The service is great nice place to have a intimate event. The bathroom is clean. The bartender provided the best customer service experience. I've had in a while and the prices are reasonable they do have a light food menu

Lovely place to hang out and people watch while sipping wonderful wine! Inside seating as well. The bartender is always gracious, knowledgeable and multi-tasking! Great guy!

LOVE this place. First time I've ever said that in a review but it's true. Great chill spot to have some wine or in my case a sugar free non alcoholic bevvie. A group of us were at Mississippi St. fair and decided to stop here for some wine and cool beverages. The people working were incredibly nice and accommodating the music was bumping, AC pumping and the beverages were delicious. Can't wait to go back.

Came here while visiting a friend in Portland and I LOVED IT. The wine was amazing and we had the best server who was super knowledgeable and accommodating of our preferences. I forget her name but she was blonde with short hair. Would definitely recommend checking this place out if you're into vibey, cozy, and chill wine spots.

The vibes here are great. I really enjoyed the service we had and the recommended wine + NA options. I would love to try everything on the menu.

Chris is exceptional! His attention to service and wine knowledge is superb. Unsure of what your want? Describe to Chris what you like (dry, white, region, palate expression) and he'll bring you the goods. Their wine list should please anyone both new and advanced in vino culture. Great interior decor and fun to people watch. This is a Mississippi must stop!

Camilla the Hen with her flight! Who said hens can't fly?!?
    Elle J.

Camilla the Yelping Hen makes no secret of her love of champers. "Cluck! Cluck!" She will enthusiastically say when she happens to pass by a place with bubbles. Maybe the bubbles dance like the droplets off of her feathers as she enthusiastically takes her bird bath? Maybe those bubbles rush away like the many grubs and such that she hunts down each day? Perhaps they float like her favorite chia seeds in a healthy morning snack? Or she likes to get her bird buzz on! At any rate she demanded a flight which confused me at first but turned out to be a tasting of 4 bubbling wines... Who said hens can't fly?!? The flight was alright, about $22 ( not that Camilla was paying)... and it was nice to sit outside around people and be somewhat social. They have a lot of different flights and wines. So something for the whole group. Minus a star because they really have no info with the flights. It's like here is some wine enjoy.. I'd like more info. Camilla? She had a great time!

My wife surprised me when I came home on Tuesday night, informing me that she'd booked a table at Stem Wine Bar in order to watch the Mardi Gras parade on Mississippi Ave. A nice surprise; I didn't even know we had a Mardi Gras parade in Portland! (Spoiler alert: it's short and not all that great, but hey, what else are you going to do on a Tuesday night?) Unfortunately, it seemed everyone else in the city DID know. We set out with plenty of time to make our reservation time, only to find a dearth of parking spots for a six block radius around the bar. By the time we wedged our vehicle into a spot and made it to Stem, it was too late to claim our table (our fault, not theirs). We ended up seated inside, too far removed to see the parade, but we still enjoyed our visit, for the most part. I have nothing but rave reviews for the wine we sampled, as well as the cheese plate, olives and King Cake (we found the baby! 10% off our bill! Woohoo!), and our server, whose name I forgot to catch, was fantastic...when he was available. Problem is, he was the only employee working, due to a recent staffing shortage, as well as the owner failing to turn up earlier, as expected. This left him scrambling to serve at least a dozen tables, while simultaneously attempting to conduct an interview with the female applicant sitting at the table adjacent to us. The fact that he was able to pull it all off, without wait times becoming aggravatingly long, is a feat borne of experience and professionalism, and he was able to keep a polite, positive and welcoming demeanor throughout. He deserves a raise (and when the owner eventually arrived to conclude things with the interviewee later in the night, I mentioned as much)! In addition to the snacks mentioned above, I ordered the "Dealer's Choice", where the bartender selects either an on-or-off menu vintage, for a slightly reduced price. Our random surprise ended up being a Domaine Colin "Blanc Vieilles Vignes" 2020, which my wife succinctly described as "Nutella wine", with sweet and nutty notes. We enjoyed it enough that we will likely have to hunt it down somewhere in the near future. The faults in our experience at Stem Wine Bar stemmed (hah!) from a lack of adequate staffing, and nothing else, and as evidenced by the rather hectic interview taking place next to us, they are taking steps to correct this shortfall. Everything else, from ambiance to service to selection, is impeccable. I get the feeling the Mardi Gras parade caught a lot of businesses off-guard; why else would a Tuesday night be *that* busy, right? Regardless, we won't be giving up Stem Wine Bar for Lent, or any other reason, for that matter. We'll be back.

Love any place with pup friendly tables. Hemi our 13 year old tri thanks you.

We were thrilled to see Stem is open. We're visiting from not too far away and we were glad we could try the holiday tasting flight. Absolutely delicious. With cute tables, heat lamps and the company of our pup, we had a great experience. Edited to say Thank you for the wonderful treats. So very kind!

