Misleading written offer -- wasted a 4-hour trip I had a very disappointing experience with STG Auto Group in Chandler. I received a written message confirming an $18,000 purchase offer for my truck. The message clearly stated that as long as the vehicle was as clean as it appeared, the price would not be renegotiated when I arrived. Because of that written promise, I drove two hours across the Phoenix valley with my 75-year-old mother to complete what they said would be a 45-minute process. When we arrived, STG did not honor the $18,000 offer they had put in writing and attempted to change the price after we had already made the trip. What should have been a simple transaction turned into a four-hour round-trip waste of time and gas. If the price was not actually firm, that should have been communicated before asking someone to travel hours to their location. They engaged in a classic "spot delivery" (yo-yo sale): took our $4,500 down payment, let us drive off, then called days later claiming financing was denied. When we returned to get our legally required refund under ARS § 44-1371, the situation escalated immediately. Disorganized and Unprofessional Management: The manager had no understanding of our situation, became defensive, and initially refused to provide basic documentation such as a cancellation record or refund tracking. My boyfriend and I recently went through a frustrating ordeal with STG Auto Group, trading in two pristine vehicles-- a Jeep Trackhawk and a Toyota Corolla--all in perfect condition. Our experience has left us feeling defeated and depleted. First, we traded the Corolla for a 4Runner, which required an immediate alignment and new batteries for the key fob. The detailing done before we received the vehicle? A dismal 0/10. There was slimy oil all over the leather, a strong smell of smoke, and the back was still covered in dog hair. It was unacceptable. Next, we traded the Trackhawk for a GMC truck. We received a dinky little key and were informed that acquiring a fob would be an extra cost. To add insult to injury, the steering wheel was broken, the seatbelts were unusable, and the tailgate wouldn't unlock with the key. The only key entry point, the driver's handle, was also broken. To top it off, there were paint chips everywhere, suspiciously colored in with a Sharpie. Within just four hours of owning this truck, we got locked out twice. The first time we called AAA, and they confirmed that the driver's lock was definitely broken into. The second time we called our insurance, who also confirmed that the truck looked like it had been broken into or even stolen. We've wasted two weeks going back and forth with this dealer, and it's as if they purposely make you wait and frustrate you into giving up. Our overall experience has been horrendous, and I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing a vehicle here to take their business elsewhere. We traded in two perfect cars, only to be stuck with a truck riddled with problems and potential theft issues. Visited STG Auto Group to look at a vehicle we were already pre-approved for through our credit union. The first salesperson was pleasant, but things went downhill fast when we declined their financing after their rate came in a full point higher than our pre-approval. They immediately tried to inflate the car's price, became rude and combative, and the whole interaction turned toxic. To make matters worse, they refused to return our driver's license when we decided to leave -- which felt outright coercive. We had to demand it back. I drove 30 minutes to the dealership -- for the second time -- based on their assurances that the car would be ready. When I arrived, I was told the salesperson I was instructed to ask for was not working that day. I was then informed the vehicle was undergoing mechanical work and could not be test driven. None of this was communicated to me beforehand. I purchased a 2018 VW Atlas SE with Technology from STG Auto Group on March 27, 2026, and it has been one problem after another. When I received the vehicle, the dome lights would not shut off and the master window switch was not working properly. I contacted STG Auto Group and was told parts would be ordered. Before those issues were resolved, the vehicle began displaying a Start/Stop system error, the engine started shaking badly, and multiple warning lights came on, including the Check Engine and EPC lights. The service department told me these issues were repaired on May 29, 2026. However, on June 2, 2026, while driving on the freeway, the EPC light came on again and the vehicle suddenly reduced speed. This created a dangerous situation and I was nearly rear-ended. I have spent far too much time calling and following up on repairs for a vehicle I purchased only a few months ago. I was also told that I could have the vehicle towed at no cost to me, but that was not the case. My experience with STG Auto Group has been extremely disappointing. The vehicle has had multiple problems since purchase, repairs have not resolved the issues, and I no longer feel confident driving it. If I could give this dealership a -5 stars review, I absolutely would. At first, everything seemed great. Like every dealership, they constantly called, followed up, and acted extremely friendly while trying to get my business. But the moment I signed the paperwork, everything changed completely. First of all, every single time I went to the dealership I was attended by a different salesperson. You could clearly feel