Beautiful space, beautiful place. We had a great night celebrating a friends birthday, We started with oysters and champagne Those both went down nicely. I ordered the New York strip medium rare. Cooked on point. No need for anything on top. Nicely seasoned. Our waiter noted it was a birthday, and they provided a couple of free sides. We ordered the mushrooms and potatoes and they provided Mac n cheese and asparagus. All were very tasty. We also received a free chocolate cake for dessert. How wonderful!! We loved the service of the staff. We made a reservation in advance for our wedding anniversary and got a booth. Lovely view but the velvet couches made it hard to sit and move around a booth shaped table. We tried several dishes but our favorite was the cauliflower and special venison for the night. We were pretty stuffed after the main entrees and decided to skip dessert so they brought us complimentary wine instead. Such a great night at Stillwell's. We ate at the inside bar area and it was very cool Texas vibe. We had a wedge salad, shared a Ribeye steak, a huge lobster tail and a great bottle of wine. Nothing to write home about, Stillwell's is simply an average experience with average flavors. The complimentary bread course has the most flavor of any dish we had. Our steak was severely undercooked, even after sending it back, and the mushrooms and potatoes au gratin could've been mistaken for any other steakhouse's. Not impressed. read more

While the restaurant itself is quite cozy and romantic, the food and service was simply awful. To start, after waiting over 20 minutes for our champagne that was supposedly being chilled, someone brought our warm champagne bottle. In that time, the champagne flutes the sommelier offered had still not arrived. I'm not picky about the glass but he offered and it was our anniversary, so we thought it was festive. After pouring the warm champagne, our waitress left the warm bottle on the table and not in the ice bucket right next to it. My husband put bottle in the ice and the GM did come by and added ice and water to properly chill the bottle. The food was mediocre. The oysters were very small and VERY dry. The filet was good but the cut of steak recommended by our waitress, the Picania, was quite possibly the chewiest and worst steak I have ever eaten. The sides were ok but nothing you can't get at any other steak restaurant. The server rarely checked on us and was clearly more concerned with other tables. We were very excited to try the restaurant and had anticipated a fun romantic dinner. This clearly fell short. Luckily, we could laugh at how bad it was and agree we would not return. Maybe it was an off night but wow. It's rare I don't ask for the dessert menu but I wasn't sure I couldn't handle the disappointment. read more

Our table wasn't big enough for food and menus. Ok fine, but the server ( different from our waitress) took the menu and leaned it against the chair!?!?! We had the worst Beef Wellington I have ever eaten for Christmas here. Instead of individual Wellingtons, the chief decided to make it easy on himself to make a large very rare Wellington. Instead of a nice mushroom pate, the chief decided to use spinach crepes which were tasteless, thick, and wet. When served it was red from the raw meet and green from all the spinach crepes. I guess the chief was going for festive colors, red and green. The mashed potatoes that came with the meal tasted like instant mashed potatoes. The two carrots that came with the meal well, one was completely raw and the other little carrot was over cooked. The wait staff was excellent although it seems like more staff than customers. Very disappointing would do 2.5 stars if I could. Our dinner there was over 3 hours (not by our choice) because the service was so slow. Our server had at least 5 tables, and we only saw him maybe once every 30-45 minutes. When the food came out it was cold. We ordered a round of cocktails upon arrival and those drinks took 45 minutes to come out, which was especially odd because the manager came over to us at one point and said he would go check on them - we didn't get them for 25 mins after that (and had already been waiting around 20mins at that point). The dessert was the best part, we got the peanut butter bar, and it was quick and super delicious. 2 of the 3 entrees had good flavor but everything was cold when it came out and the waiter never checked-in. 3 scallops for $45? Ripoff. Lamb was cold; scallops were cold; fish was cold; baked potato was good but not standout. Very disappointing for a $500 meal for 4 ladies. The sommeliers were the only high notes of the meal - the woman was knowledgeable and prompt. I would not return here. This hotel is nice, but the restaurants were overpriced with low quality and generally disappointing. read more

Steak was incredible, enjoyed the ambiance, and Kyle has helped us every time and he's gone out of his way to make sure our experience was top notch. Unfortunately with a reservation for 9:15pm, I was not seated until 9:40pm. I am not sure why, given that the hostess gave me a viewing of my table upon arrival and I saw it was already cleaned and prepped. The waitress was very knowledgeable on the menu, although I was not impressed and had higher expectations for a the appetizer selection and sides selection. I, dining for 1, had to wait unnecessarily long for my drink and orders to come out. A group of men at the restaurant also complained about wait time. Being that the restaurant just opened 1 month ago, maybe kinks on service are still being worked out. The halibut and steak are their BEST dishes to order. The drinks are very good and on the stronger side. Perfect for intimate date night, private rooms are very large so great for celebrations. I am told by intel, they will have seating on terrace soon so that should be nice. Overall would rate 7/10 read more

