What do you think when you hear "lawyers"? Yeah me too- greedy, overpaid crooks who get paid ridiculous amounts of money to put in minimal effort for an outcome they cannot even guarantee. Well, I can't say that my general opinion of all lawyers has changed because of my one amazingly positive experience with Steven Krieger, but I will say that I've never been so surprised and happy to be wrong. I had gotten a property manager to manage my condo, which had an existing tenant who had always struggled to pay on time but faithfully paid every month for a year and a half. Within less than 4 months, the terrible property manager had brought the situation to this: possible eviction, a court date, and two months of unpaid rent while the tenant was still living in my condo. I was overseas, had never had an issue like this before, and didn't know what to do. This is exceptionally difficult for someone like me, who trusts rarely and doesn't like being unsure or out of control. The court date was set and looming,and i didn't want the manager representing me in court (he had already proven unreliable for everything), but i didn't have any personal recommendations for good lawyers, so I had to do the dreaded cold-calling of people in a profession i don't trust to help me. I HATE DOING THIS. I'm a research freak and very detail-oriented so this process takes FOREVER. Steven Krieger Law has nothing but 5 star ratings, but how am i to know it's not just a bunch of his friends or people he paid off. His website motto says: practical solutions, honest advice, for everyone. OK that's what all lawyers want you to believe. So I still called him assuming the worst. But in this case, i am happy to report i was wrong and he made me believe his motto and stellar ratings over the course of several emails and phone calls that he didn't even charge me for (most lawyers seem to believe that 10 minutes of their time should cost $50 before i even know who i'm talking to. I'd rather give $50 bucks to 6 random people in an hour and do more good for the world). Lucky for me, Steven was one of the first lawyers i called...and became both the last one i called for this situation and the first one i will call again if i need a lawyer in any of the following fields: Consumer Protection Law, Family Law, H-1B Visas, Landlord & Tenant, Online Defamation & Fraud, Small Business, and Zoning matters. Actually i'd probably just call him first for any lawyer-necessary matters just to get an honest opinion. P.S. he never pressured me, and actually ended up recommending that i privately work my issue out with the tenant, effectively talking himself out of a job. P.P.S. I do not know Steven personally, i have not been paid off or gotten any discounts, and i have nothing personally to gain form writing this review. I had a unique case that was not a slam dunk substantively speaking. I am extremely principled and refused to settle. I chose professional representation due to the complexity of this case. I expect a law firm to provide an accurate description of what is the most likely scenario. Steven's description of how things would likely turn out was accurate to the letter.. Now to speak about Katarina. I was floored. I felt like this was a case of a landlord strong arming a tenant and I refused to back down on principle. I have never seen anything as thoroughly prepared and well delivered in my professional career as the argument that Katarina delivered today. I truly think the plaintiff (large well known law firm) was overly confident and under prepared and Katarina showed up in a big way. I don't see any logical way this case could have been ruled other than how Katarina presented it. Katarina, I would describe you as an extremely buttoned up professional before the case. I definitely wouldn't have described you as a fighter. I was wrong and it may be the best asset you have as others would probably underestimate you as I did in this aspect of your personality. You brought fire to the courtroom today. Thank you for the intensity, the professionalism, composure, and tenacity. I wouldn't wan't to take a case against you for any reason if I was opposing council. Steven, in the words of Casey Affleck in Good Will Hunting, "Katarina is wicked smaht". I was using one of the cookie-cutter divorce firms and aside from sucking me dry, they were completely inept. Since both my soon to be ex-spouse and my name were on the lease of a rental property, my previous divorce attorney had advised me to continue to pay my landlord for TWO MORE MONTHS while soon to be ex-spouse stayed there. His answer was to continue to pay my landlord and their firm, of course, until she "decided" to move. I was desperate for help and losing money by the day. Aside from giving me the simple advice of NOT PAYING MY EX-WIFE'S RENT, saving me thousands of dollars, he reviewed my Pendente Lite Order and discovered that my attorney had made a huge error. Then he instructed me on how I should get my current lawyer to fix the mistakes at no charge. While my old attorney accomplished nothing in three months and charged me thousands of dollars, Steven solved my ex-wife squatter problem and saved me thousands of dollars in less than 60 minutes. My husband and I recently had a situation with our landlord that needed immediate advising. We weren't sure what we needed or even where to begin. Like most of us these days, I simply googled a little and quickly