They have the same excellent service, in fact, Steve's is slightly better since Maggie stopped working at her Blue Rose and started working with Steve full-time. If you're like me and don't like steak, fear not! Steve has you covered. I absolutely adore their homemade pasta of the day and they have excellent clam chowder and seafood (I know, that's rare for a steakhouse). So happy to find such a great restaurant with delicious Vegan options. We ordered an artichoke to start with. And for entrees ordered the impossible burger that comes with vegan mayo and it was done so well! For sides we had fries and asparagus. Both prepared perfectly. And the pricing was very reasonable! Next time we go might ask for a side of the vegan mayo to use and dip the artichoke into with some lemon and pepper. Besides the good it's a great atmosphere with a very kind and attentive staff. Birthday weekend in Catalina! Decides to have a nice steak dinner, and this place had good reviews on Yelp and on Find Me Gluten Free. We were seated right away, pretty interior, server came over quickly to take our drink orders. We weren't sure about food yet, so waiter said he'd be back. He came back in like 3 minutes, husband and I were still discussing food, so waiter left again. I could see him watching us, so we decided and closed out menus, he was immediately there. Told them about my gluten allergy, I ordered a filet and asparagus. Our daughter got steak as well. Food comes out and it's just meh. Filet had no seasoning, was over cooked. Our daughter said hers tasted burnt and also no seasoning. My asparagus was also bland. And our waiter disappeared. We planned to order dessert, but it took forever. Ordered crème brûlée. The sugar was so burnt on top it made the whole dessert bitter. Pretty sad for my birthday dinner. Don't think we would come back. We eat at lots of steakhouses, this was probably bottom of the list. 2 stars because everyone was polite. read more

Bryce, the waiter was horrible. He had no personality he was not on point and offered me the special or choices. if i new there was a tomahawk i would of prefers that. i feel that i came in basketball short and comfortable he was not going to give me his great service because I believe he felt I wasn't going to tip him good based on my skin color. that's how i felt as if i was treated different from the rest. if skin color going to be a problem for weight or Bryce, that should be looking for another job because I saw how he treated everybody else that was white and then the people of color he did not treat with respect he was just like whatever. It can't get any better than a steak dinner on the beach at sunset on Catalina Island. As the relaxing sounds of the ocean waves slaps against the sandy shore. I don't really know when the beach area transformed into an outdoor restaurant, but it did so quietly as if by magic. Being this time of year once the sun goes down the ocean breeze comes in. So bring a sweater or light jacket. The wait staff are all over the place here , like bumble bees! One minute they taking your order. The next, they taking other orders. Then one blink of an eye they back, with food and drinks! If you just wanted water they were handing out bottles of water. The adult beverages were good meaning you could taste the alcohol in them, lol. I had the ribeye steak medium rare, and my wife had the catch of the day which happened to be halibut. She liked it so much she ordered another halibut with veggies, of course I stepped in to help her finish it. Everything was fantastic. Last before I forget they are Covid compliant here. They check your temps before seating, then everyone is seated spaced apart from each other. Everyone one looked happy on the beach, not a frown to be found! Service was great. My wife and I came here for our 3 year anniversary. When we walked in we were greeted, and we let them know it was our anniversary. They made sure we had a window seat so we could enjoy the beautiful view of the ocean. I am a steak guy, and I had an 18 oz ribeye steak and I can say it was by far one of the best steaks I have had. My wife had the special which was a tortellini shrimp pasta and that was delicious as well. I have to mention our service was amazing as well. Jerthom was a great genuine server and really gave some nice recommendations. I am not sure if I spelled his name right so forgive me. Came here on a Thursday around 5:00, for an anniversary dinner, after a full day of exploring the island. I suppose we probably looked a bit disheveled, by the greeting we received by the hostess. We were a bit taken back by being asked if she "could help" us, and told that we couldn't sit by the window if we were ordering cocktails. Since we had come in with the intent of having dinner, we were given a lovely table by a window, with a fantastic view. Our server was attentive and helpful with suggestions. The reason for the three stars is because all of the food was cold. When you spend over $200 you just don't expect that. The meat was not tender, neither was the lobster, or shrimp. The lamb was good since they had to take it back to cook it more. The drinks were good and the service was okay. They have to set up all the tables and chairs on the sand. They need to think of someway to keep the food hot (during Covid times for only outdoor dining) as it is brought all the way from upstairs where the restaurant is located, to the beach. read more

