Visited Steven Toyota today and had a great experience with their service department. I travel for work and get my car serviced pretty frequently since I put a lot of miles on it. The oil change was significantly less expensive than what I typically pay in Northern Virginia, and it even included a tire rotation. I arrived at 8:30 and was completely finished by 9:30. This review is strictly concerning the lack of "customer service" and attention to detail. I purchased my vehicle April 28 and was told the dealership would send the titlework to the DMV. Well, they waited three weeks to submit the paperwork, and request a copy of the insurance card. I immediately sent the card and told them I had less than a week on my temp tags. I was promised a new set of temp tags would be sent to me. Well, guess what, the tags were never sent. I contacted Jenny Kichinko and was told the tags had not been sent. She said a new set would be mailed that day and also promised a copy would be emailed to me. Well, once again, they failed to come through with the email. I could not drive my car for 4 days due to their procrastination, lack of attention to detail and outright disregard for keeping a "promise." I have NEVER had such poor service from any dealership. All I got was excuses. If they would have given me the paperwork, I could have walked into the DMV and had my tags that same day. They need a complete overhaul of their office staff. read more

Upon arrival for the appointment we were told it did not apply to the car for which we booked the service; that the offer was "tied to a VIN." A partial VIN is listed in the flyer fine print, but it is not identified as a VIN. They then offered a price of $90 plus labor for the same service. Talk about bad faith. The lack of accountability was the last straw for me. The mechanic made a mistake when giving me the original quote, forgetting to include another service they were providing, and instead of accepting his mistake and apologizing, he chose to lie and gaslight us. I understand businesses need to upsell, and I do my research and can comfortably say no, but lying to my face is morally reprehensible. If I cannot trust your mechanic's integrity and word, trusting their expertise is impossible. Find a local mechanic and avoid these chains that only care about the bottom line. read more

Very disappointed with my Service Today for only an oil change and Va State Inspection . It took over 1.5 hours to perform these two simple functions. My service advisor wasn't very helpful and took forever to print the invoice and return my keys. In the past , the Service Dept has been somewhat slow,but never this bad. I had the same service at other dealerships who completed these two tasks in 40 -50:minutes max. There wasn't much of an attempt by anyone in the Service Department to complete the requested service in a timely and efficient manner. read more

Long story short. My 2022 Kia Sorrento was put in the shop for a fatal transmission error. They could not duplicate the code so the car was sent home. This was the week I bought it. Then again two weeks ago the car throws fatal transmission error, and shuts down in the middle of the road. The car is towed in to have it looked at again and once again they cannot replicate the code. Period I suggested several avenues after some research as to what that problem could be based on other users experiences and requested that the circuit board be pulled to look for a crack. I was told when I went to pick the car up that the circuit board was pulled, and there was no crack after further questioning. It turns out the circuit board was never pulled. I did in fact, tell them that the dealership and service department were looking at legal action due to other factors involved. And then receive an email that stated I was accused of physically threatening employees and they would no longer service my car. When calling and speaking with the service manager, apparently the service personnel had each other's back and stated that I did threaten a certain lady. The same lady that lied to me about pulling the circuit board so I explained the issue on the car and was told that this service lady stated I refused to pay for them to pull the circuit board. This is not true. I was never given that option. I was simply told since it was not covered under warranty to pull the circuit board. They were not going to do it. So now I've been banned from the service department. They will no longer look at the car and I still have a broken car. The service personnel they lie and they keep each other's back. Please do yourself a favor. Find somewhere else to look at your cars if you want a thorough inspection done. read more

