OMG, it was absolutely divine. Be forewarned, pricey, but divine. The first thing our wonderful server, Leslie, brought out to us were our drinks. Mine was a perfectly delicious Blueberry Martini with a perfectly outrageous bubble atop it that so stunned us that, once we found our voices again, we couldn't stop talking about it. (Blew was right! See photo for this amazement.) (The Blood Orange Old Fashioned wasn't "half bad" either...) We ordered the salad special: oh, and it was! Not sure I have this all straight, but it included peach and blueberries, along with candied walnuts (a generous amount!) with a peach vinaigrette on the interestingly slightly wilty greens. Wonderful. The Miso-glazed Black Cod was melt-in-your-mouth. The Game of the Night was Elk. It was splendid (medium rare, so delicious, tender, not gamey). The roasted veg accompanying was very nice as was the stuffed baked potato. The fries were, hands down, the best we have ever had. I ended up eating them without dipping them in anything (and I am certain their aioli was a thing of wonder). Leslie steered us to beautiful wines. Sweetly (pun intended, but true) they gave us a birthday treat of Crème Brûlée--you had to smack hard with your spoon to crack the top--just the way I love it! It was an over-the-top occasion for us--and this was the perfect over-the-top place to celebrate. We loved Leslie. She was so patient and accommodating, and all her recommendations were perfect. We got to meet the owner, Steve--a really nice guy and committed to create a fabulous experience in a beautiful place. Wonderful birthday; wonderful night...couldn't ask for anything different. Freshly renovated. Reportedly spent $2M. It looks great inside. The bar is now downstairs and looks like a steakhouse bar! (Hooray). Very comfortable. Friendly, smiling greeting immediately upon entering. Choice of tables. The French dip fresh, well seasoned and tasty. Caesar salad was crisp with delicious dressing. I would order again. While on vacation in Bellingham (July 2026), we ate at Dirty Dan's twice. On night one, the special was a flatiron steak and prawns. Fantastic! Probably the best steak I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Cooked perfectly, juicy, tender. Had a light sauce drizzled over it that was flavorful, but not overbearing. Not a tangy sauce, a lightly salted brown sauce. It added to the steak, didn't cover up the steak flavor. Mashed potatoes and vegetables were great. Steak was so good, we came back a second night. Wife got the flatiron steak again.....and it was just as good. I got the aged ribeye and it was very good. Usually ribeyes are my favorite, but I have to say the flatiron stole the show. Service was great. Ambience was great. We will definitely be back to Bellingham to escape the Vegas heat and we'll definitely be eating at Dirty Dan's when we do. read more

I am hesitant to go back to Dirty Dan's after the last ownership did such a lousy job. ABOUT A YEAR BEFORE THE FIRE I and a bunch of friends went for a special occasion. I ordered lobster. As it arrived you could smell it had gone bad from the time it left the kitchen and filled the area with the smell of turned lobster broiled. So we tried again and they sent the same bad product out. It was as if fhe crew had no clue what lobster was supposed to smell and taste like. We complained to very little in the way of apology and never went bwck again. If this had been a one off fine, but on other occsssions they also did not know how to cook a steak to the donenesss requested. For years, from pasta to seafood to meat, DD was a mediocre restaurant. To call it beloved was farsical for the last 10 years of its existance. I hope the new management has hired all new staff who know how to cook and serve, but there are several much better restaurants in Fairhaven now then DD. read more

The restaurant encompasses an old fashion ambiance that makes you feel as if you stepped back in time when you walk in. I love this place..I know it seems antiquated when you walk thru the door but that is one of the things that makes it appealing. The other is the incredible food. Filet Mignon like no other, and that football size baked potato.Damn! Service is always friendly and attentive and you leave feeling well taken care of. I came on a Thursday evening and the place was about 25 percent full. After being seated, we were promptly provided water and bread. I ordered a beef stew and prime rib. I thought that the flavor in both dishes were fantastic. However, I found them to be a bit too salty. For the rest of the evening, I was constantly thirsty. read more

Came to Bellingham for a hockey tournament and had $150 gift certificate from a few years ago that was gifted to me. I live 5 hours away so don't come to town often. Sat down ordered steaks expecting them to be outstanding for the $60 price tag that came along with it. All three people in our party ordered steaks medium and when they were delivered they ranged from raw to well done. When we tried to use the gift card, they said that there is a new owner and they aren't excepting the gift cards anymore. Having been in the business of selling steaks and sea food for 44 years and carrying the name of a historical "rum-runner" we have been eager to try this steakhouse. The stars aligned for us to go this year for my SO's birthday. From reading the reviews, we decided reservations were the way to go and ended up being very glad we'd gone that route. Abandoning our planned walk around Fairhaven early due to the cold, we arrived right when they opened at 5 PM. We were met with freshly polished brass in a cozy, warm restaurant. We started with a drink at the bar. By 5:15 the bar had filled up! We went downstairs for our table and found the dining area filling up as well. Service was impeccable and the steak was tender and cooked perfectly to order. Our one issue was that we paid $9 for the crab as a side and it arrived as very small topping to the steak. It was very delicious and high quality. We probably won't get again. split the calamari appetizer and it was wonderful. My pasta was a rich cheesy carby delight. They brought out our creme brûlée with a candle (they had asked at the beginning if we were there for a special event) It had that nice hard layer on top. We had a great experience here! My husband has been on the hunt for a decent prime rib all year, and he's definitely found his new favorite spot! The atmosphere is cozy and we loved that it is "dated" to quote other reviews. The food was so delicious! My toddler ate all of her food too which was a plus. They were kind enough to keep let us move from the front window down where it was a little more private. Service was good. I got the steak Oscar special and it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. My only complaint was the in the wine selection, but i guess i can be a bit of a snob in that area. We will come back! read more

