Visited this evening and picked up my to-go order for $69 and change. The Food: Lobster Ravioli, barely had any taste to it, and the light oily broth it came in was disappointing. This was not a flavorful experience, I'd say lackluster. The blue crab croquet were three finger sized and shaped rolls. The size reminded me of 1/3 of a thin fried mozzarella stick. The taste was sub par here too, especially at these prices. The salted pita bread was a joke, and not a funny one. There are most assuredly better Italian restaurants in Dallas. I really wanted to like this place, I shop at the Whole Foods across the street, but could never get my schedule to work with Nonna's. This time I left the spa, phoned my order in, and picked it up. Four stars this time, but only because of a seating situation I'll get to in a second -- the food itself is easily five. Nonna has been on my radar for a while. A buddy of mine goes every other week and won't stop raving about it, and apparently Troy Aikman was in earlier this month, so I figured it was time to stop sleeping on it. The meal started with fried olives, which I didn't even know was a thing. I'm not usually an olive guy, but my friend talked me into trying them and I'm glad he did -- they were genuinely great. We followed that up with the brussels sprouts and a pepperoni pizza. Both were excellent and both brought some real heat, which I appreciated. For mains, our table went all in. The lobster ravioli was the star of the show -- impressive on both taste and texture, and we paid up for the larger portion, which was the right call. The cacio e pepe pappardelle took me straight back to Florence in one bite. And the lasagnette with Wagyu chuck and brisket in a plum tomato ragu? I could have eaten an entire tray of it. That one alone is worth the trip. Now, the one thing I'd warn anyone about: do not book in the Tabu section. It's a separate bar area with a live jazz band, and while that sounds fun in theory, the volume made it nearly impossible to have a conversation. I didn't know going in, and it definitely put a small damper on the evening. Best Italian food in Dallas!!! I didn't realize the same owner of Nonna also owns Barsotti's and Fachini - two of my other favorite Italian restaurants in Dallas! They all 3 offer different menu items but I love that Nonna's menu changes daily. We sat in the main dining room but the Tabu room looked like a great place to sit for date night when they have live music!! For starters we got the arancini and the Brussels sprouts. The arancini were so amazing but the pesto on the bottom blew them out of the water. The Brussels had this amazing spicy sauce on them that just was unlike anything I've had on a Brussels! For the pizza we had the spicy sausage, which was very good and light! Skip pizza if you want several pastas. For pasta we just got the Tarajin al Ragu that was indescribable. It was the best pasta I think I've ever had!! The sauce was creamy and the fresh homemade pasta was delicious. For dessert we got some sort of Jamoca Almond Fudge thing that was amazing! Best Italian food in Dallas!!! I cannot describe how amazing my food here was. Service was exceptional and our waitress had amazing recommendations for me especially being vegetarian. The ambiance in the Tabu lounge was moody and super cute- I wish I was able to come when they had live music! Food wise we were given a complimentary fried olive dish that melted in our mouths. It had a cheesy interior but was still very light. Then we got the artichokes and oh my- they were so unique and tasty. Im not the biggest fan of artichokes but these you have to try! Then for the main, I was hesitant to get the Truffle pasta incase the flavor was too overwhelming, but Im so glad I got it. It was by far the best pasta I have had in Dallas. It was just the right amount of truffle, mushroom, and cream. I think about this meal a lot. To end the night, we got the banana dessert. It came with a side of corn ice cream, which to my surprise, was delicious! The main cake portion had banana and espresso flavors that tied well with the ice cream and was so unique. We ate at the tabú lounge at Nonna. A very cozy and intimate vibe with live jazz music playing in the evening. You are served with this olive bread as a starter which was delicious and melted right in your mouth. We got a side of the Brussels sprouts and the Maine ravioli lobster as my main dish. Fernando was our server, and he was helpful in highlighting the vegetarian options and explaining the portion sizes for the four of us. We ended up getting the Cacio e Pepe and Pizze Alla Vodka pizzas to share, as well as an entree sized Farfalle Marrone. My favorite, however, were the Crispy Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer! Love the food here, the pasta and wine list are always great. The jazz bar is a great place to get a drink and the atmosphere is super elevated without being stuffy. The girl didn't know how many oz per serving, what wagyu meant (is it a5?), clearly had zero fine dining experience. Made ordering complicated. Fully admitting the main reason we dined in recently was to enjoy the live music on Saturdays. