Large facility nestled away in a dead end. Best way ti describe this place, like a college campus. Two different building separated by a road. You cant do everything in one building but one building does have more amenities than the other... We were in the other building. What does that mean? Its winter break and we are here for the pool area. We had to drive over which means we had to drive back in the cold after being wet. I did not like this. It also meant wearing slides in the snow (cold and super wet toes!) The other building also has the shop, grilled, game area and pin pong tables! What did we have? A smaller pool area with an outdoor hot tub and the hilltop restaurant. I can share, overall we did like the smaller pool better. People were friendlier and it just felt more fun. Also, taking our little guy in the hot tub in the snow was fun! A few things that need improvement: - outdated room decor $300 a night - at check it was not shoveled and there were like 5 inches on the ground - at 10am the stairs to the pond were not shoveled (hours after the snow ended) and the benches for skate zip up is walk down a snow covered small hill into the abyss to the pond. Aka what are you walking on in skates? Is it safe? We have no idea. We ended up tredging down on foot and sitting on the ice to put our skates on. Nice amenity but not well thought out or taken care of - where is the sledding on property? We stayed in the West buildings New Year's Eve and New Year's Day is rooms 39A/B and I strongly discourage them. Both heating units are sooo long I had so sleep in the car in 20 degree temps to be able to get any sleep. The second night I drove 90 minutes home so I could get sleep and then came back. The pools are lots of fun and the food in the restaurant is good, just their mechanicals are horrid. We have stayed before, but it was during the early summer and temps were mild enough they I just shut them off. read more

Loved our room , loved the view . Ate at the hilltop restaurant for lunch and dinner . Lunch was wayyyy better than dinner . We got the sampler and it was awesome , chicken was soft and tasty , potato skins were good as well . Got chicken bacon ranch pizza and it was awesome. Got steak and cheese sandwich for dinner picked up to take back to room , also got more potato skins , steak and cheese was dry , I think it needed some dipping sauce or au jus or maybe just some mayo . My two Daughters & Granddaughter came for a girls getaway for a few days, lots to entertain a 4 yo and really, us adults had a blast playing in the pools and slides right along with her. It wasn't warm enough yet for the outdoor pools but we did use two of the playgrounds they have and certainly soaked in the views. I imagine in the Autumn it is stunning with the views of all the Mountains surrounding you. The frog pond and nets provided were fun and we caught a salamander, frog and tadpole. Lots of fun. We had menu choices picked out that sounded yummy, only to call and the restaurant not be open so no rating on the restaurant. We had a one bedroom suite which was spacious and clean on arrival. With a 4 yo we did need to vacuum up crumbs, however the vacuum was about the size of my granddaughters play vacuum but had no power to pick up any crumbs. The beds, wow, horrible. All three adults slept awful each night and woke up with backaches that are not normal for us. They seriously need to invest in better beds, for me, that would be a deal breaker on returning. You remove the garbage bags from your room to a big bin in the hallway that is communal for those rooms in that area. Although they are blue recycling bins, which I thought was really cool that they recycled, actually aren't recycling, it's for garbage. And they stunk the hallway up. At least the three days we were there. We did have a wonderful deck with chairs and a small table that we enjoyed sitting out and enjoying the air. Lastly, the stairs. Wow. I wasn't aware of the stairs. Everywhere. I have actually never been a witness to so many stairs to get around. I have some body issues on getting around but not to the point where walking or stairs affect me. I was affected. It definitely is a gorgeous huge property, Everyone we came in contact with were helpful. Wonderful options for kids to play and have a ton of fun. Stayed here 2 nights on a weekend promoting Path Vacations and attending a sales pitch. Resort is secluded, beautiful mountain views, we got a room on top floor, very quiet, clean and well kept, Mountain View. Saturday night complimentary s'mores at bonfire was very nice and Steel Hill host at fire pit was very friendly and nice. Drinks at Oasis bar were great and bartenders awesome and friendly. Comfortable atmosphere. It's next to indoor pool and hot tubs. Good guitarist, enjoyable. Mini mart and gift shop are handy. There is only one restaurant and feel it's way overpriced for the quality of food. Closest restaurants are 25-30 min drive. This place is good for families who partake in the pool, activities and bring your own food to cook in rooms or grills provided. I wouldn't buy into this Path Vacation spot. Not worth it for our needs. We sat through the sales pitch and he never even showed us around the property after we told him we didn't see the whole property at that point. Thought we would get a tour. It wasn't high pressure pitch. He did show us a huge room with a few bedrooms and bathrooms that we said we would never have the need for that size. Steele has walking trails and a bunch of family activities etc but again not worth the price for us. Plus, also irritating was we got the free trip but had to go mid week for it to be free, we had to pay $216 to go on a Friday and Saturday night. Glad I didn't take my mid week vacation time though. We got a gift bag w a few snacks in it along w a $100 dining dough card, which is bogus. It's not a typical restaurant gift card and not easy to use. read more