Drove an hour and a half to get a car, planning to pay the listed price online even though it was a bit of a mark up. I got there and, presumably because they thought I was desperate since I'd come from out of town, tried to charge me a $3500 "market adjustment" on top of another $800 for an anti theft plan that apparently they require new vehicles to be sold with (these plans are generally optional and around $300 elsewhere). The kicker? The salesperson lied and told me most dealerships have a market adjustment of $5000 right before I walked out on them. I just went to the Richmond dealer and paid MSRP. In sum, Steven Toyota tried to swindle me and wasted my Friday evening and a lot of gas. Go to any other Toyota dealer in VA. Steven Toyota doesn't care about their customers and will try to squeeze as much out of you as possible, even if they have to use dishonest means. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I took my Kia to get serviced because my drivers side door would not unlock using my fob but strangely, all the others doors would. After spending nearly 4 hours waiting, the service rep returns to tell me that my actuator was "bad" and that it will need to be replaced. When I questioned what "bad" meant, the rep told me that "sometimes parts just fall apart the older your car gets", which made me suspicious considering that my car isn't terribly old and doesn't have a lot of miles on it. Simply wanting the issue to be fixed, I went ahead and let them order the part. The part and the labor for just looking at it was a few hundred dollars. I brought my car back once the part came in so they could replace it about a week or two later. Waiting yet another nearly 4 hours, the same rep from the first visit comes back to tell me that they replaced the actuator and it didn't fix the issue, and stated that they may need to look into whether or not it's "a deeper electrical issue" even though they told me that my electrical system looked great on my first visit. They still made me pay full price for servicing despite the fix that they swore by being the issue not fixing any of it. I ended up wasting several hours of time in my very busy schedule and several hundred dollars for the return of blatant dishonesty and disservice. I decided to take my car to a trusted car repair shop out of town that I have taken my vehicle to for years and is well known for their honest and reliable service. I asked them if they could find out what the issue was with my lock system. They told me that my body control module needed to be reprogrammed, which can only be done by the dealership. Because of my limited time I had available out of town, I was forced to take my car back to this dealership. This time, I told them exactly what the issue was. I needed my body control module to be reprogrammed, specifically surrounding the lock system. After roughly an hour, the same service rep from the first two visits comes back and tells me that "we cannot reprogram your body control module but it looks like your software is up to date so we're not sure why we're unable to". I persisted in asking what they mean by "cannot" and asked why they can't. All the service rep could tell me was that the tech didn't really go into it further than that they just simply were unable to, but opened a tech line case to get some better advice. They suggested I bring my car back so they can keep it for several days, possibly replace my entire body control module (which does not need replacing), possibly tear apart my dash to look under there for the issue, etc. The ONLY good part about this visit was that they did not charge me which I appreciated considering that no service was actually done. Needless to say I will not be returning to this dealership. They lied to me multiple times and weren't even able to tell me the reasoning behind all of their suggestions for the things that I needed "fixed" or "replaced". I am willing to drive several extra miles to another dealership if it means that I don't spend another cent or second here. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!! read more

My family was driving from Charlotte to Upstate NY for our mothers funeral when our vehicle broke down. We called, " Steven Toyota," and first spoke to, " Allison." They sent a shuttle out to pick us up - shuttle drivers name - " Calvin." He drive us back to Steven Toyota. Calvin was awesome !! AAA towed our vehicle back to dealer. We arrived and met Allison in person - she was awesome also, she took care of the truck - We then met Micheal whom we rented a Minivan from - he was awesome ! I requested to speak to the manager Matt - I expressed to him the excellent service we received from our pick up to the rental car. I admit it, I hate buying cars. However, the buying process (salesman, finance guy, pickup process) was great. Then it fell apart. My 2019 certified vehicle had some major problems that became apparent shortly after I picked it up. Now, four weeks and three visits later I still do not have a resolution. Seems once they had my money t that had little interest in helping me out. Service manager was rude and unhelpful, sales manager did not respond to my communication, and salesman (nice guy) basically told me he couldn't help. Brought my car in for a free service which is offered because it's a lease on a 2022 Kia. Was told that one of the wiper blades was torn and would not pass inspection. When I asked to see the torn blade I was shown a blade that has a slight 1/2" tear on one end. They are trying to sell me a $25 set of blades and charge me a labor rate to install because they are inspecting for free. I told them to slap a REJECTION sticker on the car and I will buy and replace the blade myself and have it reinspected. I negotiated a