The food is fire, and better than anywhere else I've been for Chinese in Nashville. They are SO fast; you can call an order for pickup and it's ready in 15 minutes. I've never had an order come incorrect; which as a vegetarian is very important to me. As far as dining in; it's a quick service authentic (enough) Chinese restaurant in a shopping center, so if you're expecting a PF Changs vibe that's your problem. Best takeout staple! I was charging my EV around the corner here at Willowbrook Commons, walking around seeing if there was anywhere to eat and that's how I found No 1 Chinese! The restaurant is extremely well maintained and I was greeted kindly. The ambiance facilitates these moods of kindness and cleanliness. I felt welcomed and ready to eat! The chefs were cooking and enjoying their work--I could see their smiles and hear their conversations which made me smile too! They were very fast and the young lady at the front had packed my order within about five minutes or less! She related to me about how sometimes waiting for things seems like it takes forever and sometimes life jumps by super fast! This place is pretty badly named. You go in thinking that no one is Chinese as the sign states, and then I'm pretty sure they all are. It's an awkward moment all around. On a less serious note, the food is average inexpensive Chinese. It takes a lot longer than it seems like it should to get your food, so plan to order and go to Kroger or somewhere else for exactly 13 minutes longer than you think it should take. Not a bad joint, not fast, filled with a diverse customer flow of people who do not seem to have ever ordered Chinese food in their life or realize you should not get sushi, especially in the south, at a take out Chinese joint. I like it, but it breaks the cardinal rule of Chinese joints. If you're going to be great you don't have to be fast or cheap. If you're going to be cheap you don't have to be fast or great. I stopped here tonight after shopping at Kroger because I was hungry and this place is a lot closer to where I live than my favorite Chinese food location. I will not be back. I ordered their General Tso asking if they could do all white meat nuggets rather than dark meat breaded nuggets. They said they could, charged me an extra dollar for it...and then this WAS white meat chicken. It wasn't the kind of chicken you normally get in General Tso chicken. It was...not pleasing. This was my first time eating from this location. I tried it as it was located near a large grocery store. The wait was 10 minutes (not bad). Food was hot. Flavor was very poor quality compared to at least 4 others within 3 miles. Rice was very disappointing. I would not recommend based on other options available. Not a good experience for lunch. Dear Former California people: This is Not California grade Chinese. It's East Coast Chinese - and yes there is a huge difference. (Travelers understand.) That being said, it's the best egg foo yung I've found in the city. It's also super efficient delivery so your food is actually still too hot to touch by the time it gets to my door which I love. Definitely one of the worse take out Chinese restaurants I have ordered from. For starters, do not get the sushi. It was not fresh and the fish had a terrible odor and taste. I threw it away! If you order anything with "lobster" be advised it's actually crawfish. Also threw it away. The fried was editable, although my thoughts are, it's pretty freaking hard to mess up fried rice. I also ordered the cashew chicken and it was just frozen vegetables and very small pieces of fried chicken. Also threw it away! Okay folks - i just ordered delivery for my family - 2 orders of fried dumplings, kung pao chicken and shezuan chicken. OMG - the ONLY edible dish was the shezuan chicken......everything else that involved minor frying was HORRIBLE - obviously the oil they used was rancid and the rest of my order stank and tasted disgusting...stay away from this place - out of a $36 dollar order, only 5.00 was edible - the remainder is sitting in the hallway outside my hotel room....Please stay away!! read more

They aren't the most "customer-friendly" but they get the job done and done well. Not the best name choice but we are in the South, so... Out of all the Chinese restaurants I've had and I've had a bunch this is the best as far as quality

I wish I could give zero stars. My fiance and I ordered take out from this restaurant to be delivered. Over an hour passes and we get a rude phone call from the driver who has our address confused. My fiance corrects the problem and thirty more minutes passed. We get another phone call-- EXTREMELY RUDE. This driver proceeds to tell us that we gave him the wrong address.. he is at a hotel and wants to know which room we are in. My fiance tries to explain that he gave him the right address, we live right down the road from that hotel. This driver starts to curse at my fiance and tell him that hes wrong, our address is this hotel he is at. My fiance tells him please do not come to our home, it has been an hour and a half, and after the elapsed time and rude comments, I do not want to see you at my door. Five minutes later this driver is beating on our front door, shouting loud enough to wake up all of our neighbors. My fiance opened the door and told him to leave. My fiance tries to shut the door, this driver PUSHES through trying to walk in to our home, still shouting. My fiance tells him he needs to leave or we are calling the cops-- the driver tries to say that he will call the cops. He goes back to his car and sits in front of our house shouting to the point to where our neighbors come outside to see what is going on. My fiance tells him again that he needs to leave. The driver starts shouting "F---- You" at the top of his lungs over and over and he finally drives away.. still shouting. We called this restaurant to report the actions of this driver and they hung up on us. We are filing a police report and suggest that others who have had similar experiences do the same. We have ordered delivery at least 15 times and its always been super consistent.
