I have ate here a few times for breakfast while visiting Tooele for work, but I tried the Mexican food last night for the first time. I must say it wasn't bad. I got the combination platter with the chile relleno, taco, an enchilada verde I believe. It was combination #3. The food was delivered quickly. The platter itself was large and I was not able to eat all of it, but it was pretty good. The chips and salsa I got for in place of the beans were ok, but you could tell that the salsa seemed to be store bought and served. That's my only complaint and it's minor. The service was superb! We didn't have to wait for drink refills or anything. The ambiance gives a very homey fill, which I like. I'll be back! read more

My wife and I went to breakfast today at the Tooele location. I am unsure if there are new servers or if they just aren't trained on how to treat customers, but this was by far the worst experience we have ever had in any restaurant (and that is saying something considering our ages). To start, we walked in around 9:15, maybe a couple minutes after. We waited nearly 10 minutes and not one person stopped by our table - no drinks, no message saying they were behind/busy, nothing. I finally asked the sweet gal that busses tables if she could get us water. She was very kind and did as such, although that wasn't her job but I had medications I needed to take before eating (after this though, I should've waited). A few minutes - yes, more minutes passed in waiting - and finally a server stopped and said our server was busy and she would take our order but she acted mad about it and inconvenienced by "helping". Another 15 minutes later - still no assigned server - we asked another server to check on our order and all she did was complain that everyone walked in at once so all customers had to wait - this was rude and extremely unprofessional. She came back and said it was the next ticket out, whatever, she was supposed to be the server but apparently picks and chooses by how many people are in a party (she only helped large parties and yes, was supposed to be our server). A couple minutes later the server that said she "wasn't our waitress" brought out our order. For as rubbery and dry as the food was, and as hot at the plates were, there is no way these were not sitting under the heat lamp for a bit. The same sweet gal walked around refilling customer drinks, bussing tables and wiping tables. She was a powerhouse that never stopped doing her job, plus the job of the others, but yet the servers sure had time to gab up by the register. When we finished, we waited and nobody brought our ticket. Still leaving a tip (I should have given it to the lady the busses tables instead) we walked up to the register to pay. The cashier seemed put out we didn't have the ticket but we weren't waiting another 20 minutes when we were already there more than an hour. She said the total, I paid and ate sorted me $5 and still wouldn't give me a receipt. I told her, she argued and said she was right even though she still didn't give me a receipt - absolutely the topper on the cake for horrid services. I understand places get busy and people get behind but to not have a server because they only want to focus on large parties, is garbage. An elderly lady busting her tail end non-stop - while those that can help won't or walk away from their comfy corner and the others gab - ridiculous, especially when they think they are owed or deserved the tips for not doing squat. Refusing to let us see a ticket or receipt and then basically stealing money after we left a tip for disgusting service is disgusting. Either train the staff, clean house, or hire more people because a truck stop chain can provide better and more honest service than what we had. When we heard customers from surrounding tables complaining and just walking out, we should've taken their lead. Also, the lady cleaning the tables, is the best Sunday morning worker Virg's in Tooele has! Her help and kindness was beyond appreciated and give her a raise or the tips from the lazy workers because she is the only one that never stopped, never took a break and was constantly doing something. read more

We dined at Virg's a couple months ago for supper and it was very good. The shrimp tacos, waffles, sausage gravy, bacon cheeseburger and tater tots were excellent. The cod and cole slaw were blah. The service was top notch. We dined there today for lunch. The food was very good. The hard tacos, enchiladas, burrito and chef salad were all great. The service was poor. I ordered onion rings with my meal. When the server brought the entrees, no onion rings. I asked for them. We all finished eating and the server finally came back. Asked if we needed anything. We said just takeout boxes and the bill. I said, please make sure thing onion rings are not on the bill. She said ok. Nothing else. She returned with the boxes and bills. She did apologize and took responsibility for the onion rings. We won't be back any time soon after this experience. read more

The food was delicious, especially the biscuits and gravy! We were ignored for quite some time when we entered. We wanted a booth and the young lady who finally made eye contact had a serious attitude regarding our request for a booth. She ignored us for over 15 minutes once we were seated. I had to go ask for a menu. After that, Sheila came to our table and took care of us from there. She was very pleasant, prompt, and efficient. When I went to pay I wanted to use my credit card for payment. I found out that a 3% charge is assessed when using a credit card. I find this practice very frustrating and discriminatory. During Covid cash was not even considered! Why not just raise the prices 3% and let everyone pay the same! The ambiance was nice. read more

Virg's moved this past year to the old downtown area of Tooele on south Main St. Be aware that you cannot actually park in front of the restaurant at its address, but must loop around to the very crowded parking lot in the back. It has quaint decor, courteous servers, and average prices. My meal, the "French Toast Plus" had some delicious bacon, better than average French toast, and a slightly dry scrambled egg. The scoop of butter on the French toast tasted salty. Free refills on the sodas, carrying both Pepsi and Coke. The did offer a military discount.I read more