used car purchase with the Sales Manager Logan Bricker, from out of state (NJ a 5 hour drive). I was approved for financing, negotiated a sale price and called the insurance company for coverage. I was told the vehicle would be held on Saturday, if I confirmed I was coming down when they reached out Friday evening. I confirmed, and we left at 7 am. Three hours into our ride I received a call confirming we were on our way. About 20 minutes after that, I receive a call telling me the vehicle was sold. We had arranged an overnight stay, cat sitters and spent time, gas and tolls. Not only did they lie regarding the vehicle hold, but Logan misrepresented himself as the finance manager. As a "Sales Manager" his actions were reprehensible. I am in dispute with Toyota, who has referred me to their Customer Service person at Steven Toyota. His name is Matt Sodikoff, who clearly sided with the dealership...admitted that Logan was wrong, and would not even reimburse me for my expenses. They extended a 250 credit towards the purchase of another vehicle. You couldn't pay me to step foot in this dealership! Buyer beware!!! I recently bought a used Corolla and while the purchasing processes went smoothly, I can't say the same for the financing department. The financing person I was assigned to seemed to have little interest in helping me find a better interest rate than the one offered through the Toyota Financing and was at times outright patronizing. Even so, I completed the purchase and am happy with the car and generally happy with the dealership experience. My car alarm has been acting up and the only thing that keeps it from going off at night sometimes is leaving the car unlocked and the key fob in the ignition - obviously not ideal. They did the diagnostic for the whole car and found some other things that needed to be worked on, and then mentioned at the end of the video that they didn't really know why the alarm was going off, but it didn't seem like it was very concerning for them. I paid $92 for them to tell me the same thing that my neighbors and Google had already told me. While on vacation at Massanutten resort I Brought my car in on a Monday, the problem was diagnosed and they said the steering column had to be replaced and parts were ordered that day. I was told I would get a progress phone call on Tuesday that didn't happen so I called on Wednesday and was told my Kia warranty didn't cover the labor and my extended warranty company had to inspect the car before they would approve it and I would get a call on Thursday, that didn't happen. Now it's Friday and no one has any idea what's going on and they haven't started on the repairs I've called twice with promises of return calls that haven't come. Not only am I extremely disappointed at the complete lack of Communication I'm very nervous about driving the car back across the country with a dangerous steering issue. It's noon on Friday and still no call. I called again at 1:30 and was told the inspector was there and they would call me with his determination. At 2:30 I tried calling again and they would not answer my phone calls. So at 4 o'clock I went down to the dealership. I was told they're still waiting on confirmation from the warranty company so after five days they haven't done a thing. And I'm driving back to New Orleans with a defective steering column. Worst dealership in Harrisonburg, VA. They are overpriced, and shady. I went there to buy a 2017 Ford Fusion SE that appeared to be in pristine condition from the photos. When I went and seen it in person, it was filthy dirty, and I could not even test drive it because the wheel was messed up and bent in. There were rips in the mesh in the back door, rips in the leather seats up front, and the paint on the trunk exterior was scratched with a huge chunk of paint chipped off. They would not budge down from the price, & told me that it was already discounted $2,000 off from market price. I then asked if I paid the $18,500 they were asking, would they fix all the leather and paint chips and the wheel before I took it home, & was told they can fix those things but it would be added back on to the total cost of the vehicle, making it even MORE overpriced. Strike number two was when I worked there and they let me go. I asked what the reason was, and if it was something I did wrong. Instead of giving me an answer, the boss bullshitted around the topic and kept avoiding the question. My guess is I was let go because I missed time due to being sick and having to be tested for COVID, even though I called and THEY told me not to come in. Then they'll switch the representative that speaks to you reset the negotiation. And they will find an excuse to make a bid that's similar to every other dealer. Tires, body faults, something like that. If you face them with this bait&switch, their big brain managers will tell you they are the buyer and they just don't want to buy your car. We bought a 2009 Camry Hybrid from them and used them for all service while the car was under warranty, and were quite satisfied (well, except for the constant pressure to add something to the service.) The service advisor suggested we consider synthetic oil which was more expensive, but lasted up to 10,000 