My cousin from out of town was here visiting and she wanted Italian food and found this place online. The reviews were good so we decided to try it out. We ordered carry out and everything was delicious BUT for the price we paid we felt like they didn't serve enough. They gave us a salad along with our entrees but the entrees were very small and they didn't even pack us any bread. It was a dark night - like most nights typically are. Me and my girl were on the prowl for a decent meal with no fuss. Earlier that day I had spotted a little italian spot on Gulf Blvd. We decided to take our chances and try it out - Stefano's Italian Cuisine. At first glance, the place looks small and questionable. Please be advised, you will love this place. The restaurant is small and quaint with your choice of outdoor or indoor seating. Upon entering you will find a small bar, being tended by what I assume is the owner. Hang a right - theres the dining area. The room is decorated in a very unique style, but it all comes together and presents itself as an Italian theme in a wierd way. There are classic movie star framed photographs on the wall, small paintings and other random beach style art you would find in a beach-bum's home. The room is dimmed perfectly for a nice little date, if youre into that kind of thing. The ambient music is a mix of carribean, and italian opera & classical. I utilized my priceless Sound Hound app to capture the sound of Guateque All Stars -- SuperWhirly. My girlfriend thought she knew the artist. I knew she didnt. We sat down in a cozy little private nook towards the back of the dining area and were soon greeted by Brian, our waiter. Nice dude, clean cut. Our drink orders - she had a diet coke; our beer selection were the standard bud light, miller light, bud, etc.... I opted for Peroni, partly because I love that beer, partly to support the recently weakening Euro. We were soon served fresh bread with olive oil with condiments mixed in. The bread was warm, I also remember pointing out that it had nice texture for some reason. The oil dip lacked some taste, but it was nothing that upset me. While we waited for our food I took a closer look at the dining room. Every table has its own unique little style. They each have their own table cloths, table style, and a little lamp. Those tables in the middle were decorated with candles -- all except for one unlucky table. Maybe they ran out. Who knows. Our entrees were served with our choice of soup or salad. The soup choice was beef noodle. We both opted for the salad with house dressing. No disappointment here. The dressing was a creamy italian citrus blend. Very good. Soon after, Brian brought our entrees. She had chicken gorgonzola with broccoli served with penne pasta. We had earlier made a deal to share our food. The chicken gorgonzola had a very good taste. You could taste the freshness in the vegetables. However, the chicken felt chewy as if it was defrosted, then cooked. Regardless, a tasty dish. I went with the spinach ravioli special. This was an excellent dish. It was obvious the pasta was made on-site and the spinach was freshly grown. The pasta was light and did not over-power the dish. This is not the crap they serve at Olive Garden. I highly recommend this dish. After dinner, the gentleman who I assume is the owner came by and asked how everything was. It was a nice finish to the experience. I could see he was genuinely interested and cared about his customers. My one complaint of the night was that they had replaced the restaurant thermostat and failed to re-paint around the old one. FYI - the last coat of paint was an off-white... maybe eggshell. Oh - they charged for a refill on the coke too. Come on... build that into your cost. All in all, Steffano's gets an A++. The extra + is for their catering capabilities for your next corporate event. First off let me say that this is not a restaurant for those in a hurry. Total time at restaurant was about 1-1/2 hours, with no wait to be seated. I will agree with a previous post regarding small children. My one year old daughter wanted to play with all of the stuff on the walls and ceiling. On to the review. The decor resembles an antique shop. The lighting is dim. The chairs and glasses don't match. WHO CARES!!!!! The food rocks. I had the Michaelangelo dinner, and though I was stuffed I could have tried to jam another plate down. Might be one of the best Italian dishes I have ever had. My wife had their Mahi special and it was moist and flakey. Even the bread and oil was great. If you want to take some time over dinner and relax, while eating excellent food, this is the place for you. You can tell that it is homemade and done with skill and love. Wish a place like this existed where I live. FYI. The prices are more like $20-30 than the yelp double $$ of $11-30 read more

WOW!!! Great great great food near the beach - amazing! Atmosphere is cozy and comforting. Something special something different. Melodic soothing guitarist croons quietly on weekend nights. Really a must try spot! The appetizer portion if eggplant parmigiana should not be missed even if eggplant is not normally you thing. The delicate purses of pear and some sort of magical cheese and cream sauce must not be missed. Choose whatever ravioli special Stefano is cooking for the evening- tonight's butternut and ricotta in a brown butter sauce was as close to heaven on a fork as I could imagine. Michelangelo's pasta is spicy and filled with delicious Italian sausage, chicken, bacon, peppers! Wine prices are reasonable and quality is fantastic. Really don't think twice - just go. Come on. Really? All these good reviews for an overpriced, mediocre restaurant? Stephano's is where you go when Thai Pan Alley is closed. Overpriced, overpriced, overpriced! Baked salmon with no sauce, no seasoning with white rice, something called Michelangelo - not bad - and a large pitcher of sangria that was half ice - $80.25??? Seriously? The couple at the next table had something on their bill comped. Last time I was there the food was comped because the mussels were salty as f***, and the carbonara was curdled and flavourless. Service has always been good, but you can't eat that. Go to Thai Pan Alley, pay $32 before tip for two and have a good meal. Stephano's needs to wake up and get real. Just because you say you're authentic doesn't mean your food is worth $100. $34 for the large pitcher of sangria. Pull your heads out of your asses. Rip off. read more

Not sure how this place has such good reviews. The ambiance is very cute inside as well as the staff being very pleasant. The food however tasted like it wasn't fresh and had no flavor. I ordered the carbonara. I've never seen it made this way . It was clumpy and greasy with absolutely no flavor. It also looked precooked and then heated up but I'm sure that can't be the case. I wouldn't suggest this place from this particular dish at all. Carbonara is difficult to make, maybe they should nix it from the menu. read more

