TL;DR - in a nutshell, Nicholas/Stitch Coterie is seriously the BEST and you will not regret engaging his services for any number of home repairs! Now for a looong overdue review with all the details of some amazing work Stitch Coterie did for us a little over a year ago. Nicholas/Stitch Coterie is by far the best contractor/plumber/repair man/company I've ever worked with! He is patient, responsive, extremely thorough, takes pride in his work and really goes above and beyond. He is an absolute gem that makes a rare effort to think outside the box with some creative problem solving which is such a huge asset when repairing and dealing with weird NYC apartment layouts in poorly constructed buildings with things incorrectly installed in odd places (lol so basically like 9 out of 10 buildings). We had called Nicholas/Stitch Coterie based on his great Yelp reviews to help us install a new dishwasher that the appliance company refused to install and just abandoned in our kitchen because the old unit was initially installed farther than normal/standard distance from the sink. Nicholas investigated, pondered over it for a few minutes, looked at what parts we already had with the new dishwasher install kit, ran to the local hardware store for us to get some additional parts, and totally made it work with an extended line. He asked us how we wanted it aligned with our cabinets, made sure everything was flush, tested everything to make sure all was working well, and even helped us clean underneath and fix a busted baseplate while he was accessing the bottom of the dishwasher. While he was onsite, I asked if he could return another time to install a new kitchen faucet for us as well and he just stayed and got that done that evening as well! The service he provided for our faucet install was even better - he was able to figure out how to bypass the solenoid piece that came with the faucet (which we didn't want to use) while tying up the wiring neatly so it wouldn't get in the way, and noticed our water pressure was too low so helped us turn it up (I never even knew my kitchen faucet spray could be that strong - it was a game changer!). He was probably at our place for about 4 hours that evening which was way beyond what we expected just so he could get everything done for us flawlessly. He was not rushed and was so patient and thorough while explaining to us each step and why/how he was doing everything so we understood the scope of work involved. A couple weeks later we called him back to help us fix a running/leaking toilet, and once again he astounded us with his awesomeness. We had a replacement toilet pump/valve part that we had gotten from Home Depot for him to use, which he saw and was like "no, no, no, this is crap, I have the manufacturer TOTO part in my truck", which he used instead of our cheap hardware attempt (lol). While installing the new OEM part he had, he discovered a really dumb plumbing line situation where our building didn't have shut off valves installed correctly in our bathroom (if I'm remembering correctly the shut off valves didn't actually shut anything off at all, and were basically useless dummy valves). At this point I know any other plumber would have thrown their hands up and been like call your building, this is fk'd but here's a charge for $200 anyways for fixing nothing - but once again, Nicholas went above and beyond down to our basement to see how our piping was run and was able to figure it out with some serious creative problem solving! He's coming back tomorrow to help us fix a leaky kitchen pipe which reminded me to post this long overdue review (better late than never - thank you Nicholas)! Bonus: he also communicates via text (super convenient), is just a really cool guy, happens to be super comfortable around animals, and your pets will love him and his chill vibes. read more

Stitch Coterie has truly impressed me with their detail-oriented approach, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality. I first brought them on board to move an electrical outlet, but as I searched for contractors for larger projects, I found out they do so much more! In just a few weeks, they've installed a kitchen faucet, removed a bathtub, put in three radiators, patched a ceiling hole so perfectly it's hard to believe there was ever an issue, and tiled a 48 sq ft wall. The tile installation was a bit tricky, but they went above and beyond, even working late on a Saturday night to get it just right. It's not every day you find contractors who are willing to put in that kind of effort! Nick really takes pride in his work. The installation of the three unique radiators was another challenge, but they handled it beautifully after some trial and error, even patching the wall and adding new trim afterwards. I also appreciate Nick's guidance--he suggested leveling the bathroom floor and was a fantastic sounding board for design decisions like tile layout, edge trim, and grout color. They're not just contractors; they're true partners who treat every project as if it were their own. I can't recommend them highly enough and can't wait to work with them on future projects! read more

Nick and his crew did a phenomenal job putting up ceiling lights in our apartment. The work included installing cord tracks in the ceiling, tracking cords inside the drywall to the outlet, and installing pendants, chandeliers and track lights in all rooms. Nick & Co. delivered a high-quality job with equal focus on aesthetics and function. Nick was super communicative throughout the whole process, and he and the electrician Alex were an absolute pleasure to work with! They truly went above and beyond to deliver a job to our desired specifications. Alex even helped assemble our chandelier! Nick carries insurance and licensing which makes him ideal for all contracting work in our condo. We have also contracted with him to install a new garbage disposal and to perform our annual HVAC service. We couldn't be more pleased with the service and outstanding work they delivered. Would give 6 stars if I could. This is company to use if you're looking for a personal and professional experience at a very reasonable price point. read more

Unfortunately this is an unprofessional company which I would not recommend. I hired Nicholas (Nick) Griffith, the owner of Stitch & Coterie, to totally renovate my 2 BR/2 bth apartment with a loft this May 2019 and I'm still waiting for him to finish the job. He has ignored all my calls and text messages since September. I had Home Depot renovate my kitchen (amazing & great price) which I totally recommend. The only thing Nick had to do in the kitchen was the backsplash and I'm still waiting. I wish I had Home Depot do my bathrooms because I already paid for the glass shower doors in both bathrooms and have not received them yet from Nick even though they were delivered to him. There are so many other things that need to be completed, but since I'm not getting a response from Nick Griffith, I'm going to probably have to hire another company to fix the mess that Nick and his company started. We hired Stitch Coterie for wall repair and painting, shelf painting, bathroom vanity replacement, and kitchen sink pipe repair for our new apartment in Brooklyn. We're very happy with their work and highly recommend them for any remodeling or repair jobs! Nick was very responsive over email and gave accurate quotes and time estimate for the tasks. He provided all the necessary insurance and other forms that our co-op required. His team worked carefully and efficiently, and also cleaned up thoroughly after leaving. When our new vanity did not fit into the plumbing setup, they were able to quickly make cuts to get it to fit. They also help to mounted a TV and mirror gratis. Nicholas Griffith of Stitch Coterie Inc came to my elderly parents apartment 5 months ago to fix 3 cabinet doors under the sink and while my dad, who's is a Parkinson's patient, fell down in the other room, called for help and my mom ran to help him, Nicholas Griffith used this time to quickly remove almost all the cabinet doors off the hinges and and disappeared! It has been 5 months and he doesn't answer any phone calls or emails. Beware of this contractor! When he talked to my parents on the phone he made everything sound easy and affordable and when he saw they both are elderly and got a chance to steal their property, he disappeared without a trace! read more
