They never answer the phone, never return calls, and it's literally impossible to get through to anyone. They constantly overcharge, send bills for things that were never even done, and lie about what insurance will cover just to squeeze more money out of you. It's a complete scam. Everyone in my family is leaving Konikoff. I am genuinely concerned for any patient that goes here because of how dishonest and careless they are. I wouldn't recommend Konikoff to my worst enemy.

Our most recent visits, mine was okay, but they told my 16-year-old son that his teeth are going to fall out if he doesn't start brushing better. I totally get it, but I have never in my life, even as a child, had a dentist tell me my teeth are going to fall out. He was really upset about that and how the visit went overall for him. My 19-year-old son just had his appointment and told me they told him the same thing along with some other negative things, and he was also very upset and scared to death. After sharing my experiences with him about the negativity and constant lecturing, he said he also overheard conversations of patients next to him in which they were being told this is wrong, that is wrong, go see this specialist, etc. I completely understand that we need to know if there are issues with our teeth, but again, in all the dentists I've been to throughout my whole life, I have never, ever experienced such negativity and lecturing as I have with Konikoff over the past four or five years we've been with them. I have to trust my gut instinct in thinking something just isn't right here. We will be canceling our future appointments and seeking care elsewhere. And, no, I don't want to contact the office directly because I've decided our relationship with Konikoff has come to an end.

So when I go in two weeks ago for a crown, I was told incorrectly over the phone what I was to expect for the appt., being told one day for the procedure, and then in person that it would be a two visit process. The doctor, I assume, never introduced herself, asked me and hour later after I was in the room waiting, "are you ready to get this party started?" She then explains I'm going to get a "tree stump," IOWs, a post, I know this from a previous tooth. Tells me I'm going to have a plastic cap for 3 weeks while the crown is being made, and it will be mailed to me, not the office, for the second visit. Red flags galore, over an hour late in seeing I. The room, unprofessional interaction, godawful office space, didn't look remotely current with the equip. Staff coming in and out rummaging for supplies as I waited. No apology for being late. Officer manager quotes me 4 weeks until the second visit, contradicting whomever spoke to me prior. Spider sense, gut feeling, fight or flight, I said no thanks, and left. I went to a different dentist that is out of network and it was well worth the money. Don't skimp just because the dentist is covered by your insurance. Go with who's great, not sure hat obviously felt like to was going to be a horrible experience.

This raised serious concerns for me about the integrity and honesty of this practice. It feels like they were trying to push unnecessary procedures, which is completely unacceptable, especially when it comes to children's health. I am very familiar with text/ email reminders, or confirmations of medical appointments, but I have never experienced a policy like this one that literally cancels your appointment two days before. What if people are working or traveling and don't get the message until after 3pm? Also, maybe this was in the fine print, but I was never informed of such a ridiculous policy. I also don't appreciate the limited hours of operation. Maybe it works for a stay at home house wife, but for anyone running a business, or working long hours it's just not convenient, or practical. Another issue is that they require you to pay up front for services, and then you have to wait for your insurance to reimburse you. Another inconvenience. Finally, they have made a lot of investments in new technologies, such as the sonic cleaner and they require/ prefer for you to use the uncomfortable devices, even when you request hand scaling. At my last cleaning I asked the hygienist if she could just do hand scaling because the sonic device is uncomfortable and causes more TMJ pain. Her response was, "why don't we compromise and do half and half." It made me feel pressured to concede, and likely she is being pressured/ encouraged to use this device on patients. I'm sure Coastal Cosmetic Dentistry has plenty of business, and lots of 5 star reviews, but it's hard to imagine that I'm the only patient that's been put out by the items mentioned above. You might want to at least give your patients a heads up that you require a response two days before your scheduled appointment to keep the appointment.

My next two appts (every 6months) were cancelled the day of because there was no dentist to perform the cleaning. So I havent had a cleaning in over a year. I go to the dentist every 6 months for cleanings and my 1st appointment with them, they advised that every one of my teeth had cavities/decay. It would be over $2k to clean. I took my business elsewhere. Come to find out, my teeth are still in perfect condition. Do NOT here. Clearly they have no idea what they are doing and I believe the good reviews they are recieving are from the employees. BEWARE
