I come to Lake Charles a few times a month for work, and this is now my office-away-from-home. I always order the spiced chai w/ 2 shots of espresso, and that is always superb. This is the type of coffee shop you would find in a much larger, much funkier town. If you love coffee and look for independent shops when you travel, don't get your hopes up or go out of your way for this place. Hand-poured coffee tasted pretty gross. Cold brew was OK...definitely just OK. "Fruit" Smoothies are made from super, super sweet fruit syrup mush stuff. Dusty inside and smelled like a fryer. My hair still smells like fried food. There were 10 or so patrons in the place who seemed to be enjoying themselves, so it may be a good place to go if you live in Lake Charles, but if you're just passing through hoping for that "gem" of a local coffee shop, keep driving. read more

I came in today and watched a customer be completely ignored by the barista behind the counter the brunette barista helped him and apologized tremendously only to then be yelled at by who I assume is her manager for being "extremely unprofessional". I didn't believe it was the brunette being "unprofessional" but instead the girl with the glasses who completely blew off a customer to get off of her shift a few minutes early. The sweet brunette is always there when I go, smiling, happy, and extremely kind. It's sad to see such a light be brought to tears by her superior for a mistake I don't believe was her own and then quietly continue her work alone with nobody else there to help. Her and her happiness is the reason I always come back and to see her cry absolutely shattered my heart. read more

Found this lil gem on Yelp and so glad we did. We had a croissant breakfast sandwich, with all things vegetarian on it, biscuits and gravy, one of their specialty coffees, a mango smoothie and then two muffins to-go. Everything was great. There was a musical talent entertaining us and lots of cool art and ceramics to admire. Service was great. Wow where do I start. If you don't feel like paying 12 dollars for one egg, three pieces of spinach, unmelted cheese, and half a strip of bacon, then I highly recommend you do not go here. Furthermore, you are required to tip the cashier in order to finish your transaction. All in all I could have made a much better breakfast in the comfort of my own home; waste of time, gas, and money I could have used to tip an actual waitress. read more

I'm a Lake Charles native and recently went back for a visit. I was staying downtown and craving beignets for breakfast, and a search turned up Stellar Beans. I'm very glad it did! It has the casual, funky atmosphere of an established city place, but still features a few Louisiana standbys you can't get just anywhere (believe me, beignets are not on the menu of my current neighborhood coffee shop). The cafe au lait was excellent, just the right temperature and strength. The beignets, while not world-class (I suspect they were made from a mix), were hot and fresh and absolutely satisfied my craving. It was mid to late morning on a Saturday, so the place was bustling, but never felt cramped or crowded. Definitely on the list for my next trip. read more

It's an awesome looking coffee shop in downtown Lake Charles. It has eclectic furniture & interiors are decorated with local art on sale. Atmosphere is quiet and laid back for you to work on a project or just kick back and enjoy your delicious coffee. They have a wide variety of coffee & teas. The sandwich selection is ample and all of them are freshly made - I have been there 4 times tried chicken salad sandwich, croissant, breakfast sandwich and breakfast casserole - all good! Try their Mayan mocha and cherry blossom tea, both were great tasting! A tip ask for less sugar if you like your drinks not too sweet, the coffee artists will try their best to customize their signature drinks for you per your taste. If you love a great coffee shop then Stellar Beans is the place for you!! It's so welcoming when you walk in and it's a great space to hang out with a friend or alone. I just stopped in for a cold brew coffee while passing through town, and honestly I wish we would have had time to stay a while. The ladies who work here are fabulous! I had a few questions about some of the drinks and they took the time to explain plus made recommendations. I really appreciated the time they gave me and I never felt rushed to make my decision on what to order. In the end I ordered a cold brew coffee for my friend and myself. I asked for the cream on the side which meant I had too much to carry back to the car, but one of the ladies helped me carry everything to the car which was so unexpected and very much appreciated. The cold brew here at Stellar Beans is just that it's stellar!!! It's so good it makes me wish I didn't live 3 hours away. I know for sure whenever I pass through Lake Charles I'll be stopping for coffee here, and hopefully one day I'll have some extra time to hang out for a while. Stellar Beans is an awesome place! I don't like coffee or tea, but I ask for a frozen hot chocolate and can get a flavor added because of the flavors that can be added to the coffee or tea. The food is also delicious. You might expect food like at Starbucks, but when the kitchen is open (which is most of the time when the store is open), the food is made fresh! The sandwiches on croissants are mouth watering! Their bagels are also very good! The chocolate dessert is so rich that it can easily be shared among two to three people, if not more! Stellar Beans is a cute little coffee shop right in downtown Lake Charles. I loved the atmosphere and how cozy it was. My hubby and I went in on a Sunday afternoon. There were only a couple patrons, but a long line at the counter. The wait was ridiculous. I think they only had maybe 2 people working the entire restaurant... and that included being a cook, barista, and cashier. I think we waited 15 minutes just to order, then another 10 for food, then another 10 for our coffees. I wasn't too thrilled with the food quality, and the coffee was just ok. read more

Never knew Lake Charles had a downtown. Coffee shop was quite cute, we went to check out an Irish Folk singer. Haven't had a Snicker Doodle coffee in years so I was pretty excited to see it on their menu. Coffee was very good. There were unique local art hanging throughout their walls which I liked. I also liked the different art on each table top. There were couches comfy chairs you can sit, games, books. Seems like a great spot for coffee and hang with friends. Not too sure about their food menu but from what I saw at the tables next to me for the price it just seemed small and should be more appetizing.
