2nd year in a row we were terribly disappointed. Not worth the money. Pool left all 17 of our crew with rashes all over our bodies (especially the kids). The service is awful. Nobody knows anything. It seems to be ran by a bunch of kids. The restaurant was even worse than it was last year. Completely understaffed. Waited 2 hours for hour meals and we were the only ones in the place! Waited so long nobody was even hungry anymore and all they did was give us 25% off the bill. On the bill it actually said "Unhappy Guest". Like a magic button to solve a situation. No manager or supervisor was on site to speak too. There is no magic button to ever make all of us stay there ever again. Oh...and we didn't have pool towels all weekend. None. Had to bring the ones we used for 2 days in our room (that weren't replaced). read more

We are staying here with 4 kids and we lost power in the middle of dinner all the kids are hungry and the food is 1/2 cooked and they said at least 1 hour until the power comes back on. NIGHTMARE. And it's only raining outside. read more

We stayed for week. The cleaning staff was always cleaning something. The ground crew the same. Everything was pristine. Tony had no idea I took thus photo at first. Nice resort in the local New Hampshire area. The indoor pools - complete with waterslides and spa tubs - is a HUGE PLUS (especially during chilly winter weather). Arrive to the pool area early to reserve chairs because they go fast. The workout room is small and the machines are somewhat dated. This is compensated by the free weights, exercise balls and other equipment. HINT: Ask the staff for the key to the observatory to enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding area. It was a great experience until we went to the hill restaurant, since the moment we sat down the waitress started complaining with the bartender about us and we felt so uncomfortable, she came over asking us if we're gonna order food or not but didn't even had menus, then she told us if you're not gonna eat here then go downstairs. I would like to say that my family has been owners at Steele Hill for the past 40 years, I have never had a problem with anything up until now. I paid my dues for last year and booked a family vacation for this year for the end of July, but because we haven't paid the dues for this year, they are telling us that we can't come up for the week. I asked on how to get rid of the timeshare, they are telling me it is up to us to sell it. Buyer Beware, don't by a timeshare you can never get rid of it. Timeshares are a dying bred, and just trying to get your money. Believe me there are better places for cheaper money to stay at for the week. 0/5 So I stayed here years ago with family and it was amazing! I raved about it to everyone and was super excited when I got invited to a wedding being held here this weekend. The only good thing about it this time was the large pool in the larger part of the hotel. Absolutely nothing else. On our first night there I didn't go to a lot of the before wedding events as I was just a guest and not in the party so I spent my downtime in the room. While I was unpacking and trying to relax, I realized not all of the jets in the whirlpool tub worked, so it was like a 50% enjoyable time there. I also then found out that not all the outlets in the room worked so I had a tough time charging my phone as I had to keep moving it around to find one that worked. Even some of the lamps with the USB slots didn't even turn on/work. As that was happening I would turn lights on/off as I needed and I kept getting shocked by the switches and outlets that I touched. - at this point, I called the front desk because I needed to make sure the other guest and I could safely get ready for the wedding the next day. No apologizes, but they did send a maintenance man who came and just pushed down on the outlets and switches trying to replicate the shocks even though I told him it didn't happened every time, just randomly I would be yelling at an electrical shock that caught me off guard. Throughout the stay, we also realized that the TV and the mini fridge would turn off on their own and just not work randomly even when "on". Again I assume the outlets are to blame for that and they had no answers for it, even when I asked if anyone else had complained of similar issues. After the wedding, we went back to our room ready for bed because checkout was early in the morning and as I shut the last light off, I again was shocked, so loud that my guest on the other side of the room heard the shock and immediately called down to the front desk to say that this was still occurring. Again, not an apology, just a "we can send a man up to check" - that wasn't really an option as we were going to bed and pushing on outlets again wouldn't rectify the situation I kept going through. I assume they were fully booked, but nothing was ever offered in a way to accommodate me or the other guest in the room. I know things happen, and not everything is going to be perfect, but for the money that was spent to stay here, we definitely deserved at the bare minimum, a SAFE room, which I don't feel like we got. As we checked out, we mentioned all of the issues again as I'm sure the next guest in that room wouldn't like to deal with the same issues that we dealt with, and again, no apology, just a "we'll send someone to check before the next guest" ...I honestly think they need to keep the room blocked off for now and attempt to figure out the electrical issues because $200+ a night is not cheap, and for that price, guests at least deserve the television to work and to not be electrocuted throughout their stay. Also, I would stay away from the weekend buffet breakfast in the restaurant. I took one bite of the scrambled eggs and immediately spit them out all over my plate. It was like a mix of oil and vomit taste. $40+ wasted on disgusting food. read more

