Welp, where do I begin. The non-greeting as my son and I walked in or the staff completely goofing off while the dining room was trashed by prior customers or the fact that once we placed our order for 2 garlic burger combos with vanilla shakes we waited for 25 minutes for us to get our order. This place lacks professionalism and leadership and it is obvious the second you walk in. I would say next time I come, but honestly there wont be a next time. With In & Out or 5 guys Im not sure how this place is even open now. We came here today to try the new change with their tallow. It was really good and the burgers and fries were great! I thought their drink system was interesting though where you had to scan a barcode to get a refill but otherwise our experience was great. Faith the gal walking around helping everyone was amazing and helped us with so much!! She was an absolute sweetheart and made sure everything was perfect for you. This isn't the Steak and Shake I grew up with in the South. This location is a shadow of what I hoped for. No wait staff, no cashier, no "how ya doin' honey, welcome to Steak and Shake what can I get started for you?" It's order by kiosk, no chocolate malts available, no sundaes in tall glass glasses. You have to scan a QR code to get the coke dispenser to work. I came for the beef tallow fries and a great cheeseburger and a chocolate malt down memory lane. I got a thin burger, not enough time in the grill for a Maillard char in the beef, and a chocolate shake in a styrofoam cup. The restaurant was set to sub-60 degrees Fahrenheit, maybe to cool down the cooks working the grill but the dining room is an icebox. $7 for a mediocre shake when you have a malt on the mind...you get the idea. I guess I need to be back in Central Florida for a real Steak 'n Shake experience. Not the spot I hoped to relive bygone days with my folks. read more

I recently moved to the area. Steak 'n Shake was nearby and on those first few move in days, it was a life saver for something quick and easy. The first day we ordered to go. There were no issues; however, I did forget to order dipping sauces and when I had to reorder on the kiosk, I struggled to find them on the menu but a few team members helped and alas dipping sauce crisis averted. On our second trip to Steak 'n Shake, we ordered to go probably about 30 minutes before closing. We were the only people in the establishment. Unfortunately, they made our order and set it aside for either Uber Eats/Door Dash. The employees basically asked us what we were doing there not realizing the order that had been sitting there for the better part of 15 minutes. The staff realized their mistake and asked if we wanted it remade. In my mind, I mean, like obviously. They quickly remade the order and offered us a complimentary shake as a result. Now, the food was far better on our first trip and despite the second order being remade fresh, it was subpar at best. Lastly, it is fairly clean but the floors were streaky and sticky. read more

This place is a mess. There was no ice for the drinks so the soft drinks were undrinkable. You have to scan a QR code to get drinks?! Also the kethchup and lots of other things were empty. I have not been here in years. Since my kids were children really. It hasn't changed minus it's a bit dirtier now. Especially the bathrooms. The service is cold as you order via a kiosk then they simply yell your name out when it's ready. Then you go up and get it. Yet, there is still a "tipping" selection when you order. This makes absolutely no sense to me. My new rule is that if I order standing then have to get the food myself, I don't tip. Ever... The food was over priced and it's still "kids" food in my opinion. An adult would never really be satisfied on even their triple burger. We spent 31 dollars on lunch and left feeling a bit cheated. I had wanted to experience some of the good ole burger and malt shop ambiance that S&S used to have. I go back to college days in Gainesville, FL when they would take your order, and you could even sit at the counter and watch the cook smash patties, cook eggs, and the blenderista make shakes and malts one at a time by hand. The last time I had this was only a couple years ago here in Denver, and I went back for another. But was sorely disappointed. Although the place was open, once inside there was a din, that replaced the usual lively atmosphere of waitstaff interacting with customers at tables. I went to grab a seat at the counter, but there were no seats, instead kiosks to place my own order by myself. I was told to place my order by the cook. Wow! What great service. So I worked through the menus, placed my order and took a seat, when after a few minutes I was called back to the counter to pick up my order. I'm not sure why I was prompted to leave a tip when I was expected to place my own order, serve my own food, and even go to a corner of the store to pick up condiments and napkins. About 5 minutes later my milkshake arrived. The food was okay, the shake was good. I miss the ambiance, and experience of sitting at the counter, interacting, and watching the cook and others doing their thing. Some may think that the food being ok and the friendliness of the staff should bring this rating to a 3 but when you cant cover the basics of a clean eating area you will never get a 3 or higher. My wife and I stopped in for a late lunch on Sunday afternoon and we were not impressed. Steak'n'Shake has gone out of their way to not hire workers here. At the counter they've lined up self service screens for ordering. No one greets you, no one takes your order. As best I could tell, only two workers were busy cooking food, with no other employees in sight. When trying to find a place to sit, there wasn't a clean table in the place. Crumbs and drink stains on every table, crumbs on the floor, and the self serve drink station was a mess. The bathrooms needed attention too. I drove 45 minutes across town, because I missed having steak and shake. What an absolute dump. The inside is actually nasty. I could tell by looking at the floor it hadn't been swept or mopped in days maybe weeks. There's even stains all over the blinds. The burgers are nothing like you remembered. Ordered cheeseburger and fries to go. I appreciate how nicely packed this was to go. The lettuce, tomatoes and other condiments were placed separately so my burger and patty did not get soggy. I also really like that nothing was too oily or greasy. Not even the fries! The fries were too thin for my liking but I do appreciate the crisp. I also think it would have been better fresh. The burger though was much better than a McDonald's or even Five Guys. The buns were soft, the patty was big, tender and juicy. Sheridan, CO location In February 2025 i came to Steak and Shake for the first time. I watched T. T Tammy on You Tube with her Muckbang and it really seemed like a good place to try. I ordered the things Tammy ordered because she raved about them. I kept saying the whole time to my husband, Tammy's food Looked so good, this stuff does not resemble hers at all.? And it did not taste good. I was disappointed in the food. In addition the tables were unclean, the floor unclean, we were the only customers inside the place. There were two young men in the kitchen. I do not believe i will return. it was a long drive to get there and the food was not worth the trip or the money.
