    Lots of Dumplings!
    Mari B.

Need dumplings locally, here's the place! Ordered dumplings ahead of time and they were ready on time. Staff is great. They do a great job of packing all items and still warm when you get home. Cucumbers are a must here! Popcorn chicken and rice was great too - crispy chicken. Steamed bao are great and really full! Fan of the steamed pork and shrimp dumplings. Seared pork and cabbage are great too! Had the chili dumplings and they were super spicy but good. Finished the meal with the sesame red bean dumplings and having them with the honey sauce was really good! Dumpling size is large size and good portion size too!

I am only posting this review in regard to the boba! Hands down this is one of my favorite locations in Franklin for milk teas. Roughly around 7.00 a piece I feel like you get your money's worth. As always consistency is high on the list for taste. Customer service is always really good as well. The restaurant its self is on the smaller side, but has plenty of seating if you choose to stay. Steam Boys also has a full menu to offer. I have tried their Bao Buns in the past. They personally are a different experience food wise so I have to find the one I like. As far as the teas go I highly recommend Steam Boys for all your fruit tea/ milk teas needs.

The shredded "beef" bowl. Was all fat. The owner didn't care at all.

The man at the Franklin location he said he was the owner when I brought this back after picking it up tonight he could have cared less. He told me "that's the dish" and looked at me like I was an idiot. I have ordered this dish from the Franklin location when it came out several times and it was good. But this is unacceptable to serve something that has more fat in it than it does edible beef. This location has gone down hill fast and it's a shame. And the way the guy handled the complaint was very rude and dismissive. Im a single mom and my son and I have always enjoyed being able to go across the street to get dinner for dumpling nights. (Eating out isn't something I can afford to do all the time) I hope this location can get a pop in visit to inspect quality of dishes because I've had consistent issues the last 3 months and it hasn't always been like this. The photo of what I received looks nothing like the dish advertised.

We would give Steam Boys a 4-star rating as it's definitely on the pricier side, and costs can add up quickly. The sliced beef rice bowl, which came recommended, was disappointing - too bland and with too much rice and onions compared to the beef. The crispy chicken gua bao was enjoyable, but the true standout is the seared pork bao buns which were juicy, flavorful, and absolutely worth trying. The boba and milk teas are phenomenal on their own; we loved the sea salt Vietnamese coffee (my personal favorite) and the sweeter black tiger sugar latte. We will likely return for drinks and the pork buns! The ambiance is very modern - bright, open, airy, bamboo wooden pieces bringing a sense of calm. Love it! The staff were exceptional by the way!!

It's a quick way to get some dumplings aka gyoza . Great taste and very filling. We ordered the chicken pan fried dumplings and soup dumplings only offered if you dine in. The soup dumplings are Loaded with broth so be careful not to spill it all over. I recommend a bowl or dish to catch all the broth. The casing is a thick noodle, super filling. Environment Feels more like stop in Bobba spot more than a restaurant. I'd come back, when craving it.

The menu is awesome and exactly what we want. I had the seafood soup and the shrimp and scallops were so fresh! And the noodles and broth are perfect match. The dine-in soup dumplings are fantastic! Especially if you are a fan of ginger. The freshness was so good all the way around. And finish it off, we ordered Sesame balls, the maple syrup dip was an awesome surprise as it paired with the red bean paste! Delicious!!! Thank you Steam boys! We'll be back for more!

Must try fruit tea with popping

Great drinks and fast service! Tried their brown sugar milk tea--perfect balance of sweetness and chewy boba. Friendly staff and lots of options. Definitely coming back!

We Love Steam Boys, This Franklin Location and the super chill atmosphere. Veggies Dumplings are my favorite, kids noddles and their special bowls are amaze as well. Haven't had the boba yet BUT super excited to try. Great for kids, what with loads for tables. Also...parking is perfection.

Sea Salt Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Way too sweet.

Hot and sour soup was about average for Chinese American take out. The chunks, mostly tofu but also a little chicken, were cut pretty big. I always include sesame chicken in an initial order. It's the wife's favorite, and if it's not a good version, the restaurant is not going on repeat. I give them credit, overly sweet and sticky, which is what you'd expect in sesame chicken. Big chunks of nicely cooked, tender, thigh. A few al dente large pieces of broccoli. Next order, I'd also include a vegy dish to better balance the chicken and veg. Also tried the Szechuan triple delight. The dish is described as spicy, and I requested extra spicy, but it still had just a light touch of heat. It was a nice mix of protein and veg. A bit too heavy on the onion. There were just a couple shrimp but they were big tasty and tender. Lots of thin velveted slices of protein - honestly I couldn't tell for sure if it was chicken beef or pork, but it was very tender and pleasant, so I'll just stick with "happy mystery meat". Will definitely be giving Asian Taste a return visit.

