    Dreams really do come true

I have know Stephen Hemmert for many years now , as a wine maker and friend. Along with his wife and entire family, they have had a vision of what he wanted his wines to be. He knew from the beginning, what he wanted and now , his tasting room reflects his dedication as a wine maker, community activist, and family man. I highly recommend you to visit his dream

Even the owner goes out of their way to be kind, personable, and welcoming. Their wines are amazing and delicious. Very high quality, and very reasonably priced. They regularly create new styles and batches, so definitely ask what's new when you visit. They also host fun special events that make the experience even better. One thing I really love is that you can bring in your own food. They do also offer charcuterie boards that are absolutely delicious, although they sometimes sell out because they're so popular. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and truly feels like home. Everyone here is genuinely friendly, which is rare to find these days. I always leave in a better mood than when I arrived. Highly recommend. p.s. Make sure your GPS gives you the right address. Occasionally, it will take you to the wrong location.

We went in for the wine tasting, which comes with five wines: one white, one rosé, and three reds. Their wines are definitely on the drier side. I really enjoyed their reds and their Chardonnay. They also have a cute little shop inside with snacks and gift options. I picked up some crackers and organic raspberry Red Vines, which was a fun little bonus. The downside for me was the tasting experience. Tastings are done at the counter, so we had to stand at the bar while tasting, even though there is plenty of beautiful seating throughout the property. There were three people working behind the bar. The two helpers were very kind, friendly, and seemed like they were learning the ropes. Unfortunately, the woman with the long black, curly/wavy hair seemed to be running the show, and her personality really put a damper on our experience. She came across as extremely cold and unwelcoming, and honestly looked like she didn't want to be there, girl looks miserable. We didn't stay after the tasting. I really like being able to relax and enjoy my time at a winery, and when the service feels unwelcoming, it takes away from the experience for me. I was there with two friends and was actually considering celebrating my birthday there, but I couldn't see myself spending more time in that atmosphere. So we decided to leave and head up the street to Reyes Winery...and honestly, I'm SO happy we did! If you're interested, head over to my Yelp and check out my review of Reyes Winery. The difference in the experience was night and day!

But Reyes Winery completely turned things around for us! The drive in is beautiful. You take a dirt road that leads you into this gorgeous entrance with a water fountain surrounded by vines. It immediately gives you that peaceful, rustic winery feeling. When we walked into the tasting room, there were about 4-5 tables inside along with the bar. The gentleman working that day told us we could sit wherever we wanted and that he would bring the tasting to us. He was working alone and was clearly busy, so I was honestly surprised but very appreciative...that we could sit wherever we wanted and enjoy the view. My friends and I chose a table outside, and he brought us the tasting menu. Their wine tasting comes with 7 tastings, and I was really happy with the selection! What really made this experience special was the service. The gentleman helping us was absolutely wonderful...so kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. He was younger and had long hair...I really wish I had gotten his name because he deserves the recognition, but unfortunately I completely forgot. He was handling everything by himself and somehow still managed to make everyone feel taken care of. He kept checking on us, making suggestions, and chatting with us throughout our visit. He found out it was my birthday and even surprised me with a complimentary glass of wine, which I thought was incredibly kind! We enjoyed the atmosphere and the wine so much that we ended up staying for about two hours. It was such a fun, relaxed experience, and before leaving, all three of us bought bottles to take home to support the business. Thank you so much for making our experience so wonderful, light, and fun! We will absolutely be returning the next time we're in the area. If you're in the area and debating which winery to visit, give Reyes Winery a chance! Out of the wineries we visited, this was easily our favorite experience.

Large kitchen facility behind can be seen through huge plate glass window. You can order various prepared meats, sausages, cheeses, paste & sauces from the deli counter to take out or eat in along with wines to pair it with. I chose to eat inside which has bistro tables & chairs along with the house red wine du jour. Didn't notice a sales person who could take on the role of sommelier & would advise what types of wines would pair with the ordered food. 1) I bought 2 oz portions to taste and chose: a) Bresaola air dried beef with black pepper, Porcini mushroom, celery powder not made in Lombardia, Italia, but distributed from Brooklyn, NYC. b) Sujuk, an Armenian style of domestic origin, that was "uncured" beef, lamb, red wine, garlic, celery. c) Prosciutto but not "di Parma", but some domestic U.S. production. All the above prepared meats were acceptable, but not exceptional in comparison to what I had in Italy although I have not been to Armenia. 1-3a) The house red wine was Casa Silva Terroir de Familia Carmènere Viñedo de los Andes Valle de Colchagua, Chile. It tasted flat, dull, insipid; not particularly interesting red wine of any note. The staff member was accommodating, helpful if not the most informative & knowledgeable about the comestibles and libation that I had ordered. For a far off outpost like Lancaster, Simplicity is impressive, and the selection of meats and cheeses are extensive. However, what I had sampled did not particularly impress. 3 stars.