*Disclaimer, I do not work here, this is just overall an amazing spot* Stayed from 11/2-11/4 in 2012. I've never been to a place so accommodating. The weekend ended with me going into the ER for a dislocated shoulder; but the staff gave me some extra checkout time since I didn't get to sleep all night. We stayed in South, and the whirlpool tub is a blessing to have; the beds were beyond comfortable. The wait-staff at the restaurant were very personal, and catered to us from top to bottom. Being from the city, it was a little bit of a culture shock driving to Steele Hill at night, since we're so used to having an abundance of streetlights. Even with the indoor pool closed, the other one tied with a sauna and a jacuzzi was just as refreshing; not to mention, the complimentary day passes to the Summit resort. Overall, a 6 out of 5, the decor was just right; and a perfect place for a getaway for the ultimate relaxation. I usually don't write reviews because, frankly, it's too much typing; but Steele Hill definitely deserves it. I just wanted to know one thing...what kind of pillows and mattress do you use in South? Just checked out of this resort...in all it was okay. Wouldn't go out of my way to tell people about it. Upon check we had no do not disturb sign, no trash can and no extra blankets. Went to dinner at the tavern and our waitress was very nice but the food was cold when it got to us and nothing to be too excited about. It just confirmed my decision on not planning at wedding there. The main poop area was good and had lots of option for children, however there were not chairs in the gaming area, so we were forced to sit on the floor. The bar in that area made good drinks but were $40 for 2. These drinks I could make myself for a lot cheaper. My final conclusion on this place is if you're going to go for an outdoor winter adventure everyday without spending much time in the resort then it's a great place for you. If you're going to relax and enjoy I wouldn't recommend. I will not be staying here again and probably won't recommend it. read more

We were forced to book a double room for me, my husband and my 3 children. The room upstairs slept 6 comfortably. We were there with 5. No reason other then greed to make us pay for 2. I even asked to stay upstairs because my family was too separated. We had to run up and down Stairs to share our personal items. Huge pain. We were ignored when we told them we didn't need the bottom floor. Paid double price for a big unnecessary pain in the bum. We were told there was a bar and restaurant too. Our first day there bar and restaurant were closed. We hadn't brought food as we were dependent on their facilities being open. Dehydrated and starving took us hours to find something open in town. This resort could care less. Never even brought us towels. We each had ONE for the 3 days we were there. I think it was so so overpriced for how we were treated and what we received. We paid a ridiculous amount of money. So wish we bypassed this resort and stayed somewhere ANYWHERE else. View was nice. Only good thing I can say. read more

We bought into the vacation club / time share they offer about a year ago and my family and I Absolutly love it! Stayed about a month ago for a week and got the 2 bedroom. The room had a full kitchen, huge livingroom, 3 full baths, jacuzzi in the master bedroom, and it had amazing views. Our only downside was that someone broke the slide in the kiddie pool and it was closed our entire stay. Even though we came for our sons third birthday and that little pool was the main reason we stayed we still had an amazing week. The girl at the front desk said they would call us and make up for it but they never did. That's the main reason for not giving this review a full 5 stars. Pretty upset about that. read more

A horrible resort! I can't believe how much we spent on such a awful room. We were in a room away from the main building, a newer addition I suppose. Every time we needed ice, we had to walk all the way to the restaurant to get ice (no ice buckets either), they really should install ice machines! One night we decided it would be nice to sit in the indoor spa but it was packed, so we opted to use the one in our bedroom, we turned on the jacuzzi and BLACK residue was spewing from the jets! it was gross! We decided not to go that route either and drained the jacuzzi, after it drained a black rim was all around the tub. Can't be sanitary! The bed sheets were dirty as well. Food at the restaurant is also very unappetizing. One night (2am) someone was pounding on our main door (there's 2 doors to get into our room). He was pounding for a good 30 minutes without stopping, we called the front desk multiple times and they never sent anyone out to make the man stop! We flew all the way from San Diego for this mess of a place. read more