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. I'm picky when it comes to Italian food. I will say compared to what we have in Texas this is on the higher end of options but I've had better. The best dish was the mortadella pistachio pizza. Sadly, the truffle cream sauce pasta (white sauce in photo) had no salt! The flavor was just bland with that. Overall it was a good meal but not mind blowing. Brett was out water and did a phenomenal job. He picked what we got to eat and we loved everything he picked. From the artichoke, to the seasonal salad, to pasta, ravioli, pizza and clams. I'm giving Nonna 5 stars for food and 3 stars for service. Averages out to 4 I guess. We shared the burrata and white clam pizza. That pizza alone made my night. I love my friends, but man that pizza. Just a perfect cheesy saucy mix with a little pepper kick at the end. We then all got pasta, and I thought my spaghetti with shrimp was good, but I loved my friend's tortellini, so good!! Just perfect pasta. The insides were Luke velvet. The service. No one came to the table for 15 minutes. We finally asked for a waiter, and he came over. Didn't realize we were his table. So that was pretty much the rest of the night. Dinner took forever because he had too much on his plate. Glad I like talking to my friends. read more

Wonderful service by the team to accompany delicious food and delicious drinks by Blake the bartender. Man knows his stuff. After sitting at the bar and watching him work, he's a pro, then i learned it's only his 2nd day at the restaurant. He let me know the menu changes everyday and recommended the grilled avocado with fennel, grapefruit, and fresh peas. Definitely a great recommendation. Pasta was perfectly cooked, i got the garganelli alla bolognese (4/29/23) it was freshly made and al dente. Wonderful old fashioned cocktail made with jack daniels 10yr. They also had blanton's, maker's mark, woodford reserve, and other staple whiskeys. Some neat rare finds of amaro, bourbon, and armagnac. (Main) Garganelli - 5/5 - The pasta dish was the star of the meal. All of the ingredients worked well together and made a very unique sauce that tasted incredible. (Dessert) Limoncello Cake - 5/5 - The limoncello cake was light, airy, and had just the right amount of lemon flavor. The restaurant was small and inviting. Nonna treated us well during DFW Restaurant Week last month! The place was packed and for good reason. Because they only serve the restaurant week menu during that one week during the entire year, the turnover for each party is pretty quick, but we didn't feel too rushed (probably because we ended up arriving a bit early and therefore seated early). We started with some complimentary olive and bread service. The bread was pretty interesting -- it look liked a huge calzone dough that was fired briefly in the pizza oven and then presented on a plate. We would've enjoyed something to go with the bread, since it was a bit bland all on its own (maybe some olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping) but still, it was a fun first course. For appetizers, we chose the ricotta crostone, which was super refreshing and very flavorful and came on perfectly crisped bread, and gnocchi, which was delightfully crisp on the outside and light pillowy goodness on the inside. For mains, we chose the white clam pizza which was HUGE and had a very generous amount of clam, and the lobster ravioli which was much lighter than we expected but also excellent. It was so different to experience lobster ravioli in a brothy sauce rather than something thicker, but we really enjoyed it! Our desserts were the praline dessert, which we didn't expect to be more like ice cream -- delicious but a tad too icy -- and the peach crostada, which was warm and delightful. Tartness of the peaches paired perfectly with the flaky crust and the sweet vanilla ice cream on top. We were impressed by our experience here and we will be back to try the rest of the menu! read more

