I brought a longtime family friend here for dinner, and to my surprise she suggested sushi. Well, when a lady says sushi, it's game on! The atmosphere was relaxing, comfortable, and perfect for catching up over good food and conversation. She ordered the drink special, which I believe was a Cherry Chocolate Martini, and it looked every bit as good as she said it tasted. We started with the Coconut Shrimp, and that turned out to be an excellent choice. Light, crispy, and full of flavor. Before we shared sushi rolls, I had to order the Flying Red Fish. I was hoping to find Ikura on the menu, but this was the next best thing and it definitely satisfied my craving. For our rolls, we shared the Rock N Roll, which was absolutely delicious. Fresh ingredients, great presentation, and the kind of sushi that keeps you reaching for another piece even when you're already full. What made the evening special wasn't just the food--it was the opportunity to reconnect with a good friend over a great meal in a welcoming atmosphere. My wife (gf at the time) and I have been coming here since they opened years ago. I've also brought family here when they visited from overseas, though almost always for the steak stone and sushi. This time though, we both decided to go for the hibachi. The staff was friendly and attentive. The hibachi was not very good. I wish they had more than Sriracha for a hot sauce. The hibachi chicken was also very sweet. Overall, we both definitely would not do the hibachi again, even if it were priced cheaper. Overall, all menu items were priced much higher, but this is common amongst restaurants nowadays and in this economy. Would we come back? If we were really craving the experience of cooking a steak on one of their stones. The prices are high enough to where we are now considering going here as we are paying a rather high amount to cook our own steak. read more

This place is a very nice classy place. The food is very good. I have had their miso soup which is very nice, their see weed salad rich is very flavorful, and their avocado sushi that is so creamy. They have a lot of vegetarian options available. They have good service but not supper fast. Their service is friendly and kind though very helpful. We decided to check out a new sushi and Thai place and found Steak Stone & Sushi. When entering it looked more to me like a neighborhood bar & grill where you'd expect burger & fries. We ordered a couple of sushi rolls. The eel & avacodo (one of my favorites) and a spicy snow crab roll. The eel was ok but the spices crac had mo spice. Neither made me want to order more. I then ordered the chicken pad thai (another favorite) and my husband ordered the shrimp upon in soup. His bowl was huge & he gobbled it all down. My pad thai was also huge & loaded with tender pieces of chicken and was perfectly balanced with the sauce, peanuts, and sprouts. A takeout container was definitely needed. Service was good and the place looked clean. Plenty of tables and booths both near the bar & in the dining area. Really good sushi and other Asian specialties, such as fried rice, pad Thai and their hot stone steaks which you cook at your table. Food is of good quality and service is friendly and efficient. I don't drink much, but there are always at least a few folks seated at the bar enjoying a beverage and food. Nice and welcoming atmosphere. Daughter and I were on the go today, running errands and had an appointment in the Lockport area. We were in the mood for some sushi rolls without a sit down dining experience. We Yelped and were lucky to find a lunch special right up our alley. We ordered the 3 roll sushi offering from the lunch menu - $13.49 before tax for pick up. Eighteen rolls all together: spicy snow crab, spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. Quite tasty and fresh. Good value. Not spicy at all though. That would be my only complaint. They made sure to hold the avocado in my rolls as I'm allergic to avocado. If in the Lockport area and I have more time, I'd stop back to try the hot lava stone steak. That sounds really good. Food is generally good whenever i order. I was disappointed when i ordered Shumai i was charged for regular Sashimi. There is a considerable price difference. I called my oder in, the server, or receptionist took my order and hung up. I had to call back to get an estimated time for pick up, she never checked the order to make sure it was taken correctly, or gave me a total. FOOD: In another review, it was stated that Lockport doesn't have many sushi/Asian restaurants. The food was indeed average, nothing to write home about. It was just okay. The hot food was lukewarm by the time it was delivered and that factored into the "okay-ness". SERVICE: Slow service and slower service after placing an order. The restaurant was not packed and it was dinner time. The water glasses often stayed empty and the waitress had to be tracked down for the bill after the delivery of the food. In conclusion, I will be choosing a different restaurant for future visits to Lockport but I wouldn't try to deter someone from going there if they wanted to try it. read more