I recently stayed here and was let down from the moment I pulled in. The parking situation is insufficient for the resort, the really more parking spots closer to the doors to unload my bags, it's too far of a wall. No one even came out to help me as I was clearly struggling. I called ahead asking for early check in and they said they would do their best to accommodate but when I arrived I was denied early check in. The resort it self is "ehhhh ok" I wouldn't recommend it and suggest check out somewhere else. I didn't walk away thinking "wow that was an amazing experience." The management is rude, unaccommodating, and lazy. They didn't make me feel special or appreciate for staying with them. Where has the hospitality gone these days? The manager tried to make me wrong in his reply note, but I will take a polygraph test or swear on a stack of Bibles that 100% of what I wrote was true in my review from 8/12/12. Let me repeat in sum: Steele Hill Resort has a BEAUTIFUL VIEW of the lake and lovely grounds. Yes, do go for the day or weekend, why not? Just be VERY WARY of your timeshare meeting. Seriously, we felt as if we were in CrazyLand, the way they operated. Plus, as I wrote earlier, we really were unhappy jiggling old keys into doors struggling to get into our room, no A/C in bedroom (and no window!), and the serious bee problem on the deck, and massively understaffed all over (45 minutes to check out!). Other than that, the view still rocks out. But we will NOT return because of the CrazyWorld feeling from the management. read more

We stayed for 2 nights in the 1 Bedroom South Vista Suite. It was excellent. There's a full kitchen with granite countertops and perfectly working appliances (fridge, range, microwave and dishwasher.) It was absolutely spotless. The dishwasher was completely stocked with lots of mugs, glasses, plates and utensils, even a whisk and potato peeler. The drawers had serving spoons, ladles, masher, corkscrew, you name it, casserole dishes baking dishes and measuring cup, frying pans and sauce pans. There was a coffee machine with some Starbucks coffee and sugar. The refrigerator was spotless. There's even a washer and dryer. The living room is excellent with a pull out sofa/bed, two sitting chairs, coffee table, a wall switch fireplace and big screen TV. Again spotless. The condition of all the rooms was outstanding. There's also another widescreen TV in the bedroom and a comfortable large bed. Both HD TVs have Dish TV and DVD players! The furniture is great, the bed is comfortable the bathroom seemed like brand new. There's a balcony with a great view that has sliders going out to it from the living room and the bedroom. Everything was like new and did I mention spotless? You could just about find a speck of dust at all. Definitely warm and relaxing. We went in January so can't say anything about the outdoor pools, but the indoor one is great, with a lot of room and a slide. Just outside the pool area there's a little lounge with a working fire place. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back. read more

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere, it is run down but they try to make it look nice with some paint. The bathroom must be from 1970. The room I had was upstairs and I had to carry some heavy bags up 2 flights of stairs no elevators. The pool and the gym close at 10 pm . If you want to go anywhere you can't use your GPS or you'll lend up in the woods on a dirt road , no complementary coffee either they charge you 1.50 to use the coffee machine ... read more

Do you like breakfast during the week? This is not the place! Do you to eat or drink on Wednesdays? Again, not here! There is one restaurant on the resort in the springtime and it is not open on Wednesdays. It only serves breakfast in the weekends. You are a solid 20 minutes away from restaurants. I was lucky to have a room near the restaurant, but it did not matter, as it was never open. We unfortunately had to drive to the nice pool seen in all the photos. This pool was perfect for our kids and the family we were with. This was easily the best part of our vacation. The resort as a whole is very run down. We could hear people all around our room and thought the people upstairs were going to fall through the ceiling. It irritated us, but I also figured they were just as bored as we were. We booked 3 nights, and only stayed two. I understand the spring is not the best getaway time in New England, but we were bored out of our minds on a rainy Wednesday and 90 minute pool limit. I doubt we will ever be returning. read more

