Overall an excellent experience. We were seated promptly and service was excellent. Drinks were always full. We ordered the green chile corn crab cakes for an appetizer. Very good flavor. For entrees I had the lamb shank and my girl had the pork chop. Both were excellent. My only complaints were the booth/table we were at was small and my entree could have been a bit hotter. Flavor was excellent, portions were good size. For dessert we had the pecan pie and chocolate cake. Both were good. I plan on going back and trying some other items on teh menu. read more

Very hesitant to review this restaurant, mainly because it is so new and I want to be fair and give it a chance to get through its 'newness' period. I would guess its like 'being new on a new job', gotta give em a break. I will return, and update, but here's what happened. Dropped in for lunch at this restaurant a few weeks ago. This a new restaurant, in the former Bubba's BBQ building on 9th east. The restaurant is owned by the same people who brought us The Pub at Trolley Square (now called Desert Edge Brewery at the Pub), Red Butte Cafe downtown and Martine, downtown. I was expecting great food because I've eaten at all those restaurants (except for Martine)and have had great experiences. There was a nice crowd there, almost all spaces in the parking lot were filled, and the greeting and seating was friendly and quick. Comfortable space, nice ambience, with a 'star' theme. I liked the garage door and natural landscaping outside. The lunch menu is small but interesting. I ordered the Portobello Mushroom sandwich and my friend also ordered a sandwich. We chatted, and waited. Food arrived and was emm, fine. I liked the roasted tomato sitting on top of my Portobello 'burger',and the flavors were very good. The soft bun used was a little too soft and mushed up and fell apart a bit before I was done, so I would suggest a stronger ciabatta or french roll, but flavors inside were great. My friend's sandwich came with the roll sitting in the pasta salad's liquid, so it started being damp and basically unusuable. She ate the inside of the sandwich. The wait staffer asked her about it and was very helpful, comping her for her meal. The pasta salad was good, but different - made with homemade egg noodles instead of the twirly ones. The main salads looked very interesting so I will probably return to try those. But, unless they change those rolls, I'm not ordering sandwiches again. 5 Stars for service - our male wait staffer was wonderful and helpful 3 Stars for our food this time We were both really excited to try this place, but it let us down a little, to be honest. It's been five years since we last ate here, thought we would try it again. This was our last time at this restaurant, let me tell you why. We ordered the artichoke spinach dip as an appetizer, it was $8.95 and when it came I was SHOCKED at the amount severed to us. It was barely 1/4 cup if that. They serve it with 6 pieces of bread, so do the math, the dip lasted for 3 slices barely. Absurd amount served for the price!! Our food was average, my salad special was $10.95 and was a small portion. My husband ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich $8.00 and was a lot to eat, but he wasn't a fan of the sauce. Our server was annoyed that she had to be there and showed in her overall service to us. Not a great experience and we won't be going back to Stella's. read more

I agree with another post. When they're good they're good. I've only been there three times and only one time was it great food and great service. The next two times I had the same waitress that does not like to wait on women. She paid attention to my husband but acted like I wasn't there. The third time, and with the same waitress as the second, we were a group of women and some children. After she took our orders she acted annoyed to wait on us. Thankfully another worker came and took care of us while she was chit chatting with the men in her section. The food was bad. My burger was like a little hockey puck. The roast beef on another's sandwich was full of fat and the grilled cheese wasn't melted. Not sure I'll give it another try. read more

I highly recommend the hanger steak sandwich, the prime rib sandwich and the Samurai sliders. I have been a frequenter of this restaurant for years an eaten everything on the menu and I have yet to try something I don't like. The service is great and very accommodating. Check it out! I have one word for this place: Good. That's it though, just good. The service and ambiance were both good. The food was good but not compelling. I can think of other places that serve better sandwiches, burgers and salads. For this reason I probably won't go back. Pretty good little bistro. We've been here a few times for work lunches etc and I've never been dissapointed. The food is always good quality and they are vere efficient, even during busy lunch times. Get the hanger steak salad if you happen to come on a day they have the special. Yumm! read more

I wish I could actually give Stella a 3.5 star because I think that's what it deserves over a 3 star. However, It doesn't quite deserve a 4 star in my book. It was good and I enjoyed the atmosphere but it wasn't anything out of this world. Our waiter was very nice and helpful with making a decision on our food. I got the prime rib sandwich. It was really not bad at all, I liked it but I didn't love it - there wasn't anything about it that was terribly special. It is in a nice location and the restaurant itself is a fun place to be. Hot Italian burger is amazing! Ground beef and Italian sausage mixed in a perfectly grilled patty topped with gorgonzola cheese, arugula, tomato, on your choice of a whole wheat or sourdough bun, lightly slathered with am amazing basil mayo. We stumbled upon Stella Grill and we are glad we did. The wait staff was attentive, and fast. I was able to get two different types of enchiladas, chicken and cheese. They were delicious. My wife got carne asada steak tacos and enjoyed them. The prices were also great. We will be back in the future. read more

