    Dreams really do come true

I have know Stephen Hemmert for many years now , as a wine maker and friend. Along with his wife and entire family, they have had a vision of what he wanted his wines to be. He knew from the beginning, what he wanted and now , his tasting room reflects his dedication as a wine maker, community activist, and family man. I highly recommend you to visit his dream

Large kitchen facility behind can be seen through huge plate glass window. You can order various prepared meats, sausages, cheeses, paste & sauces from the deli counter to take out or eat in along with wines to pair it with. I chose to eat inside which has bistro tables & chairs along with the house red wine du jour. Didn't notice a sales person who could take on the role of sommelier & would advise what types of wines would pair with the ordered food. 1) I bought 2 oz portions to taste and chose: a) Bresaola air dried beef with black pepper, Porcini mushroom, celery powder not made in Lombardia, Italia, but distributed from Brooklyn, NYC. b) Sujuk, an Armenian style of domestic origin, that was "uncured" beef, lamb, red wine, garlic, celery. c) Prosciutto but not "di Parma", but some domestic U.S. production. All the above prepared meats were acceptable, but not exceptional in comparison to what I had in Italy although I have not been to Armenia. 1-3a) The house red wine was Casa Silva Terroir de Familia Carmènere Viñedo de los Andes Valle de Colchagua, Chile. It tasted flat, dull, insipid; not particularly interesting red wine of any note. The staff member was accommodating, helpful if not the most informative & knowledgeable about the comestibles and libation that I had ordered. For a far off outpost like Lancaster, Simplicity is impressive, and the selection of meats and cheeses are extensive. However, what I had sampled did not particularly impress. 3 stars.

The vodka cream sauce was very flavorful but the shrimp was pretty much not there, and that was an additional 8 dollars. The red pepper sauce was bland. You build your dish- pick the pasta and sauce, add protein etc for additional cost. I added shrimp to mine and there was maybe two in there cut into 4 pieces each. The bread sticks came with 4 at 22 bucks a piece, tasted a lil frost bitten. Overall a bit pricey and the food didn't quite match.

It helped that it wasn't crowded. The outdoor seating is nice. My friend and I shared the vegan BFF board. You get to select two cheeses. I highly recommend the brie. We thought we might also order a sandwich, but everything on the board along with a glass of wine for each of us was just the right amount of food for the 2 of us. I'm so glad this place has vegan options. I'm looking forward to trying their other cheeses, vegan meats, and their sandwiches.

They also have happy hour Tuesdays-Thursday from 2:00-5:30pm, where they offer house wines for $5 and personal cheese board for $10. For boards, I usually get the Goldilocks specialty board, which comes with 3 cheeses ranging in texture from soft to hard. For an additional cost, you can add meat: prosciutto, salami, Spanish chorizo, or half & half of any two. For paninis, everything I've tried was very good. I've had the Signature which has a double-cream brie, pear slices, mixed greens, and fig jam. Lib Grilled Cheese comes with three premium cheese blend, grilled with olive oil, and minced garlic. All paninis are on their sourdough bread and served with their signature side salad. The decor here is very cute - showcasing their cheese fridge and shelves lined with wines and jams available for purchase. There are some tables both indoors and outside. I recently saw that they host events, offer quick same-day catering within 2-3 hours of ordering, and deliver for orders up to 50 people! Always coming back for their cheese boards and great happy hour!

Our waiter was incredibly passive and at times it felt like we were being completely ignored. He would attend to tables around us but never checked in with us, had what seemed like a limited knowledge of the menu, and offered a half assed apology at the end of the night. The table next to us was clearly someone of importance, because they kept getting "gifted" foods, cheeses, drinks, etc. - which is fine, but only magnified our poor service. We also saw our food and beverages as well as other tables food and beverages be delivered to the wrong tables. My fiances sorbet was given to the special table next to us, but they had already had their dessert, and so the wait staff left with it and a minute later delivered it to our table melted. There was one staff member that was wonderful, and it seemed like he was a busboy who was filling in for our waiter (sorry I did not get his name) but he was very kind, personable, and would be the reason we come back, aside from the great food. There was also no acknowledgement of the special occasion we were celebrating, which is a minor thing but at other restaurants it's usually never missed and helps make for a nice experience especially when we mark that we are here celebrating an anniversary. All in all it was a disappointing experience. We may return for the food in the future, because it was excellent, but the service needs to be worked on.

As someone who belongs to several wine clubs, I was excited to discover a spot like this right in my own backyard. The showroom selection was beautiful, and the chocolate offerings (especially the blood orange dark chocolate) were a standout. Unfortunately, the experience quickly went downhill due to the service. When I asked the sommelier about their champagne, his response came across as arrogant and dismissive, implying that "everyone knows" it was entry-level and basic. It felt unnecessary and off-putting, especially when I was genuinely interested. After enjoying the band for a bit, my friends and I decided to sit on the outdoor patio, which looked very inviting. As I walked out, the sommelier actually chased after me along with another man from the doorway to tell me I couldn't take my wine outside. It felt uncomfortable and unnecessarily confrontational. When I asked why there was a seating area if drinks weren't allowed, the response was unclear and inconsistent. Overall, this place has great potential and a lovely atmosphere, but the sommelier's attitude really ruined the experience. It's especially disappointing if he is the owner, because that sets the tone for the entire establishment.