Hi. How can I even start off with this place. I'm extremely livid and upset. I have wrote many reviews before but this is place has effected me personally. I have stayed here before and there was not any issues I can remember, it was a while ago. We check into this place and start to drive towards the condo we are staying at. First thing viewed is the amount of ice and snow blocking parking spots. I mean Christ, there was barely even a place to park close. Going up and down the stairs I almost slipped multiple times because of the amount of ice and snow. Imagine I slipped and broke open my head? Not very safe. But that part does not even look as bad comparing to other things. Let me just say, the staff members weren't bad. Honestly, we barely even talked to them. So we walk into the pool building and immediately even being in the pool and coming out after especially our (my family and I) skin is breaking out in rash and hives. It made our skin so itchy and irritated. Even our faces were all bumpy. But that part isn't even worst part. The hair after. I have showered 3 days in a row after going in the pool once and have conditioned the ends separately 6 times and my hair still reeks of chlorine and feels absolutely disgusting. This is absolutely ridiculous. My skin has broken out and my hair is absolutely awful. My hair is excruciatingly damaged and I am extremely upset. I could cry about this. It completely ruined the ends of my hair. And let's talk about how the toilet paper provided was dirty too and how there were dishes in the dishwasher. Not so professional hm? Staff should feel ridiculed working at this hog house. They should be paying for a hair appointment and skin facial for me. And I also had to use so much product to try and fix this as well, but behold it hasn't worked yet. Honestly F you. F you. This is not ok. I recommend to NOBODY. Thank you for your time. read more

Brought the family up for two days. Our room was perfect! Plenty of room for all five of us. Totally stacked with cups plates dishes and even had a dishwasher ... The pool on the west side was awesome... The Steele Hill Resort is a great value hotel near the White Mountain area of New Hampshire. It is a bit off the beaten path, but it's got a nice view of Lake Winnepesaukee and the surrounding area. From here it's about 40 minutes to Gunstock and other resorts in the White Mountains, and maybe 20-30 minutes up to Lincoln and the Flume Gorge. The place is easy enough to find, but Google Maps and some GPSes will mess you up, so make sure to get the correct directions from their website! There are two main areas, the southern one being older, and the northern buildings being newer. Hence, they have just about two of everything - two outdoor pool areas, two indoor pool areas, two kiddie playgrounds, two game rooms (but only one restaurant). Plenty of parking all over the grounds. PROS The resort is amazingly well-appointed and well-kept for the prices they charge. The rooms are impossibly generous with space, and all outfitted with Wi-Fi, large flat-panel TVs with cable, air conditioning and sofa beds. Each unit features what amounts to a full kitchen, with a sink, stove, microwave, dishwasher and oven. There are also a number of BBQ grills outside you can use. Nice scenic campus and is nice to walk around on. They've got a lot of stuff to do there with swimming pools, golf, a tennis court, ping pong, an arcade, you get the idea. The newer, glass-encased pool area is modern with a decent size water slide. This is perfect for kids under 10 years old, and keep them entertained for hours. They've also got a 2' wading pool with cascading water and a small water slide for toddlers. There is a huge hot tub, which is as big as some small pools, a sauna, and lots of plastic chairs to lay around in. The $49 weekday special is ridiculous. Two nights in a room with a $40 gift certificate to the restaurant thrown in. Are you kidding me??? Sign me up! CONS Check-in is not until 4PM, so make sure you're ready for that. Check-out is at 10AM, which is fine. If you're staying here for any length of time, I'd recommend bringing your own food or planning to eat somewhere else. We went during lunch time to the on-campus restaurant, and while the food wasn't bad, it wasn't cheap and they were understaffed; we had to wait quite some time to eat. The selection was mostly fried food and sandwiches, not much above an Applebee's or something, though they do hand-cut their fries and onion rings. You can find some places out on route 3 about 15 minutes away to eat. There are quite a few bugs around these parts, so bring your insect repellent! Some things, like the arcade and pool tables, are pay per play, and can get pretty expensive. Overall, I'd say this resort is a little bit understaffed, though the people are helpful enough. read more

Went here for a ski getaway with my bf, hoping to discover some off-the-beaten-path gem. The website for this place looked too good to be true for the price that they charge, and it kind of is. But this place still has plus and minuses. Overall I would recommend it for a family vacation, not the romantic getaway. I think there's a pretty big variety in the rooms-- and ours was pretty campy, like it hadn't been updated since the 70's. Our bed was way too soft. That said, the best part of this place aren't the rooms.. it's everything else. The resort premises are beautiful, overlooking the lake, and there are a ton of activities. Kids will love the huge glassed-in, indoor pool area with slides and waterfalls. There is an outdoor pond turned skating rink with fire pits for marshmallow roasting. And for $5 you can rent snowshoes and they'll supply you with trail maps. Gunstock Ski Resort is closeby. I recommend this as a very affordable getaway for families. read more