Dirty Dan's has taken new ownership in the last 6 months and it has negatively impacted this once fine dining experience. The food is way over salted. I ordered a medium rare ribeye steak and it was served borderline well done with almost no pink in the meat. We had 3 other orders of the meatloaf which was so overly salted that nobody ate more than a few bites. At $30-$60 dollars a plate this is frankly unacceptable. My partner and I popped in for an impromptu Friday date night with no reservation, even though they were busy they said give us a minute to figure it out and sat us right away! Lovely Christmas Eve dinner for two! We felt like the only two people at Dirty Dan's. The service and food were excellent.

Food was just ok. We actually ended up here because our first choice was a long wait and we have kids with us, one of whom has food sensory issues. Everyone was friendly enough but for the price, the food was on par with something more like Cheesecake Factory. The Alfredo was runny and over salted, the prime rib bland, and even though we worked with the server to find something our youngest could eat (must have lots of ketchup), they told us at the last minute that there was no ketchup anywhere in the restaurant. I ended up having to take her elsewhere while the rest of the family ate. No compensation was offered. The Prosecco was good though! read more

We were here on a Wednesday night with friends. Service was great, polite and friendly. Ambiance is relaxing and pleasant, perfect for a date night or special occasion. Appetizer order of scallops was nearly inedible. I don't understand the concept of this dish....over cooked scallops completely covered in baked mozzarella cheese in a corningware dish is a bizarre dish to be served. Save yourself a disappointment and do not order. The gorgonzola breadsticks were a pleasant surprise. Steaks all around the table were cooked perfectly, and well seasoned. NY Strips had excess gristle, and parts of it were tough. The flavor and cook was fine but more scrutiny in the selection of meat is needed at this price point. read more

This is one of Bellingham's best restaurants. That said, this was the first time I've returned in quite a while because of a particularly poor experience on a night when no member of the family that owns Dirty Dan's were on the premises. To be fair, I can't imagine the owners turning away a party of a dozen adults on a slow summer night after assuring them there was no need for reservations. A dozen dinner guests turns a "slow night" into at least a "break-even" or negligibly profitable night for any small fine dining house. I typically won't "trash" a restaurant on a single bad experience, so I didn't rate them at all. My recent experience (Happy Hour starters and drinks with friends) was great, so I'm awarding them Three-Stars. In reality, one more great experience will earn back my confidence and the Four-Star rating they would otherwise deserve. read more

This probably one of my favorite steak houses. We were a big group . If you're going to splurge I would say this place is worth it. The service was prompt but gruff Though I'd argue that this part of the rustic steak house feel. Our waiter was friendly, and had great wine suggestion to pair with our orders. The steak , being the main event , was on point and perfectly cooked. I would say the sides were limited in terms of options and probably can use some creativity. Regretfully I never do Yelp reviews but I felt the need to do it now. Saturday night I had dinner at Dirty Dan's Steakhouse. To begin with, I will say, that the staff was nice and very attentive. No problem there! But for a facility to have such an epic history, the meals we received were gross, overly-expensive, fodder. Our drinks were nothing to brag about, the Old-Fashion was served in something barely bigger than a juice glass and the Kentucky mule was watery, not even sure there was any ginger beer in it. My baked broccoli with parmesan was basically inedible. I asked for baked potato with just butter and got a fully-loaded potato with no butter at all. My date had the halibut with garlic mashed and asparagus; it was a small piece of fish in a river of potatoes and three gray asparagus spears. Should we have sent everything back? Probably! Did we? No....but we will never return. This once iconic steakhouse is severely overpriced and definitely not worth a trip down memory lane or the money we spent. Sad.... read more