They used path vacations to sucker us in to stay here with a promo/discounted offer, something we saw on Instagram and applied for. It was nothing like the photos on Instagram. They put us in an outdated old run down building. Mold in the bathroom. After dinner, we left immediately. Front desk didn't care. They did nothing to help us and didn't give us a refund but we weren't going to stay in a room with mold, with our 7 month old baby. Terrible Wedding venue. Not because of the rooms or view, both were wonderful, but because of their lack of wedding planning. Ashleigh is the event coordinator who was terrible at communication, professionalism, and follow through. Her lack of experience showed and ruined a very special day. The Spa was not available and a few amenities were not allowed for use by our guests. Perhaps a nice overnight but I would not rely on them for such an important event. I was invited to stay at Steele Hill with a friend of mine who got a discount on a 3 day stay in a two bedroom suite. It was gorgeous! We came up here for a dinner party and while I didn't have much time to view the entire property (this place is HUGE) everything I saw was impressive and the restaurant had plenty of options to suit my dietary needs. I can't eat gluten and there were so many different options for me I was actually shocked. The pool area (indoor) is aesthetically pleasing with a mushroom waterfall and waterslides, and a hot tub with plenty of room. The sauna is just a few feet away. There were more pools but it was too late at night to get to enjoy the other pools. The suite had two rooms which were decently spaced and the living room had a pullout too so there was plenty of space for all four of us. I'll be staying here again soon this place is stunning. This place is a dump. I am not sure how they call it a resort. Chunks out of the kitchen counter. Room smelled. Old carpet. Gross pilling couch. Could hear every sound from unit above. We went to ask if they could move rooms and nothing else was available. We were in the dumpy section while everyone there for the weddings was not. We left and found a budget Hilton brand hotel to be so much more inviting, clean, newer and quieter. The view is the only thing going for this place. read more

Our family of four (two children 8 and 12) just finished a week stay here. Our first room was outdated and had a 4" diameter burn hole in the rug, cracked tiles and another 8" candle wax hole in front of the slider. Since there was a $200 hold on my credit card I called the front desk to report the damage. They seemed unaware of it and sent two men up to "inspect". No photos taken, just said they would email the front desk. We were moved to another outdated room. This room reeked of fish but had no burn holes in the carpet! A can of Febreeze was sent up, but the smell lingered all week. This room was better, except for the smell; however the sofa and chair were very stained and fabric was pilled. I would have expected better. On a positive note, the view was great, the front desk was responsive with what they had to work with and we had plenty of clean, fresh towels. We enjoyed the pools and playground. We were on the main floor, there was a floor above and below us. You can hear footsteps all the time; something to consider if you are a light sleeper. There are no elevators, also something to consider. The bathroom had a jacuzzi, which we wouldn't use, considering how the sofa and chair looked. For a senior, the tub might be difficult to get in and out of and there were no handrails inside the tub, just another thing to consider. The "full" kitchen was adequately stocked. Would I recommend this resort? I don't think so unless I was able to get a room that was updated. Last words of advice, check your room when you get in and call attention to any damage and review your bill when you check out to make sure you don't have any surprise charges. read more