I really wanted to love this place. The atmosphere is absolutely perfect. With the clean decor and natural light, it really has a lot going for it... until you get to the menu. There just ISN'T a whole lot to choose from, and of the limited selection they have, nothing really whet's my appetite at all. My husband and I treat Stella's as a go to for easy date nights close to home. We usually sit at the bar and the service and food has always been great. The last time we were there the bar was full so we were seated. Our server was not particularly interested in us, or refilling our beers, nor was she knowledgeable in the beer selection and favors. She seemed inconvenienced by us and part of our food arrived cold. Also our appetizer arrived before our beers. We still love Stella's but plan to always sit at the bar for good service, appetizers and beer. read more

I always go to stellas! It's one of my favorite places to eat for lunch! I've tried many delicious meals here, but my favorite has to be the salmon salad!! It is one of the best salads I've ever had, and let's just say salad is usually not my Forte! Would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!! read more

We had a great meal the first time we went to Stell'a. we went back a second time and were very disappointed in our meal. My Father had the New York steak and it was not worth the $19. I had the beef dip which had too many peppers & the meat was tough. The only positive thing was the excellent service. read more

This place is a hidden gem. I have been here a dozen times and have never been disappointed. I have also sat in every part of the place and it has the perfect ambiance no matter where you are. The Catfish Tacos are my favorite. Their daily pasta salads are also really yummy. When I'm not in the food for tacos I always get the BBQ sandwich. I would also recommend sitting on the patio if weather permits. Its perfectly lit and beautiful! The staff is also very friendly and helpful. I had a bachelorette party here and they were attentive and willing to bring more chairs over as people arrived. Although there are some pricey items on the menu, its a very affordable place to eat. My husband & I were tired of the same old restaurants and we lived just up the street from this place so we thought what the heck, why not? Wow, we were impressed, our son, who like most kids is satisfied with a burger from a fast food place but at Stella Grill he tried their enchiladas with corn succotash and finished every bite, I was so happy to see that he devoured and enjoyed something that wasn't processed and greasy. We decided that each time we go we'll try something new on the menu and each time we've been impressed. We've recommended this place to so many friends and family and everyone that has gone is just as impressed as we have been. Price is fair, sometimes the staff takes a while to get to your table but they've been super busy each time so I can't hold that against them, I suggest going a little earlier in the day to beat the rush. Went in for a lunch. The Santa Fe chicken sandwich was bland and the chicken was very dry. The service was terrible. No one asked how the food was or refilled our drinks. With so many options in town, there is no reason to eat here. read more

There is an atmosphere you can feel at the exterior of the building quickly destroyed by the head chef upon entry to the restaurant. His bad attitude reflects across all of the staff, the daily specials should be called monthly, and look out for mice. We gave this place a second try and were only let down. read more

I've always just driven by this place, it didn't necessarily have anything that stood out BUT my family decided to go there and holy cow, they have the BEST food. Their turkey avocado is PHENOMENAL!! The bread and all the food is so fresh. Everyone else loved what they got as well. Apparently it used to be an old fire station, it's a fun atmosphere. You won't be disappointed. I have been to Stella many times, and I will always come back. It's the perfect place for a quick lunch/dinner. It's kind of my go-to place to grab a bite when I'm in a rush but still want the experience of sit down service. I pretty much always get the hangar steak salad - it's wonderful!!!! So many flavors on the plate, the potatoes, the balsamic dressing, the Kalamata olives...it's seriously so good. The steak is always cooked perfectly with wonderful flavor. They don't bring the bread unless you ask for it, which you definitely should because it's fluffy and flakey and buttery and really, you don't regret carbs this good :) They also serve great soups and sandwiches. I admit the atmosphere is a little "A-OK" as they say. Nothing particularly note worthy about it, although it feels comfortable and fine. It's modern and clean, good vibe for an outing with casual friends or even a business associate. The service is always perfect, fast and friendly. It never gets too loud inside. Some of the dishes are just okay - such as the salmon, I've ordered it several times and always feel somewhat let down. The specials are always hit or just so-so. Now I just stick to what I know is good - hangar steak, salads, French onion soup... Definitely give this place a try for your next casual meeting, it's always good to have a yummy and inexpensice place in the back pocket of your mind... read more

Nice lil spot. Very quiet when we went great staff very friendly tried the lamb tacos and was blown away! Very delicious. My wife had the ribeye sandwich and it was great too. All in all a great lunch. Prices were decent especially when you consider the quality of the food. read more

We had a party of six and our server was more interested sitting behind the bar laughing with the other bartenders then actually serving aka doing her job. Food was okay but I'll never go back. We took my mom there on a trip to SLC. She just found out her cancer had returned and she had to begin treatments again. When the sweet waitress named Abby found out why she hadn't finished her meal, she brought her a delicious slice of poppy seed cake to cheer her up. Which it did! She happily ate the whole thing. I agree with other reviewers. The pasta of the day is the best dish. The house salad dressing on the pasta is my favorite. When I have tried other dishes they are also delicious. The service is fast and friendly. My only suggestion would be to turn up the heat. When I go there I always take a jacket. read more