miles and as good for the engine, so we did that for several years. However, at 105,000 miles, we noticed the invoice was for synthetic oil, but the charge was for conventional oil. THe cashier said it was a billing error and, since it was their error, no extra charge. Then at 115,000 miles, the same thing happened! This time, the cashier said she didn't know why the invoice said that, but if it said synthetic, then it was. I became suspicious. When I got the online evaluation form, I indicated dissatisfaction and wrote in some detail the problem - in short, that I was concerned that I was getting conventional oil and driving it twice the recommended distance between changes. The next day, "customer service" at Steven Toyota called, and asked if I could explain why I was dissatisfied. She admitted had not even read the explanation that I'd given, so I asked her to, do the research to answer my question, and call me back. The next day she DID call me back, said the service advisor had old the tech that "synthetic oil was not recommended for the 2009 hybrid and to put in regular oil", and that if I came in, they would put in synthetic oil free. I THEN asked her why the service advisor had recommended it in fhe first place, years ago, and could she tell me how long I'd been driving my car more than double the interval between changes. She could not. TOTAL FRAUD/INCOMPETENCE! I now have no idea how long I have been putting my engine at risk because of their service! AVOID THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT IF YOU VALUE YOUR TOYOTA! read more

Do not go here! I have a Lexus and had recently moved to Harrisonburg. Thousands of dollars of work completed on my car here...much of the work that had to be repeated involving my brakes. Their mechanic rode in the car with me as the breaks continued to make a noise and said he just couldn't figure it out. I was told they fired the mechanic. I purchased 4 new tires here a year ago and was bringing my car in for oil changes and tire rotation and alignment. The two front tires are destroyed and they will not even call us back, when clearly they were not aligned properly. This goes on and on. After my service person was changed to one that was incredibly rude, I decided enough was enough and have since found a very good smaller shop. I visited a few times for annual maintenance and the service was average, nobody ever went out of their way to provide great service but it wasn't bad enough to make me stop going. When I needed work above an oil change done is when the service went from average to inexcusable. i wasn't given the parts I asked for, instead received a less expensive version (but still charged for my requested parts). I was blatantly lied to by a service rep about additional services and when I confronted Steven Toyota about it I was met with resistance and the most condescending response imaginable. I provided the name of my advisor and exactly what i was told and the response i got was "Are you sure you're not just confused?" "He's worked here a very long time and is very knowledgeable, he wouldn't say that". They completely disregarded my complaints as unimportant and basically insinuated that I was either confused or lying, no apology. I then referenced the detailed notes I had from that service appointment from my rep and only then did they back down and try to appease the situation, but still never placed any responsibility on the employee at fault or issued an apology. I appreciate a company that values and defends employees, unfortunately as a previous reviewer mentioned, Steven Toyota is doing this to the extent that they are providing dishonest service and driving away customers. Everyone's experience with a car dealer is unique in some ways. I personally have bought 5 cars from Steven Toyota and have always been treated well. I always shop around 3 other Toyota dealership in a 60 mile radius but always find the best overall deal here. Several years back they went out of their way to located and buy a Tundra in TX based on the description of what I wanted and was not available in this region without any deposit or stipulations. When it arrived two weeks later I went and checked it out and purchased it. Always get a fair deal and above average trade-in as well. My latest purchase of a 2020 Corolla Hybrid, after the negotiations were completed, was the fastest closing ever!! I was in and out of the financial office in less than 10 minutes. I know the deal finished at closing time but the sales staff made sure I knew how to operate the features of the car before they went home. Good job guys! Lack of Integrity If you would like to hear the recording of the phone call with them, I have it, should be eye opening. Bought a 2008 4runner from them, did it online, my 2nd buying online and had a great experience the first time, but this time... Nice and responsive - that's the only thing I can say. Asked if there were any issues with the vehicle and they quickly informed me that they do a 120 point inspection and they wouldn't have it on the lot to sell if there were any issues. Turns out there is rust on the front edge of the sun roof and it is leaking. Now I don't know what would qualify as an "issue" with these