I gave a bad review and was prompted via an automated system to reach out to Steele Hills "Director of Operations". Robert Robillard. I sent the following email 7/12. Never heard back. Followed up 7/18. Never heard back. Sent another follow up tonight. Let's see if we hear back. Here's my experience Good evening. I stayed at Steele Hill for a second time this year over the weekend. I attended the Brew with A view event on Saturday. VIP tickets cost $65 each and advertised free food. We waited in line but by the time we got close, all of the food was gone. This was at 450 the latest. The front desk never provided any information about where the event was. The VIP event started at 4pm. Which is conveniently the time you're able to check in. We missed the first twenty minutes of the event. We had no idea where it was so had to track a worker down. He directed us down a double diamond hill to get to the event. This resulted in me spraining my ankle on the way down. We requested a wheel chair or crutches at the front desk the next day. They claimed they did not have either and we were forced to purchase something at a local pharmacy. After having to fill out an incident report. This was very troublesome, having rented a suite that requires a set of super sketchy/steep stairs to get in and out of. We waited for over an hour at the hilltop restaurant Saturday night. No speaker to announce when your table was ready. No text option to let you know when your table was ready. So a ton of people are just crammed together, hoping to hear if their table was called. People were having to check in with the hostess. You could tell this was very uncomfortable for the staff, which is very unfair to them. We went to the grill for lunch the next day. The one man show making all of the food and all of this drinks was clearly overwhelmed and on edge as a result. Internet was down so we couldn't even order from hilltop through him. We had to call them ourselves and assume we were charged the $7 fee as a result. Packing up the next day, we lifted up all the blankets, sheets and mattress covers to make sure we left nothing behind. Lifting up the mattress cover presented an enormous, fresh pee stain, which explains the smell we had in our room during our stay. Was a disaster from start to finish. Upstairs room with no elevator. Zero signage that you can see at night so we were wandering around looking for our room. They advertise drinks brought to you at the outdoor hot tub but both nights we were unable to get through. Front desk just kept saying they were sorry and there was a wedding. So where do I begin. We "supposedly" won a 2 night 3 day stay. Only if you stay during the week which in turn means losing 3 days of work. So, we paid, $140 to stay Friday, Saturday night. Part of the promotion is that you're roped into a 2 hour presentation , which I must say is NOT high pressure. But we're not going to pay upwards of $18,000 plus fees & assorted other expenses. Anyways. This is a Family resort, so don't expect a kid free experience. The place is crawling with kids. If you'd like to go hiking in the woods & get eaten alive, have at it. The LOCALS think they own the place. I'm 5th generation in a tourist area that would put this place to shame. The locals like to make you feel uninvited as if they own the place which they clearly don't!!! If you're coming here, bring your wallet!!! I can stay home & have a 1000% better time. read more

Just ending my 2 day stay here. I was a little skeptical about booking here based on the reviews, but I was pleasantly suprised by the resort. I stayed in a one-bedroom suite that was a nice size, clean, and well-appointed. The couch had a lived-in feel, but it wasn't uncomfortable. The kitchen was stocked up with all the essentials and the appliances worked without issue. The king-sized bed was comfortable and the bedding was light, yet warm. Plenty of towels in the bathroom and it was well-stocked with t-p. Bar soap was missing on arrival, but I called the front desk to request 2 bars and they had it up to me in a matter of minutes. There was no housekeeping in my room while I was here because of COVID. This practice has been standard at other hotels I've stayed at during the pandemic, so I wasn't surprised or disappointed. Im certain that if I needed anything, the request would have been promptly fulfilled based on my soap experience. I ate at the restaurant a couple of times. The service was friendly and the food was fine. It's no-frills, Sysco-ish pub grub. I stuck with the sandwich fare. They serve are with a ton of crispy, well-seasoned french fries. A nice, but small selection of brews on tap. I felt satisfied with both of my restaurant visits. The hours noted on the restaurant website and paper menu were reflected in the hours they were operational during my stay. My visit occurred off-season, so the resort was quiet. It snowed, so I didn't venture out into the trails, but the grounds were well-kept. Honestly, I can see how people be upset about the time-share stuff. I was called about attending during my stay, but I declined. I didnt feel pressured to attend. The staff I interacted with were friendly and they are always cleaning or tending to the building and grounds. I would definitely come back in the off-season. I imagine this place gets pretty busy during the warmer months. The walls are thin, so I can see how some people experienced the resort as loud. Its an older building, so I wasnt completely surprised. Since I was here during a quieter season, I didnt have any issue with sounds from other guests. We were told by Multiple people that mountain biking was for beginners my son is 13 years old on the very first hill going down off the mountain bike my son had a huge rock fell off his bike and a gravel go into his knee. His knee bleed for a full day. This destroyed our trip, there's no way that trail is for beginners. I have owned a time share at Steele hill since 2005. I'm very disappointed with the room. They say they are doing extra deep cleaning do to Covid. We got into our room and it looked like it was closed up for a year with dust, cobwebs everywhere. I had to kill 2 spiders in the bathroom. It was hard not to see the water damage on the bathroom ceiling. This was the first time we stayed for a week since we owned. When we bought the unit we were told that we get the unit we were showed and that didn't happen. Just very disappointed with the upkeep of east building which in my opinion is no upkeep. From Top to bottom it was an awful experience. I would never recommend visiting this place. From the moment we arrived in a blizzard, the people at the front desk forced us to fill out paperwork through a window. The woman then said afterward, "oh we could have walked the paperwork out to you" THANKS sweetheart. The only place to eat in a 20 minute vicinity is the Hill Top restaurant. It's basically one person cooking, serving, and cleaning. How do you screw up breakfast. Not to mention the place is never open. So we have to drive 25 minutes to get something to eat. We were gifted 200 bucks on a card to spend at the restaurant. We spent 40 bucks, and they wouldn't refund the rest of the money. We couldn't use it Bc the place was NEVER OPEN!! I get that we are in a pandemic, things are a little different. But never in my life have I gone on vacation alone with my wife, and chose to leave early Bc of how lousy the resort was. We never once saw a cleaning lady. Save your money for something better, like anything else. read more