We originally wanted to go somewhere else, but the wait was too long so we came here instead and I am so glad we did! The food was delicious and came out so fast! I ordered a sushi entree and my boyfriend ordered the chicken teriyaki. My sushi was delicious, but I did have a fish bone in one of the pieces (seriously not a problem though.) I'm a fan of the location in the falls but have never been to this one until recently. This location is smaller but still really nice! I like the vibes of this place. It's casual but not too casual. Another thing is they have amazing drinks and often have seasonal drinks. My favorite are their sushi rolls especially the spicy crab and california rolls. Prices are decent and not overly expensive. As possibly the only one or one of very few Asian/Sushi restaurants in the Town/City of Lockport, this one is just average in my opinion. As far as the sushi goes, I've had better. The spicy snow crab roll has way too much "sauce"on it. This should be drizzled on or spotted on the plate to accompany the roll. The California roll was standard. I've had the steak pad Thai and shrimp pad Thai on two separate occasions and it was mediocre. It was not very plentiful at all on the protein. I asked for it spicy on both occasions and it lacked spice so I had to ask for Sriracha on the side. As far as the cocktails are concerned, the establishment uses Barton's vodka for their specialty martinis, which in my opinion is bottom of the barrel quality vodka. I had the Blueberry Martini and it tasted like straight up blue Kool-aid! I found myself laughing as I took a second sip as it took me back for a minute! I ordered a glass of Pinot Noir next and it too was very distasteful. The service is underwhelming. Our waitress was just OK; just basically trying to get through the shift with the bare minimum and no expression or personality. I haven't tried their hibachi entrees or their stone entrees. So my first time at this location. They may have been short staff that evening because to take our order... took forever but we started with veggie spring rolls, & avocado cucumber rolls so good! And the sauce they put on the side oh wow!! I ordered a chicken Thai which was a lot of food that I was able to eat some for lunch the following day. That's always a plus! My husband and I went here for our first time to celebrate a special occasion. I told our waitress Tara it was our first time, she did not offer any menu suggestions, she was very rude. She spent most of her time behind the bar talking which resulted in us waiting 20min for her to take our order. We ended up trying the strips on the stone. We found it to be a little bland. The music was good. If you decide to dine here for the first time, make sure to let the host know you do not want Tara to be your server. I don't think we will ever return. read more

Steak, Stone and Sushi has a great variety of food and something for everyone. I love to go for lunch and get the bento box. You can choose from chicken (10.99), shrimp, salmon or steak (11.99 each) and they come with a salad or soup. I have enjoyed all four. Today I went with the salmon and a salad with their house made ginger dressing. The salad was crisp and fresh and their ginger dressing is my favorite! I could drink shots of it haha. The sauce on the salmon, however, seemed a bit off... it was a bit thinner and less flavorful that it normally is. I have also had the steak that you cook exactly to your liking on a hot stone and several different types of sushi; all of which I really enjoyed. I would recommend you check them out! I came here with my husband for our Anniversary. We had a reservation that we'd made earlier that afternoon. When we arrived, they apologised and said that they'd just given our table away because they thought we'd cancelled the reservation. They thought this because it was crossed off on their list. They showed it to us to verify their claim, but our last name was underlined, not crossed off. We waited another 15 minutes before we were finally seated. It was really incompetent of them. The table was clean and our drink order was taken right away. I got a peach sangria and, later on, a passionfruit mojito. Both of these were fantastic. I ordered two types of sushi rolls, one eel and avocado, the other with a ton of different fish. The only problem? It was deep fried and therefore had gluten in it. I am allergic to gluten. My husband ended up eating this for me and I ordered a different roll. My husband also ordered the surf and turf dish cooked on a stone. This was kind of a paltry offering because the steak was wee and he got two shrimp. It was cool to watch it cook, but my husband was disappointed otherwise. The food I was able to eat was pretty yummy. Our waitress was nice, polite and attentive. The meal cost a lot more than we were expecting because of the sushi roll snafu I made. This wasn't the restaurant's fault though. Overall I liked it here, but I would suggest to everyone to just get the Japanese items on the menu because that's what they do best. read more

