Beef nachos

HardHeads in Crystal Beach is a great place to watch the game, get some cold beverages and enjoy a good time! We came between meals so ordered some nachos and funnel cake fries which were both really good. The funnel cake fries needed a little more powdered sugar so that's just what we added. My vodka cherry limeade was quite tasty! Go check the place out!

Crystal Beach ~ Hardheads I've had the pleasure of visiting Crystal Beach due to my family owning a fabulous beach house. It's miles of beach yet ironically it's not commercialized at all. You won't find a Walgreens etc. but there's one market for all of your food needs and a few bars and restaurants. My first night there was visiting this cute establishment. I wish I could've taken more pics but when you've just jumped off a plane, taken a two hour ride to then hop on the ferry to get here, it's tough. The food was great, service was sweet. I'll have to find the rest of the food pics but suffice to say, this place is worth visiting.

I will have to come back for a second chance for this one. Based on our first experience, it's just okay, barely. Our experience was on a Friday night, and I'm guessing for this place, busy. Our server looked pretty intimidated by everything, even a simple request for lemon looked like it may be rough. I did get the lemon though, so there's that. Smoking is rampant here In crystal beach, and allowed in this entire restaurant. Gross, no second visit is going to change that. I mean, wtf? Cigarettes kill Texans too. The super nachos ( probably not correct name) were really good. I enjoyed those more than my blackened catfish. I heard the ceviche was good, but I heard that about the fries too, and that was wrong. Still, we will probably go back for another visit at some point as we really like this little area.

Crispy fish bites & fried shrimp

Perfect for a Friday night. There was not a wait - we waited almost an hour last night at a different seafood spot. The fish bites were light and crispy as was the fried shrimp. The ranch was was bigger than normal. excellent meal!

The fried fish bites are probably the best fried catfish I've ever had. Nice open-air atmosphere and local beer on tap.

Unfortunately it also allowed the biting flies to torture the poor service dog that was with us. And also it was hot. Sooo hot! We placed our orders for the shrimp basket and shrimp tacos. I requested fries but received grilled. Still tasty. And last time I was automatically served sweet potato fries (I fed the seagulls) but this time I was given a choice of fries. I loved the fried green tomatoes with a sauce that almost tasted like chuy's ranch, but it came with a creamy bacon that was good and reminded me of potato soup. My "top shelf" margarita was only $2 more but came with an extra shot. The boudin balls were amazing flavor, nice & moist cooked perfectly. I ordered the fish basket with 5 pieces of fish and bought enough home to have it for lunch out of the air fryer the next day. Husband had the ahi tuna & said it was wonderful flavor. We arrived hungry & left happy with enough lunch for the next day. Great find and will eat again! Joy, was our awesome server to be sure to request her for the best service you could ask for!

Disappointing experience. This restaurant falls short in…read moreboth of the cuisines it advertises--Tex-Mex and Cajun. You know there's a problem when you're charged for chips and salsa. A true Tex-Mex restaurant typically serves complimentary chips and salsa, but that wasn't the case here. The nachos were simply a pile of chips covered with canned nacho cheese sauce instead of individually layered chips topped with beans, cheese, and jalapeños. Honestly, the food at Pancho's was better, which says a lot about the level of quality here. The Cajun dishes were somewhat better, but they still didn't compare to restaurants like Pappadeaux or Landry's. They likely stay busy because they're the only option in the Bolivar Peninsula/Crystal Beach area. The atmosphere and service were the highlights of the visit. Unfortunately, the overpriced menu resulted in a hefty bill that left us feeling underwhelmed and unsatisfied. There's plenty of room for improvement, and I hope the owners from Beaumont make some upgrades to better match the quality their menu promises.

Great flavor in the boil and not too much nitro dusting. Great deal at $30 for 5 lbs. My wife and I each ordered one. This included the two crawfish place as well as the cheeseburger my daughter had (this one doesn't like crawfish). Place is packed on weekend evenings, but a great place to sneak into during the early afternoon. If we are back on the peninsula we are definitely coming here if it's crawfish season. I had so many places bookmarked and many of them had nearly identical cuisines, mostly centered around seafood. But Shuck's had the highest ratings of the bunch, and the key to my heart is an extra tenth or two of a star rating. I ordered the panko parmesan oysters to start, which were... fine. My wife ordered the fried pickles, and while fried pickles are pretty much the same no matter where you try them, they indeed hit the spot here. We ordered our son some chicken tenders and fries, which I was happy to steal a few bites of, despite it being pretty typical. You can't throw chicken tenders in my face and expect me not to indulge. Lastly, we finished with a lobster roll. And while we prefer the Connecticut style lobster rolls (hot with butter), this New England style version was pretty enjoyable too. Our server was super friendly and treated us like we were old pals. It was a nice way to start off our Galveston adventure.

Great Place and Good Food…read more My wife and I enjoyed dinner at Katie's Seafood House the evening before a cruise, and everything was great. When we arrived, there was about a 30-minute wait for a table in the main dining room, so we just grabbed the first available table in the bar area. Th server immediately noticed our presence, and came over, introduced herself and took our drink order. We shared the Crab Stuffed Shrimp for $34.00 which included 4 jumbo shrimps stuffed with crabmeat Rockefeller stuffing of spinach and baked in a white wine mushroom butter sauce served with garlic mashed potatoes. We also shared the Fried Texas Gulf Shrimp Dinner for $17.00 which included 8 jumbo shrimps, and served with fries, cole slaw, and jalapeno hush puppies. Both dishes were very good and enough for sharing. Everything was fresh, cooked to order, had good seasoning and flavor, and tasted very good. I wish the cole slaw portion was larger than a small 20 oz souffle cup and there were more than two hush puppies. Considering the number of guests in the crowed restaurant, the service was fast and friendly. After ordering, our food was served hot and fresh within 20 minutes of ordering. We brought our concerns to management, but there really wasn't much of a response.
