Came here for lunch while visiting family in Galveston. The view of the intercostal waterway is beautiful!!! The food was delicious. My husband ordered the shrimp poboy. This thing was loaded with shrimp. The shrimp were fried perfectly. I'm not a seafood fan and opted for the fried chicken sandwich. This had the perfect amount of breading and wasn't over fried like so many other places. The highlight of lunch was our server. She was absolutely amazing! Stayed on top of things and it was like she could read my mind when I needed something. I didn't even have to ask. On our next trip to visit family, I will definitely be returning. read more

Good service, environment and food! Stopped by this spot because I was in the area and found it Yelp. The place is full of locals and fishermen and most peopled seemed to know each other. The service by our waiter was spot-on and very attentive. We ordered the turkey sandwich which was very good tasting and seemed very fresh. Everybody seemed to be having fun in there which created a very positive and enjoyable atmosphere. I would definitely come back. My daughter and I ate lunch here on Mother's Day. There was a little bit of a wait but we spent it sitting on their new deck watching the boats go by. We started with the crab stuffed jalapenos which were huge and fried perfectly. Then we decided to split the grilled seafood platter, which was just fine because the portions were HUGE!!- red beans and rice, shrimp etouffee, 2 grilled crabs, 2 skewers of shrimp, two portions of fish and a stuffed shrimp ! All the seafood had such a wonderful smokey flavor we didn't even need any cocktail sauce or butter. For dessert my daughter ordered a slice of key lime pie that had a nice chocolate crust- so good! Very good seafood place on a beautiful setting. Lots of grilled options and of course fried too. Salad was just barely ok. But dinner excellent. Grilled snapper throats unique and awesome. Grilled platter very good. Stuffed shrimp lost in a wad of not so good stuffing. But overall excellent. Red beans and rice was better than dirty rice but both good. Very good service. After receiving poor service from Steve's Landing, we decided to go here for some seafood. It was perfect. It wasn't as fancy as Steve's but the service was amazing and the food was delicious! I had a great experience here. A storm was rolling in so we could watch it from where we sat. It was comfortable and would definitely come here again when we visit Galveston! read more

All you can eat oysters on Wednesdays during February! Wow, the freshest and most delicious gulf oysters you can find anywhere. Our server Betty happily served us dozen after dozen of oysters served up fried, grilled, Rockefeller, Bienville, Jose and of course on the half shell! We'll be back! read more

Great location, you have to have the seafood here of course. The pecan crusted catfish was delightful. It can get a bit busy and that slows down the service despite very hard working floor staff. The soft shell crab and the shrimp are also recommended. There are some poor tables so be decisive on that front. read more

