I called because I was looking to purchase a 2001 911 Porsche. Anyone familiar with Porsche is aware that the 996 era has a known issue with the IMS bearing and it is recommended to have the single-row bearing replaced. I see online that this a rather standard kit that can be done as a proactive measure to prevent an engine failure. I explained that I wanted to get a ballpark replacement cost so I could factor that into what I would offer on the car. The lady that answered the phone said unless I purchased the car and brought it in and paid $100 for them to look at the car and provide a full assessment of the car they would not tell me how much they would charge for the bearing replacement. It may be a policy they have to not give out information over the phone but to me, my perception is that they were more interested in getting $100 rather than just being a decent person and a decent business and providing little customer service and earning a new customer. I may or may not buy the car, but I certainly know where I am not taking it to get the work done if I do. I just wanted to pass along how I was treated. You can make your own assessment of how you would rate the customer service here. Good luck!
