While visiting Sedona, we were very pleased we were able to get a table for 8 on such short notice on a Friday. We were placed in our own area due to social distancing and I was happy about that. Our waiter took our orders but our drinks and food took quite a bit of time. They were out of one of the alcoholic drinks, so she had to order something different after we had all received our drinks. The food was pretty good, but some of the steaks were overdone a little bit as compared to what had been ordered. We were celebrating a wedding date, but no sort of congratulations or writing were written on any of the dessert plates. I did enjoy my dirty martini that was very well made with extra brine. Next time I am in Sedona, I'm willing to try somewhere else but am willing to come here as a secondary option. read more

My sweetheart and I traveled to Sedona for a short vacation. I had been craving a good steak after traveling through the Denmark and Uk recently and being very disappointed in my steak experiences. I saw reviews for Steakhouse89 and we made reservations. I got the petite filet rare plus. I didn't even know that rare plus was an option. I'm a local here in Sedona and I want to remind everybody about the lunch here at Steakhouse 89A because they serve a Fabulous prime rib French dip sandwich with a salad for about 14 bucks that's really worth it! And the bun is toasted just right and there's plenty of food! Long story short, don't bother coming here unless you're hoping to have your steak with a side of COVID-19. After calling over 10 restaurants on a Saturday night and being told that they were either booked up or had a 2 hour wait, we decided to try here, where we were seated outside immediately. That was the only plus to our short experience here (and I think there's a reason why there was no wait). Our server wore her mask as a cute necklace, the inside was clearly not spaced out at all, with a ton of people packed in the bar and booths. The bartender also wore his mask as an accessory, not covering the nose. So funny how masks have become rather a fashion statement instead of an effective life saving precaution!! (Now I know Covid has been hard to adjust to, but why bother having the mask at all if you're not to wear it correctly?) As a healthcare worker, and former waitress myself, I was appalled by the fact that the hostess was the only person wearing a mask (correctly-covering the nose). Our table was dirty with food on it when we sat down and our menus also had smeared food on them, which was a nice touch to the beginning of our last romantic night in Sedona :) The menu was oddly organized... you'll find it a little confusing and while the choices sounded good, not one bit of the atmosphere or service seemed like an upscale steakhouse. I've been to many incredible steakhouses in my day (I'm really not trying to brag, just trying to establish some credibility to my criticism) (also if you're ever in SF, go to Harris's and you won't regret it), and this place seemed as though the only thing it had going for it was the decor. Not even the singer/pianist they hired was pleasant to the ears. They played weird country music on the patio, which made the area have two completely different background music playing at the same time. Also this place is definitely more casual even though from the looks you'd think it'd be more classy. The patio and indoors was super loud and was made worse by the loud music. Wouldn't bother coming here if you want to have a quiet conversation with your SO. The only reason I didn't give it one star is because we left after realizing how dirty the place was and how careless it seemed they were taking Covid, so I left an extra star in case the food is actually good, since we didn't try it. My suggestion is: if everywhere is booked up and this is your last resort - turn around, call Pisa Lisa's and order some margarita pizzas, pick it up on your way home and save yourself some money, eat with comfort, and enjoy some bomb pizza with some beers and watch a movie or look at the stars instead. Hubby and I decided to hit the road and enjoy Oak creek for the summer. We always look for somewhere we haven't eaten before to try and decide to drive into Sedona. I have never walked out of a restaurant without eating until tonight. We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated immediately. We put in our order within 10 minutes. We waited and waited and our food did not come. Our waiter ignored us and when we finally asked about our order he told us that the kitchen "got slammed" and we were two tables in front of us. 15 minutes later (at 8:05 pm!) I asked the manager for the check for our drinks and she didn't seem fazed and just gave me the check. There was another couple there who also left in frustration. We had our wedding reception here on Oct 27th. The restaurant was perfect for what we needed for our guests. They have different size rooms and patio's and Jensen the general manager helped set us up with the perfect space and figuring out the right menu for us. The food was amazing and Alex P. and the rest of the staff took care of us like we were family. They made what was a very busy day finally slow down and allowed us to enjoy our friends and family in a great setting. All of our guests said they really enjoyed the food and the restaurant as well. We were visiting Sedona for a quick weekend get away and i got a recommendation for this place. I made reservations and that was easy through Open Table. When we got there we were greeted by the hostess and live music. We sat in the back room near the fireplace which was nice. Our server Brandon was so helpful with questions we had and with my wine questions. They serve local wines which was I lived and