the tension and lack of teamwork between the employees -- it honestly felt like everyone only cared about getting their own commission. When I signed the contract, they verbally promised me 2 year of free services with them, but refused to include it properly in the paperwork. I even asked for a copy or proof of that promise and they would not provide it. At this point, maybe that was for the best because I would never want to take my car back there again. They delivered the vehicle claiming the oil change had been completed, yet the oil looked extremely old and dirty. The car also came without floor mats, and they promised they would mail them to my house. Weeks later, nothing arrived. I even went back personally to pick them up and still got nothing. The vehicle also had a crack that they promised would be sealed and repaired before delivery. That never happened. One of the tires had damage as well, and after specifically requesting it to be replaced, they assured me it would be handled -- again, another promise that was never fulfilled. On top of that, they financed an $800 GPS into my contract and told me paperwork and information for it would arrive later. It has now been 3 weeks and I still have received absolutely nothing regarding it. The worst part is the complete attitude change after signing. The salespeople Zahra and Yasseen, specifically, seemed irritated and annoyed the moment I came back asking about the promises they made. They barely acknowledged me and showed zero professionalism or courtesy once the deal was done. The cars may look good on the surface, but be very careful with the promises made here. At the time, my insurance company was already providing me with a rental vehicle at no cost. This dealership engaged in fraudulent and deceptive sales practices. I was pressured into signing a loan agreement with an extremely high 30% APR, under the false representation that it was part of a "program" with Exeter Finance. I was told the rate would only apply for six months and would then be automatically refinanced to a much lower rate. After contacting the lender directly, I was informed that no such program exists, that Exeter Finance does not offer refinancing, and that the dealership misrepresented the loan terms. This was a clear attempt to upsell me into a predatory loan using false information. Throughout the process, they repeatedly claimed they were "trying to help me," despite the fact that I did not need assistance and was already financially covered. Additionally, when I received the vehicle, the registration was issued under a different person's name, forcing me to return to have it corrected. I purchased the vehicle in the evening when visibility was limited and later discovered multiple chips in the windshield, which quickly developed into a major crack. When I contacted the dealership regarding the warranty, they failed to respond or return my calls. Within just 2-3 weeks, the car developed a major mechanical failure that was diagnosed as a blown head gasket. We got the initial diagnosis from a separate shop, I made multiple attempts to contact the dealership, specifically service manager Mario Quintanilla. While the issue was eventually acknowledged, communication became inconsistent and difficult, with repeated delays and a lack of follow up. I brought the vehicle back to the dealership, where it remained for several days before they confirmed the same issue. I was also advised by Mario Quintanilla not to drive the vehicle due to the severity of the problem. Since then, the vehicle has been sitting at their shop. I also spoke with Brennon Rivera in person regarding a resolution. Despite acknowledging the issue, the dealership has only offered partial assistance with repair costs, including a cost split that would still leave me responsible for a significant expense on a vehicle that failed almost immediately after purchase. You would think that they'd honor the warranty and do the right thing. So you want me to pay to fix a car I had issues with less than a month of purchasing? Where's the accountability? I was not provided with documentation showing that a proper inspection was completed prior to the sale and I have not received that information despite requesting it even in person. I made multiple efforts to resolve this situation directly, including in-person visits with both Mario Quintanilla and Brennon Rivera, but have not been offered a reasonable solution to them selling me a mechanically damaged vehicle. This has been an extremely frustrating experience, especially considering I relied on this vehicle and expected it to be in proper working condition when purchased from a dealership. I'm a new mom, I work really hard and I'm also a full time student. It's been escalated legally and I highly advise not to work with these dishonest people. During financing I purchased the "Ascent" maintenance package for $1,100 after confirming with the finance manager (Craig) that it was refundable. I later discovered the package is not refundable, which conflicts with what I was told at the time of sale. Additionally, the vehicle had an alignment issue STG indicated was covered under their warranty. STG attempted repairs on five occasions without resolution. I subsequently took the car to Lexus and paid $140 for the alignment repair, which resolved the issue. Finally, I was charged $175 for door guards that were never installed. Desired resolution: refund of the Ascent package (based on how it was represented), reimbursement of the $140 alignment cost, and refund for the uninstalled $175 door guards (or installation as originally charged). read more