Really enjoyed the style of thjs upscale steakhouse restaurant. The corridor coming in reveals 2 different sections: the lounge/bar or the dining room. Dark and moody with wood and velvet drapes. Acoustics were good. Could easily converse across a wide table without issue. Our server and sommelier were on point. We had the caviar which was divine, the oysters were good, and the steak was excellent. We were beyond stuffed but still managed to try the sundae and the peanut butter bar. Both were fantastic. Service was good, I mentioned it was cold when the hostess sat us and she brought me a nice plush blanket to keep warm. We enjoyed each of our cocktails, they were nicely chilled so they don't get watered down with ice. The food did not quite meet my expectations. We ordered the dumplings for an appetizer, they lacked salt and I definitely don't recommend as a shared app. For entrees we ordered the filet with crab Oscar and Delmonico Ribeye with black truffle butter. Steaks were good. For sides, we ordered the Mac & cheese and baked potato. The Mac lacked salt and wasn't cheesy. We both agreed dessert was the best part of the meal, we had the Peanut Butter Bar. My wife and I have tried all of the known named steakhouses in Dallas, so we wanted to try out a new spot! This is our new favorite place! From the moment you enter this beautiful family owned hotel Swexan(Swiss-Texan) to walking into the entrance of Stilwell's and you are welcomed by the neon silhouette of the midnight cowboy! We were greeted by a very friendly and inviting hostess and seated at our table. The dining area transported us into what felt like a mid-century steakhouse from the music to the velvet seats and waiststaff's attire! David and Jaqueline were our servers and they truly showed a passion for the menu, with Derek giving us a very detailed tour of their menu! We ordered the crab cake, a filet and Delmonico ribeye with Mac and cheese and fries! Everything thing was absolutely delicious. The GM Derek touched every table and was very nice chatting with us and giving us an interesting history of the restaurant and hotel. Came here for date night. Heard about the steak on multiple lists so we had to try it. First off the place is beautiful and the ambiance was really nice. We were seated quickly and our waiter was very attentive and super nice. We ordered the delmonico ribeye split between my wife and I. For the sides we did the mac and cheese. The steak was just ok. It was heavily salted snd crusted with pepper. We couldnt really get over the amount of salt in the crust. The cook was just as we ordered: medium. So no problems there. Oyster Rockefeller was rich and creamy, although we missed the usual char of oyster Rockefeller. Steak was excellent, cooked perfectly (medium-rare), well seasoned, very tender. Fish was well cooked, but a bit bland. Same as the oysters. Side dishes were good - corn, asparagus, mushrooms. First of all, the venue is beautiful. A very classy place that really impressed us. However, we were not so impressed with other parts of the dining experience. I will list them here: 1. It took quite some time for our waiter to come to our table. When he finally came, we were going to order drinks. I asked for a recommendation for a Sauvignon Blanc and the waiter said that another person was going to come over and talk to us about the vines. That person never came. When we then decided to order a wine on our own, we were told that wine was not available. Instead, the wine guy came over and presented us with 2 more expensive wines and said that he was not "trying to upsell us". We picked a more expensive wine based on the availability of wines. What should have happened here is that we should have been provided the better wine for the price of the original wine. The waiter mumbled something about comping the drinks, but he never did.           2. We ordered some appetizers to go along with the wine. They were great. However, after a while the waiter came back and offered to take our menus from us. We had to remind him that we had not even placed or order yet. He brushed it off saying that "he was just testing us" or something stupid like that. 3. Next it was time to place out orders. I wanted to order the Wagyu beef. Was told it was not available, so I ordered a 10oz filet instead. I ordered it Medium-Rare. It came out Well Done. Had to send it back to get a new file, which was cooked the right way. 4. We also ordered Potatoes au Gratin as a side. The potatoes were undercooked and hard. 5. The women at our table ordered the tile fish. They both did not eat it because they both claimed it was chewy and overcooked. 6. The women also ordered martinis. They did not come out in martini glasses. However, we did see that you all DID have martini glasses. The point of all this is that I don't think you can charge prices like this for this type of service or lack of food quality. We left really disappointed and will have a tough time recommending or going back. Beautiful place, mediocre service and food quality. Tried this place and was not disappointed. The steak was cooked perfectly and even though I'm more of a spinalis girl, every part of that steak was tender. The drinks were decent but the banana drink feels like it should be served over a large cube versus that crushed ice. It delutes pretty quickly. Cooper wanted on us, she was attentive and so sweet. Derrick stopped by to check on our experience twice, was great. The sommelier, I think his name was Angel, was so knowledgeable and recommended some great wines. All in all, had a great time. Where to start. Maybe let's start with the stool I had to sit on. Literally a stool with a tiny back support. Menu had much to offer, but when asked for recommendations, we were told the most expensive appetizer, 2nd course and entree. Please ! Can't you recommend a dish at a reasonable price. Our Initial order was foie gras with plum sauce. Plum sauce was just too sweet and overshadowed the taste of the foie gras. Wife ordered the bone marrow which to her was delightful to her tastebuds. Lastly who broils alaskan crab legs. Needless to say they were very dry, even toasted. They had their chance the first time, we won't be going back and recommend you don't either. read more