ended up buying the bottles to take home with me and will be returning to the winery in the spring. We showed up for our reservation, was sat and waited 15 before we were even approached by wait staff for help after we had to ask for help. I ordered a steak and asked for a steak knife so I could eat my well done steak that was suppose to be medium, only to be told they did not have any steak knives clean. Really, you are running at maybe 40% capacity and you are a steak house with no knives. I have to cut my tuff steak with a butter knife. I finally gave up after half of it, it was cold at that point anyway. I never mind paying a lot for a meal that is good, this was not good and I could not even eat it and had to still pay a lot. Terrible customer service! I went to eat dinner at this place August 23 and paid my bill which was $311.97. I left a 20% tip as well. It is now August 25 they had charged my card again this morning for the exact charge, so I have been double charged. I have called five different times today only to be told that the manager that is supposed to be on duty is in a meeting and out of the office. I've been told multiple times that they would call me back nobody has called me back. Every single time I call nobody is available to handle this miss charge. Not sure what kind of manager gets paid to not actually be at work and do his job. If you're looking to get screwed over and charge double for your meal that's already overpriced, this is the place for you. Does anyone know how I can give this place zero starts? I am not an avid Yelper because an establishment has to be extremely outstanding in order for me to get online to share my two-cents. Steakhouse 89 is absolutely a must-do when in Sedona. Everyone from the owner to the waitresses provided the highest level of service during our visit. The steaks were mouth watering and I'm not sure that I will ever be able to fully enjoy a good steak unless it's up to par with Steakhouse 89. Rib-eye and the filet are a must for dinner. And the Romeo and Juliet cocktail is perfect if you like tequila. The food was so good that we returned the next morning for Sunday brunch, filet benedicts! They were out of this world and highly recommended. I really can't rave enough about this restaurant enough and will definitely be visiting again when we return. If you are looking for amazing steak and wonderful people to make your evening that much better, go to Steakhouse 89. My biggest pet-peeve is going to a restaurant with top-notch food but terrible service. All of the staff here were friendly, inviting and willing to go above and beyond. The Owner, Dieter is an outgoing and humble gentleman who will make you laugh. We celebrated our 23rd anniversary dinner here last night and it was amazing! We were able to get our reservation moved earlier with no problem. Our server was Quint and he made great suggestions. We shared the lobster mac n cheese for our appetizer after Quint suggested it and it was delicious. I had the salmon special and the salmon was cooked perfectly. My husband had the filet which was also cooked perfectly. What impressed us the most was how attentive everyone was. The manager came by a few times to check on us and the owner thanked us for coming by. We will definitely eat here again on our next trip to Sedona. We have been to this restaurant 5 times. For the most part it's very good but there is a chance you will not have a good experience. The two situations are usually when they are pretty busy or they have new people "which is pretty common". The food is on most occasions very good but it is often inconsistent as ingredients and preparation seem to vary. Out last visit we sat on the patio for 15 min waiting for our server and had to go inside to flag someone down. Service that night really sucked.. the previous visits service was much better. If I had only the last visit to rate this restaurant it would get 2 stars. If they can get a good staff and limit turn over the food and drinks are good enough to return for but I suggest happy hour as it's the best value. I feel the dinner menu is a bit overpriced considering what you get. read more

Chose this place because it had great curbside appeal and has good reviews. We weren't disappointed. The entire staff was extremely friendly. Our waiter was great, and we had random employees coming to check on us throughout our dinner. The food: I had the NY strip and it was a little closer to rare than medium rare. I returned it to the kitchen and they definitely cooked it to medium. I let it go. My bf has the bone in ribeye and it was also closer to rare. They fired it back up to medium rare but in doing so, it lost its flavor. My side of asparagus was delicious and bf had the season veggies which were green beans with bread crumbs, but it also came with mushrooms- which he HATES. Lol. He didn't want to return that even though that ingredient wasn't mentioned. For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding which was honestly very good. It had a hint of dates which I love. Don't waste your time. Showed up for my 7:30p reservation to make a 9p event. We were told to wait 10 minutes to be seated. Peeked inside to see almost all there tables were open. Um sure? 10 minutes later ask if we can be seated and a waiter flew out of left field saying, "no one can be seated for another 45 minutes." I asked why, and he said they were short staffed. I understand we got a labor shortage, but damn let people know in advance if we aren't going to be able to eat there on time. Delicious food and amazing ambience. