Stirling's is one of my favorite places to visit when I visit Sewanee. The heated outdoor patio, with the view of the beautiful, blooming Cherry tree in the spring and the bird feeders always filled with birds is like stepping into a secret garden. The inside is a coffee shop atmosphere with plenty of tables and students busily studying. They offer coffees, sandwiches, pastries and cookies. I highly recommend their chocolate croissant. I also appreciate the Sewanee guest free wi-fi, so I can work remotely. read more

Obsessed with sterling's. If I was a student at Sewanee, I would be here all the time this coffee shop and lunch spot sells smoothies, coffee, and other drinks and great sandwiches as well as bagels. They have student art for sale inside. They have a nice front porch where people were sitting and enjoying since we were there a couple months ago on a crisp fall morning 10 out of 10 would recommend. read more

More than a coffee house, Stirling's offers a selection of breakfast items, salads, and sandwiches, along with ice cream in the cooler and fresh baked treats to have for dessert. They have a selection of cold beverages from Izze to aloe water to Yerba Mate. Enjoy your meal inside the converted house, or outside on their back porch, front yard or backyard picnic tables. Being on a college campus, the vibe is friendly, welcoming, and super casual. Even if you're not already on campus, it's worth a visit - especially if you prefer vegan food. I'm not used to having multiple options, but here vegans / plant-based eaters can choose breakfast sandwiches with vegan sausage and vegan cream cheese; vegan Mediterranean chickpea salad or sandwich, vegan chicken salad or sandwich, and more. I'm not used to being overwhelmed with vegan possibilities in rural Tennessee, but wow how refreshing! I opted for the generous vegan "chicken" salad sandwich (soy based) which came served on a fresh, crusty but soft baguette with some butter lettuce on the sandwich. So good and satisfying to get me through a hike around the domain. Yes, it's a college place. But if you happen to be driving through the area on interstate 24, it's worth the few extra miles to seek it out. And if you're a Sewanee parent, like I am, it's a nice alternative to fast food in Monteagle when you're dropping off or visiting your kid. Give your student a few extra $ to pop by here on the way to class for a coffee. I hear it's really good here too! read more

Great variety of coffee, teas, juices, and pastries. This local coffee shop is right at the corner of the University of the South. The interior is artsy, quirky, and quaint. There is a large patio for seating and picnic tables in the front yard. Service was mediocre and not overly welcoming. I always love grabbing a Natalie's Orange Juice while nearby. read more

This is a fun little coffee house on campus. We were staying at the Sewanee Inn and this little place is a short walk or drive from the Inn. The everything bagel and cream cheese was a quick pick me up in the morning. They had a large range of grab and go drinks including some Harvest Roots Elderberry kumbucha. There is a neat little reading room and an opportunity to leave quotes on the wall. Stop in if you are in town. We were there over Winter Break so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. I'm sure it cranks up when all the students are there. read more

Will not patronize again; although, treats looked tempting. Suppose if you have the day to spend on 1 meal, then this may work for you. We came here from out of town, woke up to get a nice breakfast. Ordered an Iced Matcha, it was the worst tasting watered down matcha I've ever had. (I am the GM of a coffee/donut place and we make matcha as well) I told the staff that it was watery and I'd like an iced coffee instead. They responded sorry, that's how it's made and I could buy another coffee. I didn't want a refund or anything I just wanted a drink that taste good. So I handed them the matcha I took 1 sip out of. No sorry, no refund, no new drink. I will never come back. Absolutely ridiculous. Go somewhere else, seriously. These people obviously don't know how to handle a dissatisfied guest. read more

I loved this place when I was at Sewanee. It's the perfect balance of positive, lively conversation and a place where you can focus and get to work. I write a lot of my novel here last summer. The staff is friendly, and they serve a wide variety of coffee drinks. They also have a great array of sandwiches and food. I love that they have such great hours--many times, campus coffee shops are closed when school is not in session, but this one stays open. It's a quaint, cute shop with lots of character. I just wish there was a place like this at the college that I went to! read more

I was so excited to try this place, unfortunately it was a let down. Due to Covid, you can only place orders through their app or via phone. Since I'm not from the area, I chose phone. I was told 5 mins until our drinks would be ready. When it was time, our drinks were not ready. No worries, we don't have a problem waiting a few extra mins. Well, 40 mins later and after asking the employee 3 times where our drinks were, we finally got them. However, the guy making them brought them to the window and said "Here are those 4 f*cking drinks" like it was our fault we were waiting... That's the part that really got me upset. One of the best sandwich/coffee places I think i've ever been?? Sandwich options are terrific. Fresh and simple, yet elevated to perfection. Something for everyone. I got a vanilla iced latte w oat and then later realized the specialty coffees they had to offer... Was a bit bummed I went for something so basic after seeing those recipes but when I tell you it was the best vanilla iced coffee i've ever had I am not lying. Unfortunately I do not live here but I will be dreaming of this spot & those sandwiches until we meet again read more

The location of this coffee shop is truly beautiful. The coffee is just average but I think the surroundings is worth seeing. Surrounded by old buildings (its inside the University campus ) probably dating back 18th century or so, i truly love the ambience around. However, maybe they should try cleaning the coffee shop. Hii! I love the atmosphere and vibes! I have been there so many times! I own several sweatshirts, they are the most comfy sweaters. I love the chai tea latte and croissants! It's a great place to hang out with friends. Right in the middle of the Uni. campus. You see many different people and they often like to converse with you. read more

Don't come if you're visiting. It's overpriced due to being on a college campus, and also the service reflects that fact too. The students working it has this clearly as their first job, because my coffees for my partner and I came out incorrect and they argued. read more

Stirling's is awesome. They have great hot chocolate, coffee, bagels, cookies, and snacks. It's the perfect place to sit and talk to friends, or to read a book. The porch is very inviting and comfortable. The setting could hardly be nicer on the gorgeous Sewanee campus. read more