Bumping this place up to 5 stars because they consistently make the best Philly rolls, my favorite. They never skimp on any of the ingredients. I have noticed that the rock shrimp seems more mild now, like the newer location, so it's more kid friendly than rock shrimp at other places. Personally I prefer a little more heat, but it's a nice change of pace. The calamari has been perfect both times I've had it. Never overcooked and rubbery. Generous serving sizes of both appetizers. They have fun specialty drinks. Today I had a Grinch-tini. It's a simple blend of Godiva chocolate liquor and creme de menthe with red and green sparkles along the rim and whipped cream. Very good. They also have a variety of desserts including cheesecake, fried cheesecake, and fried vanilla or green tea ice cream. Kids' meals include chicken tenders, teriyaki chicken, and teriyaki steak with a choice of sides (rice, fries, or potato.) If you don't like sushi, they also have kitchen dinners and meals you can cook yourself on a heated stone for a unique experience. After sitting for over 20 minutes and watching people who were seated after us receive drinks and appetizers i walked back to the hostess station and waited a couple minutes to be recognized I asked who our server was supposed to be as we were waiting over 20 minutes. She said I told her she must have not heard me I will get her. A waitress came by and said have you been helped yet I said no we have not she mumbled something and walked away. Another lady with black curly hair came to the table and said have you been wating long we told her yes over 20 min. She said sorry about that i can give you a free dessert i said no im diabetic and cant have dessert she said well we will come up with something and walked away. Never saw her again not even sure who she was. Finally a server came over and said how are you doing I responded ok how about yourself she said awesome I said well after almost 30 min of waiting were not but glad you are. She said sorry for that and asked what we wanted to drink. We said we were going to order everything as we have been wait forever. Our drinks were brought by someone else. Our appetizer was brought out and nothing said by the server. She had every opportunity to turn the situation around and did not. When she dropped the appetizer my girlfriends drink was empty and nothing was said she dropped the appetizer and left. She finally came back with the entrees. Dropped them and said oh would you like a pop and my girlfriend said no id like another drink. She rudely walked away. We had to flag down another girl in a red jacket to get butter and steak sauce because our waitress was nowhere to be found. She finally came back with the drink set it down and walked away. Didn't ask do you need anything else didn't ask can I guide you on cooking your foid nothing at all. Awhile later she walked by asked if I needed a box as I was still eating I said no I'm good I'm still eating she came back with a box and the check. Didn't ask if we wanted anything else at all. I paid the bill and left. This was the worst dining experience ever in my life. Phenomenal! I took my boyfriend to the sushi making and sake tasting class as a surprise for his birthday last week. We had such a wonderful time it could not have been better! It was about 2 hours and 15 minutes, and we got to make and take home more sushi than we know what to do with.. and we can EAT sushi! We also received I believe 6 different types of sake during the class, which was very fun. I didn't know there was so many different kinds. I also have to give Kudos to the chef and teacher, Johnny. He was very fun and interactive, and for each of the rolls he brought one of us up to the front to make it with him in front of the rest of the class. It was very fun and we had lots of laughs. You also each get to take home a HUGE container of nori, a rolling mat, bottle of rice vinegar, and wasabi paste. Before I booked I was unsure if we should do it because of the cost ($60 a person,) but it is 110% worth it. With the supplies, sushi, sake, and experience combined it's definitely worth WAY more. My go to place for sushi but I am so appalled by I service I received today I might not ever come back. I try plenty of rolls but the ones I get the most are the rainbows roll and the super tuna roll. Went there today for lunch with my mother and ordered the rainbow and super tuna roll per the usual but when I received the rolls they would much smaller than normal. They looked like mini or tiny rolls, half the size I am normally used to. So I mentioned this to the waiter and he told the chef, he came back and he told me the chef said no that's the normal size, then I asked if there was manager or supervisor working, he said the chef was the manager so I asked again for him to get the manger. He never got the manager so I asked a witness walking by if her could. Finally the manager comes and walks up to the table and very rudely asks well so you want me to make then again while taking the plates then walks off with a whole attitude. Then I see him talking to another worker while staring at me and mom and whispering, then yells across the restaurant "what? You don't want them anymore?" So I reply no, you can just take it off the bill. Later the waiter comes back and apologizes for that, and says how he could do anything because that is the owner, come to find out.
