Our server Allen who had the same name as one of lie Elite guest, greeted us with a Brilliant smile and suggested some drinks and appetizers to start. It was busy and our server had about 6 other tables at one time and Flawlessly Executed them with ease because we were watching in amazement. The food was taking a bit long, but Allen's humor was thoroughly entertaining. Our guests swore he is a comedian, but he humbly said he just loves his job. The food came out picturesque but sadly we had already had a couple of cocktails and forgot and we were so eager to eat it. The meals were more than worth the wait. I was going to send this message privately to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt during these times, but after reading other reviews with similar stories, I think they've had enough time to get it right. The owner walked around all night wearing his mask as a scarf. Some of his employees followed suit - wearing their mask as they walked around then removing it when they got to their tables to work with their customers. Food was -- okay. The prime rib was overly fatty, a little under seasoned and tough and the mashed potatoes (as other reviewers have stated) tasted like they were boxed. Out on the patio, halfway through our meal, the music was turned up to 11 as a free version of Pandora (including commercials) played at ear-bleeding levels - repeating some songs while we were there. The door to the patio is a COVID-breeding ground as wait staff and customers alike used it all night while the wait staff handed their customers spoons with their unwashed hands. One waitress took a shortcut practically stepping over my wife to save herself from having to walk through the restaurant to get her table to-go boxes. We were visiting from Florida for a wedding in Sedona. The wedding reception was at this steakhouse. The service was great from the moment the driver of the shuttle picked up the guests from the hotel after the ceremony. The bartenders and servers in the private area where the reception was held were very pleasant and a lot of fun. To top it all off, after the reception some of the guests wanted to go to a bar near by so Ashley (the restaurant manager) drove us all to the bar and picked us back up after to take us back to the hotel. Bad value, pickup order errors, service by phone is poor, and stubborn manager $16 for just 1 crab cake, salad and calamari were also tiny. Calamari was soggy because they closed the lid. Rule 101 for togo fried food is to ventilate so the steam doesn't turn it from crispy to soggy. (The brunette bartender and manager tonight disagreed and said it got soggy because I didn't pick it up sooner. Even if I had picked it up fresh out of the oven, it still would've been soggy by the time I got home. If anyone eats fried food, they will know.) They also forget to pack the salad dressing, napkins, and extra utensils. Shouldn't have to check everyone's work. Receptionist took way too long to take my order set or 3 items and was unable to answer simple questions or find someone who could answer, such as how many crab cakes are included in an order? Steakhouse 89 is a relatively new addition to the Sedona dining choices. We had a reservation and there was a little difficulty finding a table for us in the dining room. We were offered the outside patio or the lounge area. It was happy hour and they were doing a brisk business. We were seated in a large booth in the lounge. The conversation level was energetic with the live music. Cocktail service was a little uneven. It appeared that our server was in a learning mode. My now-husband and I had planned a big wedding until Covid hit. We decided to cancel the wedding and go Elope in our favorite place instead: Sedona, AZ. This was my 5th trip to Sedona and I knew that restaurants that could host reception/dinner would be hard to find and that is when I sent an email to Steve. Steve is the general manager of Steakhouse 89 and he was AMAZING to work with. He helped me plan everything from what to serve to eat and drink, to suggestions on a cocktail hour (or thanks to Covid it is not called: Pre-dinner drinks). After the elopement we drove straight to the restaurant and Steve was there, drink tickets for my guests in hand. He walked me over to our beautifully decorated patio complete with Bluetooth speaker with microphone. Our servers Brittany and Bryan were the most efficient and friendly staff I have ever had the pleasure to work with. The whole dinner was extremely delicious from the wine to the steaks to the desserts! After dinner, we were leaving the restaurant and Evan is waiting there with the Steakhouse 89 shuttle. We loaded into the shuttle and Evan put on the best jams Sedona radio has to offer! We sang the whole way back to the house (sorry Evan). Back on April 24th, my wife and I split a $58 steak. The steak was overly charred on the outside and was a poor quality. The steak was full of grissle. The ambiance was just so so. Service was ok. The next night in a different city, we split another steak, much cheaper and much more enjoyable. I could not recommend this place if it doesn't change. read more

Sides were excellent but the steaks were not good. If you just used legit prime steaks you would get more repeat business and be more successful. At this price point they need to be legit prime. Ok. First time here since the change of restaurants. Sat at the bar for happy hour and my world of loves (minus one key one) collided! A martini w blue cheese siracha stuffed olives, hand stuffed by the amazing Amanda, then live music, great conversation, tvs (currently with Stanley Cup play offs and baseball on), then a happy hour drink called happy daddy - pure citrus refreshing - and finally, Sticky toffee pudding that would make my brittish grandmother proud. The toffee sauce has crunchy toffee crumbles in it, and it's 'rub on your naked body' delicious! People are friendly. Music good. Energy good. Definitely will be back for dinner. Loved it! read more

