - the server was friendly when we saw her. Two of us ordered Frisco melts, and there was more bread than anything. The bathrooms were gross, which really should have been my indicator to leave. This is the second experience of miserable food timing. The first incident was about a month ago where I ordered a shake with our meals. It took so damn long that we were finished eating and I had them take it off the bill. Today, my boyfriends food was served first and I was left waiting a very long time for my burger. He was finished and my food still had not arrived so I told the server to package it to go. I wanted to eat a meal WITH my significant other! Then I get home to find that we did not get the large order of fries and there was no bacon on my double bacon cheese burger. This place is a joke. 6 waitresses working and serving maybe 9 tables total. I sat at my table for 15 minutes before a drink order was taken. It's been 15 additional minutes and I'm still waiting for my drink. Food came out, but order was wrong and still no drink. I could almost understand if this was busy, but you barely have 2 tables per waitress. The entire experience thus far has been appalling. It's a shame that there isn't a zero star option. After I saw the guy at the grill WALK AWAY with NOTHING COOKING ON IT I gave up. Apparently, he'd made himself a burger and decided it was time to go eat. At least six families were still waiting for their food in the dining room and cars were lined up and waiting at the drive through. A lady at the counter said she'd been waiting for an hour and a half and was trying to find out when (if ever) they were going to get served. I travel from Tampa to Daytona on business very late at night about once a week. I was pressed for a place to eat and stopped at the S&S on Williamson. Your server, Michelle, was friendly, helpful and courteous despite being busy with many customers and the late hour (about 1am). She made everyone there feel like they were getting her full attention and I overheard several other customers making similar comments. If you had more like Michelle your restaurants would get far less negative comments about service. I will stop there whenever my business takes me back to Daytona and Michelle is the reason. It is worth going a bit out of my way for her cheerful smile and pleasant demeanor (in spite of the fact that I can get a discount right next door at Denny's). The staff here are right on point and very friendly. She even offered to go cups without us saying anything. Which In my opinion is thoughtful. The food was also on point. My husband, mother in law and I all had nothing to complain about as far as those things. I have developed an allergy to gluten. I get terribly sick if I have it. That said..After looking this place up online, they claimed to have gluten free choices so I make the drive there. Went through the drive through and just to be sure, I asked if their milkshakes were for sure gluten free. The girl said she did not know, didn't think so, and offered no other assistance! I ordered my boyfriend a peanut butter shake and I did without for fear of getting sick. She hands me his shake, still not apologizing or offering me anything and doesn't give us a receipt. I've always liked Steak n Shake as a kid but they all stut down in my area so I hadn't had it in years. I ordered the Original Single and my burger patty was sad and torn apart. Looked like a swiss cheese version of a burger patty. My shake was near a liquid state and not thick like a proper shake should be. Pretty disappointed with this Steak n Shake. This location offers great fast food if you are dining in the restaurant or if you are getting take out but don't live too far away. The customer service that is offered at this location is great (much better then the SnS on ISB). My most recent order arrived spot on (down to each detail). I appreciate that the food is cooked to order at Steak and Shake (unlike with other burger joints). The star goes out to the server, she was very friendly, however the food and the overall store was disgusting. The hot dog had a weird texture, the hamburger wasn't good at all. The tables were extremely dirty, had to store them off again myself. The restroom... Well, there are no words to describe that. You'd be better off in the bushes outside. I've stopped here before while traveling, it's always dirty, this time was exceptionally bad. Not to mention that both me and my son stayed feeling bad admit 30 mins after we left. While the cheap prices really can't be beat, their drive-thru service is AWFUL. It's not uncommon to wait for 10-15 minutes with one or zero cars in front of you.
