I'm a native NYCer, so I don't like these gigantic airy bagels that are all over Long Island. I'm used to Ess-A-Bagel, Zaro's at Grand Central Terminal, Bagel Nosh, Russ & Daughters, and many others. I went to Steve's bc I was dropping off a package at the store next door. Someone once told me the term "hot bagels" on a store meant they were "authentic" bagels. So when I saw Steve's, I was intrigued. I got six excellent bagels: two onion, two garlic, two egg-everything. They were not huge. They were normal size, perfectly baked and had plenty of seasoning on both sides but not too much. They were delicious. We liked them so much I sent my husband there on a Thursday a few weeks later and he came home with the same types of bagels. They were undercooked. They were overly large and they did not have much seasoning on them. Most of them had nothing on the bottom and a few barely had any seasoning on top. I understand that they use different bakers on different days, so whoever baked the bagels for Wednesday, April 8, 2026? He or she should get a raise and teach the others how to make bagels. This place is really good. I ordered a sausage egg and cheese on an egg bagel. It was delicious and super cheesy and gooey. Bagel was fluffy and crunchy! I also got an apple turnover. Very tasty! The ambience is very homey and personal! Highly recommend it. read more

These aren't the best bagels you'll ever eat, but they sure do hit the spot when you're craving a bagel. The bagels are fresh and they have a wide variety. They also make a pretty decent breakfast sandwich. While it can be crowded at times, I have never had an issue with the staff who have always been friendly and are helpful. They also have cookies, cakes, and pastries but I have not tried them yet. read more

Best bagels in deer park. Since I moved to deer park, I've tried numerous places but Steve's has the best bagels. Dee park bagels has decent bagels as well in the shop right parking lot, I just hate they don't take orders over the phone. The staff at Steve's is always very welcoming and it's like a family there. Everyone is sweet and on top of there game for this busy establishment. Bagels are made fresh daily and always taste amazing. Good amount of cream cheese spreads and great selection of bagels and flagels. They also sell pastry and cakes here. Overall, best bagels shop in deer park that I encountered so far. I just went in to this bagel place and i would never go back. I was just charged 18 dollars for two bacon egg and cheeses. When the women told me how much it was i thought she made a mistake. They dont even charge you that in the city. Don't make the mistake of coming here. The food is just ok and would rather drive down the street to first class bagel. This is my go to bagel place for two reasons 5 mins from my house and the bagels are delicious! It can get pretty crowded in here but they move things along quickly. The bagels are great, bacon egg and cheese toasted roll fantastic and baked cinnamon rolls also delicious. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the cost of cream cheese on the side. It's about 5 dollars which is not worth it! Unfortunately I like to add my own cream cheese so I always buy it. I may have to stock up on Philadelphia Veggie cream cheese as it's cheaper and tastes just the same as Steve's veggie cream cheese. read more

Just ordered from Steve's Bagels this morning and I couldn't wait to come onto Yelp to leave a review. I HIGHLY suggest you take your business elsewhere. Here is what I experienced this morning: I walked in around 11am and it was very crowded (roughly 15 people) with people waiting for their orders. I was able to place my simple order which consisted of a Egg sandwich and a BLT on a roll. When asked for a name for the order I said "Paul"..."Paul?" "Yes" -- she then writes "Pool" on my order ticket. Okay, sign #1. After 10 minutes my order was ready and I couldn't wait for the person to say my name incorrectly as "Pool". Once I got home, I opened my BLT and noticed that a piece of bacon was very fatty and under cooked. I then started to pull the fatty piece out from the sandwich when I noticed that nearly ALL the bacon was fatty and uncooked. This was possibly the worst excuse for bacon I have ever seen. I nearly pulled off all the bacon off my sandwich, which is the most expensive part. All I can say is the best part of Steve's is the girl that has been there for so long is very helpful, moved the crowd and was the only one interactive talking to customers. She ran shit! Great little bagel spot on Deep Park Ave. they also have cakes, coffee, sodas, cookies and they make fresh breakfast sandwiches. I usually only come here for bagels, but Cary R loves the bacon, egg and cheese on a roll. The bagels are excellent quality and is truly a NY bagel. Staff is friendly and they have ample staff to get you in and out quickly. It gets quite busy in the mornings. This place used to have the best chocolate chip cookies on the planet but they changed how they cook them. Theybused to be soft and the size of my kids face. Now they are hard as a rock and small. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!!! I'd classify Steve's food to be decent at best. That's not why I'm here though. My order is incorrect 9/10 times I go there. Today I didn't feel like going back AGAIN so I called for a refund on the incorrect items. To which I was very rudely informed that if I "wanted my money back to come into the store and bring back all my food". I regret making the decision to come here. I normally go to Wally's down the road but I figured for a simple bagel and cream cheese, how hard could it be to mess it up. So I figured I would come here. The young woman behind the counter had a really bad attitude and was just not friendly at all. Now for the food, the bagels were very stale and gummy. The cream cheese was okay but immediately after i ate the bagel I felt sick. The coffee was also pretty gross too. This was the second time I came here within the past 4 years. I used to work here a few years ago. It was my first ever job and I worked for the majority of the summer, till school came back around. It's a hard ass job, especially when it is your first one. The line was out the door and you usually have two other people in the front, and one person in the back. It often felt overwhelming, but you got through it. There were definitely some health code violations in the back and the owner wasn't the best. I think with a better owner, the business could get better overall. However, let's be real guys, Steve's bagels isn't the best bagel on Long Island. I read a comment that stated such a thing and I was appalled. First Class Bagels on deer park ave is where it is at, no question about it. Plus, you will get better service, since Marissa (the mean looking one) doesn't work there lol. There are some comments about Marissa and they are totally justified. She often had an attitude and whether it was about work or not, if you are in the service industry, you gotta learn to shut that off and give good customer service. I give this two stars because I'd still eat the bagels and they do have good pastry items. But yeah, Covid-19 has got me thinking back to when Covid wasn't a thing, and Steve's popped up in my head. Giving this business even one star is a stretch. Everything about our order was awful. The bagels were stale, the black and white cookies were thin, also stale and tasted awful, they gave me the fat free cream cheese instead of the regular and even the half gallon of milk was sour after only 3 days even though dated a week away. I have to start this review by saying these bagels are the best on the island. The bagels have such good flavor with the perfect amount of salt so that they're not flavorless cardboard frisbees. Their pastry and croissants are awesome too. With that being said, I'd recommend calling your order in ahead of time because they're usually busy and it can take some time to get your food. Only 1 star because if your looking for any type of spread on your bagel forget about it....cheap as cheap could be..I asked for an everything bagel with chocolate chip spread and there was almost nothing on the bagel. Not enough bad things to say about this place. I stopped here before work wanting to get a simple bagel with cheese and tomatoes. Apparently they only have like 3 types of cheese which is unheard of for a bagel store. Besides having to choose from a limited variety of cheddar mozzarella or Swiss it takes them 25 minutes to make the simple bland sandwich. We've lived in the area for 8 years, and we got breakfast sandwiches here once, they were excellent, but then we started cooking at home.
