Very un-intelligent workers. They lie about custom orders because their inability to use the machine. Tried to get a root beer instead of a soda with an up-charge. Can't do it? Really? First fast food place I've been too that can't do it. Then proceeds to make me look like an idiot by saying that's a desert, not a drink. I just moved into the area and was extremely excited to once again be around steak and shake and so when I got off work late i looked online and found the closest steak and shake 25 minutes away and make sure they were open 24 hours. I drove all the way there only to find a piece of paper on the door with handwritten hours stating that they close at 11. Huge disappointment and completely unprofessional! I wanted to try this place out after seeing it and honestly I'm so disappointed. I got a number 2, with what we're supposed to be a medium cheese fry (because they don't offer a small) I got a small and a large Unsweet tea. I also got two kids Mac n cheese. I was treated so rude at the window. Then when I get home to eat my food (I only live 5 minutes away) I open my burger to not even a full patty! A green tomato, small weird cut in half pickles, and the mayo, mustard, and ketchup or lack there of wasn't barely on! Also, to top it off it was ice cold!! The cheese for the cheese fries, barely full I didn't even take a bite before taking the picture. I wish I hadn't at all though because they were disgusting! I'm so shocked, disgusted, and just flat out upset by this experience. You can guarantee I'll never be back. I hope this review makes you check your food or don't get what I got! My girl and I had been talking about trying this place and finally got around to it. Now I've had Steak 'n Shake before out of state and I have to say that this location here in Colorado is simply either a poor impostor or just living off the name alone. I simply do not understand the line wrapped around the building every time I drive by. For one, it's a mystery meal (we've only been once but from reading other reviews it seems to be a consistent thing) and what I mean by that is you order one thing and you get something else. We ordered a double meat cheeseburger sans onions and ended up with a triple burger with everything but the cheese. The shake we ordered which was supposed to be a peanut butter snickers type was bland and not at all like the delicious little candies on which it was supposed to be based. The staff don't seem very happy and the overall ambience is that of a road side diner in the middle of no where that you stop off on a long road trip simply because it's there and not because you really want to. The only thing being is that instead of being pleasantly surprised by the delicious greasy menu options you leave thoroughly disappointed and left wanting something else. Worst experience of my life. I went last night and it took them about 15 minutes to even seat my friend and I. Another 20 minutes to get menus and then a long time to put our order in. After we ordered, the food came out about 1 hour later and the shake came out even later than that! Like how the fuck does it take so long for a shake..... after we were done we waited for someone to ring us up we stood for about 15 minutes and one guy who was literally doing NOTHING kept giving my friend and I a stupid look like we were aliens or something. Upon being seated the hostess took a wet rag and dipped it into a red bucket full of what I imagine was dirty water and wiped our table with a dirty wet rag and had us sit on a wet table and wet chairs. I asked for a napkin to dry off the table. Then took out my disinfectant wipes . I order grilled cheese! The safer choice . My son ordered the butter burger and the very berry strawberry shake. Stopped by here for the 3rd time thinking a third times a charm. Well once again I was incredibly disappointed. Nothing worse than waiting in the drive through for 37 minutes for 4 cars ahead of you. I get you may cook to order but than don't have a drive through and trap people inside of it where they can't leave. Only reason I'm leaving 2 stars is because the food is okay. Luckily for this establishment, the food tastes great. However, I am very disappointed the last couple times we've been and tonight set me off. Waited in line for a good chunk of time,WITH THE TRASH STREWN EVERYWHERE (Not a good impression especially when employees are walking past it to smoke BY THE DUMPSTER)) to get soggy onion rings and a drop of ranch in a cup. My teenage son and husband were dying for a shake and a burger so we stopped in on a busy Sunday. First and foremost.... the shakes were absolutely delicious! The burgers and fries were just fine. I opted for the chicken sandwich with jalapenos and fried onions which was a-ok. I was not overly impressed with the quality of the food but the shakes and atmosphere were pure 1950's diner. Our server was friendly and efficient so no issues there. If you want a burger served in a fifty's diner with a creamy milk shake you should give this place a try. read more

