Staff was welcoming and informative about the beer they were serving and super patient when I became the obnoxious guy that wanted to buy a hoodie. Best surprise for me personally was a fish and chips order to go. Fish was cooked to a perfect crisp with very flavorful breading. Their beer menu is on three large flat screen TVs that are all categorized by style, brewery, and their location. Whaaaat! This made my day. They're color coded also according to beer type. Super Racist Staff... Went to this restaurant with a group of friends. 2 of the friends were people of color (1 African American and 1 Hawaiian). Those 2 friends were treated very poorly by a member of the staff when asking politely for simple things like condiments. The rest of us got everything we asked for without question. My Hawaiian friend asked for hot sauce (as none came with his braut) and one of the staff members pointed to a bottle of tapatio behind him and said "there's tapatio behind you, I know how much you people like that". Sadly these encounters happened after we all paid for our food and our friends asked the rest of us not to make a scene. We were recently visiting Leavenworth and decided to come here for dinner. It was a Friday night and we arrived around 5:30 and were immediately able to find a seat, which was awesome! Had we come just a few minutes later, we would have had a much more difficult time. There are a lot of things I love about this place. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, there are a million beers and ciders on tap, there was a live band at 7, it's family-friendly, and the staff is outstanding. Unfortunately, the food was not so awesome. My family ended up ordering the Twisted Hummus, Yam street tacos, The Big Chief sandwich, and the Tye Mill Grilled cheese. The hummus was good, but none of us were able to identify artichoke in there. Still, no complaints. My tacos would have been very tasty, had the yams been cooked a little more. They were still hard and the tortillas did not appear grilled and were cold. The sandwiches are where we had the biggest issues. They are served on grilled focaccia bread and both sandwiches were very overcooked. The bread became extremely hard. My partner said his ingredients were pretty good, except the bacon was floppy (not crispy at all, as stated on the menu), but my daughter did not care for her grilled cheese. I agreed. It was really hard to see any cheese on there and that, combined with overcooked bread was just a fail. So, I give it three stars for the great atmosphere and staff, but unfortunately, the food did not meet our expectations. I've been to a lot of the establishments in Leavenworth and the surrounding area, however on my first visit to Stein ( with a HUGE beer menu) I ordered a beer and it was tapped out, I picked my second choice and something along the lines of "you should take the beer of the menu if it's out, it's already hard enough to pick as it is :) in a very nice way to the nice bartender. The manager working half way across the bar yelled at me - if you are to drunk to understand the menu, I'll just cut you off-. I called to complain a few days later and found out he was the manager who is in charge of putting the beers on the electric display.... A different manager there requested my name and number ( and I gave them) and I assumed they would call me back sometime, but nope. Lame service in the service industry is a complete fail.
