DONT BOOK THIS TEAM. I was living in Chicago planning my wedding for May 21st in Dallas and needless to say she was the most unprofessional, undependable person and team. Stephanie worked with me over a 7th month period to fly in for TWO trials. The first was not to par to put it lightly. The makeup she did looked standard and like my everyday makeup and the hair was half done when i left. I then came for a second trial from Chicago and everything went well, but not perfect again. She told me i HAD to order clip in hair ($119) plus get a spray tan ($50) and fly in right before the wedding again to try again to get it the way i wanted. Also to set the stage, i wan ted a glow makeup look and a simple curled up do, nothing hard or complicated. After ALL this.... Stephanie e mailed me in the middle of the day 2 weeks and a day before my wedding and CANCELLED on me out of nowhere, stating it was not the "right fit" ...After numerous attempts to call her after receiving an EMAIL about her cancelling on me and offer more money or to discuss what the reasoning was live, she did not answer, call me back or try to contact me. Later to find out based on her posting a photo on her instagram, that she had double booked herself that day, which was the true reason she cancelled on me. Stephanie is unprofessional, unreliable and NOT a true artist. She did sub par work and in the end put me in a lurch at the last minute without having the decency to call me directly and explain what had happened. Again this is after 7 months of a contract being solidified. If you are looking to look stunning on your big day and truly know what you are getting, DONT GO TO HER. The team is very organized and well prepared for the day! They arrived with timelines and face charts for everyone, which made for a smooth day with no surprises! I had a pretty amazing experience, emailing throughout and then with my hair and makeup artist Ashlee. Did a hair trial with her first (fabulous, loved it) and then she really delivered for me and my bridesmaids on the big day. It was a very pleasurable way to spend the hours leading up to the ceremony which I would recommend to other brides, and I have simply never looked or felt more beautiful. Stephanie and her team did my wedding makeup, along with my mom's and bridesmaid's. She did my makeup the night before for my rehearsal dinner and it was amazing too! So the day off the wedding, they showed up early, which was a feat because we had to get started at 5:30 a.m. The team was all in a great mood, they did an amazing job. Our makeup and hair lasted all day and all night. We had a brunch wedding and then an after party that lasted until 11:30 p.m. so the fact that I still looked great after 17 hours says a lot. Stephanie did two hair trials for me because I wasn't excited about the first one. So not only did I love them for this special occasion, I went back for a makeup lesson. For the first time ever I've been able to do take ladies and different eye application styles which I love! I am actually planning a girls day to have a small group do a makeup lesson as well. I chose Stephanie to do my hair and makeup for my wedding... and I don't recommend her. To be fair, I waited way too long to book my hair and makeup and had to go with whoever was available three weeks before the date. When I first contacted her she was quick to respond and said she was available for my date. And her rates were comparable to other makeup artists. However, with as much as I paid for the hair and makeup it should have been much better quality. Once I paid her, I found out she actually had two other weddings already booked that day and if she did do the hair and makeup for my wedding, we'd have to be ready FOUR hours before our evening wedding began. Since by now it was definitely too late to find another makeup artist, I chose her other option, which was to have her assistants come. But that was actually her just subcontracting the job out to a person who works at Dry Bar and another who works at a mall makeup counter. Because the hair person wasn't good at working with different types of hair, (my mom said she thought the hair person had just graduated from beauty school) she had to redo two people's hair and she had some difficulty with my hair too (I can see my scalp in some of the photos). This put us more than an hour behind schedule and we weren't able to take the photos we needed before the wedding and had to rush through our first look. We then had to take the photos we needed before the wedding during the cocktail hour and had to take the photos we should have taken during the cocktail hour during the reception! However, the makeup artist Krystie did a fantastic job and my makeup lasted the whole night. Another plus: when I contacted Stephanie and complained about the hair person, she refunded the cost of the hair for those two people. read more

I tried to meet this makeup artist. She communicated several times, and presented dates to meet. I noticed that she never provided her phone number on the email or her website ,which was a red flag. I agreed the day prior via email to a appt at 4:30pm Wed. at her location. I showed up to her location and her comment was "oh sorry I did not expect you". She obviously double booked two clients . I was considering her for a wedding party of 12 women for makeup and hair. Needless to say, she did not keep her appt, never provided me a ph number to reach her when I provide her with mine. When I showed up she turned me away with no remorse. Not to mention her location is in a really BAD part of Dallas. Don't trust this woman with a special day or you will be disappointed read more

I first contacted this company on TheKnot.com. I messaged asking for availability and rates. The booking woman was very friendly in her response and said she would answer any questions I may have. I did have a few and responded. At first they were very prompt in returning e-mails and all of a sudden went cold turkey. I messaged SEVERAL times throught The Knot messaging, called the cell phone number that was provided. When I called the cell number the voicemail provided me with an e-mail address that would help get a quicker response. I tried this e-mail address MANY MANY MANY times. I had ZERO responses from this company after the initial conversation. I asked them to let me know EITHER WAY if they booked my date or not. STILL NO RESPONSES. I thought to myself that something may had happened but the companies instagram and facebook were still being updated. I will NEVER suggest this company to all my engaged friends who are getting married. VERY poor customer service. BEWARE. read more

I worked with Stephanie Nelson Hair & Makeup for my wedding this past spring. Daniela did my trial and my day-of services, and she was amazing!!! A friend of mine recommended Daniela after Daniela did her wedding makeup, and everything was just as great as she had said! I booked everything with Stephanie, and she was super nice and easy to work with. My MOH and I had so much fun at my trial, and all my girls (3 bridesmaids and a flower girl) and I had a blast getting our makeup done at one of my bridesmaids' houses on the day-of. Stephanie provided a timeline beforehand so we knew exactly what to expect. Daniela arrived on time and ready to go. She was so much fun and so nice, really put my nerves at ease and made me feel (and look!) beautiful! My makeup stayed flawless all night and the touch-up lipstick she gave me kept me looking fabulous after dinner and drinks. I couldn't have been happier with everything. I just had my wedding on 5/29 in McKinney, TX. I had hair and makeup done for two moms, two bridesmaids and myself. From the beginning, I loved Stephanie's quick and informative responses, plus her detailed services and contract. Victoria was my head makeup/hair person and she did my trial appointment. From the moment I met her, Victoria was kind, happy and just a generally nice person. She listened to all of my requests and walked me through everything that she was doing. I especially loved that hair and makeup ideas for everyone were required to be sent via email to Stephanie 1 week beforehand, as well as a quick questionnaire for each person. This helped everyone to focus on what they wanted and made the day go so much more smoothly. When my wedding day came, Victoria and Daniella, were on-time and set-up early. They were kind and patient when listening to everyone and their requests. After all of hair and makeup was done, everyone was 100% happy with their final result and everyone looked beautiful.