I came in tonight craving a burger and onion rings I haven't been here for a while. I had a really wonderful waitress and she catered to my every need I ordered a mint chocolate chip shake and a double garlic steak burger with portabella mushrooms and onion rings when My milkshake came out it was so sick I couldn't even suck it through the straw. My cheeks are going to implode so I talk to the waitress about that and she brought it to the kitchen and they fixed it for me. My food came out and it was very delicious to the last bite something was mysteriously wrong with the mushrooms it kinda tasted funky I went to talk to the manager we figured out what was wrong and that issue was resolved. There are a few new employees and Hair that are being trained to all the guidelines and procedures Stephanie the manager took care of my bill so I don't have to worry about any of the inconvenience that this has caused me. Ok so this was my first Steak and Shake trip and it is good. However, I have to say that I immediately compared it to In-N-Out as that is the same type of feel...and it really couldn't match up (mostly in the food). The burger you get is just meh but did like the fact you could choose different shakes other than the normal choc, vanilla and strawberry. This was my first time there...wow it's nuts in there! Super busy! The managers and the employees take it all in stride. Everyone had a smile on their face and tried to help you as quick as possible. The worst thing about this place was how rude a lot of the customers were. It was busy...you are probably gonna have to wait. That's just the way it is. Just because you want it RIGHT NOW doesn't mean they can make it faster. Total shout out to Sean (cashier/server) who kept calm and stayed really nice when I don't think I could have with that jerk yelling at me. Big bonus Sean called me Miss instead of Ma'am!! Been to a number of Steak and Shakes. Without a doubt worst experience ever. Started with the manager telling me that although I was in line before 5, since it was 5 I couldn't get the happy hour price on Shakes. Then as I'm ordering, he tells me there are no Egg Nog shakes. I get to the window and although the order is for 3 people and cost $17.98, they hand me a kids meal that included a burger and applesauce and then come back to the window and say, "is there a problem, You got all of your food" After all of that although I ordered 2 large fries I get one large and one small and both were half filled and the fries were cold and to top it all off, I ordered a Bacon Double Cheeseburger and I get home to find that I didn't receive Bacon at all. I came here for the first time because I had some time to kill before I went out for trivia. I got there at a non peak time so it wasn't busy. I was seated quickly and was helped pretty fast too. I got a burger, fries, and a shake. The food was just what I was hoping for. A bit greasy, yet very flavorful. The fries were cooked to perfection and the strawberry shake was heavenly. This is my second time here, the first time I thought I just came at a busy lunch hour. This time I came about 3:30 after the rush. Sure enough the service is just as bad if not worst!! I seriously was about to go through the drive thru , order my food then come in and eat. It took them about 10 minutes to acknowledge we were even at the table. When the server came to take my order she pretty much tried to convince me into not ordering a milkshake (main reason I came here) because they are backed up and it would be 15mins or longer. It ended up coming out in about 7 min, glad I didn't listen to her. The environment is messy, the staff is all over the place and the service is extremely slow. Other than that the shake was great! The burger was delicious and the bill was cheap! Probably won't be back though unless it's a visit through the drive thru. read more

The food was really good. That's where the goodness stopped. Our server messed up the order not once, but three times. She added on an extra shake, got the side by side shake wrong, and entered in the wrong burger. We waited for what seemed to be a long time for our food to come out, and then upon realizing we received the wrong meal, she took it back and we had another long wait. The servers were far and few between and at one point all of the servers were inside the kitchen so when we wanted a to go cup, they weren't even around to ask. The line started to go out the door and no one was helping customers. Eventually I went up to pay the tab and still there I waited for five minutes while watching multiple servers look at me and go to the kitchen. I told them about the mistakes on the order and I don't think she changed it properly, but she didn't confirm that she had heard what I said nor did she give me an itemized receipt so who knows what I even paid for. Worst service I've ever had at any fast food restaurant in my life. I've come to this place 4 times within the last 2 months around 1-2am from getting off work super late, and even though their hours say open 24 hours, each time I've come they were already closed. They close at different times every single night. During the day I've come a couple times and the food was terrible. Fries were super soggy and wet, burgers undercooked, and I even got the wrong drink a couple times. Not to mention the wait times. Every time I've come through the drive thru we've had to wait 30-45 minutes for our food with only 2 or 3 cars in front of us, even though they had like 6 people working inside. Had an awesome time here today! Our server was Sandy, and I think that had a lot to do with how well our visit went. My partner and I both had delicious burgers, and the fries were really good. We did have to wait about ten minutes for our food, but it was pretty busy because of the lunch rush. Sandy made sure that our food order was correct and that we were satisfied. I grew up on Steak and Shake. Hell, My Mother and Father grew up on Steak and Shake. I'm 66 years old and still love them. My personal favorite is the "Chili 5 ways" and always has been. - I was thrilled to see one open in Greely and my Wife and I ran up there for lunch one day. My God! There were nearly 300 people waiting in line to get in and the dining room was full - now THAT was a first for us. We left but came back during the week and got right in. - We both had the usual (Chili 5 ways and she had a steak burger and a shake). Shake for me as well.The service was fine and the food hot. No complaints. Typical Steak and Shake food! We have since been back on two other occasions and no complaints for either. read more

I went here with my son a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. It's not fancy food, but the prices can't be beat and the food is decent. A burger and fries was $4.00. If you want super-sized globs of food, you'll pay more, but not much more. We've been to this location three times, and the service and food have been consistent all three times.
