One of the original building with high ceilings brick and wood. Big portions and tasty. For a German American theme, it has a lot of vegetarian options. Ate twice in two days. It's the place on the corner with the bear.

We picked this place because it was the one restaurant on the main drag in Leavenworth that wasn't packed. That's not always a good sign, but we were too hungry to wait! But this place wasn't bad. I got the combo sausage platter and both sausages were tasty. It came with a ton of sauerkraut and red cabbage and potatoes. The bread was pretty dry but everything else was fine. The wait staff were all very friendly and helpful. Overall, no complaints!

We were there for a Friday night dinner. It wasn't super busy and the staff were very friendly. The food was good. The drinks were good.

The service was great, Courtney is the best waitress. She knows all the food and the area SO well. It's a quiet, comfortable restaurant- great portions and fresh food. The live music on weekends here is great- we went a couple years ago!

This place is pretty good. They have a wide spread of food ranging from Pizza to Steak. The service was friendly and the decor and layout was not overly crammed. The one thing i did not like is the fact that they charge for refills on all drinks (except water). Which the only reason for the 4 stars. I believe that is kinda a big deal when the prices for the rest of the menu is what is it. I am not saying they are overpriced, but simply that free refills is not completely unreasonable. Overall i still recommend this restaurant, just expect then to not tell you about the "hidden" fees.

Fun German restaurant in Leavenworth, right downtown. It can get crowded and doesn't take reservation so get here early. Friendly staff. Fun indoor venue. Lots of good German food options and beer. The schnitzel is tasty. Kids chicken tenders and fries was a large portion. Overall, if you are craving some tasty German food and beer, definitely check this place out!

One of the popular meat try places in Leavenworth for its German food scene. Grabbed dinner last week as I got couple of friends from the Bay area, got them to try my local spots. We got Bratwurst Platter, Schinitzel, Margherita and Pretzel. I love their Pretzels, so had to make my friends try it too. Food was great, the Beets with Entrees tasted so fresh.

The cabbage and the gravy are the stars of this dish!

I stopped in on a busy Sunday night, but was able to get a seat rather quickly because I was over 21 and able to sit in the bar. The Jägerschnitzel was great. The breading was tasty, but the meat was a little tough to cut through. However, after having tried four Jägerschnitzel dishes in town, Baren Haus wins the prize for the most delicious and flavorful mushroom gravy!

Let's begin with the food. Personally, I felt like it was a good amount of food. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium well), and the fries were good. I've got to say, the overall presentation is alright. It's not fancy, but it's also not the worse. I mean, most people here are tourists and you aren't really coming here for a fancy dinner or brunch. But, it could be better. I love the overall atmosphere of Leavenworth, and that same charming and festive ambiance translated into the restaurant. The service was good, very attentive and friendly from what I can recall.

I thought it started off great my group and I were helped right away, and the theme of the place was amazing! The host was wearing a dirndl costume and made it feel as if I was in Germany. Though, by the time we sat down it went downhill... after we ordered our food which I was ecstatic to try, and received mine I was disappointed. I ordered the Jaeger Schnitzel which was not the best. I'm not sure how it's supposed to be but it tasted dry to me, and it wasn't my favorite. Most likely wouldn't try that place again.

Myself and a friend went to Baren Haus during peak season on December 28th. We were unsurprised at a long waitlist to get a table for two around 2pm and ended up getting sat by about 315pm. Of note, the hostess was kind, calm, and courteous and our server was fantastic. She was friendly, prompt and managed her numerous tables with seemingly ease. Unfortunately, the food was not ideal. We started by ordering the German Pretzel with cheese sauce and were disappointed to find the cheese sauce was eerily similar to Cheez Whiz and definitely low quality. For lunch, I ordered the Sauerbraten and my friend ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich. I was excited to try a new German dish and was hoping for a better experience than what I had with the pretzel, but was disappointed to find out the "sweet and tangy brown gravy" used was almost identical to a watered-down version of HP Sauce. Despite not being the most authentic or delicious meal, the portion was massive and I was unable to finish my plate. As for the Grilled Chicken Sandwich, my friend noted it was one of the best grilled chicken sandwiches she had ever had and also commented on the large portion size. Based on the food we had ordered, the best items were those that were not traditionally German, which seemed odd for a restaurant in the middle of a Bavarian village. I would likely not re-visit given the lower quality of the food. However, I would definitely re-visit to experience the high level of service from the staff, and positive atmosphere with the themed decor.

Schnitzel! That are not shy about filling up a plate.