We showed up pretty late, around closing time, not intentionally but they were gracious enough to seat us anyway. There was a significant amount of people near us or at least visible to us from where we were sitting. There were six of us so we had a table in the middle of the room near the back patio, there were three couples in the room seated around us. The waitress Brittany J., wasn't present for about 10 min but her service was great once she became available. There we no silverware on the table, we asked for small plates after they'd brought us bread for four when we were six... Took at least 5-7 min to get silverware. Ordering was a mess because a lot of the items on the menu were unavailable, i.e. the lamb I wanted so I had to settle for salmon and it wasn't great, flavorless really but the sear and the crispiness of the skin was nice. I asked for it without the vegetable mixture but got it anyway, a mixture of corn and some other vegetable puree. I also ordered a loaded baked potato on the side but had I ate that after 10pm which was around the time it arrived, I never would've gone to sleep that night. So I took it to go (still haven't eaten it). SN: the bread was so good!!! So back to what wasn't available, 3 steaks were sold out, the lamb and lobster, all gone so in a steakhouse that becomes limiting. So two of my friends end up order the porterhouse ($72), one said medium, the other said well done, no pink! (I know, who does that?!! She does). It ended up being pink... So that was sent back and removed from our bill because she just didn't want it at that point (it was her birthday ). She had the Caesar salad (which ft. Anchovies ) but she said she really enjoyed it. Another friend ordered the scallops because there was no lobster and he was thoroughly disappointed as well, in the four scallops presents on a bed of risotto and he barely ate and of the sides he ordered which were french fries and brussel sprouts. All in all things were great but again Brittany J was the nicest, patient and did what she could with what she had! We really liked her energy. The owner came out and spoke to us as we were wrapping up... He said he was the head buss boy but he was from Germany. We were seated quickly despite not having a reservation however our server was not very attentive. She said she would bring us water refills but we never got them, so we only had one glass of water each for our entire dining experience. We got our food by another server, and then we realized we didn't even have silverware. So we sat there without touching our food for a few minutes until we spotted the owner/manager (who was walking around quite a bit checking in on everyone) and he got us our silverware quickly. We finished our meals without water and then at the end they overcharged us. After we fixed that issue, our waitress asked us to give her a positive review on trip advisor for some competition. I usually try to go to places with 4+ stars, but Steakhouse 89 was convenient, so despite the 3+ star reviews, we decided to try it. I've only eaten out a handful of times since Covid, and the places I've gone seemed to be on top of the safety precautions. I'm not convinced the same was true here. For starters, there was a live singer inside the restaurant. Normally I love live music, but in the age of Covid and airborne particles, perhaps having her indoors wasn't the safest move. We opted to sit on the patio because I prefer to avoid enclosed spaces, and our table was filthy- grease stained and with visible food left on both it and the arms of the chairs, so I don't see how it could have been sanitized between guests. The servers wore masks, but most of the masks fit so poorly they wouldn't stay over the nose. Many guests wandered around and went to the restroom without putting masks on at all. And there was one staffer, who I believe was the manager, not even wearing one. I was pretty uncomfortable with the lack of precautions, but I chose to stay because I was hungry, and trying to get a reservation elsewhere at the last minute on a Saturday night would have been impossible. Our server, despite the poorly fitted mask, was a very polite young man. A few things slipped through the cracks- like silverware and napkins, which didn't arrive until well after our appetizer was on the table. Luckily we had a charcuterie board, so while napkins would have been good, we were able to nibble on it without knives and forks. I'm still not sure it was worth it, as nothing on the board tasted particularly fresh. It was almost like the boards are made in the morning and stuck in the fridge uncovered, so everything was a little dried out and peaky. The rest of the food was well cooked, but plain. We had steak and chicken, and both were tender and juicy, but didn't have much in the way of seasonings or flavor. The only standout was a side of Brussels sprouts, which were by far the tastiest thing we ate. And finally, the prices. Steakhouse 89 is very expensive for what it serves. The items I listed above, plus two glasses of wine, came to almost $150 with tax and tip. The place we ate the night before, at which we had a similar quantity and type of food, came in at $50 less, had better reviews, and the food was phenomenal. All this to say...I would eat here again if I was starving and there was no place else to go, but for a planned night out, it's not really worth it. Sedona is filled with amazing restaurants. Way too expensive for what you receive. I often go to Ruth Chris Steakhouse and the prices at Steakhouse89 are similar but not worth it. The atmosphere is nice but that's about it. My boyfriend over heard the conversation with a server & hotess while walking to the restroom. The server was upset that the hotess seated us without a reservation, which the restaurant wasn't even busy and he didn't even end up being our server anyways. I thought that was very unprofessional. The server we did have forgot to put our appetizer in, when we asked about it he apologized. Things happen i get that but maybe comp the appetizer at that point. We didn't end up getting our appetizer at that point till after we started our main course. I would not recommend this place. read more