came across Stevens firm. I was hesitant to just choose anyone and began reading the reviews. I cannot stress enough that every single positive word you read about this attorney is accurate, honest and true. My initial call to the office began with a pleasant kind voice answering almost immediately. His assistant immediately took the time to discuss my concerns and questions in detail without ever feeling rushed. I Would NOT Recommend Steven Krieger for any Landlord Tenant Challenges I am updating this review after Mr. Krieger contacted me regarding my original review and informed me that I could face financial penalties if I did not amend it. To avoid further conflict, I have removed specific details, as I do not have the time or desire to engage further in this matter, though I stand behind my original review. That said, I strongly do not recommend this lawyer for any landlord-tenant matters. My experience was frustrating and disappointing, and I believe he prioritizes protecting his reputation over providing quality legal services. Consumers have the right to share honest feedback about their experiences, as protected under the Consumer Review Fairness Act (CRFA), which prohibits businesses from using contracts to suppress or penalize negative but truthful reviews. In addition, the D.C. Consumer Protection Procedures Act (D.C. Code § 28-3901 et seq.) also provides protections against deceptive trade practices, including attempts to restrict consumers' ability to share their opinions in reviews. If you are considering working with him, I highly recommend doing thorough research, reading all reviews carefully, and seeking other opinions before making a decision. Based on my experience, I have concerns that similar tactics may have been used to suppress other less-than-positive reviews. read more

I had an outstanding positive experience with SK Law. I had to deal with getting out of a long-term lease due to a terribly deceptive landlord who did not comply with the terms. I contacted numerous NoVa firms I found on Yelp; most don't even want to bother with landlord-tenant issues. Steven Krieger's firm responded immediately and, unlike most others, did not attempt to charge me just to hear about the situation. His legal assistant, Jenny, was extremely understanding and patient and forwarded my case information to Mr. Krieger--who emailed me at 9 pm just to be sure he met his commitment to get back to me within a day. I was impressed. My remedy actually turned out to be fairly simple; he gave me some procedural advice that enabled me to exit my lease without too much hassle. Mr. Krieger was very generous with his time on the phone and actually declined my offers to compensate him for it. I never would have known about how to properly enforce my rights without him. Before this process, I read a couple of unflattering reviews here but they absolutely did not align with my experience. I would hire this guy for anything in his practice areas, in a heartbeat. He is a confident, gentlemanly, calm and collected, professional. Say he is a five-star counsel. Beware: Do Not Trust This Attorney! This so-called legal professional is an absolute nightmare. If I could give negative stars, I would. He never picks up the phone, always demanding payment upfront without providing any substantial legal assistance. Despite never doing any actual work, he continuously billed me for minimal efforts. It's no surprise, considering he dodges calls and questions my understanding of the legal process. After extracting a hefty fee from me, he had the audacity to mock my financial situation, claiming I'm in dire straits. How do people in financial distress pay you, you might ask? Well, according to his twisted logic, it's all about taking your money and providing nothing in return. To add insult to injury, just a day before a critical legal proceeding (and after he was already paid), this unscrupulous attorney withdrew from my case. What a weasel! No wonder people call him "Sly Legal Shark." Save yourself the trouble and never, under any circumstances, hire this attorney. Asiya is one of the most condescending people I have ever encountered. I am not sure why she thinks she can speak with people the way she does. I don't know where she comes from, but she is the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered. I called into the offices asking to speak with someone regarding a legal issue recently and a lady had me on hold then I suppose she transferred me to her by accident. A lady answered the phone and I started to explain my issue, and she told me that she can't help me. I asked then why was I sent to her in the phone. We rent our condo unit and hired Steven to help us deal with a problematic tenant. It was our first time dealing with tenant issues, and our first time feeling like we needed to hire a lawyer. I consulted Mr. Krieger's office regarding an extremely difficult out of state custody matter. Mr. Krieger was prompt to return my call and explained my options in great detail. I knew immediately after this consultation he was the right attorney to handle my case. My ex wife has moved out of state and has failed to let me see my son in over two years despite my numerous plea's. I am now proceeding as we agreed on a course of action that will at the very least gain access to my son. Every child needs both parents in his life and until retaining Mr. Krieger, I felt hopeless.
