French fries and onion rings were good Burgers were obnoxiously thin Buns were small Both burgers were made incorrectly (missing ingredients) They have a system that makes you scan a bar code to enable the drink dispenser. I sat down and started eating, then got up to get my drink. It would not work. Turns out that I missed the timer from when I made the purchase to when I got the drink. So they had to issue me another bar code. Who ever devised this drink system missed the mark completely. Unless your customers are drinking 500 kegs of soda each sitting, I doubt that is a wise area of profit concern considering the cost to the restaurant. been using this location for four years and never had an issue. Tonight we ordered the original double steak burger with cheese times three and they were subpar and not the usual burgers. The buns were different. The taste was different. It was just blah. And the fries were totally different. Not the usual stick fries they have but mushy fatter ones. This location used to have wait staff. They are moving with the times with a kiosk you order at, and quick self serve dining. Milkshakes are given out by their staff in glass glasses. We had to wait abit for our food, but food was awesome. The manager on duty was really ontop of his game. He was so kind and friendly. It made us feel like we were at home. It's Steak and Shake, usually known for good food and decent service. I opted for the weekly special $4 double Steakburger and small classic shake, add fries $1...which I did. Girlfriend chose the mushroom Steakburger and was happy with her choice. My double Steakburger was really good, shoestring fries meh I'm not a big fan of them but these were good. Overall our lunch bill came to just over $11. Put a total of 13.41 on my Steak-n-Shake app (remaining balance from when Charleston, SC had a restaurant) and out the door within 40 minutes to continue Christmas Eve shopping. Not sure what's going on with the franchise but I've seen three stores closed in the past several weeks, two in FL and one in SC. The Steak and Shakes that I've gone to so far are heartbreaking I ordered a side-by-side banana chocolate malt milkshake and they told me they don't have malt that they discontinued it. And they no longer do side by side milkshakes. I used to like Steak n Shake when I lived here 10+ years ago. It tasted like pretty legitimate diner fare. But I'm having it again for the first time in years, and the quality reminds me of a Wendy's. The burger was not juicy, the bread was airy and tasteless, and it was pretty much a floppy mess of burger. The Oreo Shake was also WAY too sweet (milkshakes and Oreos are inherently very sweet, but for some reason this was still sweeter than any Oreo Shake I've ever had). It was overkill for me. Every time I get a Wisconsin butter steak burger, the burger is delicious but I almost never expect nice hot and fresh French fries. I already know I'll get cold fries. SPRING HILL, Fla. - Steak 'n Shake is famous for its steak burgers and hand-dipped milk shakes, but one location had to stop serving all that famous food for 24 hours last week. In a special Dirty Dining report, we uncovered that on June 14, inspectors shut down Steak 'n Shake at 4305 Commercial Way in Spring Hill after seeing live roaches on the cook's line, under the grill, near the warm holding drawers and at the drive-thru area. Other serious violations found include black/green mold-like substance on and around the soda dispensing nozzles and old food debris and grease on the grill, cooks line, hood filters, under shelving at the drive thru area, at the ice cream station, on the syrup jugs, candy containers, soda machine, front counter, and more grease accumulated on the kitchen floor and under the cooking and kitchen equipment on the cook's line and at the waiter's station. And just four months ago, inspectors discovered Chili not properly cooled and at a dangerous temperature in the freezer. And in the cooler, the state found shredded cheese at 47 degrees and cut tomatoes at 47 degrees when all cold food should be 41 degrees Fahrenheit or below. On February 22, inspectors also documented other violations: the dish-machine not sanitizing dishes properly and required Steak 'n Shake to begin manually washing dishes until it was fixed. They saw a cook failing to wash his hands and repeat issues of food debris/dust/grease/soil residue on the reach-in cooler/refrigerator, walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer shelves, break room, ice cream station, drive-thru area, on the kitchen floor and under cooking equipment. ABC Action News anchor Wendy Ryan spoke to Steak 'n Shake's manager, Erin but he had no comment and told her to call the corporate office. Great flavor and a good value. The burgers are on the smaller side, but it just gives you more room for a shake. Although our waitress (Amber) was great, they definitely need more help here. Tables were left dirty all around us and customers were having to wait awhile just to be seated. Update... we've been back a couple more times & are done going in! We waited maybe 10-15 minutes to sit down, but I noticed that they were understaffed so we just let it slide. As soon as we sat down we were served quickly, and our food was out not long after we ordered. Our waitress was nice and our food was good. I only give four stars because I think something needs to be done about the lack of staff, our waitress was kind and attentive but I noticed she was flustered. Since I've worked in a restaurant I understand the pressure she must've been under, trying to check each table (she seemed to be the only one working) and trying to keep customers happy.
