A lot of history at this place and it's been a long time since I've been here. I used to come here alot as a kid. It's nice to see it still here. It's on the beach side of the boardwalk so it makes it even harder to miss. It's like a small Fair/Amusement Park. They have rides and games for the kiddies and older kids. Adults too if you're still a big kid like me. Ferris Wheel, bumper cars, etc. Also games for prizes. There's a ticket system for the rides and I believe you can get a bracelet of some type for multi or unlimited rides. They also have a few food vendors as well. The Steel Pier is the amusement park that features prominently in any view of the Atlantic City boardwalk. It is a decent site for some family friendly entertainment and is similar to the amusement park at Coney Island. However, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. One is that the amusement park is not open every day year round. It is only open every day during the summer time. During the winter it is closed and in the fall and winter, it is mainly open just on the weekends. Make sure to double check their website if it's a place you're specifically go to Atlantic City to see. The other thing to keep in mind is that it is a bit expensive because of their pricing system. A "single" ticket for the rides costs $2.00, but each ride requires 4 to 6 tickets, which makes them $8.00 to $12.00 each. The rides in general are mainly for kids, though they have a handful of more thrilling ones for adults. My 1st time here, I ordered the crab legs which was good, my hubby is not a fan of crabs or lobster, he only likes shrimps. The lady was nice enough to give him the rice with shrimps and corn on the cob. Food was good, only thing was the flies we had to cover up the food so they could not get into it. Great little amusement park during this pandemic but expensive for what you get. Mask are required to go into the amusement park but lots of employees and people wore them down under their chin, most didn't even care really. I did see employees sanitizing the bumper car rides only. No other rides were sanitized. There are a few hand sanitizing stations throughout the park and clean bathrooms. A lot of Rides were closed. Tickets are $1.50 each and every ride starts at 4 tickets while bigger rides are 8 tickets. I got the biggest ticket booklet of 80 tickets for $73. Keep in mind that on Tuesday's they have a deal for 2 ticket Tuesdays, making all rides just 2 tickets each. On Thursday only, they have wristbands at $34. I should've went on either of those 2 days for a better deal. It's definitely not worth $1.50 per ticket for a little kid ride. That's basically $6 for a ride that goes up and down for small children. I consider that a rip off. I can certainly come back again only on days they have a sale. read more

I give this place a solid 3. For me it's a pretty even split in terms of the pros and cons of this landmark. Pros - It's historic and you feel like you're visiting a big part of Atlantic City's historical legacy - The views here are lovely and it's refreshing to take in the ocean breeze on a warm day or a lovely summer evening - There are plenty of rides and games for all ages, though most of the stuff here definitely leans on the older crowd - There are some entertainment and dining options including a pop up buffet that shows up occasionally during the week at the end of the pier - There's a big helicopter landing pad at the end that offers brief aerial tours Cons - This place gets chaotic/busy and it's not really great for young kids during those crazy/peak times - The rides aren't cheap. In fact, nothing here is cheap. The souvenirs are overpriced and the game prizes are mostly garbage. - Not really great dining/food here compared to better options elsewhere - Some rides are a long wait I think it's a place that is worth visiting for the sake of visiting, but I just don't consider this a great return visit kind of place unless you love the vibe and view. Otherwise, there's plenty of other places that offer rides, prizes etc that are way better bang for your buck. read more

So the steel pier was very significant to Atlantic City through the years . This is very popular place where folks would come for relaxing and entertainment. Yes there's no diving horses and true, there's no live performance from Bruce Springsteen, Frank Sinatra... Etc. But I also can still appreciate the atmosphere that once was. Now there are some rides. I didn't ride anything. I admired the sights and imagined something else. I believe it's place where romance bloomed and lovers frolicked on the beach and folks getting dressed up and going to the casino and watching magnificent entertainment. Having some nice cocktails... Buying boxes of souvenirs salt water taffy for those poor steps at home so when able to get away for the summer. It's sweet to see this place in the daytime and also at night. Such a nice stroll on the boardwalk. Unfortunately there are a lot of drug use / undesirable folks that make A girl like me feel a bit nervous about her safety... Had I've been alone. So most people are a drug user look like a lot of massage parlors open at night. But I can look at the bright side and appreciate that I got to see a place that I always heard about and had always hoped that I would get the chance to see it with my own eyes. read more

