My friend and I tried this place for dinner because it was in walking distance from our hotel. We were not disappointed. The menu is a little limited with options but the options they have all looked great. My friend and I both got fish and shrimp tacos grilled. They were huge plenty of food fresh really good. The fact that this is literally on a pier so the views of the ocean and the beach are just incredible. We were eating at sunset so it made the view even better. The waiter could've been a little more attentive. We had to ask for refills, but they were a little busy so I understood. I wanted to eat on the water, and there aren't that many places to do that, enter Jimmy's. You go through the gift shop and upstairs, where the atmosphere changes. You're up in the breeze, ten degrees cooler than the stagnant, oven heat below. The place is nothing fancy, but you're there for the breeze and the water view and that's what you get I got blackened a fish taco and a chicken fajita taco, both good. The slaw on the taco could have been much better with more lime, less mayo? Not sure what was in it honestly, but citrus would have made it even better. I had a couple of bites of the burger, it was good. The wings were a special, not usually on the menu, wouldn't recommend those, there was an odd flavor. The pretzel bites weren't a big hit either. The salad was wilted. It's clear they make them earlier and leave them laying about. The fish was squishy. It tasted good, oddly given how squishy it was, but the texture was just not pleasant. The chips, French fries, were sad. It was a bed of those kind of breaded french fries but they too weren't fresh. The server was nice, but it took forever for the food. What a great experience on the pier. It reminded me of Florida. We were greeted quickly and served within 15 minutes. The food was yummy and the portions were very large. We were recommended to Jimmy's by a couple at our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. The first night we came, the wait was estimated at an hour to an hour and a half, so we decided to come back another day. When we returned, we were told the same wait time, but the hostess mentioned we could sit at the bar with no wait, so we decided to do that. Our bartender/server was okay--not rude, but not especially friendly either. He took care of everything we needed, though. The hostess also didn't seem very welcoming and almost seemed happy to turn people away if they didn't want to wait. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time. It wasn't piping hot, but it still tasted good. The basket had a good amount of shrimp and fries so that was a plus. The fries were definitely a highlight--they were delicious! We also loved the view and took some pictures while we waited for our food. Overall, it was an okay experience. We went yesterday night, 6pm, 3 kids 2 adults. 1 hour wait, no problem. We just walked down to the water for a bit until they called AND texted. Which ! We came back up and they sat us either inside or out by the water. We chose by the water. Everyone said the sodas were kind of terrible, my drinks were eh. But the FOOD OMG. We got the sampler platter thing with bacon wrapped shrimp, fried pickles, pretzel bites, and French fries. Was cleaned. The clam chowder was the best I have ever had. Mom and I split the Texas fish and chips. I hadn't ever had fried flounder before, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to go back to catfish or haddock. Kids tore up their fried shrimp and chicken fingers. This business is basically three things, a restaurant upstairs, a coffee shop and gift shop downstairs and a long fishing pier behind them both. The gift shop also sells souvenirs, cold drinks and fishing lures to name a few. Depending on the weather, the pier itself can have dozens and dozens of people fishing on it along with the ever watching hopeful pelican. Access to the pier is $15 per day and you can bring your own rod and real or rent them here and pick up some frozen bait. You can book your private party here, and they even have a live cam that you can tune into which you'll see in the photos below. Decent food with a great view. They don't have a ton of gluten free options. I was excited to try the bacon wrapped shrimp but it's fried in the flyer with breaded stuff so it's not GF. I ended up getting their pesto salad with shrimp. It was a pretty good salad. The staff were friendly. The best part of the experience is the view you get from just about every table, it's right on the pier. It wasn't my first choice but it was walking distance so I gave it a shot. So, we were hanging out with friends after an amazing day at the beach and they chose the place to eat. The view of the gulf that day was just stunning--definitely the highlight of the whole experience. Even though I've been around Galveston for over 40 years, I'd never tried Jimmy's before. Getting there was a hassle, though, because it's part of this super popular fishing pier and parking was 2-3 blocks away. When we finally got to the restaurant, we had to navigate through a gift shop packed with tourist stuff, then climb up two flights of these really narrow stairs. The place was crammed, except for the patio, which had zero shade. We couldn't even see the hostess stand, so we wandered around for a bit until I managed to ask a server how to get seated. She was nice and pointed to a table that was just finishing up. So, it was kind of a race to snag that table with more people coming in. We ordered calamari and fish tacos. The calamari was pretty good, but the fish tacos were a letdown. Once we got seated and ordered, our server was really nice and did her best to keep up with everything. Honestly, this place isn't really my vibe. I don't like having to scramble for a table or deal with a parking hunt. But, if the food was amazing, I might give it another shot, especially for that stunning view. read more