Outstanding schnitzel! Great server, great drinks, warm bread, very generous portions. I Loved everything about this place. I think I even liked it a little better than Andrea's Keller. The sauerkraut was dreamy.

Combination plate: 1 German sausage, 1 Brat, sauerkraut, red cabbage, baked potatoes.

1st authentic German food experience, and not sure if there will be a second. The sausages were good, but I'm probably not a big sauerkraut fan. I really like the esthetics of the place. Suits of armor and coat of arms on the walls were really fun. The service was ok. Baren Haus does not take reservations, so everything is on a notepad waitlist (no cellphone texts, etc.). Also...$$$ Overall: if you know you love German Food, and don't mind dropping serious money on it, this may be the place for you.

Pretty good schnitzel, excellent cabbage. But the stand out is the bavarian pretzel appetizer. It came out hot and buttery and delicious.

The restaurant is tucked away in a basement with fun Bavarian décor, but my favorite place to sit is actually outside along the street during the summer. Grab a local beer, people-watch, and soak in the Leavenworth vibe. The service was friendly, and they had a solid selection of local beers on tap. I ordered the schnitzel, which was a bit smaller than the traditional German portions I've had elsewhere. It leaned a little dry, and the breading was just okay--not bad, but nothing that really stood out. That said, not every meal has to be perfect to be worth the stop. The atmosphere, beer selection, and overall experience make it a place I'd still recommend when you're visiting Leavenworth. Sometimes it's just about embracing the Bavarian charm, and this restaurant definitely helps deliver that.

I'm not usually someone who finishes a big plate, but somehow I manage to clean this one every time...including the Käsespätzle with the homemade mushroom sauce (no regrets, ever). My guy usually goes for one of the sausages or wieners, and he's just as happy with his choice. The food comes out fast, which is great--but do yourself a favor and check out the menu ahead of time to better prepare you and your family (especially if you have kids). I can't even count how many times I've overheard full-on family debates at the table trying to decide what to order. Whether it's lunch or dinner, this place is always worth it. Be prepared for a wait--it gets busy--but that's how you know it's good. Trust me, you'll forget about the wait the second your food hits the table. The atmosphere is fully traditional and honestly just so much fun--it feels like a little trip without leaving the country.

When we asked the server, she just said it's German inspired and therefore, always not much meat in there. She took the plate and threw the food out, we assumed we'll get a new plate. Nothing happened and we walked over and she was like, no replacement was placed, the manager did the right thing and refunded the dish and he also didn't seem too surprised. Seems to be a common complaint? Note to the owner, if you don't want to put meat in the schnitzel, don't serve it or make it more expensive to cover the cost so people get food and not fried breading. How service is dealing with issues is also important, especially when problems are clearly known. German inspired doesn't mean serving subpar food is ok, but I guess in a town like this, a couple complaints don't matter, plenty more people are coming. If you decide to come here, stay with the sausage or american food and enjoy the nice outdoor patio. Skip the German stuff please.

Since we had to make the almost 6 hour trek home the next day, we went for an early dinner and were the first party in. Service was kind and quick! Everyone was super friendly. Only thing is with it being just freshly opened for the day, it felt a bit like we were intruding on the staffs prep time - no one made us feel that way there was just a lot of work and chatter going on. I assume with the name Mozart usually there's some form of music (I would assume classical) that maybe just hadn't been turned on yet. But no bother. Food was fantastic. The fondue is not to be missed - the sausage and broccolini were clear standouts with this dish. I got the hunters schnitzel which was great but my husband got the Käsespätzle which is one of the absolute best things I have eaten out in a really long time. Like an oniony cheesy spatzle Mac and cheese. YUM. Should we be back in the area, we would go back again for sure!

Unfortunately, the restaurant was already running about 45 minutes behind and no one communicated this to the long line of guests standing on a steep staircase waiting to be seated. Given that the evening was reservation-only, it was surprising how unprepared they seemed for the exact number of people they knew were coming. The space itself is quaint and charming, and the food was reasonably tasty once it arrived. But the service left a lot to be desired. The hostess was uncommunicative and initially tried to seat us at a shared table in the middle of heavy foot traffic. When we asked about an empty private table that had been sitting open the entire time we were waiting, we were told it was for "VIP" guests. Our server seemed overwhelmed and not very attentive. She had to ask for and repeat our orders multiple times, still brought the wrong dish to one person, and served three meals while the fourth person in our party waited another 10-15 minutes for theirs. When we asked about the delay, it felt like we were inconveniencing them. Overall, it was disappointing. The restaurant has a lot of charm and potential, but the lack of communication, organization, and basic hospitality made for a frustrating experience--especially on a night that was clearly planned around reservations.