If you take casinos out of the reasons why people visit Atlantic City, then this would be the number one reason why people flock here. Just kidding. I wouldn't know what the reason would be, just a hunch. Just like Santa Monica pier and Coney Island, this pier is an amusement park with various rides and a helicopter ride at the end. Essentially everything is cash only, so I didn't do anything as that was reserved for gambling ;) Looking at the prices, it seems expensive, even for a cash only service/product for the rides, games, and food. I guess it's a good thing to have if you're bringing kids with you since they're not allowed on casino grounds. At night, the ferris wheel lights up and I pretty much can watch the different light shows that put on display all night. read more

I love it here! Sure it's not the best place for rides and games but it's the only one at Atlantic City! They have a huge Ferris wheel, pizza, drinks, small roller coaster, some other rides, bumper cars, axe tossing, basketball, helicopter rides and more. You can eat, drink, go on some rides and play some games. The Ferris wheel is big and enclosed for privacy. The other day the pier was closed because somebody rented it. That wasn't cool! Steel Pier has come along way! It has been refurbished into a family friendly amusement park. The Pier is still a little dilapidated but has kept some of the original details. It's not a big Pier compared to other shore towns and can get crowded with people. The front of the pier has food stands and seating. There are also musical acts that play here. You walk through the original archway to enter the carnival like area. There are children's rides as well as rides for teens/adults. A giant Ferris wheel has amazing views of the shoreline and city. A helicopter ride is at the back of the pier. Lots of typical boardwalk food is available like funnel cake and ice cream. A hot dog stand sells dollar dogs. The pier is located towards the North End across from the Hard Rock Hotel. I don't do many rides but it was a fun place to walk through and people watch! read more

Decent smaller amusement park on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. The coupons for the rides are pricey, but there also isn't too many rides on this small pier. The games are pricey as well, so pick and choose which games you want to play as some are scammy and others are decent enough for what they are. I didn't bother with food, but I would imagine pricey and typical. I didn't interact with any staff aside from the girl who was with the game we played. She was actually very friendly and nice. There is an arcade on the inside - some give you coupons for prizes. There is more than enough hook crane games, but largely they are a waste of money with the weakness of the hook grab. There is a helicopter ride at the end which takes you down the Boardwalk and back. Overall not a bad break from the norm on the Boardwalk. We visited Steel Pier in mid-September and were shocked to find that, despite the great weather, the pier was closed. After talking with a few locals, we learned that after labor day Steel Pier only opens on weekends (and sometimes only on Saturdays). There was only one ride, the Ferris Wheel, which was open during the week. We decided to try the Ferris Wheel on a weekday for sunset and it was pretty incredible. It's definitely the best view in Atlantic City. Even if you don't do the ride, I recommend walking up to the ticket booth just to sit in the giant chairs and enjoy the sunset from the pier. read more

Honestly I only recommend it during day time hours if your with children so they can enjoy the view and rides and so on. The Steel Pier is nice to look at and adds to the ambiance that is Atlantic City and the boardwalk, but as an actual activity, it is sorely lacking. Took some great photos from afar, paid $3 to take three lazy revolutions on the Ferris Wheel (for more photo taking opportunities which I took full advantage of), and took about 20-30 minutes to stroll around. My jaw dropped at the number of tickets most rides cost. . . cheapest being the Ferris Wheel with others upwards of $6-$8 for a single ride. They offer ticket packages that jump from $30 to $60 to a whopping $120 to ride these simple attractions. There are approximately 20ish rides to spend your tickets on, several games both manned and robotic, and food stands offering treats that are likely to make a reappearance after any one of the twirly whirly trips you spent tickets on. Two main attractions here are the Rocket (an orbital cage attached to massive bungee cords in which up to two people are strapped in and slingshot upwards at speeds of 100 mph) and the helicopter rides. These cost $20 and $50 per person respectively. I was looking to spend my money in the casinos and not here on the pier, so I declined to take part and keep all my internal organs where they should be. A tourist trap and attraction for small children, one feels as though they are entering Pinnochio's Pleasure Island (as my friend, Eric P, pointed out). It was a relatively pleasurable half hour out of my day, mostly because my money stayed in my pocket and I got a few decent snapshots for the vacation scrapbook. read more

