We were very pleased with the results, we are waking up with clear noses and no allergy symptoms since the cleaning. We got the deep carpet cleaning and our 6 year old carpet looks very good. They have done decent job. Some complains: 1. Unexpected extra charges - The charge for cleaning return (large $35 each, small $25 each) need to be mentioned in ads; The game room was considered as 2 rooms (he did not define what meant one room). The coupon from Valpak said Air duct cleaning whole house package for $77 for single furnace with free 2 rooms carpet cleaning with air duct cleaning, but it was basic cleaning and $20 extra each for deep cleaning. They said I can use the coupon only once since I have 2 units of furnace. Finally, I paid $369.00 (with tax $399.00). 2. Not clean areas with small furniture - if the help is needed to move the small furniture end from the house owner, they should notice the owner. Because, in my situation, if I did not check, the areas with small furniture, such as light stand, deco stools, even small chairs, would not be cleaned. I helped to move the small furniture so that the areas were cleaned. The worker was not happy for that since I asked him to do so and his explanation was that the small stuffs might be broken when moved. It is understandabl for the fear of liability. However, the owner needed to be noticed and undertand the responsibility and may provide help. 3. Messy working environment - leaving my wood floor dirty with boots and hoses. I have to do extra cleaning work for my floor and stairs. 4. The worker apparently was rushing to finish the job without carefully exam the cleaning job. Just before the workers got their hose back to the truck, the last air return was remembered to be cleaned. That last move made me feel unsure if they did other air returns right or not. 5. Dump all dirty fluid in my driveway and made it messy. 6. They said I need to get mold off for $900. I am not expect to spend that money right now and not sure if I need their service again to my home... 7. I am not satisfied with this job. I called Steam Express because of a coupon special. When the technicians got here, one of them immediately tried to upsell me. The coupon was for 10 ducts for $77. He said that to do the intake duct it would be an additional $350. He then told me I had mold and this would cost around $1,300 to address or he could sanitize it for a little less. Additionally, one of the technicians dropped a large duct cover he was taking off the ceiling, and it almost landed on my little dog. Instead, it scratched our hard-wood floor and dented our coffee table. The 3 technicians were here for less than 30 minutes. The equipment they used was not the professional, industrial grade equipment we have seen other companies use. They have been gone for about 5 hours, and my eyes are still stinging from whatever residue they released from the ducts into the home. I wish I read the reviews before I hired them....they are just like the reviews said, they were very unprofessional, dragged mud through out my house. Didn't wear any shoe coverings and I mentioned the mud several times to them, they just ignored me. My hardwood had mud droppings and they left all the cushions upstairs after I mentioned to them that they needed to go downstairs before they left. Such a scam!!! Called them in for a $77 air duct clean using Valpak coupon and pretty much the moment the so called supervisor entered the house, he started talking about all the different services that I need in addition to $77. The first shocker is, even though they advertise it's a "Whole House" package but the fine print says that the $77 doesn't even include return vent. That's $99 extra. Then he tried to sell me on $175 HVAC Sanitation service and the way they sell that to you is by saying that, you have to do that job right now when you're cleaning the air vents otherwise it's not as effective. The cleanup for the vents didn't even take 15 minutes as I'm pretty sure they were cutting corners as the salesman was trying to sell me all these other services and I ended up spending almost ~$200 bucks. I wish I would have seen the Yelp feedback before I got this job done by them. I went back to my Valpak coupons and saw 3 other companies which had less than $77 dollar packages and which included the return vents as well. They deserve an award as the worst company in Houston. Stay far, far away. After the flooding on Memorial Day 2015, we had 5 soaked rugs. Four were orientals of which one was a family heirloom. The rugs needed to be cleaned and dried quickly so we had Steam Express pick them up the next day without doing much checking. Didn't hear from them for months and when we finally talked to them they informed us that there was a 'small hole' in one of the rugs. Naturally, that was the ~9x12 heirloom rug. They didn't want to discuss any responsibility, of course. We were told a supervisor was going to call, but naturally there was never a call. It took another month to get the rugs delivered. The person on the phone curtly said they would not discuss any remediation until after the rugs were returned. Of course, after they were delivered, they have never called. So the net total results? 