I've been a long-time customer of No Frills Diner in Ogden, and my wife and I used to come here regularly because the food was great and the portions were worth the price. Our absolute favorite thing on the menu was the Caramel Apple Stuffed French Toast. It was two thick pieces of cream-cheese stuffed French toast topped with apples, caramel, crumble, and whipped cream, and you actually got two of those pieces per order, plus bacon and eggs. It was easily one of the best breakfast plates in Ogden and the main reason we kept coming back. Yesterday we came in and found out they completely removed it from the menu. Huge disappointment right out of the gate. They still have mixed berry, banana caramel, and peach versions. I can't eat the berry because of an allergy, and we've had the peach before and didn't care for it, so we tried the banana caramel crunch instead. Service was slower than usual. There's a help-wanted sign when you walk in and it looked like a new employee was being trained, so that part was understandable. What wasn't understandable was when the food showed up. The portion has been cut in half.What used to be two stuffed French toast pieces per order is now only one, but the price is the same. My wife and I have both had weight-loss surgery, so we're definitely not people who need massive portions. But cutting the plate by 50% while charging the same price just feels like a bad move. Even though we split meals we made it up by tipping are wait staff, the difference as if we would have ordered two meals, Removing a customer favorite and shrinking portions at the same time is a good way to lose longtime customers. Cute little diner, just hope the owners can rethink this issue. All things change and not always for the good. We used to recommend No Frills to everyone. After this visit, it's hard to say we will anymore or visit ourselves. read more

Came here on 4th of July before work. I ordered chile verde breakfast and my coworker ordered waffles, eggs and sausages. My plate looked good, but my coworkers order had items missing. I also had to track down some syrup since no one was around to ask. My first bite was good, and that was the last good thing about it. Every bite after was saltier than the Dead Sea, my breakfast was ruined and inedible. I will never come back to this establishment and urge you to take your hard earned money elsewhere. read more

We stopped here on our way to CA from our home in Idaho. The name intigued us. It is located in the downtown area on a main drag and is on the corner. Parking is on the street, so we parked a few blocks down. We were heading to another restaurant but saw No Frills and thought we'd give it a try. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, I think more due to lack of servers than tables. As the name suggests, the ambiance was pretty basic, though they did have prints of 50s celebrities on the walls. My wife had a hamburger with onion rings and I had an omelet with hashbrowns and toast. The food was OK, nothing to write home about. Our server did a good job, considering that I think she probably had too many tables. The host was nice. read more

Their prices just recently went up. Used to be able to get a Rib Eye Steak with two sides included for $22.99 at 8 oz. The Rib Eye comes in at 8 oz. You can request a 12 oz for an additional fee which I always do. Two weeks ago you could pay just $5.00 extra for 12 oz. Now it is $8 extra for a 12 oz. The original 8 oz with two sides was $22.99. Now it's $23.99. Not a bad deal at all if they get your steak right. First time I asked for medium well done. That means just slightest pink color. It was ALL pink! Second go round a few weeks later I asked for well done. Much better! And, no, it didn't taste burnt! The pasta salad side is excellent. There is never enough to go around at the table. Shame that they don't offer that as a separate side you can purchase entirely! The onion rings are overly breaded and have their own unique taste. There is definitely more breading than onion in each one! More than likely would not order again. And neither would any of my companions. The wedge salad comes as a very thick romaine wedge. Easily broken up with your hands or a fork, and it comes with plenty of vegetables. It was fresh and delicious! Overall I am very impressed with this place. I definitely will be back. We've been to Sunday Brunch here a few times and have been very pleased with our meals. This isn't fast food, be prepared to wait a minute to sit down and get served. This isn't a bad thing, however. Management paces table sittings correctly and instead of overloading servers, sits enough tables that you can get excellent customer service. As for the food, it isn't your ordinary "ham and eggs", even though that is available. They do some killer French Toast dishes and have some twists and turns on things like eggs benedict that will make you swoon. My personal favorite is the "Stacker" which is basically taters, eggs, meat, and cheese smothered in gravy. My Cardiologist does not approve but hey, we all have our vices. Lunches and dinners look great and we need to get back down here for that. Cute, diner atmosphere and the staff are all very friendly. Pricing is VERY reasonable and honestly feels a little on the 'cheap' side after you get your food. read more