Aspen greets me like an old friend, a happy welcome into an expansive, ethereal space that feels more like LA than (perennially in the 90s) Portland. Low lounge & hi-top tables surround an open-air kitchen - transparency in the atmosphere as well as their "nose-to-tail" cooking techniques. The bar is long and dotted with glowing agate votives, vines extending down over a broad selection of booze (whisky & bourbon by style, including Japanese). One menu offers cheeky cocktails, mocktails, and a wide variety of Willamette bottles + a broad selection of European & South American wines. Another menu presents Cold dishes/RAW bar/Small Plates & Larger (sharing recommended). First course is a bluefin TUNA SASHIMI (butchered in-house with absolute precision) alongside a Serrano black sugar tamari (RIDICULOUS blend of salty/umami/spicy/sweet and smartly balanced by THICK-cut servings of tuna & chutoro (3x3). The fresh fish shines, as does explosive flavor in the sauce. Brilliant, bravo! Second, bartender recommends a house-favorite DUMPLING - this is one like never before, blending Linguiça (a Portuguese sausage), leeks, and cabbage that has a familiar texture within tissue-thin rice dumplings, but completely original umami, especially paired with the Japanese curry. It's wholesome and comforting, not too filling, and entirely new. THIRD if I MAE (pronunciation, questionable) - LAMB SPARE RIBS in a heaping portion with sweet/spicy tamarind sticky sauce that's barely reminiscent of BBQ. It's the cilantro herb salad on top that makes it sing - textures and flavors are exotic, playful, herbal & roasted at once. Whether you're seeking a hot date night, a special staycation (right here in the Historic Arts District), or hosting a board meeting, there is space and plenty of taste for all, with a refinement in technique characteristic of larger cities. A sweet and savory reminder that family is a state of mind, and we're all connected for better or worse.

To speak about Teardrop Lounge, I should probably start with this:…read more Ladies and gentlemen, I present my favorite cocktail bar. Not the best -- I'm not arrogant enough to claim that. I haven't been to every cocktail bar in Portland, and saying something is the best usually says more about your lack of experience than your conviction. But favorite? That I can stand behind. And I want to get that out of the way early, because of the amount of praise I'm about to pour on this place -- fully earned, completely intentional. The biggest crime here is that I only discovered it two weeks ago, after living in Portland for a year. It had been recommended to me countless times, and I ignored it. A mistake. A painful one. But now that I've found it, I don't plan on making that mistake again. I'm not typically an Old Fashioned drinker. In fact, I usually hate them. But somewhere between curiosity and too many episodes of Mad Men, I decided to try one anyway -- fully expecting to confirm my bias. Instead, it completely flipped me. Bright, almost citrus-forward in a way that felt unusual but entirely intentional. Balanced, smooth, just enough burn to remind you what you're drinking without overwhelming it. It was the first time I actually understood the appeal. I'm pretty sure I grew a few chest hairs that night. That alone would've been impressive. But it didn't stop there. The space is beautiful -- clean, intentional, but not cold. The staff are excellent: personable, engaged, and most importantly, authentic. Not scripted, not performative. The kind of people you actually want to talk to, and hopefully, eventually be on a first-name basis with. Now, all of that gets it close to a perfect score. But what pushes it over the edge -- what makes this place stick -- is the White Russian. One of the first drinks I ever had. My dad's drink. Not because of The Big Lebowski -- that came later -- but because it's just always been his thing. And at some point, it became mine too. Typically, when bars try to "elevate" a White Russian, they ruin it. They overthink it. Swap ingredients, tweak ratios, add unnecessary flair. And more often than not, it ends in disappointment. Teardrop does the opposite. They respect it -- but refine it. The coffee liqueur actually tastes like coffee. The heavy cream is properly integrated, not just dumped on top. The vodka -- whatever they're using -- is clean, present, and perfectly measured. There's a subtle complexity to it without losing what makes the drink what it is. It's the best White Russian I've ever had. No hesitation. I've gone back twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It wasn't. If someone asked me what my death row drink would be -- this specific cocktail, from this specific bar, is in the conversation. Easily. Teardrop Lounge doesn't just make great cocktails. It reminds you why cocktails matter in the first place. And that's why it's my favorite.

There are a few dining tables inside if you're planning to have a meal as well. The bartender was incredibly friendly and took the time to chat with me after I asked for a few recommendations. The drinks were excellent, well-balanced, flavorful, and actually tasted like proper cocktails instead of just juice. They definitely didn't skimp on the alcohol either! I'm really glad I chose this place to celebrate. It ended up being the perfect spot for the occasion.

Break up the yolk to dip with the pork. The cucumbers and green beans are a nice clean accompaniment; spicy fish sauce was great - White curry with brisket burnt ends: I've never had a white curry, but the white curry and cauliflower was a great match for the super rich brisket pieces. I love the interesting combination!
