I've tried Del Russo's pizzeria on a whim Saturday night. I will say that this is a locals place, and not a tourist restaurant. The ambience of the place is definitely an Italian restaurant. It is a little small and you may have to wait sometimes but I wait sat at the bar. I ordered stuffed shells. It came with a salad and bread. A salad was very good. Their house dressing was good as well. The stuffed shells were definitely some of the best I've had in a while. Probably better than mine. Not only was the service great but the locals treated you like you were a part of the family, met some pretty nice people there. I was told to try the wings people next to me had wings and they smelled fantastic. I will try them next time I go there. I would definitely add this place to your list of Italian restaurants to try out. read more

I moved from NY to Tampa 5 years ago. I've tried every "NY Style" between Tampa and St. Pete as I'm down in SP 3-4 days a wk. Eddie & Sam's, nyny, Toby's etc etc, almost all that say NY. This was by far the best I've had down here, nothing even close! The sauce was delicious, the cheese was great and I never eat crust and even the crust was delicious! Got the lasagna....It was absolutely delicious...Only thing I didnt care for was it was on the mushy side and I prefer my pasta to be al dente...Came with salad and bread...Two waitresses shared waiting on the tables and they did a very good job...They had a guy this night playing acoustic guitar and he was very good...Playing Allmans, Marshall Tucker, etc...Guy had a lot of soul. read more

Amazing! We are visiting the beach and ventured east to try some St Pete Italian food and DeRussos was perfect! The sausage and meatball appetizer was very good. The dinner salad with your entree was BIG, be careful, I told myself I ordered too much. The dinner entrees of Stuffed Shells and Chicken Marco (chicken with eggplant parmigiana) were amazing! WOW, The food was amazing!!! We were camping nearby and decided to be lazy and get pizza. We expected the food to be decent as there are so many NY transplants, but didn't have high hopes. We ordered a pizza (of course) wings, and a house salad. The pizza was phenomena, with tasty sauce, good cheese, and quality meat. The wings were among the best I ever had. The wings were lean and meaty, with a slightly sweet and tangy sauce (medium). My small family of 4 ordered too much food and ate until we couldn't move. After reading a few positive reviews on S/M for the new 2nd Location of DeRussos on Bay Pines (original in Tierra Verde 13 yrs) we gave it a try! Our server Amanda was friendly and helpfully suggestive as we started with Golden Road Draft beer. Decided to keep it simple for a first time taste test and went with a traditional White Pizza with fresh tomatoes, ricotta snd basil. While waiting and enjoying the fruity flavor of the Mango Cart beer looking around the nicely decorated, bright decor was welcoming and reminiscent of the traditional Italian Cuisine and there is even an secluded outdoor area for dining "Al Fresco" The pizza was delivered in beautiful fashion that was so welcoming to see as we both had an appetite. Unfortunately we were just too stuffed to try Cannolis or Tiramisu, but decided the next visit we'll limit with a Medium pie to save room for dessert indulgence... OMG! We celebrated my husband's birthday here! There were 6 of us, and everyone one of us loved every delicious bite of our meal. Our dining experience started with orders of calamari and mozzarella sticks, we raved about the yummy taste and not one bite left! I ordered the eggplant Parmesan, it was so tender and the sauce was sweet and Savory. Plenty left over for dinner tomorrow. The only disappointment was I thought there could have been a larger portion of each topping...especially the onion and peppers. Also disappointed in the garlic knots. Literally did not taste a single bit of garlic. Tasted like bread. Will not order unless I read rave views for garlic on the knots. Overall very good, though. When your husband is Italian your family eats a lot of pizza. Therefore, we've tried many pizza parlors in the area over the years but never found one we truly loved, until now. DeRusso's is our new fav pizzeria hands down & unlike some other good Italian restaurants, DeRusso's is open on Mondays. Their other menu items are flavorful & good too. The portions are large. However, their pizza is the best around. So very happy to find that this "little gem" of an Italian restaurant is still in business here after hurricane Milton's flood water wiped out a lot in the area last fall, some still not yet recovered. During such times you have to think positive & a little levity often helps...The hurricane may have taken away my brand new car (truth) :( but at least it did not take our fav go to pizza pizzeria! OK, so I dialed this place up on Yelp, while looking for a decent pizza place for my granddaughter and I. "DeRussos" is hidden away in a little strip mall, not far from the Bay Pines Walmart. We had a "small" antipasto salad, which was actually quite large, and included some rolled up Italian ham and cheese. It was delicious and filling. We ordered a calzone to split for lunch, which was also large and delicious, including the sauce. Their pizza looked phenomenal, and we will be returning to try it next time. The staff is very personable, and our waitress was very attentive and nice. It is a comfortable atmosphere, reminiscent of my favorite pizza places. This place is worth a stop, especially for people who are looking for a "northern"style, "city" pizza and/or calzone, and some bang for your buck! read more

This place was just ok. The food was pretty delicious. My small house salad was a bargain because it was $5 and came with bread on the side. It was also a good size meal. The garlic knots were very tasty, they took a while to cook and came out very hot but the sauce with them was a delightful appetizer. The service was fine. Our waitress was nice but the food took a long time to cook. To conclude this restaurant, I recommend to sit outside. It's very cute and much more quite then inside.