This is one of those reviews I hate to do. But! This was one of our always go to restaurants we we were always there once a week for breakfast until! You guessed it they went the way of grubhub or similar. The service was always great and still is there is usually a wait and now even more and that is a real shame. You go in and get seated and are served water and asked if you would like any other drinks. Usually coffee and tomatoe juice. Than you order and wait and I mean wait. You see lots of food going out of the kitchen but not much going to tables. You see lots of people coming in showing their phones to the server and food going to them. And you wait. Finally your food arrives but it is not the same something is missing it's cold or just thrown in the plate I am so disappointed at the loss of my most favorite breakfast but I won't compete with grubhub. Sorry to disappoint others that recently left a review on this place, but I went with takeout and not dining in. Oh, I know, the absolute horror of such a thing! Lol Ordered the Ribeye steak requested at 12 oz with chil and pasta salad as my sides. Might I say the chili was absolutely overflowing and delicious! The pasta salad was very fresh and tasty as well. The 12 oz Ribeye was very juicy and bursting with so much flavor that I didn't even need the included butter/garlic side. Requested the steak well done and it definitely was on the outside. Still slightly undercooked on the inside. That said, it was a very fresh and delicious meal all the way around! Been to this little gem twice now. I have enjoyed my time here both times. They have a bunch of chili verde dishes and their chili verde dip and their chili verde country gravy is just delicious. I got their breakfast burrito with chili verde the first time and then their country fried steak and gravy. Both were really good. The burrito being more of my favorite but still good. We traveled to SLC Utah for the Christmas holidays and took an excursion over to Ogden Ut to look around. We got hungry (there were 6 of us in our group) and spotted this diner. We really just wanted a quick lunch and we figured this would be perfect. I took a survey of the group when we left and averaged out the input for this review. We ate a variety of things from soup to Monte Christo sandwich and there were no 5s. It seemed like most thought that the food was not bad but it wasn't great either. This a 3 overall. The waitress started out a little abrupt but ended up pretty nice. She was very attentive throughout the visit. The place was decorated like an ole fashion diner with pictures of old stuff everywhere. Personally I would go back but a couple of our group members said they would not. read more

However, service quickly went downhill -- we had to ask for drink refills, and while we were eating, drywall dust fell onto the table next to ours twice while they kept seating new guests there. Some dust even landed on our table, and we hurried to box up our food just to avoid having to ask for a refund. Prices were absurd. We requested a kid's milk and were charged $4.99 for a large. We ordered fresh-cut potatoes that never made it out with our meal; they ended up boxing them to-go, charging $5.99 for what didn't even look like a full potato. I went to this establishment on Saturday night--MISTAKE! They won an award about being the "best" for something, but I couldn't tell what it would be. The staff was not friendly or welcoming and our waitress was impatient and anxious to get our order in. I felt rushed and that I didn't have time to look over what they had to offer. I ordered pancakes and they were big and delicious. I went to put syrup on them and ended up having to unscrew the lid completely off to get any out. Gross! My friend ordered the breakfast burrito--which was just ALL hash browns. Pork gravy was also ordered and didn't come out, when waitress finally checked back and asked for it, she basically delivered a cup of paste--no flavor. We each ordered country potatoes for our side. The portions were TINY and the potatoes were so saturated with grease it was inedible. Then came the ticket and sticker shock. Apparently the country potatoes weren't on the "approved list" of sides so each one was $5.99!!! We tried talking to the waitress and disputing it but Melodey (waitress) would not budge. This was one VERY EXPENSIVE and DISAPPOINTING restaurant. Save yourself fifty bucks and get better food from McDonald's. read more

New location, same great food! No Frills is that delicious hometown diner that everyone loves. Delicious food, whether you want something greasy or somewhat healthy. The menu is far too big and it will take you forever to decide, but you can't go wrong with anything. Last time I went they were dealing with the staffing shortage. I'm not sure if that's changed yet, but as with anywhere, bring your patience. The food will come out hot, but you may have a wait. read more

We went to lunch at No Frills Diner on 25th in Ogden and holy yum! I had the Lunch Stack (country fried steak on grilled Texas toast, topped with mashed potatoes, corn and country gravy). It was ginormous, I could only eat half! My husband had the Texan. It's a country fried steak sandwich. The bread is Texas toast and the country fried steak is topped with aioli, grilled onions, house sauce, lettuce and tomato. He got the onion rings with it and it was incredible how many they gave him! We can't wait to go back many many times and try the whole menu!! read more

Last weekend, we decided to give No Frills Diner a try for lunch. We were quickly seated by their friendly team members. The person that took care of our table was so friendly and helpful. Really great service!!! I had The Texan, which is a Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich. It was a huge sandwich and was really tasty. The onion rings are made fresh and were awesome! My wife had The Lunch Stack, with Chicken Fried Steak. Again... huge portions and enough to bring home a to-go box for a second meal. No Frills has the potential to be a fun place, with the vintage decor and minimalistic open space, I feel it could be really nice. The waitress was nice and informative, although they are low staffed. However I got the eggs Benedict on her recommendation, and was sadly disappointed with an overcooked egg and sauce with little flavor. My wife got the south west scramble and that was pretty good, complimented mostly by the jalepenos. The coffee was standard diner coffee but for 3.50 I was expecting a bit more. Food was good. Had the worst and most rude server I can remember. Only one other booth had customers. Took way long to come to our table. After she "dropped" our food on the table never saw her again. Halfway through the meal I was drinking cold coffee. She was extremely rude to my three year old grandson when he walked up to her, after we tried 3 times, to get her attention. He said, "Excuse me, may I have a box?" Instead of acknowledging him she rudely told him to go back to his mother. What kind of person is rude to a small chid? No matter how good the food might be, a rude server can ruin the meal. Food was very good. Obviously working very hard as they were short staffed. By the time we came in I think the wait staff was pretty well burnt out.