We came to this restaurant for a work holiday party. We sat upstairs (party of 18) and while they had enough chairs...it was a tight squeeze. However our server was nice, considerate, and overall was damn good at her job. She remembered everyone's drinks when they wanted another round, she told the specials to one half of the table and then went to the other side to repeat herself for the other side of the table, and all the appetizers and entrees were delivered one right after another...it was impressive. I had the 5 oz filet and my boyfriend had the 10 oz filet, both were good. The table ordered an array of appetizers and my favorites were the charcuterie board and this breadstick dish with Gorgonzola cheese drizzled over top...super yum! For dessert I had the Death by Chocolate but for me it had way to much salt....it came with candied walnuts and sprinkled salt but my palate didn't care for it. Our dinner at this Bellingham standard was quite disappointing. Yes, the Gorgonzola bread was delicious and more than enough to satisfy all five of us. The salads, both a Caesar and a poached pear, were large and lush, and some of the best that we have ever had. Each one could have been a meal. Entrées were only mediocre.Though an early reservation, they ran out of broccoli and the only alternative was asparagus which half of us don't like or had just had. The prime rib was full of gristle. The salmon piece was very small. The black and blue steak was only OK and the seafood pasta lacked seafood and the pasta was pre-cooked and mushy. The worst was yet to come. After 2.5 hours of waiting thru all this to get to dessert the chocolate cake with sawdust dry, and the brownie while large was stale. If they are seating at 50% due to staffing, they really need to make sure the staff are able to provide the service read more

The only good part of meal was the manilla clams, tho one only gets 4 slices from a tiny loaf of bread, ya want more...be prepared to pay for it. I truly felt bad for our server, who did a great job. She had to apologize for things that were totally not in her control. The prices for the food we were served was outrageous. My $12 Beet salad consisted of two cold small beets cut into four, 5 pistachios and a pitiful amount of cheese and some greens. That set the tone. My sister's steak was cold and under cooked. Her scallops cold, my brother's $43 steak overcooked. My meatloaf was warm but definitely not worth $28! They dazzle you with the large baked potato to make it appear as you are really getting something! Cheapest vegetable ever! I didn't want a potato with my meal so requested extra vegetables...note the plural. I got a big heaping of the second cheapest vegetable, carrots. Big, bulky chopped carrots! No other veggie included. This entire meal was a joke. If you insist on experiencing this place yourself, lower your expectations A LOT and be prepared to shell out a lot of money for very a mediocre meal. My sister and brother did get comped for half meal, but we still couldn't justify $22 steak that my brother took half home to his neighbor's dog because it was too tough for his cat. Hero Status Achieved! You rescued my birthday dinner! Dirty Dan's has clearly proven itself a winner. Truth be told, I remember my roommate and I going to dinner there way, way back, with my dad, when I was attending Western, say circa early 1980's and it was fantastic. And, guess what? I am still so impressed! So, jump forward a few decades, and I find myself in a bit of a jam yesterday. It was my mother-in-law's 97th birthday (and yes, seriously, she really does live on her own, goes dancing and plays bridge more than once a week, takes no medicine, and is kind of a rockstar, we love Winnie!) and I wanted to surprise her at her home for dinner. With a thousand meetings before hand, I had to rely on really good, serious restaurant-quality, take-out...but where? Just saying, God bless "yelp" and DIRTY DAN HARRIS'S! Two orders of plank-roasted salmon with garlic-mashed potatoes and asparagus - yum! Two orders of their infamous prime rib (with garlic-mashed potatoes and asparagus) ...medium-rare...for takeout...hmmm...yeah, risky, right? OH MY GOSH! FABULOUS! No, seriously! SO TENDER, SO FLAVORFUL, SO OHHHH! Even the side salads were great! The gal on the phone who took my call, as I was dashing up I-5 calling in my order? Please don't hire her away, she is amazing! The great guy who brought me my order and had someone to yard it out to my car (and that guy, too)? YAY! The prices are MORE THAN REASONABLE - ESPECIALLY FOR THE QUALITY! We started off with the cheesy bread. The Gorgonzola sauce was to.die.for. Our waitress recommended a reasonably priced bottle of wine, Gott cab sav I believe. Very delicious! For dinner our group had the lamb special, pork chops, and 2 of us had the steak tips. Everything was fantastic. I would say this is one of your top notch choices in Fairhaven, far exceeding Black Cat in food quality. Don't listen to these other reviews, they are crazy. This place is delicious. read more

The servers should have been wearing bandit masks and been declared pickpockets with our experience. Overpriced, dated decor, I have seen turtles move faster than our food did to get to the table. We went for a friends birthday the whole restaurant was reservations only- so they knew how many people would be ordering, so they can't call it up to shockingly busy. It took us over 2 hours to receive our food, the mashed potatoes were cool from sitting in the window too long , the steak was ok, but I have had much better. Because we were a group of 8 our gratuity was included in the bill, we were never apologized to for wait and we honestly should have had an apology and a discount for waiting so long. Moral of the story- don't eat there unless you like to feel like you have been robbed and you like a slow experience. read more

We were comped slightly but a $22 potato and inedible cold hard over cooked steak wasn't worth the discount. The server failed miserably and so did the kitchen. A promise for the manager to come out never came. We got swindled. Shame on you. I'd recommend eating steak elsewhere.