people, but a leaking sunroof that cost 4 to 500 for the part plus labor sounds like an issue to me. 6 to $700 fix.... the only thing I got from them was a - just go replace it. really?? They were jonny on the spot with getting my deal done, guess now I see why. I was the sucker from out of state. This place is just another glorified slick hair sales place like that corner lot you avoid... sorry to admit I got scammed by them, but maybe you won't since I shared. I don't expect a 10 year old vehicle to be perfect or without little things here and there, it would just be nice to see a dealer treat people with honesty and respect. would this issue caused me to think twice? of course, anyone would - wait - maybe that's a reason to just take care of an issue like this and be fair to your clients. I spent 3 hours running around town, looking for something to drive. I called Steven Toyota and found a vehicle to drive. The regular rental agent was out due to sickness however the General Manager Ryan Sodikoff himself met me, with a car full of gas and had me out the door in less than 10 minutes. If you do decide to punish yourself by shopping here ask for Kaleb he is great. However the management and customer service here is a joke and they should be embarrassed about how they do business. They will sell a car out from under you with no regard for your time if they can make a dollar more. Didn't even have the respect or courtesy to call us to tell us. We had to call to find out and then they decided to argue with me and blame us. So much for customer service and integrity. I recently purchased a new 2018 tacoma. By recently within the last 3 weeks.I purchased the very expensive bumper to bumper 100,000 mi 6 yr warranty. As I was washing the truck I noticed that there was some damage to the passengers tail light. It was difficult to see but it was there. I called the dealership as the truck had been garaged to this point and was told it would be taken care of and to bring it in. I brought it in as I was told and the advisor looked at it and said they would order it. The next day they called for me to bring it for the install. I brought it in, it was pulled into the bay, then I was told it would be a 300 dollar fix.2 something for the part and over 100 for the install that tool me literally 5 minutes. Scheduled an appointment on their website a few days in advance. Went in to get my oil changed and replace the right rear tire sensor as it went bad a month before. I knew it was the right rear tire as I was still able to read the PSI for the LF, RF, and RL tire on my dashboard. I arrived and they said they didn't have the part for the tire which was no big deal, I told them I would get to it another time. So we just went with an oil change. However, after getting my car back, I noticed that day that I could no longer read the PSI for any of my tires on my dashboard though I could earlier in the day (because I check it daily). Fairly annoyed I had to make an another appointment to get this issue resolved. I get there, wait an hour and finally get told that a sensor is bad on my tires. I already knew that and told them this already but they tell me it's the RF tire. I find that odd because I've been able to get accurate PSI readings from the RF tire all along, but not the RR tire. I immediately feel that this is a major discrepancy. I'm told that the reason they couldn't fix this issue a few days before when I had my first appointment is due to not having the proper technician there. Well obviously someone is lying to me as to why this wasn't done now and I feel that I'm being lied to about which tire has the issues. They tell me that when one sensor goes bad it impacts them all which I know to not be true as I've lived with a bad sensor for over a month and was able to continually get accurate readings from my other 3 tires until bringing it to them for an oil change. Regardless I'm quoted a price of $180 for the repair and I think I'm being jerked around so I call another dealership that I've dealt with before and they quote me $95 for the repair. I had heard from many people about this company taking advantage of people, especially college students but I always got reasonable service until now. This will be my last time visiting them. No customer wants to feel that they're being lied to or taken advantage of. read more

Do not buy a used car from this store. My daughter as well as friends who have bought used cars have been fleeced. For example, a friend who works at JMU bought a used car in April 2018, it broke down on the drive home and needed almost 1000$ in repairs- they were SOL for you! My daughter bought a used car in May 2018, and within one day of owning it, she found it it had faulty ball bearings. Our local mechanic quoted her 300 to fix it- Steven's Toyota quoted her 915!! They also did not put any gas in her gas tank on the original purchase. Again SOL for you! I have also heard additional anecdotal stories from friends and neighbors about this store. I will be using examples from Steven's Toyota when I teach ethics in business. Spread the word- they are an unethical business and do not honor or respect their customers and that is reflective in their policies and pricing. read more