1. A not-so-small hole that was never there in an heirloom rug. The only thing to do now is to move this rug to another room and hide part of it under furniture. 2. The other large rug, another 9x12 Pakistan rug, has a bluish stain that is about 18" x 12" at one end. 3. A smaller 5x7 oriental (copy) magically turned into another rug entirely! We have NO idea what this rug is, but it isn't ours! And, of course our rug is nowhere to be found. We would love to get it back to its rightful owner - it isn't our style. But it is very doubtful that Steam Express has any clue whose rug this is and we really don't want to have to talk to them ever again. 4. Two ~4x6 rugs came back and appear to be okay! So 2 small rugs out of 3 small and 2 large came back right! They should be so proud. read more

I'm so f**king mad right now, I can hardly type. DO NOT use this company for any vent duct/ dryer vent cleaning needs. When you look up their name on the internet, the name is "Air Duct Express." However, because they don't want you to be able to track them, they also use the name, "Steam Express." I'm usually savvy in choosing a contractor or a company to work on my home; why why why didn't I do my homework on this company? Why didn't I look at the reviews? I would've RUN. 1.When Danny arrived (he looked/sounded middle Eastern), he immediately tried to upsell services to my husband, saying things like, "If we find mold, it will cost extra." My husband just stared at him point blank and said firmly, "No. Just do the basic cleaning that we requested, with the price that was quoted." The guy said, "Okay, that is fine." That was a HUGE turn off to us. Why don't they explain on the phone beforehand exactly what will be charged if mold is found? Look, don't try and start selling us extra services when we were quoted another price on the phone. 2.Could BARELY understand him; his Eastern accent was very thick. When I work with someone who's doing a job in my home, I want to be able to understand them without having to ask, "What? What did you say?" 3.He had a helper with him, who started cleaning the vents; he would move from one vent to the next, first cleaning the vent with his vacuum cleaner, and then cleaning the floor. I got up, and noticed that he was leaving behind ceiling debris on the floor. I actually had to tell him to come back and clean several areas of our (tile) floor. Additionally, they left material that had fallen from the ceiling on several pieces of our furniture. For that, too, we asked that they vacuum it up, but they did a super SUCKY job. There was a large mess of ceiling debris left on our dining room table that had come down from the ceiling, and they were gone before we realized it. How we missed that, I don't know, but we obviously would've had them clean it. 4.They were in and out in 55 minutes, and that includes doing our dryer vent as well. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? The company that did our vents previously were definitely here much longer than that. We would've used them, but had lost their invoice/name. I did call and speak with a receptionist regarding the different company names. She said that sometimes Air Duct Express contracts out to Steam Express if they're "overbooked." Hmmm. We would've really appreciated being told that when we called, and we don't even buy it, especially after reading all of the other horrible reviews. NEVER AGAIN. DO NOT USE! Terrible service and very low quality of work! If possible, I would leave 0 stars. I selected Steam Express after receiving a coupon in the Valpak envelopes. I researched a few companies offering discounted service to clean my air duct vents. I specifically selected Steam Express because their add stated (with a picture as well) that they scrubbed "all the way" to the main A/C unit. When the team arrived, John the technician immediately tried to up sell and told me that I had to get my whole system sterilized and disinfected - quoting me a $3000 service. One can imagine my shock at that price being that I had booked a $75 service. I told him multiple times that we could not afford that level of cleaning at this time and would need to stick to the basic vent cleaning that we had booked. He explained that we would have to pay extra due to the number of vents we had - which I understood and agreed too. It is important to note at this point that his tone was very short and irritated from the beginning of our interaction. John was aggressive in his sales tactics and I didn't appreciate his tone or candor while speaking with me. He, uninvitedly, sat down on my couch and started spouting numbers, which I thought strange being as I had not asked him to, and I remained standing and had not sat down. He and his team also left their shoes on while in my house, even though we do not allow shoes