I was even told not to drive it because of how serious it was, and it's been sitting at their shop since. I also spoke with Brennon Rivera in person to try to get this resolved. Even after acknowledging the problem, the only solution offered was splitting the repair cost--leaving me responsible for a major expense on a vehicle that failed almost immediately after purchase. On top of that, the sales side was just as bad. The listed price does not reflect what you actually end up paying. They add on excessive fees that aren't clearly disclosed upfront and try to tack them on at the end of the deal. It feels misleading and makes the whole buying process come off as dishonest. This same lack of communication occurred when I first purchased my car. The vehicle was returned to me in very poor condition, with food and baby items left under the seats from the previous owner. What they were asking for on a monthly payment just didn't make sense. The math wasn't mathing. I informed them from the very beginning that we didn't have much time due to a prior commitment. They had taken our drivers licenses and never returned them. I had to ask three times to get them back. After the third or fourth finance manager came in I had to get aggressive asking for my license. He walked away, mumbling "I was only trying to help you." this was right after we noticed that they were trying to get us into an 84 month loan. Which really didn't make sense with the numbers. There were a few other things that they did that they lied to us. I could go on for hours. They have texted me not less than six times since we left, all from different people, begging us to come back in, and they'll make it right. No thank you. Absolutely the worst dealership you could possibly buy a vehicle from. The communication skills are horrible. They respond so slow, and do not pick up your phone calls. I've called many times and messaged the sales person I was working with and they don't pick up, being a SALES MANAGER I expected better and faster service. Before actually buying the car the sales manager asked me to send them 500$ to "lock in the deal" and then sent me a email requesting 1000$ instead of 500$.... I still sent them the 1000$ and then got ghosted for 4 days... I called and called and messaged the sales manager but no response I thought he was working on paper work but on the 5th day I called he picked up. Turns out he forgot about me and the money I sent....yea so professional right..... anyways after all of that I bought a car from them as an out of state buyer. The car was supposed to be picked up the next day and when that day came they did not let the transportation company take the car even though they already had the money. Later that same day they call me saying the car is ready for pick up which doesn't make sense, since I paid out of pocket for my own transportation company to pick the car up and thanks to them the car got delivered 3 days late. Once the car arrived to me it was in way worse shape that it was on their advertisement online. A literal catfish..... In the pictures on their website there was no damage on the car so I expected at least for the car to be a 9/10 condition since the car only has 30,000 miles. The interior was filthy, there was chipped paint on the bumper and the side mirror had another cars paint on it like if it was hit. I specifically asked them if the AC and heater worked they told me everything worked BUT THEY LIED. The AC blows nothing but hot air and there is a check engine light. Besides that being the only mechanical problem the car has that's a huge problem to this car because that ac compressor cools the hybrid system. Here's most of the things that don't work in the car cosmetic & mechanical Door struts don't hold up the doors (passenger side is worse) Ac does not work Interior is dirty rear carpet stained Dashboard leather is extremely sun damaged, bubbled up, and ripped Big gap on driver side headlight Driver side fender has extremely bad work done to it Trunk does not pop up I have to pry it up when I click the open button on the remote Tires rub after I drive it it smells like burnt rubber Window tint was poorly done pealing off from passenger side window Driver side fender liner is falling whoever worked on the fender broke the tabs on the bumper Driver side side skirt is chipped. The sales manager said the car was "in like pristine condition" honestly not even close. When I called him about the cars condition when I received it all he has to say was "it's not a 2024 or 2025 car it's a used car you can't expect it to be in new condition there's nothing I can do about that". So yea guys just be aware still to this day after having the car for around a week I only drive the car 4 times and it's already broken down and the sales manager said he can't do anything about it and sent me a number of their service center but even they don't pick up my phone calls I called them 5 times in 1 day and each day I called them and no one picks up. This dealer is an absolute scam and everything about this place made it the buying experience from hell. They use bait and switch sales tactics and everything they can to waste your time. First when you show up they will run around for 30 minutes telling you they "can't find the car" before they magically find it (which is crap considering their lot is tiny and you could search the