Amen!!! Make the decision then do what you gotta do!! Stay the course, great things are on the other side of your decision!! They have poor customer satisfaction in take out and online orders. Though you pay the same as fine in they purposefully withhold, jam, Catsup and honey butter they comes with scones stating they don't give out " free condiments". In person ordering for take out is supposed to come with honey butter and the easy over egg was near burnt. The large orange juice was watered down, I went into the store to resolve their issues and left the crappy oj..they told me NO refunds. I took the food. They don't provide the same level of service with take out or online, don't expect to be given choices you only get to use "free" condiments with dine in. I'll pass on all three. This was my first visit to this location only having visited another location many years ago. We entered from the back down a long hallway and we're promptly seated. The main room is large and roomy and loud. While the menu has many options, nothing stood out as unique to me and the burgers and sandwiches are super pricey. I ended up getting breakfast - which they serve all day. Same as the menu nothing unique or memorable about it. Sadly the eggs were a bit over cooked and the pancake crumbled making it difficult to even get any on the fork. My co-diners had the fish & chips and a special of the day. They said their meals were good. I do give huge props to our server as she was the vest part of the experience. She was super personable and great taking care of us. read more

Not good, I ordered a grilled cheese with bacon and fries. The sandwich was toasted on one side cheese was not melted. Before I noticed only half of the sandwich was only cooked. And the fries were raw. I put fry sauce on the sandwich. The waitress after 10 min and my wife flagging her down. She came and said she would have it replaced. I kid you not she brought back the same sandwich fry sauce and all. after I had touched it with the other side of the bread toasted. The fries were not cooked. My wife asked to speak to the manager. The waitress comes back shortly later and says. The manager is upstairs and too busy to come down. Too busy to talk to the one of maybe five people in the restaurant. I will never go back! And will be reporting this situation to the board of health. I am healthy but what if I wasn't? What other people have sent their food back that might be sick? My wife and I stopped here while at a wrestling tournament in stansbury park. The menu has a lot of options so it takes time to go through it all and decide what to get. I ended up going with the smaller size special burrito. The burrito was large enough for me, in fact I couldn't finish it. The regular burrito must be huge. It comes with eggs, hash browns, cheese, and your choice of breakfast meat all smothered in Chile verde and topped with cheese. The Chile verde has good flavor and the perfect amount of kick for me. My wife thought it was a bit too spicy. I'd order this again it was really good. My wife ordered the Philly cheesesteak with tots. It was the weirdest cheesesteak I've ever seen. The meat appeared to be cooked in the slow cooker and tasted like pot roast. It didn't look or taste like a Philly cheesesteak at all. It was pot roast on bread. It was just ok, do not order that. What an upgrade! Virg's is totally unrecognizable in it's new location downtown, but it's got the same menu that everyone loves. I live out of town but come to Tooele every year to visit family, and Virg's is a Tooele institution that I never miss. This new location is a totally new vibe for the restaurant. The old place kind of made Virg's feel like a hole-in-the-wall restaurant where the food redeemed the less-than-ideal location. But now I would say Virg's has a diner vibe that is a couple steps more upscale from the other diners in town. Nice big welcoming entrance and tons of comfortable seating. (For those interested, the must-stop Tooele tourist circuit for my family is Hunan Village, Virg's, Dairy Delight, and Janna's.) This morning I tried the "small" Special Burrito with sausage instead of ham, which was excellent. Easily at least two portions, I can't even imagine what the regular size must look like. The "Verde" sauce (not sure why Verde is in quotes on the menu) is the selling point. It is so rich and flavorful. Pictures don't do it justice but I will post one anyway. Another dish suggestion: My grandma hasn't stopped talking about Virg's Fish & Chips for at least 20 years. She says it's the best in town and trust me when I say that she has probably eaten every single Fish & Chips meal within 30 miles at some point, so she knows her stuff. read more

I decided to skip the big brand restaurant and try something local for dinner! I stopped in Virg's and had the broccoli cheese soup and mushroom swiss burger! There are several size options for the burger 1/2 lbs, 1lbs and a 2lbs family size option! I choose the 1/2 lbs and it was good. The burger was well cooked and the bun was delicious! I am not quite sure how this place is still in business. The food is absolutely horrible, the restaurant is so dirty.

I generally have no issues when eating here but this time was horrid. my daughter and I both ordered eggs Benedict and received eggs that yolks were rock hard. when asked to make more after 10 minutes still nothing. we also asked for extra avocado and tomato and didn't receive that as well. when I asked the cashier and pointed out how eggs very hard etc... and did not get the fixed eggs she stated "we are very busy". fixing a mistake should be priority!!!! and if you don't know how to make eggs Benedict then I suggest you take it off the menu. my daughter has ordered it in the past with no issues. For New Years Day 2024 I had the worst service ever! I usually don't have issues with Virgs. This is actually the first time this has happened. But I order the scrambled Egg burrito on the Cheapie menu. The cooks messed up on my order twice! They added Chili Verde on my burrito and I didn't want that! I asked the waitress to fix it and bring back what I asked for. The second time I started eating it and not only was there chili verde in my burrito but there was also jalapeños in my burrito! I was furious! I didn't ask for either of those! The waitress explained that the scrambled burrito comes with Jalapeños and I swear to God that is incorrect! Every time I order this burrito it didn't come with Jalapeños. They didn't even remake my burrito! And I was charged for this nonsense! The waitress and the cooks need to pay attention! If you're trying to decide between Virg's or someplace else, choose the other place. We popped in today for brunch. Seated right away as they were not busy. I asked for lemon wedges with my water. Server brought our drinks, said she would be right back with the lemons. 15 minutes later she takes the order for the table right behind us. I wait a few more minutes, trying to be kind, turn around to see her just standing around, doing nothing. We had to flag down another server to ask for lemons. I was hoping the food would make up for the service but it was disappointing as well. Everything we ordered was dry. It was dry like beef jerky dry. The potatoes were dry too. Absolutely no taste at all. Will not be going back, at least not to this location. read more