on our carpets. John shouted "just basic" to the 2 other gentleman who had already started working and immediately stormed out of my house and sat on my front lawn speaking on his cell phone and smoking cigarettes for the remainder of the service. He threw cigarette butts in my drive way as well. I stayed inside to watch the team work. I noticed that they were only vacuuming the outside of the vents and just the opening of each in the ceiling. I thought at first this was the preliminary task to to before they then vacuumed the vents to the main unit. When I saw them replacing the vent guards then I questioned them about cleaning to the vents. Both men claimed they didn't speak English all of a sudden (I had heard them speaking English). I went out to find John, smoking on my front lawn, and questioned him. He stormed upstairs and asked his men if they had vacuumed to the vent, they said they had, and I explained that I had watched the entire service and they had not. John then claimed "well he has been working for us for 11 years and so I trust him" I then explained I saw what I saw and that the vent was not cleaned, along with any of the others. Long story short, this argument ensued for another 10 minutes with John refusing to do the work. I called the company and asked to speak with a manager. I was given the run around for over a week, after calling daily. Reasons to a manager not being able to speak to me included "we are closed for a holiday (not a holiday), they are on vacations, I am the manager and will speak to John and get back to you (nothing happened), etc. After calling back about 4 times, the girl that kept answering the phone said "oh is this _______." And then gave me a reason why she couldn't help me. Since the service (over 2 months now) there has been daily dirt and grime blowing out of the vents in our house. They merely stirred up old dust and dirt within the vents. This was not happening before the scheduled cleaning. I originally scheduled the cleaning upon recommendation from our AC company as to the current age of our new home and that is was good cleaning practices. Upon researching the company more I found many low reviews and they have a F rating with the BBB. Most claims being very similar to mine. Similar complaints to others. When I set up the appointment they told me it would take two hours to clean all the air ducts and steam clean the carpets. On the day we got a call a little over an hour before they were supposed to arrive asking if they could come early. We said ok and then rushed to move the furniture so we would be ready for them. Over an hour later they finally showed up and said they had gotten lost getting to our house. They did the evaluation of the air ducts and advised us that there us mold in the upstairs HVAC unit and ducts (which there is). But the price quoted to clean and sanitize the system was about $300 more than anyone else - I called around to four other companies to check prices before we agreed. Their coupon for air duct cleaning doesn't include the returns, which are an extra $35 each. Ridiculous because they spend about 5 minutes cleaning each one. We refused the cleaning and sanitation because it was overpriced and the woman answering the phone at the office couldn't explain properly what the charges were and why they were more. She was very unprofessional and rude. Then one of the workers told us he was leaving to go buy himself a new phone charger. When he got back we said we were going to wait to do the HVAC servicing. They then rushed and did a one hour job cleaning the vents and doing the carpets. They didn't vacuum the upstairs where all the debris from the vents fell - only the downstairs because we were watching them down there. Left a huge mess. The "tech" suppose come for an estimation, but he straight way told me they need to inspect whether there is mold, although I keep asking what's the difference and how do they charge, the guy provided very vague answer then come down show me two picture saying one need heavy treatment ($399) and another light treatment ($199), and they will charge 49$ for each big vent, all these are not included in the ads 77$ for 10 vents package. And they insist that the machine is connected so it's not estimation and I must pay at least for the basic package . The guy acted like its my fault not tell him this is estimation although I have told him the min he step in. After all With the basic package, they do not open up the vent and do the air duct clean, just stick the vacuum pipe into main unit and god knows whether they have cleaned all the 22vent or not, no proof at all. The men walked in the house bringing all of their equipment and never really discussed anything with me until they were halfway into the work. Then they mentioned their was mold in my system, so they would have to clean that, so I agreed, then they would have to clean the vent plates or the mold would just come back, then they needed to clean the coil or the mold would also come back. Their pricing