Such a great spot to get away for the weekend. Rooms were cleaned and they followed COVID guidelines to a T! Masks were worn by employees and social distancing was also in place. Facility only accepted 50% capacity. I called upon our arrival to go over what they were following and I felt 100% confident staying here. We did take our own pillows just to be safe. I also brought disenfectant spray and wipes and sprayed down as well as wiped down all surfaces and bed linens. Pool area did not have a ton of people. The indoor pool was awesome! Great spot for children. Employees were super friendly and accommodating. Smoke detector went off at 5:30am on our last day. I called the front desk just to let them know and they gave us a late check out as well as a free build a bear for our daughter. Thanks for a great stay. read more

Such a disappointment here. We came to take away time to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Extremely disappointed with the reservation, which also was wrong. After checking in, we had to call Reservations to get it corrected. I called several times between 4pm to 7pm, left messages, and no one called back. The girl at the checkin desk said she could not do anything about our reservation and that we would need to keep calling reservations. Our original reservation was supposed to be a Mountain View with the balcony and the hot tub room. We chose that room so that we could sit out on the porch, pop open a bottle of wine, and enjoy the scenery. But our view instead was of a parking lot, wrong side of the building. We paid for the hot tub room and got a whirlpool tub instead. If they say this is a jacuzzi, they are mistaken and incorrectly advertising as a hot tub/jacuzzi. Since we were stuck with the whirlpool tub, because reservations would not call back, we tried using it. Well, when filling the whirlpool with water, as soon as we turn on the jets, a brown product came out all in the water. It was disgusting and so we had to stop using it and drain the tub. Then that brown stuff came with a horrible odor. We called the front desk to report about the brown substance coming from the whirlpool and the odor with it. The girl said she would send someone up to fix it. I said no because it was after 9pm and would require more than someone to fix it. It would require someone to clean the jets as well. We asked to be moved to another room instead but she said no she could not do that. I asked to speak with the manager or on call manager. She said they had gone home earlier and no one was available. The shower was also filthy with a substance on the floor of it. The tiny refrigerator had a frozen freezer shelf with no room to place anything into it. The king room in the South building was very small with no desk or any place to put our luggage. The bathroom was extremely small with a light that was dead. The room is completely lousy. The TV was tucked into the corner making it impossible to watch TV, so we didn't. The room did not have a desk to sit at to plan the day. The room was very small with very little room to move around and absolutely no place to store our luggage. Once you are here, apparently you are stuck if your room sucks, which ours did. We should have a full refund and be allowed to check out. No elevator in the buildings. If you have a lot of luggage, ask front desk for help. Even though no one called us back to following morning, we did get a full refund for the 3 days we were supposed to be there. It was a lousy shame that our trip ruined because of the terrible management of Steel Hill. Legionnaires Disease has been known to start from issues like what we experienced here. I do not recommend anyone visit this place. Go someplace else. read more

