    Dreams really do come true

I have know Stephen Hemmert for many years now , as a wine maker and friend. Along with his wife and entire family, they have had a vision of what he wanted his wines to be. He knew from the beginning, what he wanted and now , his tasting room reflects his dedication as a wine maker, community activist, and family man. I highly recommend you to visit his dream

Was a last minute visit I found on Groupon and it was so worth it. Art was very attentive during our tasting.

My first experience with Stephen and Nicole was a wine tasting I attended with several of my friends.

I have mixed feelings writing this because over the past 2 1/2 years, I have visited this winery…read morenumerous times. I was a wine club member for a year, I've paid and attended a couple of special events, checked out their outdoor vending market, and love coming by just to relax for a glass of wine. The wine itself is excellent, and the ladies behind the counter are always incredibly kind and informative. The grounds are mostly nice, and I do love visiting the animals in the back. Here are a few areas that fall short for me: Like I said, I've attended a couple of paid events here. And while the dessert vendor is absolutely delicious, the boxed sandwiches provided are disappointing and practically inedible. It's surprising they continue to use the same sandwich caterer for events. The outdoor middle area is so unattractive. Can't they do anything nicer than wood chips and bark? As a vendor myself, I wouldn't ever want to join their market events. Instead of placing booths and tables along the pretty and easy to walk perimeter, the vendors set up in this field of wood chips, which makes it an awkward setup for both the vendors and shoppers. Steve, the general manager, is incredibly nice and charismatic during events. However, on regular random visiting days, I've found him to be unfriendly and even somewhat rude. It's really odd and a disappointing contrast to his event persona. So overall, it's (mostly) a pretty spot with great wine and excellent front counter staff. Wish I could give it five stars. Maybe one day I will.

They have GRAPE STOMPING day the first Saturday in October. With a I Love Lucy look alike contest!!! Fabulous experience!!! Our tour of the grounds did not disappoint. Simplicity…read moreis closer to an umbrella delicatessen that includes fromagerie, charcuterie, magasin de vins, wine related accoutrements, catering, and culinary classes. Large kitchen facility behind can be seen through huge plate glass window. You can order various prepared meats, sausages, cheeses, paste & sauces from the deli counter to take out or eat in along with wines to pair it with. I chose to eat inside which has bistro tables & chairs along with the house red wine du jour. Didn't notice a sales person who could take on the role of sommelier & would advise what types of wines would pair with the ordered food. 1) I bought 2 oz portions to taste and chose: a) Bresaola air dried beef with black pepper, Porcini mushroom, celery powder not made in Lombardia, Italia, but distributed from Brooklyn, NYC. b) Sujuk, an Armenian style of domestic origin, that was "uncured" beef, lamb, red wine, garlic, celery. c) Prosciutto but not "di Parma", but some domestic U.S. production. All the above prepared meats were acceptable, but not exceptional in comparison to what I had in Italy although I have not been to Armenia. 1-3a) The house red wine was Casa Silva Terroir de Familia Carmènere Viñedo de los Andes Valle de Colchagua, Chile. It tasted flat, dull, insipid; not particularly interesting red wine of any note. The staff member was accommodating, helpful if not the most informative & knowledgeable about the comestibles and libation that I had ordered. For a far off outpost like Lancaster, Simplicity is impressive, and the selection of meats and cheeses are extensive. However, what I had sampled did not particularly impress. 3 stars.

The vodka cream sauce was very flavorful but the shrimp was pretty much not there, and that was an additional 8 dollars. The red pepper sauce was bland. You build your dish- pick the pasta and sauce, add protein etc for additional cost. I added shrimp to mine and there was maybe two in there cut into 4 pieces each. The bread sticks came with 4 at 22 bucks a piece, tasted a lil frost bitten. Overall a bit pricey and the food didn't quite match.