Wow what a view.....Now that that has been said, I really enjoyed eating at Steve's Steakhouse. I was impressed how they were able to accommodate our party of 30 and still keep our glasses full. Water was served in a plastic bottle. I thought this was nice because I was able to take it with me when I was done with the meal. You can never have enough water on a hot day. The appetizers were awesome. We had calamari strips (not chewy or rubbery at all), coconut shrimp, and tempura zucchini (huge pieces that were so juicy). I had the Rib-eye steak and my friend had the lobster tail. No complaints at all. Just a note, the bathrooms are super small and with two stalls for women and one for men the line can get long. Came here for my elopement dinner with a group of fifteen. They do not take reservations but I emailed the owner to see if they could help us out. The owner got back to me so quickly and was able to help me out with reserving a time for our group. The service was so amazing and the server was so attentive to the entire group. You could tell he really wanted to make sure that our time there was special (I wish I remembered his name!). Food was amazing as always and came out pretty quickly as well. The wait time for our food was a bit lengthy, at about 20 minutes but well worth it. Excellent choices very well prepared. A great spot for special occasions when visiting Catalina. Catalina has very limited food options... Or good options and Steve's is probably one of the few good ones you'll find on the island. And I'm strictly talking about the island... If this were on the mainland, it's a different story. But we had a great experience despite all the other bad reviews. We made reservations and when you do they put you near the large open windows with a beautiful view of the harbor. You also get that nice breeze and you can people watch too. We came on a busy Saturday night and service started off slow but our waiter apologize (unexpected party of 7 came in). After that we had great service! Even the bust boys were on top of things. Wine: they have basic wines you can get anywhere. Pretty pricey, we got a bottle of Chianti for $37. Food: we started off with a bowl of clam chowder, and it was delicious! Biiig chunks of clams and my bf from Boston thought it was excellent. My bf got the filet and I got the ribeye. The filet mignon wasn't tender enough for the price... My ribeye tasted good though. Sat down at 7:40pm, by 8:15pm we ordered aquafina water ($5) since they only serve tap water, by 8:30pm someone pretending to be manager (did not give his name, but not Eric who is the manager but useless) said he will take the order because nobody else can, by 8:40pm just left without anyone coming by to take the order. This was not worth it at all. If you plan to dine late, dont. You will not be served after 7:30pm. Management is not customer focused nor are their servers. Great place to have dinner! They brought out the tables to the sand and it was a nice ambiance. The service was great. Everyone was hustling and seemed to work great together. We ordered the duck cigars as an appetizer. They were ok. I wasn't a fan of the sauce, but they did have a lot of meat which, is nice considering the price. We also ordered the prime rib (delicious!) and 1lb of crab legs (so yummy!). The quality of food was good, but a bit pricey. We usually order steaks and seafood when dining out, so I'm basing it off that. I guess that's just the case considering the current situation. Prices have gone up everywhere. The view is beautiful. Just as other posted. Service is excellent. Food is good b it over priced for good. My sea bass was over a little cooked but good flavor. Walking on Thanksgiving Day we gave this spot a shot with the family. We were greeted by a gentleman that was so kind and welcoming. Maybe the owner perhaps, he had blonde hair and a Hawaiian shirt. We sat at the bar, a tall skinny bartender checked our IDs and was polite. During this time I was playing a music video from my phone that I was showing my cousin. We went on to see this video for about 7 minutes just fine, when abruptly the other Bartender, Erik said "Turn it off!!! You need to turn it off now!" I was a bit shocked to see how rudely he had made this request. So I asked "I'm sorry? You want me to turn off my phone?" He said "Yes! TURN IT OFF! We have music playing" the tone and manner he made this request was so condescending. People that were right next to me heard him loud and clear. We all felt extremely uncomfortable and pretty much speechless. I had no issue turning off my phone, BUT how rude and condescending Erik was just out of line. Steve is the boss apparently. I put us down on the list at 7:12PM and watched Steve take MULTIPLE parties before us when they arrived after us. Multiple people we were sitting next to told us he does that all the time which was a little alarming at first. Got a table after complaining about multiple parties being seated before us @ 8:05. Now the waiting part we wouldn't have minded, it was being treated as if we weren't even there that irritated us. Ironically the guy who seated us & our waiter were incredible. I got the special of the night which was Shrimp Linguini (sub'd scallops for the shrimp) & it was honestly amazing. My BF got the 18oz steak which he said was pretty bland (i don't eat red meat so I gotta go off whatever he said) & the rice pilaf which was oddly spicy. We also got 2 Moscow mules which were also decent. They use real ginger which I really appreciated! I can't wait to come back during our next visit to Avalon. On the boat ride back the family we sat next to also ate here and it was their favorite family restaurant experience during their stay. We also ate dinner at the top rated restaurant and had the "forgotten diner" experience. You will not be forgotten at Steve's. The waiter on our evening apologized for their "off" service. My husband and I had no idea. That is how good the experience and food are at Steve's. We ate the spaghetti squash, butternut squash ravioli, filet mignon, and halibut special.