We mainly went for the Ferris wheel as it was highlighted as their main attraction. Tickets were relatively cheap around $11 a piece for a 5 minute ride which took you around two times. The cars were wiped down between each usage and the employees all wore masks and gloves during the entire experience. The ride was smooth and at a nice pace which allowed us to marvel over the city lights while simultaneously looking over the moonlight ocean. All in all, a great experience for a date night, family night out, etc! read more

During this pandemic places are supposed to limit the amount of people, the pier was so crowded and required a mask when entering but most took it off while inside. Spent the weekend in AC with the family and we saw lobster rolls and other seafood items advertised at this place. When I tell you it's nothing but expensive trash I kid you not. The lobster roll was full of what looked and tasted like the can tuna version of lobster. The crab macaroni is dry like off brand box kraft macaroni and cheese with again what looked like tuna canned crab meat and I'm not talking about the lump meat. To make matters worse the girl working was a complete idiot. We are at an amusement park pier where people walk around and get on rides it's not uncommon for people to want lids on their drinks. We asked for lids for the lemonade she gave my youngest a different empty cup and lid. My oldest daughter then went to ask for a lid and they gave her one. Come to find out they didn't have lids to fit the original cups they served the lemonade in so when my daughter went back up for the cup like they gave my youngest the girls said I know the lid doesn't fit but I'm tired of people asking me for cups and giving me problems, like excuse me this is paid for. I usually don't like to call people names but again this girl was a complete disrespectful, unprofessional, useless idiot! I wouldn't return here even if I was offered to come back for free. Do not get food from this place you will be pissed all the way off. They're ignorant and the food is extremely nasty we actually trashed most of it. read more

My kids had a great time here. Unfortunately some rides were not open but if my kids had a good time, the pier accomplished its goal. I would have to say that the prices are a bit much for the quality of rides but if you purchase them at a discounted rate, it's worth it. I purchased 80 tickets through Groupon so if you have a chance to do that, do so. In addition, there were not many people when we were there so there was no wait time for riding any of the rides. This amusement pier is actually pretty entertaining, even though it's relatively small... But it's a pier. There's not gonna be acres and acres of space here... When entering, there are multiple skill type games or hustles that line both sides of the walkway... What makes me laugh the most, especially when this place is in full swing during the summer, is when the operators of these games are trying to lure people to play by being as insulting and offensive as they can without being overly insulting and offensive.. The thin skinned fall for this every time!! Walk a little further in and there are several kiddie rides and ticket booths... Walk towards the middle, and there are some thrill rides. A mini coaster, the usual pirate boat, and a few other spinning and dizzying rides.. at the end of the pier are the helicopter tours and whatever that bungy sphere is that catapults you into the air at a hundred miles per hour... Whiplash sounds great, doesn't it?!! Buy an all day pass and iyou can come and go all day between swimming on the beach and hanging at the pier... Just want a little excitement in your life, buy as many tickets as needed... Not in for any rides? The usual carnival type foods are at several concession trailers.... Oh yeah... I forgot that back in December, they opened a new climate controlled observation wheel.... This thing is huge. I think it's $15 per person. So there you have it.... I had to experience the Steel Pier once in my life just for the history. My son loved the carousel, so that was worth it. The rides here look like a good selection if not great. But compared to the offerings in Wildwood for similar piers, this falls a little short in total experience. But it's better than Coney Island. That's for sure. read more