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and the service is so nice and accommodating. They have a full bar which is nice, I had their whiskey sour and it was delicious. I had a side salad which was delicious and presented in a cute way in cute bowls. Then I have their 8 oz. filet medium rare and it was absolutely delicious. It comes on top of a pile of mashed potatoes and sauce. That is all though so if you want extra sides, it'll have to be separate. Overall, it was amazing and delicious and the service was wonderful. I found my experience kind of entertaining. The server did not seem very confident regarding the menu or the job at remembering our 4 items. It's ok, I sympathize. I really like to be surprised by cheese plates. However, when I get my plate, nothing is explained to me, not even the cheeses. I'm not a fancy person, who probably doesn't belong in places trying to be fancy, but I found that a little odd. The staff and owner made me nervous because they were anxiously attentive. But this could just be my preference as a slow eater. Everything tasted great though, even my mystery cheeses. Great ambiance! Worst experience I've had at a restaurant hands down. Went here for NYE and made reservations a few weeks out. Our reservation was 30 minutes late, the food was all horrible, and everything took forever to come out. The people around us were all very upset too, and it was easy to overhear people at other tables since the owner thought it would be good to pack as many people into the restaurant as possible in the middle of a pandemic. After waiting 30 minutes for our desert to come out, the owner pranced over and said "we're all out of deserts everyone! Who wants shots!". After that I was very upset and tried to talk to the owner in private, I politely thanked them for being open during New Years and explained the problems I had with the service and the food. He then says "what do you want me to do about it?" I told him that I thought our meal should be comped considering everything tasted horrible and we didn't even get the deserts we ordered. He told me "not gonna happen, I'll take my chance with a bad review from you". The staff was working as hard as they could, and our server was nice and polite. The owner here is a greedy jerk. I'm sure this place is a little better on a normal night, but I strongly discourage anyone from giving this place anymore business. read more

Had been looking forward to our dinner reservations all day long. Our first impression was not good. Even with the reservation, we were left standing for quite some time in the entry. Next was the time it took for our waitress to get to our table. When our food came, all the steaks came but she said my fish was overdone so she was having the chef re-do it. Thought that was very nice but everyone was almost done eating before I got my meal which turned out to be flavorless halibut, mushy risotto and what was supposed to be chorizo but tasted like ground beef. The prime rib was thin and when it was sent back because it was too rare, it came back charred on the outside and still raw on the inside. They were kind enough to take 2 meals off the bill. If I could give it a zero I would. First off, no cars in thr parking lot and they acted as if they couldn't accommodate a party of 14. Second off the server was trying to put each order to a seat, but not doing it efficiently and correctly. I ordered my 2 kids mac and cheese then changed 1 mac to GRILLED chicken like We were told was a kids option. Thry brought out 2 mac and cheese a breaded chicken tenders. My kids don't eat chicken tenders (I know, odd but very true.) My husband ordered a Porter house, he said it was tasteless and full of gristle and fat. My flat iron strat was decent, but they brought it out first and was unsure of what it was so took it back. Burgers were cold and the bacon on them was burnt. A member of our party got sick feeling after eating her lobster bisque. The drinks honestly didn't even taste like they had alcohol. After 2 cocktail Which I'm not a normal liquor drinker and felt absolutely no buzz. But they tasted decent. The owner and GM came to see if We enjoyed out meal. my wife and I had a 7pm reservation on our last night in Sedona. this was an awful experience. our hostess initially sat us at a high top right by the bar and we politely asked for a different table. it took a while for our server Israel to take our drink order. I had to ask for water a couple of times. things were going ok with our first round of drinks and first course. things went downhill fast after that. well not really quick as we waited over an hour after placing our entree order. at this point anything less than perfection would be a letdown. our filet mignon ordered medium rare was served warm at best and was gristly. Our server apologized but we were not going to pay over $50 for such a subpar entree . If we are back in Sedona I doubt we will go back here. Perhaps they were having an off night but the group of owners standing around the bar didn't seem to care much about any of this. read more

I booked our reservation in advance for when we were traveling to Sedona for my mom's 75th birthday. The food was good but the service was awful. I tried to call three times to remind them of my mom's birthday and that I had requested a special dessert (which I would pay for of course). No one answered. When we arrived I reminded the two hostesses - both said they saw it and it was covered. The server said nothing. When we asked about the drinks before dinner she said "I really have no idea - I've only been here a few months." MONTHS. not days. We asked about kinds of cut of steak and she again said she had no idea. We asked about the sides and again...no idea. The lights got dark and we asked her if it could be turned up and she said...you guess it - no idea. Dessert time came and we asked about the bread pudding to which she had no idea.