Food is good not great. Service is usually very good. Atmosphere inside is good, but you've got to navigate across the stench of garbage outside to get inside. It's just nasty. I understand that they can't have an on-site dumpster, but the garbage stench and putrid water out front is disgusting. Not what you want to endure after eating a nice meal. Very enjoyable. This is the place I take friends and family too whenever they're in town. Clean and consistent. A pleasant and helpful waitstaff. All of us thought the food was very good. Their seafood dishes, prepared the way you want them. The burgers and salads do not disappoint. I'm a big fan of their bloody Mary's. I don't like mine very strong and my bartender got it just right. Everyone else said their drinks were great also from beer and wine to mixed drinks I think it's one of the most relaxing, pleasant places to be watching the ocean. I stayed at the Galveston Beach Hotel. Not a lot of food options on this end. Jimmy's was walking distance. I had the fried shrimp. There were ten large ones and too many fries. Diners show their receipt and can walk along the fishing pier. This was night and there many fisher people. I don't know what they were catching, but there was a steady line of wagons hauling gear checking in at the tackle shop. $5 entry fee read more

Edit: I have been to Jimmy's over 30 times in the past 5 years that I have lived on the island. The food has gone significantly downhill. Not only do they give you wrong orders, but they have cheaped out in ingredients. Burgers used to be served on a challah bun. The fries used to be beer battered. They got rid of the best thing on the menu too- the loaded beer cheese fries. The seafood tastes stale. I have tried to redeem it a few times since I noticed it going downhill, but every time it gets worse. I haven't even started on the service. Service is terrible. One of the waiters never asked us for our drinks, then I was given the wrong order. The waiters are also standoffish and unhelpful. Me and my peers- who spent a lot of time in the island tourist industry, stopped telling people to go here because it has gotten so terrible. The only thing nice about this place is the view. If you really wanted to try this place out, I recommend getting a drink and that's it. Never going here again until they get their stuff together. I love Jimmy's. I have been coming here for two years, ever since I moved to Galveston, and I have had a good experience every time. The waterfront view is amazing. I've been here on rainy days, foggy days, sunny days, and during the night, and the ambiance has never disappointed. I have introduced this place to so many friends and family as well. This is a great place if you want a view of the water without the seawall obstructing your view. Open air seating, you get a nice breeze. Menu has great selection & we had a very attentive waiter with many great suggestions to help us decide what to get. One of the best bloody Mary's I've had (he wasn't kidding). Onion rings were large, tasty and not greasy. Gumbo cup was good sized and delicious. If you don't want rice in it, ask for it on the side. Fish tacos are large portions, double corn tortilla wrapped and the slaw they put on top is delicious. Fish and chips looked amazing. I didn't taste them but my friend enjoyed hers. I didn't expect much because many of the places that have a great view, don't always have the best food. But, Jimmy's definitely didn't disappoint. They also have a large pier that you can apparently go fishing from. There's a gift shop on the main floor and fishing gear and supplies if you wanted to fish from the pier. Things that could use improvement, service was lackluster, the waitress seemed bothered by every request (e.g., can I get some hotsauce, limes for the fish taco). She also forgot to put in our order of pickle chips and they took forever to come out after we reminded her. Fish and shrimp tacos were not worth the price. Things that caused the two star rating, Armando burger sucked! The burger patty is super salty, too thick and cooked to a weird play dough consistency. It came with a thick (I mean thick) slice of tomato, I ate it separately or it would have overpowered the burger. Wilted piece of lettuce, no mayo, mustard, or ketchup, I don't bother asking when I found out. The waitress was nowhere to be found so I could ask. The bottom bun was so soggy it fell apart, see the picture. I would go back to enjoy the view and order a beer and maybe the pickle chips or some fries, but that's about it. After a long day, a friend and I decided to stop in at Jimmy's on the Pier for drinks and it was such a fun experience. We sat at the bar and ordered a margatia and a mojito - both drinks were excellent. The food menu also looked delicious but we had eaten earlier in the evening. I like that the restaurant overlooks the pier and the water while also having a nice indoor atmosphere. At the bar, we were able to chat with the bartenders who were all very friendly and happy to chat. One thing I thought was great was that all of the staff seemed to be from diffrenent places and it was so interesting getting to hear why they chose galveston and such. After we finished having drinks, we were told that if we showed our receipt downstairs that we'd get free access to the pier so we did. It was a bit drizzly so we didn't stay long but it was nice getting to walk it and see the view from the end.
