For the Nashville/Franklin area, I enjoyed the food here! Compared to the vast but unsatisfying asian options around, Changhong is pretty good. I did a pick-up order, so I'll have to come back and try the hotpot, but our experience with the two dishes we ordered was good. Ordered: 1. Snow pea tips ($21.99) - a classic chinese restaurant dish that they did well; would order again. 2. Sour cabbage fish ($28.99) - the portion is huge (you get what you pay for ~$30), but satisfying. The fish fillets are incredibly tender. The pickled cabbage gives it a nice sour flavor to round everything out, and the soup comes with noodles which was a nice surprise. At the conclusion of our trip to Nashville, Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge, we were in the mood for something that wasn't fried, bbq, pizza, or pasta; so we found Chang Hong Spicy Hot Pot about half an hour away from BNA airport. This fit our time budget just fine as we had about 3.5 hours before our flight departs. This location is what you would expect from an ordinary hot pot restaurant with simple seating, a custom bar to choose the items you want, and a small sauce station. My lovely lady and I decided to go with the custom hot pot option where you grab a large bowl, go to the custom bar and choose the items that you want them to cook in your hot pot. They weigh all the stuff together and charge $14.99 per pound. We originally choose the House Spicy broth, but my beautiful partner asked the lady how spicy was the broth, and she did say it was actually spicy; so she asked them to downgrade my broth to the Sour and Spicy broth, as it was more mild. I'm so glad she did, as my broth still seemed quite spicy, especially the red chili oil floating at the top. I'm not sure how she was able to deal with the House Spicy level, but she was able to power through it. The sauce station was quite limited, without any sweet options to mix with the spicy oil and scallions. Overall, this place is ok for Tennessee. I went to Chang Hoang Spicy Hotpot recently and was relatively surprised and happy with the overall experience. From the food, the service, friendly and welcoming staff, and cute environment/restaurant itself - it had left a great impression to me and my friends. We went as a group of 6 and ordered family style (with 3 dishes and 2 'build your own hotpot bowls' that is charged by weight). Considering that we had plenty of leftover and feed a group of 6, I'd say the price is fair. It's not "cheap" but also not "extremely expensive". At first I was skeptical due to a slight language barrier but even then, the staff did their best to ensure we had a pleasant experience! Not to mention, the store had no one inside which is to my surprise. I hope their business remains open and grows further. I'm used to a hot pot restaurant with the broth in an warmer at the table, this is a bit different, you pick out your vegetables protein and noodles from a salad bar and then choose your broth when you food gets weighed (in my group of 7 most bowls weighed around 2lb). I don't know) The food was delicious and pretty authentic. This dish was rated 1 spicy level but it was spicier than a level 1 according to a Thai girl who eat a very spicy Thai food. Came here for lunch on a weekday and the place was pretty empty. Really grateful for authentic Chinese food in the area, but our food was underwhelming. You order at the front and grab a seat, then they'll bring the food to you. We got the rice noodles, and we noticed some other tables had the individual hotpot where you can pick out your ingredients. A lot of the rice noodle ingredients they gave were canned meats and not many fresher ingredients. The quail eggs were very mushy inside and tasted very sour and off. The wood ear mushrooms also tasted odd and slightly bitter, so I didn't eat them. Upon ordering, I studied the menu and went with my personal favs, salt & pepper shrimp (10/10 for the flavor & large portion & shrimps were huge), snow pea tips (9/10, these were great, nicely cooked & not overly salty), and lomein combo (7.5/10, these were good but could better needs a bit more umami flavor). I did get adventurous and order the sour fish soup (9/10, surprised good, swai fish was very tender, the cabbage was a nice & slightly sour, the broth had lots of garlic pieces that I loved and some noodles that paired well with the brothy slightly spicy soup). The dishes seems pricy until you see the large portions. My family will be eating on these leftovers again for a couple more meals so worth it, we will be back! Never been to China but I speculate this is what authentic Chinese food must taste and look like (including the Chinese TV's channels as part of the decor). First time I visited I did the hot pot off the buffet with mainly seafood items (see image). While they have the eponymous hot pot in their name they are much more than hot pot cuisine. On subsequent visits we ordered off the chalkboard menu of daily specials or the colorful menu. The service is excellent as they encourage you to ask questions. They use very fresh ingredients and you will get lots of them but you will pay dearly. Given the size of the portions, in their own way it is a family restaurant. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment I walked in, the staff made it very clear they didn't want to serve me. They were rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. To make matters worse, they kept giving me different closing times, as if they were trying to rush me out before I even had a chance to order. As for the food--an absolute disaster. I specifically asked if a dish was spicy because I can't handle too much heat. I was assured it wasn't, but when it came out, it was so spicy I could barely take a bite. The super friendly staff explained the different options that were available: choose from the hot pot bar along the wall and pay per pound or pick something from the menu. My husband and I decided to try both since it was our first time. He got the per pound hot pot options with the bone broth. For a decent amount of food, his dish came out to be around $12. The bone broth was super flavorful and honestly one of the tastier bone broths I've had in a while. I decided to try the beef rice noodle set with the mushroom broth. The presentation was gorgeous!! Came on a weekend evening around 5:30PM, at least half the tables were taken. I wanted the crossing bridge rice noodles and my friend wanted the hot pot, and after helping with getting ingredients for the hot pot, I decided it might be enough for both of us. So, we just had that with the beef bone broth (friend doesn't eat spicy, sadly), and got the beef roll. I got the extra spicy oil, garlic, and green onion from the spice bar next to the hot pot ingredients, and that combination was amazing - sufficiently spicy and flavorful. The hot pot itself was fine, nothing special, soup was fine, could have been more flavorful. The rice cake was perfectly chewy which was great, and the ingredients were good. Quite pricey though, as the bill came out to be around $45 for the amount of food we had. Beef roll was extremely mediocre, as the wrap wasn't great and inside was just beef and cilantro, which made it a bit dry and lacking flavor. Very clean and modern inside, not too loud and friendly service. Might be back to try the rice noodles! read more

It has lost its 'Chi'. Family has been coming here for the cross bridge noodle, the broth was great in the first few months they opened. Last time I went, which was approx 1 month ago. They changed the bowl to smaller version citing the usual ones were cracked so they changed to this new bowls, which made stirring all the ingredients in the bowl difficult. In case you are not familiar with cross bridge noodle, the ingredients are raw, and you have the hot broth to cook them when the server brings it out to your table. Small bowl, that's a no no. Then it's the broth, it tasted like water. What?! We came here for the flavor of the broth and we got water?! We grew up in China and we know what real Chinese food tastes like.