Had dinner at Stefano's last night with my husband and son, so impressed! The food was excellent and the menu was inventive. Not just garden variety Italian food but wonderful dishes like the Finocchi Ashely and the Gnocchi. The Salad was fresh and the citrus vinegrette very tasty. Service was wonderful, staff was friendly and atmosphere very eclectic and interesting. To top it all off there was a live guitarist/singer who played a variety of music and was just the right volume to enjoy the music AND still be able to converse. I really, really want to like this place. It's decorated in such an awesome way, you just feel like you're in a good friend's dining room. But as great as it feels to be in the place, the food makes it not worth going there. Especially when a few blocks further south on Gulf Blvd you can enjoy TJ's. The food is better and the prices are about the same. The bread before the meal is toasted, and the oil and spices for dipping is really good. But that's the end of the good. We tried the spaghetti and meatballs, and the lasagna. Neither was worth ordering again. And for an Italian restaurant, those are the mainstay dishes. If you can't do those right, I'm not going to bother with anything else you make. If you're on Indian Rocks Beach and looking for Italian food, keep driving. TJ's to the south, and if you are up for driving about ten minutes further, try Amici, on West Bay. read more

We had been to Stefano's at their old location years ago, so had to search them out this trip! The quirky atmosphere is still there...not quite like the original, but close! We walked in and got a seat immediately, despite small space. Our server greeted us snd took our wine order, telling us she'd be back with bread and waters. We did get water...and it was filled when needed, as the server reminded herself to bring our bread. We had all but given up on ever getting bread, but finally flagged her down halfway through our entrees and asked for it. Service brings the rating down from what could be 5 stars. The food, however, was amazing! Entrees: fiocchi Ashley was highlighted in reviews, and seemed like something very different, so we tried that. It was very good -- don't get scared by pears in pasta; it was subtle, and not sweet as you might expect. I think the addition of the chicken (vs the fiocchi Catherine) also makes it a little more substantial. But the star was the Michaelangelo pasta. I remembered my daughter having this on our first visit, but didn't recall the creaminess of the tomato based sauce, or the bacon that joined the sausage, chicken, peppers, and pasta in that dreamy sauce. It was so flavorful -- even the pasta on its own in the sauce was satisfying. Loved every bite and didn't leave a drop! I'd definitely go back -- the food is worth it! read more

We stumbled into this gem of a restaurant after a long day in the Fl sunshine. Looking for something close by in Seminole - and finding Stefano's was recommended by our hostess - we gave it a try. What an absolute delight! Inside seated was available (we had enough of the heat for awhile). The young man who was our server was simply outstanding. He was attentive and personable. Our orders came out promptly and were really good! My wife's Chicken Marsala was tender and flavorful - the noodles were perfect and the sauce was delectable. We love Stefanos!!! We live so close to it, but didn't try it for 4 years! I have been on the hunt for a great chicken Marsala and this is my go to place. They pound the chicken and you can even hear them doing it in the kitchen...fresh, made to order. Their Michaelangelo pasta dish is amazing and has a bit of heat to it, but great to chase with their crusty bread. We love their house salad and Caesar so my hubby and I get one of each and trade half way through so we get the best of both worlds. The tiramisu is our favorite and we always order 2 now, one for there and one to go for the kiddos. So many other good dishes like the mushroom ravioli, the pasta purses and short rib ravioli. My friend wanted something like surf and turf. She ordered the petit filet with a skewer of shrimp. Much to my chagrin she ordered her filet well done. However, this was the best cooked most tender piece of filet I have ever seen or tasted. The ravioli I ordered was just wonderful. I have to say everything about this meal was perfect. There's very few spots to get a good dinner on the north end of Indian Rocks Beach and Bellaire. So when my mom visited and we wanted to walk from the house to watch the sunset and get a bite, there weren't many choices besides Stefano's. Being a vegetarian and not a huge fan of the typical bland Italian food I'm used to getting when I dine out, I was less than excited about going to Stefano's. I'm very happy to say it surprised me and makes me delighted that there's such a quality restaurant within walking distance. We sat outside at one of the couple tables on their porch. The waitress quickly brought out drinks and warm, flaky bread that we devoured like we hadn't eaten in days. We ordered the fried zucchini for an appetizer. It was thinly battered, crispy and perfectly fried. It was delivered quickly and accompanied with a light marinara dipping sauce. For our main entrees, I had the spinach ravioli special, my boyfriend had the Fiocchi and my mom had the grouper parmesan special. My boyfriend and I were thrilled with our pasta dishes. With homemade pasta and light, creamy sauces, they were maybe the best pasta dishes I have ever had. My mom was less than thrilled with her grouper parmesan and thought it was bland, though I didn't sample it b/c I don't eat fish. We were also slightly disappointed that they weren't serving pizza that night even though it's an appetizer on the regular menu. After a day at the beach we stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. My daughter had heard good reviews from random people about this place. It is VERY small so reservations would be wise. Extremely good service - they kept apologizing for the wait. The wine was good and beer was cold with a cold mug and reasonable. The food was well worth the wait. The piccata sauce wAs some of the best I have ever had. My son in law did everything except lick his plate. We had the lemoncello and gelato swirled together for desert - all the food was excellent and reasonable - would be a great date night place. Evelyn, our server and part owner, made the evening one of our finest experiences in many years. She understood her menu and shared their ability to accommodate our individual requests for subtle menu variations. There was nothing but an honest effort to guide us to great menu selections. She was neither too perky or scripted. It's hard to explain our experience here other than to say Evelyn made us feel as though we were home.