Upon arriving, the staff was warm and friendly, the bag of snacks was a big plus after 3 hours of traveling. We were given a list of activities but it was for dates that had already passed. I was disappointed to see that the resort was NOT accessible to the handicap. No elevators and a ton of stairs, didn't see any ramps either. The views were amazing and the room was nice, but during "off season" when there is no live music, no laser tag and nothing really exciting going on during the week, there should at very least, be working arcade games. The air hockey and foosball tables were out of order and other than the pool area it was honestly rather boring considering we traveled 6 hours round trip to be there. We were also disappointed there was no complimentary breakfast and limited breakfast items in the market for purchase. All of the milk in the market was passed expiration date and one carton was broken and leaking on the other bottles. At this point we are not certain if we would travel for a return visit or not, but definitely wouldn't be interested in buying any sort of vacation time-share based on this experience alone. read more

They put a hold of 200 on my account and till today( thursday) the money is not back on my account yet. First, beautiful location! But be forewarned this is not where you come for a romantic quiet weekend. This is a family resort, no two ways about it. The condo rooms are odd. You walk up a flight of stairs to get to the front door. Then you open the door to your unit and walk down stairs to get to one bedroom, and then up a flight of stairs to get to the living area. We stayed in West which seemed dated but clean - the condo had everything we needed except a teapot - and it connected us to the big pool and gym which was handy. One thing that was not good was the hallways always smelled like someone had just cooked fish - it was just awful, and packs of kids were constantly running up and down the hallway (I am guessing to the pool and back to their rooms) which was really loud. The big pool was so loud and crowded when we were there - there was not a chair to be found and families must have camped out the whole day - I was constantly stepping on wet Goldfish crackers and the like - they should not allow food on the pool deck. It's pretty gross. I will say there were lots of people with multiple body piercings and tattoos the week we were here, and not much Lilly Pulitzer, LL Bean and Ralph Lauren - typically I am used to the latter, not that it was ever a problem, but just temper your expectations. We rented for a week and 1/2 through the stay we had our towels refreshed and beds made. I would have been happy if they would have run a vacuum through the unit, but they didn't. The Hilltop for Sunday brunch was very mediocre. It's $13.95 for adults and $8.95 for kids, so not outrageous except it isn't that great. Three of us ordered tea and the little pots the water was brought in actually had a layer of dust on them. The omelet station was good, the other hot buffet food was okay - scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles - several lunch options too. The pastries were not great. The only drinks you get with your meal are coffee and tea - everything else is a la carte. The view is amazing, so if you convince yourself that's what you are actually paying for, you'll probably be happy. I thought the front desk staff was nice, but could be slightly more knowledgeable about things to do. Every time I asked they suggested the outlet mall or the Funspot arcade. This area in April isn't that exciting. The resort's hiking trails were very muddy, and most local attractions are not open until May. It was a nice change of scenery for a week, but I would not suggest going during mud season. read more

I "won" a trip with Steele Hill resorts at a hockey game. I just got a call from a woman who asked my age, cirizenship status, and household income, then told me I had won a discounted night for $69, for which I would need to do a "tour" of the property, and then I would get a prize of a vacation at one of their properties. After reading more about this so called vacation from people reviewing them online, no thanks. I had been super excited to go, as the pictures look lovely, but this is not a time share spiel I shall be attending. Edit: after getting slightly nasty messages from people whom I can only assume are employees of this place, I stand by my review. No, I did not go to this resort. My review is based on my interaction with their representative on the phone, and the (no exaggeration) four times daily phone calls from this facility until I blocked their number. read more