Made a reservation online and received a call that there was a glitch in the system and they couldn't accommodate my 2 room suite request but would put me in a 1 bedroom. Ummm no! Not happening with 2 adults and 2 teenage kids. So they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom suite in the south building, except it wasn't a 2 bedroom. What we actually got were 2 separate hotel rooms separated by a vestibule/foyer with 2 doors that only opened by key cards. The rooms weren't even adjoining by one door. Instead, one hotel room door lead to a one bedroom with a kitchen, living room and bathroom. Hotel room door 2 lead to a second bedroom with a bathroom. We got 2 separate "hotel" rooms but booked a 2 bedroom suite that was supposed to be 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and living room. Ok... Huge false advertising... You can only access the 2 rooms by using key cards, they were by NO means attached. We propped the doors upon to create the illusion of one fluent suite with 2 bedrooms but this clearly was not the case. Then, to make matters worse, there were no deadbolts or additional locks on the main door to the faux 2 bedroom suite. So the only lock was by key card only... Then we received a high pressure sales call early morning regarding the 90 minute time share presentation. No thanks! We ate in the Tova bar twice and the meals for 4 took over two hours both times (eye roll). The restaurant was severely understaffed. The food was ok though. read more

I came here with my kids for winter school vacation week and we came because of their pool with slides (I thought the kids could play while I watch them and relax); however you can only stay at that pool for 90 minutes and then they make you leave. We did not know about this until we got here (I did not see any of this information on their web site). On the third day of our stay our bathroom and kitchen got flooded by a leak from the sealing. We went to the front desk to let them know. There were three people sitting at the front desk, they all looked at us like we had three heads and the only thing they said in response was "what do you want us to do about it?" We asked if someone could, please, come and help us clean it up as there was a lot of water on the bathroom and kitchen floor. They never sent anyone that day and did not offer for us to switch rooms. Eventually we needed to make dinner and ended up using bathroom towels to clean up all the water and it took almost 2 hours. Maintenance came over the next morning, only after we went to the front desk again, and didn't do anything. Nobody in the office would do anything (not even an apology for inconvenience). I wrote them an email and they said that they would give us $40 off the night that we got flooded. We NEVER got the $40 off! (I do have pictures and video of the damage, but can not figure out how to post them) This is not a problem for us, but we just didn't know the information. We brought food for breakfast and lunch with us but thought it would be a treat to go out to dinner (as we really do not dine out much). Well: all restaurants are closed on Wednesday (even on school vacation week). The closest thing to us is 15 minutes away and the road (in and out of the hotel) is not lit, nothing is lit until you get on the highway. Winter and it gets dark early and and it is really hard to drive, even with high beams on (again, not really a problem as we went out earlier in the day and got groceries and made dinner). read more

