I was so grateful to have worked with Stella on my wedding this past May. She did such a beautiful job with my look and was extremely patient when we needed to make a few tweaks. Coordinating the intensive schedule (we had 13 people needing hair and makeup in the span of 4 hours) was made so much easier by her flexibility, and she made my bridesmaids and mom look so beautiful, too! Two things that were really important to me when hiring a hair stylist were 1) ability to work with textured hair, and 2) being LGBTQ-inclusive. She absolutely nailed the assignment, and my bridesmaids who I was particularly sensitive about when hiring the beauty team felt so well taken care of and welcomed by her. This was the best gift to start out the day. The company we hired for some of the other party members ended up botching my flower girl's textured hair a bit, and Stella stepped in after they left and stayed late to help fix it - no charge. Stella is an amazing hair stylist!! We used her as our stylist for our wedding a few weeks ago and are so happy we did! First of all, she does an amazing job!! Second, she is easy to talk to and makes you feel comfortable and relaxed on your wedding day! I was so happy with how my hair turned out and so were all my bridesmaids. Even my sister, who is normally so picky about her hair was thrilled with how it turned out, telling me she LOVED her hair and that my hair stylist is super talented. Stella also listened to the changes I made after the trial I had done. For example, I mentioned that there were a lot of pins in my head for the updo after my trial and I have a sensitive head so it hurt after awhile. I figured there was not much she could do to fix this as updos just tend to require a lot of pins, but she worked her magic and on my wedding day, there was no discomfort at all! Loved Stella! Stella loves to play with hair and innovate designs -- her braids are mind blowing. My trial with her felt like a slumber party with a dear friend. We had a blast the day of the wedding volleying witticisms between Stella, our makeup artist Audrey Crandell, and my band of mimosa wielding friends. She was so patient with us - spending extra time with me to go through every permutation of hairstyle I wanted, and then rolling with the punches when I changed my mind the day of the wedding. We updated our day-of schedule, and who was receiving services, at least 4 times. She took to lead on coordinating with our make-up artist Audrey to create a schedule. Not enough can be said about the talent laying just in Stella's little finger, let alone all ten of them! She is creative and sophisticated, sweet and understanding. I came to her with an elaborate birdcage veil that I designed. While putting the veil together I got carried away with flamboyant feathers and beading accents and when I saw it finished I wasn't sure how I was going to pull it off (not being especially elaborate or flamboyant myself). We set up a trial a month before the wedding and she whipped up an gorgeous up do including a soft finger wave that complimented the vintage theme I was going for and carried my veil perfectly. It's time now to do my wedding vendor reviews, and I'll start with a very easy one. 5 stars all the way for Stella!! When I first contacted Stella, she responded back promptly. I am generally pretty needy about my hair, and I was very confused about what I wanted for my wedding hairstyle, so I was pretty anxious to do a trial with her. However, I live in LA, and it was going to be a couple months before I could go to the Bay Area for my trial. In the meantime, I e-mailed her tons of photos and asked her for her advice and opinions on what I should do. She was extremely patient and helpful in going back and forth with me about ideas, explaining what would work and what wouldn't work, and she always addressed every point I made in my e-mails. Getting these kind of thoughtful responses really helped put my mind at ease. When it came time for the trial, she was very friendly and easy to talk to. You can tell she enjoys what she does and is very knowledgeable and creative. She did a curled updo for my trial, which I LOVED. Just before the wedding, I freaked out and decided I might want to go with a half up style instead. I asked Stella if she would be able to start with a half up style the day of the wedding, and convert it into my original updo in case I didn't like it. She said that would be no problem as long as there was enough time. I ended up loving the half up style. She worked with me on the little nitpicky things I asked for. Stella is fabulous at what she does!! I knew Stella did hair in the wedding industry and I tried to book her for my wedding. She was actually unavailable because she was on her honeymoon! I was very disappointed but had another plan on the back burner. I knew that after things settled down with Stella's own wedding and mine, that I could contact her to do my hair on a regular basis. Stella was super responsive when I contacted her to do my hair. She offered me an appointment and I was able to get in within a couple of business days. I went up to Santa Rosa twice before my wedding for cuts and for a trial run for my wedding hair. Stella was so nice and had a lot of patience with me as I tried to articulate exactly what I wanted my hair to look like for my special day. I didn't feel rushed at all and she was very personable. My hair was unique and really complimented my dress. My mom was having her hair done too and her hair is well past her waist and I was concerned that our options were limited. Stella asked that I send her a pic of my mom's hair by email and told me she would come up with some ideas for the wedding. Stella was able to fit me in for another appointment to have my highlights and a haircut done before my wedding day to compliment my wedding hair. She was also able to accomodate my husband for his color and cut. The day of my wedding Stella showed up on time and was ready to go. She started with my mom's hair and it was a work of art - absolutely beautiful and she didn't even have a trial - Stella is amazingly talented. My hair was more beautiful than it had been in the trial. My wedding day was windy and I was concerned that my hair wouldn't hold up.