Pro's: pool for kids , good working room heat, room was clean, drinks weren't too pricey, they put in a baby gate for us, privacy in rooms, nice mountain veiw Con's: Subtle assumptions when it came to them trying to get us to buy a timeshare. Strike 1. We had to tell them what we do for work. Ok, she questioned my husband 3x what type of property management he did. Once he told her our annual income she piped down. I was not asked what type hairstylist I was? I could be an owner or behind the chair. It was weird and I tried to not think she badgered him about his job in presumption he didn't have a great one because he is a man of color. ***We shrugged it off and proceeded downstairs Strike 2. We got an older man who just had a stroke. Fine, he was sweet. Upon leaving, his supervisor pulled us aside and asked if he was able to articulate the time share well. Hmm after the first thing mentioned above, were they not banking on us buying and gave us someone they weren't sure was up to par yet? Hmm ok, we shrugged that off too, let's not jump to conclusions. STRIKE 3. My kids and I were in the resort and low and behold.... The only other interracial couple walks by us .... And guess who's doing their sales tour ????? Yup .... You guessed, the same guy we had been questioned about. Now, if strike 1 and 2 never happened... Collectively I'd still shrug it off. But I'm not stupid. I guess New Hampshire is Trump Voter racist trash and so is the Steele Hill resort. I bumped into a sales woman I saw in the hallway and explained to her exactly what I wrote here and although she apologized and denied, we received no follow up or anything. Oh , and one more thing.... They nickel and dime you on pool towels like they are made of woven gold. No one is going to steal your crappy tiny pool towels Steele Hill ! And for Christ sake, would you insulate the G damn hallway's? You have to walk through to go to the pool and you can see your breath literally in the hallway. They even charge a 1.25 for a cup of coffee in the check in area. Even holiday inn has free coffee. The pool so was sooooo chlorinated to the point all of us were itchy and your eyes burn when you walk in. Will not be going back and would never invest $12k into their crappy resort. read more

My fiance, myself and two other couples recently rented a townhouse at Steele Hill Resort for a friend's wedding, which was also being held at the resort. The price for the 3 couples was very reasonable, and the accommodations were wonderful. The townhouse very comfortably housed 6 people, between the "master bedroom area" upstairs and the other bedroom downstairs. There was a full kitchen in the downstairs section, complete with a dishwasher and microwave. It was fully stocked; you could live there all summer. When we arrived there on a Friday night, (after taking some not paved and bumpy back-woods roads) we stopped at the base of the hill to check in. We were given keys and a map. This is where I will mention that the customer service was lack-luster. The attendant gave us instructions so fast our head was spinning, and her tone was sharp. After we checked in, we headed to the restaurant for dinner, around 7:30 pm. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. The rehearsal dinner had also been going on at this time but had wound down, so we were wondering what took so long. The food took a long time to come out as well, but was hot and delicious when we got it. The waitress looked rather frazzled so we were somewhat sympathetic. We knew ahead of time about the indoor pool and slide, and went there immediately after dinner. Aside from the wedding, this was the best part of the trip. The slide is AMAZING and faster then you think it will be. The hot tub was large and a comfortable temperature. We spent the end of the day Friday, and a large portion of Saturday in the pool (it was unusually warm outside for October). The wedding ceremony was great; the weather and the landscape were perfect. I know the bride and groom were satisfied and that's the most important part. We had a blast and I would recommend the place to anyone. I gave 3 out of 4 stars because of the customer service flaws. I mentioned 2, but there were a bunch of others that soured the mood a bit. We just had a wonderfull vacation at this resort. We had a 2 bed, one bedroom on the floor that u enter into the complex with a hall leading down to the other bedroom where there is a kitchen and livingroom and bath. This unit was very comfortable. The pools were fantastic. One indoor pool had a nice size slide for the kids great family pool. The other indoor pool is right beside a huge outdoor olympic size pool over looking the mountain with a poolside bar. And there is another outdoor pool that i saw but didnt go in.Lots of lounge chairs. Cooking facilites had an outdoor grill, which was clean except the grease catcher was full. Which should have been changed. But i am not going to deduct a star for that. They clean and change the towels daily and empty the trash. Small pond for the kids to catch fish. There is a little stoor if u want to buy a pretend fishing rod, that actually cast. You can rent movies . 3 tvs in our unite. Final word, if your looking for a great place to stay. We spent 3 nights during Thanksgiving Week 2013. Spacious and clean 2bd / 2b townhouse with fantastic views of Lake Winnisquam (or was it Lake Winniepesaukie). Tova's Tavern was empty, but the food was good and reasonable. Service was good too. The resort is centrally located and within 30-45 minutes of beautiful "lake" towns (Meredith - found an incredible deal on winter boots there!!) and skiing (Mt Sunapee). Overall and despite the very cold weather (and rain/light snow on one day) the trip was enjoyable and relaxing. The indoor pool and 'splash zone' was a big hit with my 7 year old son and me too! Best of all I used a Groupon deal to get a real steal on the lodging costs! read more