I came to Steele Hill on the same day after checking out of fabulous Smugglers Notch, VT where I had a 950 s.f. 1 BR with full ktichen, washer and dryer, large deck facing 210 degree views of the mountain and it's fall foliage on the mountain, and the swimming pool slide. So it was a big downgrade to stay in a small motel room with view of the parking lot and microwave and coffee pot for cooking. My check in experience started the stay on the wrong foot. The young girl at the desk could only say "I don't know" to my every question, to the point that I felt compelled to say "You sound like you are NEW!" She said "I am, I've been here 3 weeks". There was no one to help her. Then when I got to my room, I found my keys did not work. There I met the lady who was checking in same time as me. She told me she hauled all her luggage up to the third floor and discovered she had been given the keys to the wrong room, too. I call, and someone brings me the right keys to another room. Later I was told it was not the girl's fault as the resort changes rooms on people all the time, and the computer is slow at updating. But sending two guests in a row, to the wrong rooms? I don't think that is acceptable good service. Probably not the new girl's fault, I am not blaming her. Other than my first day check in experience, the concierge in the same building, was very friendly in helping me decide what to do for the 3 days I was there. It rained a lot one day. First day I went to town to buy groceries at WalMart and eat lunch. I went to Fryeburg Fair ME Sat (don't go on a Sat, soooo crowded), took me 3 hours to drive there. Third day I walked 3 of the trails on the resort (weather wasn't great). Their onsite restaurant was very expensive, like $32 for HALF a rack of St. Louis Style ribs, when the Smugglers Notch onsite restaurant was $21 for FULL RACK of same ribs, and it was delicious! Other tables were complaining about the price of the ribs, too. And $12 for little container of mac and cheese. But somehow I was given a $20 gift card with my room keys. They had prime rib Sat night for $22, so I used it for that. I was a large piece and rare, but COLD, not even warm. I sent it back and they warmed it a bit but it took a long time, so that they brought my sides back cold too. I ate cold. Town is 30 min drive away, if you wanna eat elsewhere. I only ate here because of the $20 gift card. So, I cooked in my room canned sardines, and canned veggies the other two nights. Only two electrical outlets for 3 appliances, I kept having to unplug and plug in behind the cabinet. I wish they would put a power strip back there, and I told them so, when I checked out. They brought me dishes and utensils. The bed in my room was quite comfortable and I enjoyed the large jacuzzi tub in my room, large enough for two. Never stayed in a hotel with jacuzzi tub in same room. I did not use any of the amenities such as pool or exercise room. Also the fall foliage at Steele Hill, NH, and surrounding area, just wasn't as fabulous as Smugglers Notch area in VT. I really came here because I had points left over from Smugglers Notch that were going to expire for good Nov 1, and my 4 nights at Steele Hill cost only 12,500 timeshare points. It was a sale. I was told at the check in counter my little hotel room would cost $250 a night for the days that I stayed, but I see it on Hotels.com for $126 a night. So overall my experience was really 2 stars, it fits the description Yelp gives for 2 stars "Meh, I've experienced better". Yes, I gave Smugglers Notch experience 5 stars and I can't wait to go back. Steele Hill Resort is comprised of 3 buildings, South, West & East. We stayed in the West building for a week as a time share trade (through Interval). I can only comment on that building. We were placed in a two bedroom unit, 608 and 609. 1) the carpet was filthy 2) the unit was not properly cleaned: utensils and dishes had crusted food 3) piece of broken glass on bathroom floor ( I cut my foot on it) 4) the living room couches looked like something picked up at a garage sale 6) children running down the hallway above living/dining area sounded like the ceiling was coming down (no joke) Reservations moved us after two nights. Our 2nd unit was in 2A/B. 1) this is a two story unit, with THIRTY-FIVE stairs from the parking lot to the main living area (no elevator). I'm sure there are some positive things to say about this resort, but I couldn't get past the problems with the units to find them. read more

Comfortable rooms well appointed with great beds and bathroom. We stayed in a 2 person Western suite but bigger suites with kitchens available if you want to cook or have a bigger family. We got food from a Market Basket in Titlton before driving to the resort and had a fridge and microwave available. Indoor pool and spa pool is fantastic, something for both kids and adults. Had coffee dessert at the hilltop restaurant with equally scrumptious view of the lakes and mountains. Very quiet! Relaxing and a perfect get away only a 2 hour drive from Boston. read more

We went to Whale's Tale Water Park at the end of June, 2021, and filled out a wining contest form of some kind of free stay. One month later, I got a call from Steele Hill vacation club stating we were selected to take an exclusive promotion of 3 days/2 nights free staying at their resort. In order to receive the free staying, my family and I are required to pay $59 deposit upfront, and then take a 90-120 mins tour at the resort; at the end of the stay, I will have the $59 back. After I verbally consented to pay the $59, they emailed me the confirmation letter. Later I shared my news with multiple friends and did the research online; I found out that the tour is all about getting people to buy their timeshare. I learned that they sugarcoat all their promotions and packages. The reality is you are paying a lot more money than you expected for vacations. People like me who easily fall into their offers definitely will change the mind during that 90 mins tour. I learned that those tours are very pressure/ intrusive/lots of personal information are being asked. So I called them 2 days later to cancel the reservation. Of course, I won't get my $59 back. I am writing this review not to hoping get the money back, but to share with you, so that many of you won't fall into the scam and lose $59.00 or even much more. read more
