Heard from others that they had good food so stopped in while in Fairview. Woman taking orders was friendly and when asked about the chicken wings said it's not popular and recommended the chicken on a stick. I went with the wings. (Bad mistake - keep reading). Downside is they don't take American Express but thankfully I had a back up card. So I went home and excitedly prepared to eat. Visually the rice looked mushy and fried egg roll looked old. The wings also appeared overcooked and dry. So my mom and I dug in AND were disappointed!! Food tasted old as if it was leftover. Lacked any flavor and my mom used 4 packets of duck sauce to make it edible. The first wing I tried was old, dry, and over cooked. My second wing tasted rancid! I almost started to throw up and immediately spit it out. The eggroll was so old it was inedible and tasted awful. The entire restaurant should be closed down and the owners should be EMBARRASSED for serving this meal. I am not sure what others are experiencing that they are raving BUT what I received was one of the worst meals my mom and I have ever received. If you read my reviews you'll know I tend to give higher scores. But I could not ever encourage someone to experience what we did. I even hate thinking we were purposefully given rancid, old, left over food but my experience seems to be the anomaly. read more

I've eaten there regularly since they opened and my food has consistently been very good. Lunch specials are an excellent value and you won't leave hungry. Best Chinese restaurant in Fairview.... Very inconsistent. I never know if I'm going to get amazing food or just straight up bad (like tonight). The price keeps increasing so it is no longer a cheap option. When it's a gamble, it's easy to say never mind to this place. General Taos is pretty much only batter. The chicken and beef are sometimes a questionable texture. The rice is always hard and plain. Sometimes the sauce is awesome and flavorful... other times it's very bland. There are not any option nearby unfortunately, but I would say pass and get a different cuisine. read more

Glad to have a Chinese place here in Fairview. The service was great with very sweet and polite people. My only Criticism is that I wish there was more flavor in the food. It's not bad or anything but is on the bland side. That's just my opinion but it's definitely something that can be improved. I hope they keep doing well but just hope they make it more tasty. We went to jade wok this last weekend. It's probably the best Chinese restaurant I've been in over the last 5 years. The food is consistent and always great. My favorite food here is the hot and sour soup. Also I love the teriyaki beef on a stick. Always amazing food. read more

The Jade Wok recently opened in Fairview giving China King some competition. It sits in the same strip as Publix in Bowie Commons which is a pretty convenient location for most of Fairview. It's decorated sparsely, but seems clean. You order at the counter and wait for your food to be brought out. The service is decent too. Their prices are little on the high side in my opinion. The on the other hand is wonderful. Very delicious and very generous serving sizes. I could only eat about half of what I was given. I ordered the orange chicken and my wife ordered the sesame chicken. Both were delicious. I will be back again. I noticed that they have a family package for a little over $20.00. Fresh, quick, and hot Chinese food that fulfills my takeout craving. We usually order the Mongolian beef, beef fried rice and a side of homade sweet and sour sauce to add some sweetness. It's nothing fancy, but great for what it is, and am really happy to have this option close to home :) read more

We frequent here often. Good prices, nice portions(always get take out portions seem bigger). Fast service! Not the best, but not the worst. Does bother me that they put one of the little kids to work behind the counter running the cards and taking orders, can't be more than 11 years old. read more

OK, Apparently I am the lone dissenter here - I hope that's not just because Fairview has so little to choose from that people are fooled into thinking this is something that it's not. I have attempted this on four occasions, so I have tried, I really have. First, the good. The place is clean. Not too large, but it doesn't need to be. Clean, and the staff have always been extremely kind. Patient, never rushed or rude, very friendly. That's worth an awful lot. Also, the portion sizes are huge- almost embarrassingly so. They are definitely catering to the large American clientele that prefers so often wants quantity over quality. OK, now on to the less than stellar. I'm sorry, but it's the taste. Or, should I say, lack thereof. I have tried the vegetable chow mein, and was met with an enormous container of onions, broccoli, and a wee bit of celery in a light-colored sauce. That's the extent of it. There was absolutely NO TASTE to this sauce or dish whatsoever; totally bland. Would have expected a few pea pods, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, maybe peppers; nope. Onion, broccoli, and about 4 slices of celery. Tell me what makes this a Chinese chow mein?? Or, right; the bag of fried noodles for the top. This didn't remotely resemble any chow mein I have ever tried in any city I have ever lived in; truly baffling. I also ordered the steamed dumplings. There were eight in an order, and the dumplings are very large - impressively so, makes me think they are hand made there, not pre-bought and frozen previously. But - can anyone honestly tell me what is in them? The meat mixture was nothing I could identify by color, texture, or taste. My greyhound loved them, however, so they do have one thumbs up. She also eats cat box crunchies, however, so I'll let you be the judge. I also ordered the Singapore Mei Fun, vegetables and thin rice noodles in in a spicy sauce. One of my favorite dishes in asian cooking - again, little to no flavor. A very respectable serving, but again, simply, no flavor. I thought by ordering a spicy dish I could circumvent this issue about the lack of taste, but it was not to be. I liked the boneless Bar-B-Q spare ribs slightly better; the pinkish-orange tint is a wee bit off-putting and they are dripping in oil, but the spices / rub that imparts the not-in-nature color also adds some much needed flavor, so that item goes in the plus column. The egg rolls are large, and a typical Chinese tradition; nothing to write home about, but nothing to get upset over, either, Typical egg rolls. Finally I also tried the Bourbon Chicken. This was possibly the most successful dish I experienced; chicken and onions, drenched in a thick, dark sauce, and again, large in portion size. I usually prefer vegetable based dishes, but those I have tried are so lacking in any taste or flavor at this place that I just cannot see giving it another try. Four attempts, and only one that I really felt was worthy of the price paid. Sorry, there are far too many better restaurants that I would rather go to. Are they about 20 miles further away? Of course. WOuld I still rather make the drive for quality food? Absolutely. Save your money, take a little drive, and give yourself a better treat - somewhere else. read more

This is very good, made to order fresh Chinese food. I am impressed. It is your basic take out/ casual dine in Asian food restaurant, but the food is better than average. Their plates/dishes were plastic, almost as if the building were a giant food truck, the only things good were their dumplings and wontons (desserts and sides) other than that the food was less than decent but not horrible. Maybe it's because I went on a Sunday night 45 minutes before they closed, but the food was awful. I got the bourbon chicken, it was just old crunchy bits of leftover chicken. Terrible. I also got cheese wontons, the wontons were good, but the sweet and sour sauce that came with it was the consistency of water and was cold. Not impressed. read more

Jade Wok is excellent! Flavors are subtle and their sauces are very realistic. I lived just outside of Chinatown in San Francisco in the late 60's. The staff is wonderful and it's clear that they enjoy what they're doing. The facility is clean. The pork egg foo yong is my favorite and I would have it every day if that would be possible.