Don't let the location in a strip mall fool you, this restaurant is romantic, warm and chic inside. A wood burning oven is a focal point for the restaurant - both aesthetically and for the food. We loved the vodka pizza with shishito peppers... the blistered bubbles of crust were fluffy and oh so divine (thank you, wood burning oven)! Here is what we ordered and how I would rate: - Chocolate orange & almond tart (7/10) - Cappelletti di spinaci al forna (7.5/10) - Complimentary olives & fresh bread (8/10) - Little gem salad (8/10) - Pizze alla vodka (10/10) - Oven roasted scallops (10/10) - Lemon basil martini (10/10) On the down side, our service was just OK (unnecessarily grumpy gentleman) and parking was hard to snag; however, those things wouldn't deter me from going back whatsoever. Our friend from Rockwall, Victor, highly recommended Nonna's, so we made a reservation. When we arrived, the hostess checked her chart and seated us at a prime table. (Lucky us, we thought). Our server, Jack, then made sure that we were quickly delivered a serving of your delicious bread with dipping oil and olives. It was then divine! Then, much to our surprise, Chef Garrett arrived tableside to chat and help us decipher some of the dishes on the menu. After a minute or two he asked, "Do you mind if I just take care of you this evening and send out some of my favorites?" We happily agreed. One by one, Jack delivered to our table a variety of wonderfully prepared dishes, each one seemingly exceeding the one before. Our tastebuds were dancing! Everything was magnificent! My wife and I were both blown away. First by the comfortable ambiance of the restaurant, then by the incredibly delicious creations of Chef Garrett, and also the expertly timed and cheerful attention by Jack. I really hate to do this, but I have to be honest!! We were so excited to have dinner in Nonna's jazz lounge on Friday, Bacari Tabu. Our reservation was at 8pm. Upon arrival, they let us know that our table wouldn't be ready for another 20-25mins. We said we'd wait by the bar until then. Another 20mins went by, and the host came by to let us know that it would probably be another 25mins. He told us we could go sit in the restaurant side until our table was ready in the lounge. After another 25mins, we hadn't heard anything. I decided to go back to the lounge side and ask a different hostess if our table was ready and she explained that she thought we were all settled on that side of the restaurant. I told her we were still waiting on our table in the lounge. They hurriedly sat us in the lounge after that conversation. Once we were FINALLY seated at 9:10pm, our waitress didn't come by for another 15mins. I had to ask the host if we had a waiter. Once she came by at 9:30, we were able to place our order. Only one pasta came out, even though we ordered multiple things. The rest of our food didn't come out until 10:15. The manager came by and asked us how we were doing so we explained, and he gave us a free dessert, as well as one glass of wine off our check. However, this is not how you should handle customers and reservations. This was my second time here, and I hate to say it, will likely be my last due to the service.... We had a very friendly waiter. He made my mom and I laugh all night. The margarita pizza was the best pizza I've had in Dallas. Octopus and lamb appetizer were good. Unfortunately, pasta was a hit or miss. The shrimp one was bland (I can cook better pasta), another mediocre, and one good but wasn't exactly mind blowing. The setup inside Nonna felt a bit awkward. We were seated at a table right next to the kitchen and could constantly hear the receipt printer going off, which was really distracting during dinner. The space also did not feel very clean. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. I am not sure what all the hype is about. I actually much preferred the vibe of Tabu next door, which looked more inviting and fun. I probably will not be returning. read more

Here's the story. Food gets 5 stars!!! Service from Walter should get zero stars so in all fairness this place gets 3 stars. It was a special dinner I set up for my family for a birthday and college send off. Upon arrival our table was set in the bar, since we were a family of four this evening and my daughter being the youngest to join (16) I would have preferred a quieter table. Oh well not a big deal and nothing a 16 year old hasn't already seen. : ) however she was exposed to 50+ year old men with 20+ year old dates and they should have really gotten a room instead of dinner. The first issue was Walter wanted nothing to do with our table. Pretty much was turned off immediately knowing we weren't having drinks. Big Jerk about it and it was obvious. My family had not been here, but I had and if you had a question about something on the menu we were better off looking it up on google. That's pretty much what my wife and kids did on a few items of interest. The service - zero stars thanks to Walter. Funny how he was Mr Personality at the other tables throughout the restaurant. The Food - everything we ordered was fantastic. 5 stars. Remember we picked our orders based off of google searches. Atmosphere - small place , very loud , music was blaring in the bar area which made it hard to talk to your own table. Seems like a very clickish place for only regulars. No one north of 635 kind of feel. To all the older guys dating your daughters friends. Keep it clean next time.