Busy...busy...busy. Yes, many of us find ourselves buzzing around (especially this time of year -…read moreright before Thanksgiving) like bees and other creatures hustling to prepare for the cold months ahead. And, somewhat surprisingly...the same was true for Great Wall of China early afternoon on a weekday. There was a virtual constant flow of patrons coming and going, picking up call-in orders, and stopping for a mid-afternoon lunch. (1:30 - 2:30pm) Regardless of the "buzz," we were politely greeted by Lynn (Lin ?) and seated immediately. Drink orders were taken (fountain drinks or bottled available), menus presented. Drinks delivered and orders taken within 5 - 10 minutes....and a small dish of complementary candied peanuts placed on table. They were delightful. Our orders came out within another 10 minutes or so....even while customers continued to come and go. And 3 different people came out to check if everything was in order..."all good?" - "yes." First for me was a hot, super crispy, veggie egg roll. Multi layers of rice paper wrappers contained a rather bland stuffing. A dollop of "Momofuku-style/Lao Gan Ma" chili crunch with its savory, salty, spicy, umami nature helped. (Of course the traditional hot mustard or duck sauce could have been chosen instead...but none was offered.) Second - my go-to lunch dish, Hunan Chicken. Uber-tender small bites of white breast chicken sauted and bathed in an earthy sauce, along with carrots, mushrooms, onions, and zucchini. Good - yes. Great....not quite. The depth of flavor wasn't here. But the subtle and persistent heat was spot on. Chicken and broccoli for my luncheon guest...was also shy of our top marks. And this dish (attested by both of us) was way over-salty. Too much soy or...? We'll ask next time. Regardless, we will be back because the selection and affordability of pretty darn good Chinese food is what we continue to seek on our Yelping quest across all cuisines of the world....especially close to home.

The atmosphere immediately caught our attention--creative, intimate, colorful, and just a really cool vibe. Then the food came out and somehow managed to match the setting. From the food to the service, everything exceeded our expectations. The first thing that stood out was their small plate concept, and I absolutely loved it. I enjoy trying a variety of dishes instead of committing to just one entrée, and this concept is something I wish more restaurants would adopt. We ended up trying almost half the menu and loved nearly every dish. A huge shout-out to our server, Nestor. He welcomed us warmly, was cheerful throughout the evening, and his recommendations were spot on. He truly made the dinner even more enjoyable. We started with a couple of mocktails, and the Purple Haze was refreshing and delicious. Here are some of our favorites: MI Cucumber - Smashed cucumber with soy dressing, crunchy chili oil, and cilantro. Simple, refreshing, and packed with flavor. Plantain - Fried plantains topped with sriracha goat cheese, cilantro, and crunchy gremolata. The sriracha goat cheese paired perfectly with the sweet plantains. K-Pop Chicken - Korean sweet and spicy popcorn chicken with great flavor and a perfect balance of sweetness and heat. Dumplings - Homemade steamed dumplings with edamame, truffle, yuzu ponzu, and garlic confit. I really enjoyed the truffle flavor, though it may not be for everyone. Kimchi Bacon Risotto - Caramelized kimchi, applewood smoked bacon, tomato, and shrimp. One of the best dishes of the night--perfectly cooked with incredible flavor. Crispy Spicy Tuna - Spicy mayo tuna served over crispy rice. This was one of the highlights of the meal. The crispy rice was absolutely perfect. Cauliflower Taco - Crispy cauliflower with guacamole, creamy miso, and tsiran spice. The filling was flavorful, and the cauliflower was cooked perfectly. Lamb Chops - This was the only dish that felt average. The lamb was cooked well, but it was missing a bit of flavor. A little more seasoning, especially some salt, would have really elevated the dish. To finish the meal, we had the Banana Pudding with Vanilla Gelato, which was a delicious and satisfying way to end dinner. Overall, MI Kitchen completely exceeded our expectations. Amazing food, a fun small-plate concept, and outstanding service from Nestor made this a memorable experience. We'll definitely be back to explore the rest of the menu!

I love all styles of Chinese food--from Americanized classics to more traditional dishes--so I was excited to try a range of items. I ordered several dishes to get a good feel for the menu, including sautéed mixed vegetables, egg rolls, steamed dumplings, wonton soup, and sesame chicken. The sautéed mixed vegetables unfortunately missed the mark for me. The sauce was extremely strong and completely overpowered the dish, making it difficult to enjoy. My roommate ended up finishing it and agreed--the sauce was just too intense. The egg rolls were also a bit underwhelming. The wrapper wasn't as crispy as I would've liked, and the filling leaned heavily toward meat without much vegetable balance, which made the flavor feel a bit one-dimensional. The steamed dumplings were better and one of the stronger items we tried, though I think a more flavorful or complementary dipping sauce--and a bit more variety in the filling--would take them to the next level. The wonton soup had a really nice, well-balanced broth, and the wontons themselves were cooked perfectly. That said, the soup felt a little lacking in substance. Adding vegetables like cabbage, carrots, or peas could really round it out and make it more satisfying. The standout of the meal was the sesame chicken. It was well-prepared, flavorful, and came with a good portion of broccoli--though I wouldn't have minded even more. Overall, No.1 Chinese falls somewhere in the middle. It's a decent option if you're looking for quick takeout, but if you're searching for something more memorable or elevated, you may want to keep exploring.