whole thing in 10 minutes max). The car was filthy dirty and had dog hair everywhere when they brought it up, some pieces of the trim were popped out, and the car was almost dead (ev). We talked to them about the car and said they had to make some changes but that we would go ahead with the sale if the fixed all of the problems that we mentioned and reduce the price since the major components of the car were still in good shape. They agreed and we get to the paperwork. In the middle of the paperwork they switch salespeople on us saying that original person we were working with wasn't authorized to do the sale because he was "too new" even after he told us he had been working there for over a year (which one was lying, I don't know, but sketchy none the less). The second sales person was slimy and wouldn't even look at us at all. Then they tacked on over $1,500 of dealers fees and didn't include the tint that they said would be installed free of charge, or fix anything that they said they were currently repairing "in the back" and gave us the car without it being detailed, dog hair everywhere as before. By this point (contrary to all our greater instincts) we had purchased the car. We took it home and then began what would be a 6 month waiting period to get our plates because they never filed the paperwork they needed to, and then said they had lost the title and needed to wait for a new one. After all of this, when we filed to get our used EV tax credit, which this vehicle qualified for and which was stated multiple times I the process that we "don't have to worry about it" and that they "will file all of the paperwork to get the credit", we couldn't get the credit. By this point it's no surprise to anyone that they didn't file the paperwork as they are legally required to, and now we are still battling with them to get it done. Every time we call they give us some runaround and can never get in contact with the person we need to contact so now we will go have to pay them some visits in person. Overall there is not a worse place to buy a car. They are dishonest and incompetent, and the whole operation is a complete scam. Make sure you get whatever they say they will do, in writing if you actually decide to buy a car from these slimy people. Surprised they even have a license to sell cars. DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM. This dealership has my car and now I am in a nightmare situation. I purchased a car last week using a trade-in that was involved in an accident. I told them of the damage on my car, and it was also on my carfax. For 2 hours the had my keys to do an appraisal, and I know for a fact they drove it. They gave me an offer, and we agreed on the trade-in for another used vehicle they had on their lot. We signed and I drove the new car home. 2 days later, the sales manager Craig texted me to come back in because the bank needed signatures/picture of the vin. I called the bank who told me this was false and that they already paid the dealership. I went aways to see what the issue was, and they proceeded to take my key for the vin verification and parked the new car into the garage. It turns out it was all a lie, and they threw me into a room and accused me that I hid the damage of my vehicle, which is ridiculous because we told the salesman up front about the accident and half the car isn't even painted! It couldn't be more obviously damaged. They tried to pressure me to cancel the sale. Calls to the general manager were not returned. I am now paying for two auto loans, and I have no car as they have both the trade and the new car. I will be reporting this to every agency I can, this is insane. First - they tried to sell us on spending twice the advertised price of the car we wanted with window tinting, Gap insurance (and we were paying cash - you don't need it if paying cash), and an extremely expensive extended warranty. Worst car buying experience I've ever had. I purchased a used Tesla Model Y from this dealership and the whole process was shady from the start. I offered a trade in but they offered $3K under Kelly Blue Book value. I kept my trade and was able to sell it at another location for a much higher amount. The car I did purchase had a huge crack on the glass roof that wasn't discovered until the next morning. I contacted the dealership to see about repairs and they were quick to respond to my email, but it has now been three weeks and nothing has been repaired. Mario Quintanilla won't even return my emails at this point. Their business office is a mess, too. They were having issues getting their funding for the car and made the impression that it was my fault. The car was funded and now I'm seeing issues with getting the car registered. Do yourself a favor and do not set foot in this Chandler, AZ auto location. The price advertised on CarGurus is fictitious. I asked for a line item cost breakdown how the vehicle (out the door price) went from approximately 24K to 28K. The salesman said he had to speak with finance manager to get the breakdown. Of course, the finance manager (who knows real title) was busy. After two hours at this location I still did not have a line item - out the door - price on a 2020 Lexus NX 300h. Finally, I just walked out the door. I was texted a lump sum price for the vehicle. Still no breakdown of items included in the price of 28K. I guess this nonsense works on enough people. On the plus side - this experience has convinced me to never look for a vehicle from this auto seller.