An awesome place to take your family. Really fun pool area with HUGE indoor pool, kids pool and jacuzzi. Ping pong tables and pool tables as well in the recreation area. Really beautiful area too. Nice rooms that are definitely the older New England style, so don't expect brand new hotel like experience, but it is still very nice. Big TVs and nice beds. Try to request a room next to the pool if you are going to be using it as some rooms are literally a drive away. I wouldn't recommend the Hilltop Restaurant that is part of the hotel though. The food was ok but pretty expensive for what it is. Overall I am very happy we came up here for a couple of days. read more

my wife and I checked in Dec 31 2022 for a week stay . I am a timeshare owner of a unit in florida. since 2008 we have stayed at Steele hill 15 times. In the beginning it was great. everything was perfect. Recently, though, this place has gone downhill and it just keeps getting worse. a few years ago we had a mouse in our unit that got into our food. maintenace put down some traps but it took a few days before the mouse was caught. another time we went to their website and learned that the pool would be shut down for a week for yearly maintenance. we booked a week before they closed the pool yet when we checked in we were told the pool was closed for maintenance, we asked what happened and they said the company could come earlier than expected. we were offered no refund. last november we checked in and the silverware was dull as hell and no can opener to open cans. One night as we were watching TV in our pajamas we heard voices in the downstairs bedroom. I carefully went downstairs to find that the maintenance man was in our room and never announced himself. he claimed to smell smoke in the basement so why was he in our room? needless to say we feared for a safety and wondered if the guy would come back as we slept. We checked into this resort on december 31 for a week stay. the pool was extremely crowded and even though there is a sign stating no children under 16 in the hottub there was at least 8 youngster in the hottub playing and splashing without any adult supervision. that was on sunday, on monday the hot tub felt cold and I asked about it at the desk, the girl said she would check with the front desk. On tuesday the crowds were gone but the big pool room was cold as well as the hot tub. when I complained I was told the issue with the hot tub was an ongoing issue, on wednesday we drove down the hill to use the other hot tub which is nothing but a home owner style tub built for 4 people. thankfully my wife and I were the only ones there. on thursday I flushed the toilet in the room only to see the water a color of diarrhea. The water from the tap and shower was the same color. we called the front desk and was told that Maintenace was working on a main waterline. seeing as we couldn't take a shower we checked out within an hour. As i said, we have been at that resort 15 times over the years but we will never go back. this resort is well outdated and rundown. good luck to you if you decide to go there. read more

Not sure where to start but here goes...First, PLEASE read all the bad reviews not just here but on TripAdvisor and Travelocity too. We checked in on Friday night for a weeks stay, ended up leaving by 10 Monday morning, I was almost in tears. I was so exited to finally get away from home for a few days only to find this place is pathetic. Here are the negatives I agree with: Tons of stairs, some which don't seem safe, and no elevators. Not every room has a nice view. We were in the East building, first floor. Our "view" was a dirt service road that had maintenance vans going up and down it all day, cut down trees and a bunch of stumps, and a small patch of woods. In order to see the mountains you have to lean over the railing and look to the left or right. The condition of the indoor pools. So much chlorine you could smell it a mile away and the building was way to hot and humid. Oh and the local residents can buy pool passes. Buildings need more insulation for the rooms. You can hear everything from your neighbors and the people in the hallways. Weekends are a nightmare, it turns into party central. This is definitely a family resort, nothing for couples to do (unless you like Tennis, etc.) All activities are for the kids. You shouldn't need your car to get to all of the amenities in a Resort! Don't bother with the fishing, that's a waste of time too. The road to get there is awful. Very narrow and winding, double yellow lines have faded, and the residents travel it too fast and down the middle! We had a few close calls! So basically I'm upset that I fell for their misleading website and wasted a weeks vacation time! read more

Not very nice at all. Previous occupant's soap still on shower shelf, jacuzzi tub non-functional, no sink in huge bathroom, poorly lit bathroom, a single tiny waste basket for the whole room located next to the toilet in the bathroom, weird double sinks in hall outside the bathroom, no storage space in closet, food on floor next to bed (not ours), some non-functioing light switches, dresser to foot of bed clearance about 18", water still in ice bucket (from previous occupant), non-functioing window locks, VERY loud HVAC unit in room, VERY loud heating unit behind pool area you could hear through room walls, lots of kids running down hallway, LOTS of stairs everywhere, young kids in hot tub, hot tub felt much warmer than 104 temp posted, bed was like a freaking rock, breakfast buffet not very good and not attended to by staff often enough. Grounds were muddy and in need of lots of TLC. Nice view though. read more