is a good deal, but both times they added additional fees and tried to hard sell me more services. The technician called at 5:15 to tell me he was an hour to hour and half away from my home. I called upset. The lady who answered did not care, said she still called within the "window". STAY AWAY!!!! I was excited to find a coupon in our local AUSTIN paper from STEAM EXPRESS for a/c vent cleaning up to 10 vents, and carpet cleaning in 3 rooms- all for $88. Too good to be true! They came out and were gone in 20 mins, leaving me with wet, smelly, matted carpets that were still dirty- (and they weren't that bad in the first place)! And now they smelled funky. They also did nothing but run a brush about 5 feet up my vents, and then proceeded to put the vent covers back on backwards, so we had to go and turn them all back around- no easy task on 10ft and 25ft. ceilings. They paid absolutely no attention to how they were put on in the first place. And they tried to get another $165 from me to clean the return.. which was not included. When I called about the carpet mess, it turns out- the coupon didn't include SOAP! They wanted $25 more PER ROOM to add soap. When the carpets finally dried 4 hours later, they were still dirty and now- matted! I called them and got no satisfaction and my husband called with the same results. They did offer to come back and do the SAME thing again (no soap), which would have left me once again with dirty, wet carpets. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! - $65 Valpak offer with two rooms carpet cleaning - to their credit, they did toss in the short hallway between our two rooms. 1) We emphasized at the time of scheduling we needed 30 minutes notice prior to arriving. We did not receive any phone call prior to arrival. 2) Arrived 40 minutes late (supposed to arrive at 8 am sharp, as we notified them we had a 10 am appt elsewhere). 3) Argued with us to remove their shoes or wear booties in the house (we have babies that crawl around our floors) and it was pouring rain as well outside. Not a good way to start when you're 40 minutes late. 4) UPSELL EVERYTHING - it's crazy...it was a true bait and switch as others have noted. We were told the ducts would be covered, then it turned into two AC units are separate, then the sanitizing, blah, blah, blah. BTW - the EPA does NOT recommend sanitizing, not shown to be necessary. 5) $65 turned into $200. 6) Crew chief sat on our staircase playing with his phone while the other two guys worked (even though he knew we were pissed they were late) - one of the guys was on his first day on the job. 7) Didn't return the moved furniture to its original location - we had to ask them to come back in to do it before they left. 8) Dust and junk everywhere when they finished, staircase left wet by their hoses. Carpet wet until the next day - odd that someone else also noted this. A few large areas on the carpet didn't clean up (might be our fault, but worth a mention). 9) Call the office the next day and got a 30 minute lecture from the person who was supposed to "help" us on how the billing was appropriate. We got that part figured out - we are upset by the poor CUSTOMER SERVICE. 10) Offered a $50 gift card for future. We rejected it. no interest in a future visit from these guys. read more

Half way thru the job I was told that it would be more because the vent was higher up than expected. Workers were prompt. I had two bedrooms and an area rug cleaned.Bed rooms are ok but there is an electrical outlet hanging out of the wall, giving me a new problem. Area rug has big splash marks and stains that were not there before. I complained and a new set of workers came and did a "re-do" on the area rug. I looks worse now. It is a wool rug I brought back from South America, a $1200.00 rug. I told the worker that it was wool and that the dog had peed on it. He said the chemicals they use brought up the stains. The marks you left were in an area the dog did not go near. I was left with white drips on the floor around the carpet. Your people should have cleaned this up. Such sloppy work. I was left with all bedroom furniture piled on a bed, the outlet hanging out of the wall, splash marks on the floor, and cherished expensive rug ruined. I am not happy. I paid $115.83 and want a refund OR you can reimburse me for the area rug, $1200.00 & pay for the electrician. You do not look good in the Better Business Bureau, do you want another complaint? Besides being swindler and con artists, they absolutely ruined my floors. I started with a beautiful floor that had grout that was a little dirty. I ended up with a dull scratched horrible floor and the grout was not a lot cleaner. I called to complain and they assured me my floors were fine and there was no was no way they scratched them I wish I would have read the reviews before I called them. The carpet cleaning that I also had done was not great but at least the carpets are in no worse conditions than they found them. I wish I could say that for my floors! read more
