Went here after thrifting our way up and down Nolensville Pike. Me and my friend got a bunch of things to try. Steamed Pork bun, Steamed Beef fun, Soup Dumplings, Shredded Beef Rice Bowl, and Five Spice Chicken Rice bowl. Everything was good. I favored the rice bowls. It was way too much food for 2 people, but we enjoyed ourselves in restaurant and took home leftovers. I come here regularly with my husband when we are craving Asian cuisine because it's conveniently located near us. The decor here is nice and there are plenty of spacious tables for groups. Ordering is done at the front and food is then brought to your table, much like other fast casual establishments. We tend to order the pan seared dumplings which satisfy our craving for flavorful filling, but can be overpowered by the taste of the frying oil. I LOVE soup dumplings and they aren't the easiest to find in Nashville compared to our previous home base in Oakland, CA. But Steam Boys scratches the itch.... Every. Single. Time. Other favorite menu items include the noodle soup and the fluffy steamed bao bun with crispy chicken, pickle and spicy sauce. Steam Boys had a pop up at my job through Fooda. The staff were amazing with explaining each dish and even recommending their favorites. I decided on the shredded beef bowl and I'm so happy I did. The beef was sliced thin, but oh so filling. The rice was cooked perfectly. The added green onions and fried egg on top elevated the dish. I ordered the sliced beef rice bowl and WOW. It is so so good! The fried egg on top is a great addition. I ordered it to-go and saw they gave me a soy sauce packet. Trust me, you don't need it! The beef and juices give the whole dish plenty of flavor that the soy sauce is just not necessary! (But if you do enjoy your soy sauce then by all means, go for it ;) ) I also ordered a Thai boba tea and it was a wonderful treat. I always get the beef which has consistently been tender and tasty. This time I also got the spiral cucumber which was really tasty. The pan-seared dumplings were crispy on the bottom and packed with flavor, and the spicy dumplings had the perfect kick without being too much. I came here for the first time with some friends and ordered their steamed bao. I got the beef and the pork one. The food came out pretty fast and I took my first bite and it was pretty good, but pressed on the side of my bao bun was a dead daddy long leg spider. I immediately lost my appetite and notified the restaurant staff. It's a huge deal to find a dead spider on your food and at first it seemed like they didn't care too much about what had happened and they offered to give me a refund. Later on, they came up to me and offered me a meal on the house to apologize for what happened. This is the reason I give them 3 stars instead of just 1. It seemed like they were genuinely sorry about what had happened and was willing to make up for it. I would just be wary and cautious simply because finding bugs in the food seems like a cleanliness issue especially if it's a restaurant. read more

Pieces of chicken were cubed thighs with the skin still on. Skin was not crispy, not my thing. Another person got the pork boa. I did not like it. Decided to check this location out for lunch since it's so close to my place of work. 5 years ago pre covid I loved the Steamboys in Germantown. One of my favorite places for a bite or two. Unfortunately, this one did not meet my expectations. Maybe it's due to expansion or maybe roots have been lost. I feel like the quality of the food has seen a hit. On Tuesdays, steamboys has all you can eat dumplings. We decided to give this a try. Everything we tried was simply alright. With the all you can eat dumplings you get a choice of pork & cabbage, pork & shrimp, veggie, chicken, and the hot dumpling bowl. You can have them steamed or pan seared. We tried every single choice and unfortunately every single choice felt mediocre. On the bright side, I did order a yogurt jasmine milk tea with tapioca and it was delicious!!! Big RIP :( read more
