I had the best experience with Steve's Appliance repair! My 33 year old Kitchenaid mixer started sounding rough when making pasta and I knew she was due for a tune up. This is a heavy machine that is rock solid and has been heavily used for decades. I did my research and the manufacturer recommends a mail in diagnostic. Essentially they send you a box, ship it to Ohio where the work is done and send it back. Shipping a heavy machine across the country twice was not appealing to me and I found Steve's Appliance repair. I delivered my mixer and he was so knowledgeable and kind to me. Within a few hours I received photos of the interior with the grease and gears. I needed new grease, a gasket and a gear. The price was reasonable and I picked it back up the very next day. When I arrived, he had me wait while he assessed the stand mixer. Turns out that a connector had come loose. He was able to connect it again and get me out his door less than 20 minutes later. He replied almost immediately and was very easy to schedule with. While he provided a cost range in advance, he informed me that he would only be able to give me an accurate price estimate upon taking apart the machine and identifying the problem. He also said that if I decided not to have it fixed (as I wanted to weigh this against the cost of a new machine) that he would reassemble it and there would be no charge. His pricing was extremely fair, he replaced a broken part, and he included a tune-up (alignment, replacing the grease, cleaning the machine) - all of which needed to be serviced as well. I have a vintage Kitchen Aide mixer that had never been serviced. Just before Christmas, my mixer motor started making a strange sound. I use my mixer quite a lot and knew something was off. I called Steve and expected him to say he could get to it after the first of the year. Surprisingly, he said to bring it in and he would see what needed to be done. He took the mixer apart and discovered that 3 gears were broken and it desperately needed cleaning and greasing. He told me the price and I was thrilled he could salvage my machine for 1/3 the cost of the new ones that are not made as well as the old vintage ones. I normally don't leave reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel obligated to warn others!!!! I paid $900 Parts + $700 Labor for refrigerator parts that I later found out could be purchased directly from the manufacturer for around $200. They also replaced parts that didn't appear necessary and took my original parts without showing me any proof that they were damaged or burned out. After the repair, the same issue came back almost immediately, and when I tried to contact them for follow-up service, they came over and asked to replace more parts when I refused, they blocked my calls completely. That's not how an honest company should operate. It took me months to gather evidence of their overcharging and false claims and eventually recover my money through my insurance coverage. As a result of my complaint and supporting proof, they were removed from the platform where they had been advertising their services. I learned the hard way -- please don't fall into the same trap. read more
