We came here after we went rafting. It was long day for us and we had to get something to eat so we decided to stop here and it was by far the best decision we made! Went here for a quick breakfast while wife was at a dentist appointment. Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. The veggie omelette with cheese was great ($7.99 w/home fries and toast) Good potatoes from a grill and coffee above par. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Quick service even tho the place was mostly full. My only complaint was the temperature. It was warm when I went in but got cold while I was there. I initially order a plain iced tea but afterwards needed a coffee to take the chill out the air was set to cold). Could have been a 1 time thing but thought it worth mentioning. Wow, what a nice surprise. We walked into The Two River Grill next door and walked out because it looked stuffy and was really expansive. At 701 Penn Ave the food at Stewarts was AMAZING and the prices also. I had a lemon pepper chicken salad where the chicken was cooked to perfection and the salad was fresh and the house dressing was delish. Waitresses knew half the people names. My husband got a Reuben special and he said it was also amazing. It has been under new ownership for a year. If you're looking for an inexpensive, informal place to eat, I would come here. We are planning on coming back again soon to try the potato pancakes wth applesauce. The menu is FULL of good eats. read more

Classic family restaurant. I visited Port Jervis memorial day weekend 2014 and stopped here after crossing the bridge into Pennsylvania. Always wanted to try a Stewarts since there are none in NYC. Had the chili dog lunch special and their famous root beer. Delicious. Service was very friendly also. read more

If your looking for diner food Stewarts isn't the place. If your looking for home cooking, then come on in and enjoy! On occation you might wait a little bit longer then a fast food joint, but good food isn't fast. Great breakfasts! good burgers, and the dinner food is almost like home cooked at grandma's house. read more

Old fashioned American restaurant with old fashioned service - polite, kind, and just down-home American service that you can't get anywhere anymore. These girls are the reason people come back again and again. Before the name changed from Stewart's to Stewie's the menu was a lot better though. Their homemade Pierogies were replaced with the frozen kind. What a disappointment! They were hard and cut the roof of my mouth. My best friend got a reuben and fries and she said it was excellent and my niece got a Philly cheese-steak but said it lacked flavor so she put some Russian dressing on it to make it taste better. :-P We had the baby with us and just enjoyed being together as a family so I didn't complain about anything. Upon check out the gal asked me how everything was and I was honest "all okay but the pierogies used to be homemade by hand - the best. But now they are overcooked from frozen." She felt bad and gave us some homemade cookies as a parting gift which I gave to my niece. The food was really about 2 stars but the service is 4 so overall a three star experience. All came out to $35 with tax and we left a nice tip. I won't be in a hurry to come back here to eat unless the food is homemade like before. Nice little place to eat. Everything was good, including the pie, except the diet soda was off-tasting. I don't know if it was a carbonation problem or if it was Diet Rite and we weren't told, but the waitress quickly swapped it for unsweetened iced tea. Also, everything seemed a little pricey for what you are getting. The waitress was friendly, but not forthcoming with information. I was offered fries or chips with my sandwich, but was not warned that there is a $2.00 charge to get fries instead of chips. Had I known, I likely would have chosen chips as I didn't get a ton of fries. read more

My friend and I come here a lot since it's inexpensive and has a couple gluten free options (sadly my body hates me and I can't have sweet sweet gluten). Yea so I'm from New York and we decide to eat at this place called Stewie's....don't be fooled the pictures online look delicious however, this was so wack I wanted to go back into the kitchen and put a face to the person that decided to serve me a triple cheeseburger the one you see from McDonald's called the Big Mac. That's who they learn from the chefs over at McDonald's. NASTY WORK!!! She told me a price of 60$ on the phone then when it's time to pay she decided to tip herself extra 20$ for a total of 80$ for a meal my 3 year old daughter can make from her easy bake oven I go her for Christmas 3 years ago. First time ordering from this place. I have heard good things and was disappointed with the customer service i recieved. The man who took my order was rude and told me i should not get my food delivered and seemed to not want my business. When i ordered my food and continued with the delivery proccess he had something negative to say about everything and had a rude tone that did not welcome business at all. We happened upon Stewarts after a long day on the Delaware river. Myself and two boys enjoyed thick handmade burgers, perogies, and all those around us came for the special meatloaf. The family run place is truly family run. The brother is the cook and I found the now-elderly mom and daughter planting flowers out front. If you want home cooking and a great price, you can't beat this place for a great meal. This would've been five Star diner if you didn't need to bring kneepads and shinguards. If you're over 5'4" and don't sit at a round table you will crunch your knee and then your shin on the undercarriage of the tables. 1st time eating at a Stewarts and glad we stopped by. I dont remember our waitress's name but she was so nice! She was so sweet and have me a sample of the birch beer. I knew I had to have a birch beer float! Great service & very clean! The cheeseburger was delicious and hit the spot! My bf had the 209 burger and hot dog! He liked their sauerkraut a lot. The chips that came with the hot dog were very good too. May have been freshly made. Fries were very crispy just how I like it!
