Nice quiet atmosphere. Finally found a Szechuan sauce in Franklin that is not overly sweet. I told them mild and it was the PERFECT amount of spice. Rice was cooked well and the fried tofu was cooked properly - not overcooked and squishy. They did not have Szechuan tofu on the menu, but she happily substituted the shrimp for me. (Not a vegetarian- just happen to like good fried tofu in a spicy sauce ) Prices were extremely reasonable and they do a lunch special for less than $10. Will definitely be back! read more

We place an order on the phone on Wednesday, day before Thanksgiving. They said it would be ready in 25 minutes. We arrived and had to wait another 25 minutes for it to be ready. The food is great, but the wait is awful. Would have preferred to be told when it would honestly be ready. But, we had the spicy shrimp, which was amazing, perfectly cooked. Also had Mongolian beef that had so many onions, it was nearly inedible. The "fried rice" we ordered was mistakenly given to us as brown rice. We were obviously not the only ones told the incorrect times. The lobby and parking lots were full of people waiting. It was very loud. read more

The food was delicious and I highly recommend! Definitely the best Chinese food we found around Franklin and the best we've had since we left Chicago. I had the orange chicken and my wife had the kung pao and we both thought our meals were really good. We also ordered the crab rangoons and spring rolls and both were delicious. Was trying to come up with something catchy for this review, but like the food we ordered....have come up short. Best part of dinner here was the polite young woman who took our order. Polite...but not well-versed in explaining dishes. Yes, I suppose I could be better prepared when dining at an ethnic restaurant, but I also think the staff should be able to explain differences in seasoning between Hunan and Sczechuan. Both chicken dishes I asked about on their menu had a hot pepper symbol beside them. (I love spicy dishes.). Yet when I asked about any difference she simply said, one had brown sauce the other doesn't. Uh....probably have some other spices too? Regardless, the dish that was served was not hot (spicy) at all. Big disappointment....and seasonings? They seemed sadly lacking as well. Hot and sour soup was ok but nothing to get excited about. Egg roll - fair, but again, run-of-the-mill. Rice....ok, that was pretty good...but it was just rice....not gonna drool over plain white rice, no matter how well it's made. Bottom line...dim interior, menu lights burned out so dishes could not be seen (likely stock photos anyhow). All in all a big disappointment. read more

I'm from out of state and was not satisfied. My brother in law bought us dinner and let's just say 'No'. Spring rolls were bland and undercooked and were very hard to chew on as were the meat Ragoons as well. The dumplings tasted of burger beef and depended on onions, the sauce was plain old soy sauce. The orange chicken, sezechuan chicken and honey chicken ALL TASTED THE SAME and LOOKED the same. The pork fried rice was bland, the chow mein was bland as well and shrimp smelled old. The beef and broccoli...beef was gamey and was grossly fatty, and broccoli was the only decent thing. I don't understand what everyone is whining about. This is a standard Chinese take-out place. Chinese take-out is not good for you, it's salty and fun and cheap. You don't go to McDonald's and complain that they don't serve T-bone steaks. The food here is decent. It's made to order in the kitchen, instead of being in trays under a heat lamp like many take-out places. The workers are nice, too. They want to take good care of their customers, and when you're at the register, you are clearly a priority. I used to live around the corner from here, and ate here pretty often. Now I live in Philadelphia where there is a crappy Chinese restaurant on every block. This food is much better than that. Drop the snobbery, folks, and instead enjoy the egg drop soup. read more

After visiting Chopstix several times with relatives (my last visit: Sept 2018), I've concluded that there are two factors that will determine if you enjoy (as I do) this modest eatery with only ten tables in a strip-mall: First, your tolerance for Americanized, "Fill 'er up" Chinese comfort food, and second, which dish you order--as described below, we've enjoyed some dishes while finding others plagued with stringy meat. Some folks, such as my Taiwanese cousin in-law, don't find sufficiently authentic this economy Chinese food, similar to the "Chinamerican" cuisine offered in strip-malls around the U.S. If you prefer upscale establishments or Chinese restaurants where the menu is actually in Mandarin, you'll likely share his opinion; I'm not trying to dissuade you from such tastes. But I, on the other hand, who unapologetically prefers quantity over authenticity, enjoy the generous, hot and tasty (if salty) portions. While Chopstix is not a buffet (unlike my beloved Ding How in Prattville, Alabama), I probably get no less to eat here than at a buffet, and my relatives end up having to put their leftovers in to-go boxes. But getting not just a lot of food, but a lot of *good* food at Chopstix depends on ordering the right dish. I've ordered their chicken, beef, and roast pork Lo mein, and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. However, my relatives said that the General Tso's chicken, though they enjoyed the flavor, was stringy, and that the beef and broccoli dish contained so much gristle as to be unpalatable. On the other hand, both of my relatives commended the Hunan chicken, adding that it avoided the stringiness of the other dishes, had good flavor, and the right balance of spice. Due to the quality of Chopstix's dishes being hit-or-miss, I considered only giving it a three-star rating. But, I've genuinely enjoyed my visits there, and I look forward to visiting again, so I've awarded it four stars, while at the same time conceding that not all dishes there deserve that many. Some closing random trivia: In June of 2015, a fire broke out in Chopstix. Employees attempted to subdue it with an extinguisher, but it continued to grow until the automatic sprinklers kicked in. The store was saved, but not before it sustained an estimated $50,000 of damage. But, Chopstix appears to have recovered well--if I hadn't read about it, I wouldn't have known it. read more