Probably the worst restaurant experience of my life! What made it so bad was the owner and GM, that both sought me out for feedback (not that they cared). The waiter was a comedy of errors. He insisted on knowing where every plate ordered went and then the food came out and they had no idea where to put it. The lady bringing it out even said she didn't know what the food was. The owner came by and asked for feedback and I said "it was good." He said "only good?" I said "it was good". He said "tell me about it". I stood up and started telling him about the mediocre food and horrible service and he thanked me for my feedback. I continued and he gave me a card and said "come back and I promise we will do better." No way are we coming back, and no way is this place getting better when they cant take constructive feedback. When it was time for checks the guy couldn't get it right. He wanted to do by chair again and I told him to do by family. Checks were sent back three times because they were wrong. The last time he handed me a check I pointed out we didn't have two glasses of wine and he ripped the check out of my hand. The ribs had very little meat, the hamburger was cold, and the fries were straight from a freezer bag! As I walked out they had a kiosks to leave feedback...it rejected my feedback...how funny...just like the owner and GM, tell me something good or tell me nothing at all! read more

When we arrived, we were pleased to find that without a reservation, we were able to be seated right away. It didn't take long to find out why on a busy Saturday night where the rest of Sedona's restaurants had 90-120 minute waits, this place did not. The restaurant had someone playing the piano and singing in the middle. The singing left a bit to be desired and would have been more enjoyable had they just had a little light music in the background. The dinner menu was small and for a "steakhouse" we were not impressed with the choices of steak. The waitstaff was friendly enough but failed in being able to answer very simple questions about the menu including what a certain cut of meat was. We didn't end up getting water until after we had ordered even after we were greeted by our waitress who said she would bring it. As far as the food goes, this was the biggest disappointment for the evening. The chicken had ok flavor, but you'd be better off getting several whole rotisserie chickens at the grocery store for the $24 you pay for the two pieces and a side. Speaking of sides, it came with broccolini which was decent and a side of mashed "potatoes". I use potatoes lightly because they were 100% instant potatoes and not real mashed potatoes. This is just sad! We also had the 10oz flat iron steak. When ordering, the waitress said they cook them on the rarer side. Because I like a steak medium, the waitress said medium well would get me closer to medium. When the steak came out, it was slightly burnt on the outside and lacked flavor completely. It's pretty sad to call yourself a steakhouse and have to try to add flavor to your flavorless steak by adding a demi-glacé. The steak came with the same instant "potatoes" and broccolini. Now the only star of the meal was our extra side that we ordered. We ordered Brussel sprouts that had Brie cheese, pepitas, cranberries and breadcrumbs. This $9 side was the only positive about the food. It was cooked well and had good flavor. If someone forced me to return to this restaurant, the brussel sprouts would be the only thing I ordered. Overall, it was an experience to say the least. One in which we would not try again. read more

We were really looking forward to going here for a nice steak and for live entertainment. There was a woman playing piano the the bar who was excellent, however we sat in the next room and could barely hear her. Once we get seated we were ignored for at least 20 minutes. That was the least of our problems. My husband ordered the $50 strip steak and I ordered the $45 6oz filet. Both came with asparagus and mashed potatoes-substitutions were extra. When our dinners arrived the NY strip was just ok and very thin. My filet which I ordered medium was undercooked and I had to send it back. Our potatoes were lukewarm and the asparagus was undercooked. To say the least we were very disappointed. We live near Toledo Ohio and I can name 10 restaurants there that are much better than this place. My husband doesn't like to make a scene but I really wish I would have complained to the manager while we were there. Bottom line - don't waste your money. An elegent, rustic romantic setting awaits you at Steakhouse89. The spacious venue illuminated by stone fireplaces and candlelight set the mood for an evening full of flavor. The steak for two was perfectly done and enhanced by the chimichurri sauce. I sampled several sides to include the wedge salad, chimichurri fries (hint by now u can guess i love chimichurri everything), and mac and cheese. All were perfect. Only itsy bytsie critisicm is that the price point of the dishes could afford to come down a bit. Had a very nice dinner tonight. Seated right away, water within 2 minutes, waiter (Michael V.) took order within 5 minutes. Food came quickly and was adequately hot. Large and excellent beef with grilled onions. I had the Caesar salad which was very authentic with romaine leaves, perfect dressing and anchovies ( which so many restaurants seem to be afraid of...). Horrible service, 4 out of 6 orders were wrong, drinks were weak, wine pour was short. Manager had a bad attitude, offered 25% but then only gave 10%. This ruined a long awaited birthday celebration and was our 1st night in Sedona. This had nothing to do with the Country's shortage of workers. It was bad business at every level. Very disappointed.