Great spot to go for fresh seafood. Plenty of options to get for even the non-seafood lovers. I recommend the fresh gulf snapper. Their appetizer sampler is huge, and could almost serve as its own meal. You definitely can't leave without getting some of their bread pudding. We had a wonderful dinner at Stingaree last week. Service, food and friendly servers were a treat. As we were trying to decide which crab entree to order, one of the servers, not ours, overheard our conversation and stopped to ask if she could be of help. How nice! She was busy waiting her own tables, but took time out to describe the dishes so we could make the right choice. Crab Cakes and Lump Crab in Basil Butter were excellent. Go early because this place gets packed. It has good food and a nice view. The total bill was a bit pricey but I felt it was worth the money. I had the fried seafood platter which had more that I could eat at one time. The only thing I didn't like was they fried the entire crab, which makes it hard to eat. We had a long wait on a Sunday evening as there still aren't many choices to eat at since Ike but that didn't bother us. What did bother was the cold food, lack of drink refills, and lack of utensils. Our area needed an extra waitress. The calamari seemed to be from frozen instead of fresh and greasy. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I have noticed many reviews from past customers of Stingaree's that have had a similar experience with the employees and owner that we did. This implies MANAGEMENT POLICY: we do not except any reports of poor, unprofessional and ugly customer service! Poor and Ugly Customer service by our employees means the CUSTOMERS are at FAULT! Upon entering Stingaree, we made our way to the reservation desk where we asked for a table. I gave my name and was asked for my cell phone #. I replied in a joyful manner, "we have no cell phone". (We agreed we were not going to be disturbed that night and left our phones in the car). I was told that she had to have a number for us to be notified when our table was ready. The bar is only about 15 ft inside the restaurant. I replied "we will be sitting right there at the bar and easy to find." Her response was "well, you may not get a table then." With that, my response was "that's ok, you are not the only restaurant on this island" and proceeded to the bar. We sat at the bar and ordered a drink. The bartender was very polite. As we waited for our drink, a lady approached and said "Mr. I DON'T WANT TO BE DISTURBED," your table is ready and pointed to an empty table completely across the restaurant and walked off. Being an independent small business person for 40 years, I certainly would want to know if one of my employees was remotely rude, ugly or out of line in any fashion with one of my customers. At that point I asked the bartender if the manager was in. She said no but the owner was there and I asked to speak with him when he had a chance. A few minutes later, a young man came up holding a styrofoam cup. I shook his hand and introduced myself. I told him I was a business owner and always appreciated being informed of any issues my customers might encounter. I explained what had taken place, and he said his wife also worked there. (It was quite obvious that neither of the ladies we dealt with was his wife.). My friend very softly said, "whoever they were should be a little nicer". At that point he reached over and picked up our drinks....and I'm thinking he is going to walk us to the table. Then HE SAYS, "YOU'LL NEED TO LEAVE!! I KNOW YOUR TYPE !!" To say the least I was astonished. My reply was, "you're kidding!!" With his response I realized there was something special in that Styroform cup he was holding. He followed us out of the restaurant down the steps right next to me, bumping me more than once and barking at us all the way to our car about 50 yards from the restaurant shouting, "this is my restaurant and I DON'T NEED YOUR BUSINESS". If you patronize this business be careful. The attitude of the employees comes from the top down. I'll bet he didn't start or develop that business!!! DANGEROUS-DANGEROUS SITUATION!! read more

We had quite a drive from Houston to try this place out and were not totally disappointed. Our waiter Cody did the best he could but they were very under staffed on the Saturday that we went. The food was really good however the prices were pretty steep I feel like. And when we got our plate that me and my fiancé shared (bc by the menu it looked like there would be mkt3 food) we both looked at each other and weren't sure if it would fill us both up. I would maybe go back and have a beer in the summer and maybe a side dish. But the prices are a little high and I probably wouldn't get a larger meal again. It was okay. The server was friendly, the food was alright. They kept the place clean. Nice bathrooms. The most notable thing was the view you get from the windows. It's nice to be able to look out and see all that water. However, there are not many vegetarian options. Although I realize I should not expect a seafood place to carry vegetarian items, it would be nice to have a choice other than a salad. I went here because my family wanted to go, and I had to tag along. They seemed to enjoy their meal though. My reaction to it is basically "meh." Not bad. Three of five stars. read more

Just had dinner. I had the Combo Platter with boiled shrimp and grilled oysters. David had the Grilled Seafood Platter with Etouffee. From the minute we came in the door the service was exceptional. They were wall to wall packed and the wait was supposed to be 37 minutes. We stopped at the bar for a beer and were served fast. We wanted on the patio and it was pleasant and comfortable. After being seated, our server Brittany was fast to take our drink and appetizer order (Stinger Egg, delicious!) and Bobby was fast to bring them out. Then our order was taken quickly and served quickly. The food was amazing! Our check came as we finished up along with an offer of dessert and some to go boxes. We decided to take the boxes and skip the dessert. We we're stuffed! While eating we watched Brittany and Bobby handle a table full of rambunctious youngsters and three tired adults. They were excellent and you could tell the kids felt special when their food was served. Bobby smiled and talked to each child as he served. Decided to eat here on basis of yelp reviews. Even though it was busy, our server was lovely ; she handled her many tables with aplomb and friendly attention. However, the food left much to be desired. Ordered appetizers of boudin balls, not sure how many versions there are but these did not resemble the ones we had in LA. Instead of crispy breaded outer coating these were heavy & solid. The seasoning of grilled seafood platter was heavy handed and all the food, strangely oily and overdone, especially the unfortunate shrimp brochettes. Our first time here, Kristen was our server and did a great job, I was disappointed that they didn't have oysters on the half shell but had the french grilled oysters and they were amazing!