This place provides a great online menu ordering option; after that it is all downhill. My food was promised at 5:10; had to ask several times the status of my order. Did not get it until 5:45. Had I not paid cash, I would have walked. And the order was not correct! Don't waste your time with this restaurant. The food is not worth the aggravation having to wait and their limited understanding of customer service. A better choice up the street is Ching Asian Bistro in Westhaven. Better food and I'll drive the extra two minutes to get my order on time and correct. Chopstix is off my list forever! read more

If you enjoy mall buffet food that has been sitting for hours, this is definitely the place for you. The food is tough, chewy, flavorless, gelatinous and just plain gross. At 6pm on a Friday, this place was empty. Not a single patron. That says a lot. By far the worst Chinese food I've had to date (and I've had it all over the country in cities big and small). Here are just a couple examples of why I would never come back... We ordered 10 things and only a few containers were labeled so we didn't know which was supposed to be which as we opened them, which was concerning since we had kids and several were supposed to be spicy. There were four chicken dishes that looked exactly the same, and tasted nearly identical. The meat was so tough that no one enjoyed it even if you could get past the bland flavors and the kids gave up early on trying to gnaw at them. Pepper steak with onions looked and tasted identical to Mongolian Beef, with the exception of the Mongolian having green onions. Beef with broccoli didn't taste like anything, it seriously had zero flavor, just a nasty gelatinous mouth feel. Nothing had any seasoned flavor and none of the spicy dishes were spicy. The orange chicken had an odd orange color and tasted like white sugar. The fried rice was dry and flavorless. The only redeeming item in this whole mess was the chicken lo mein. I'd want to give it zero stars if it weren't for that. There was only a few strips of chicken in the whole quart sized container, but damn it was tasty. read more

I ordered the L4: chicken, shrimp and mixed vegetables with white rice and wonton soup. I took my wonton soup home so I'll eat it later. I did eat the meal and the vegetables were crisp which I liked. Zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, and baby corn were the vegetables and all of them were good. The chicken was flavorless, gummy, and unappetizing. The shrimp were large, deveined, and cooked well but they were not enough to save the chicken. read more

This place has gone downhill to the point where it's completely unsatisfactory. They've decided to start using little styrofoam cartons that are far smaller than the quart size boxes for entrees and fried rice or vegetables that they used to use (and what they charge you for). When I ordered additional fried rice they charge me for it and then do not provide the original side rice that should come with the meal. I ordered vegetables with shrimp and lobster sauce and it looks like they're starting to use the frozen diced vegetables in the small bags that you find in the grocery store freezer section. As for the taste - its very bland. I will not be returning after several years of being a regular patron. When you start producing bad quality food and shortchanging your customers it's time to find a new place to eat. read more

In the words of my husband, "Built in portion control." Translation: "It's so bad, I can barely eat it." Bland and gross. I had the Szechuan Style combo plate. The sauce was rather bland and not spicy (despite the chile next to it on the menu). The squash in the dish tasted freezer burn. My husband had the steak and seafood combination plate (though, he should have known better since it's cheap Chinese in a landlocked state). The sauce, again, had no flavor. The scallops were ocean water salty and tasted like old seafood. The imitation crab legs were beyond disgusting. My daughter's chicken fried rice was eatable but nothing to write home about. The hot and sour soup was sweet, but not bad. It was all around gross and waste of $30. Three-quarters of it went directly in the garbage. They are definitely fast with the orders. It seems they are always open. We have been going here for a little over a year. When we first went the place was not the best, but the food was pretty good. We were here last week and decided it would be our last visit!! The place is DISGUSTING!!!! I didn't even want to touch the trash bin to put my garbage in. It's crusted over with good and looks like it has not been cleaned for years. The soda machine looked the same way...all splattered and stained. The entire place felt greasy and gross. It felt like it was 85 degrees inside. I don't know if there are new owners or what the reason is, but it definitely felt like a disease waiting to happen! I can't believe there are no inspectors that go into this place because it certainly would not pass a board of health inspection! As for the food, it was just okay. The sesame chicken dish I got had a tiny bit of chicken, if any, wrapped in a ton of breading. It was so greasy and hardly worth the calories. I ordered chicken fried rice and it was absolutely the worst fried rice I have ever had. The chicken didn't look or taste like chicken, it looked like pieces of chicken fat. I could not find anything that nearly resembled meat. The rest of the dish was Rice and a little bit of onions. Typically chicken fried rice at other restaurants actually has chicken and usually has other vegetables such as peas and carrots and sprouts etc. The taste was even disgusting. If there was a way to give zero stars that is what I would do. To be absolutely fair, my husband got a Bourbon chicken entrée and said it was OK.
