Food and service is consistently good at this upscale steakhouse. We have been here before and it never disappoints. I celebrated both of my sons birthdays and was do happy. Highly recommend the warm butter cake.

The service was simply impeccable, the staff made you feel so at home. Eager to ensure your experience was the best it could be. Need a fun but non alcoholic beverage? Done, and with FLAIR! The appetizers were delicious, the entrees were tender and flavorful, the sides were yummy, and the desserts looked fab! Portions were generous, so of course there were take home boxes. We had a huge crowd so it's not fair to judge the space- we had both the main room and the bar reception area opened up; and the decor was perfect for business meetings or intimate dining. Thank you for a wonderful meal and your staff's impeccable service!

We love coming to Mastros to celebrate our birthdays, but this time was just a random night out to enjoy a nice dinner. Unfortunately this location does not have social hour, which has great deals on martinis. However, we still enjoyed the Cosmo and the Espresso Martini. We shared a wedge salad which the kitchen split in half for us. There was a very generous amount for both of us! We also shared an 8 oz filet which they cut into slices for us to also share. We ordered the steak rare and it came out perfect even with it continuing to cook on the hot plate. We added the garlic butter for the first time which was yummy but not needed. The creamed spinach is our favorite side dish to enjoy with the steak. We sat at the bar top here and had great service.

I'm a Yelp Elite reviewer. I don't write reviews like this lightly. But what happened here deserves to be documented. We walked in at 7:30 PM. We didn't leave until 10:30 PM. Not because we were enjoying ourselves. Because we spent the entire night chasing down our server, Elena. It started early. My friend, a Native American attorney, asked a question about the menu. Elena didn't answer her. She turned to me and asked me to explain the menu item to her. A grown, accomplished woman sitting right in front of her. That's when we realized what was happening. She assumed my friend didn't speak English because she's an older brown woman. That's not a miscommunication. That's a assumption rooted in bias. It set the tone for the entire night. We ordered Wagyu steaks. Expensive ones. Two of us ordered medium rare. One ordered medium well. We received the opposite of everything. No one came to check on us. We had to physically hunt Elena down to flag the problem. Management eventually agreed the steaks were wrong, but only replaced one at first. We had to flag him down again for the second. We told Elena at the start that food and alcohol needed to be on separate checks for business expense purposes. Simple request. She brought one combined bill. Then when she finally separated it, the comped drink that appeared on the first bill was suddenly back on the alcohol check. When we questioned it calmly and asked for the manager, she got an attitude, walked away, and stood with other staff pointing at our table. We asked for the manager twice. He never came. She grabbed my card in a rush without taking the other person's card for the separate alcohol bill. More confusion. More waiting. The food, when cooked correctly, was fine. But no steak is worth three hours of being ignored, talked about by staff, and treated like we were the problem. Elena made it clear from the first interaction that she had already decided what kind of table we were. That's not a service failure. That's a character failure. I'll be calling management tomorrow as well. This needs to be addressed.

Mastro's is, without question, my favorite restaurant in DC. It delivers the perfect trifecta: great vibes, an incredible atmosphere, and exceptional customer service, all under one roof. The menu never locks you in. Whether I'm craving steak, branzino, lamb (Cajun seasoning is the only way to get it in my opinion), or you just cocktails, there's always something calling my name. The bar area is an experience in itself; the pianist sets an energy that's hard to match anywhere else in the city. What keeps me coming back, though, is the sense of familiarity. From the person who opens the door to the staff who bring your food and drinks, these are faces I know and trust. That consistency is rare, and Mastro's delivers it every time. And if you ever see the lemon blueberry butter cake on the seasonal menu, order it! No questions asked.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted immediately. The ambulance was very dim, singer on the piano, it felt like a romantic night out. The service was impeccable the server came to assist us immediately and checked on us regularly. The steak and sides we ordered were absolutely amazing. I can't even explain how delicious the steak was it was cooked to perfection. I have nothing negative to say.

We went on a Friday night with family and had a reservation for 6pm. It was relatively quiet when we arrived, with most tables still empty, which made for a nice, relaxed atmosphere. Our server, LK, was amazing--attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. We started with the Blue Point Oysters, which were fresh and flavorful. For my entrée, I had the 8oz Filet Oscar Style, and it was absolutely delicious--cooked to perfection and so tender. We shared garlic mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts on the side, both of which were excellent. To finish off the meal, I had the warm butter cake for dessert, and it was incredible--rich, buttery, and perfectly sweet. I even took some home and can't wait to enjoy the leftovers today! Overall, a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!

This is my ultimate favorite steakhouse! I will find any reason to keep returning. The staff is efficient, kind, and well knowledgeable about the menu. The bartenders are skilled and the cocktails are great. You can buy a bottle of wine, as well as request cocktails. My Favorite items are the ribeye steak, the Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, sautéed sea scallops (appetizer), and the butter cake!! The ambiance is quiet, low lighting and relaxing. Sometimes there is a musician singing, which I truly enjoy!

Went to Mastros for a company party of sorts. It was a lovely evening with a delicious, robust meal. A few things were just a little off but otherwise a great time had by all. We led off with calamari and some other appetizers. I felt like these were the only real areas for improvement. The calamari was fine but lacked flavor on its own. This was the same with the beef carpaccio. They both just needed something more. The shrimp presented in dry ice were the largest I'd seen and flavorful and the cocktail sauce quite good. The accompanying ground horseradish was yummy and potent. The bread assortment was also quite good with the pretzel loads particularly tasty. I also had a wedge salad, which actually wasn't a wedge but it tasted quite good. Especially the blue cheese and bacon. Might have been a bit better with a little blue cheese dressing too. I ordered a filet at 8 oz and medium rare with wagyu butter. I also had the DAOU Cabernet arrive with the steak. We had a variety of sides with mashed potatoes, lobster mashed potatoes - which I'm generally opposed to because it usually lacks lobster. This actually has a good bit of lobster but it felt a little overdone. We also got some asparagus and broccolini. They were fine but ordinary. The steak was perfectly cooked temperature-wise. I usually prefer a ribeye but I wasn't going to tackle a 22 bone-in cut. I wish there was a smaller option. The wagyu butter sadly melted completely on the scalding platter. It tasted great. I wish I had salt later and a fellow diner agreed. We were headed towards full already when the butter cakes arrived with ice cream and whipped cream. The butter cake was delicious and some complimentary chocolate layer cakes were fine for coworkers celebrating milestones. I feel the butter cake was just short of another local steakhouse but it was a close, close race. Service throughout was attentive, quick and professional. It was as one would expect from a classic steakhouse. We also appreciated the live singer/pianist in the bar. I don't think my peers had any complaints. It was a very good evening and dinner. My tiny concerns were marginal but separated it from some of the better/best steakhouse dinners I've had. A 4.7 score rounds to a 5.

This is my first time back in 3 years. And everything was spectacular. Atmosphere so cozy and romantic. Dark lighting. Music in the background. Great staff. Friendly bartenders. Food amazing. Got Mastros salad. It has shrimp on it. Very delicious. Also wedge salad. Great. But it comes already cut up. Mac and cheese was sooo good. Beef carpaccio huge place with side salad. I really liked it. Drinks on point. Will return. They offer valet parking and bar has live piano with singer. Check out the menu and give it a go.

This was probably thee best steakhouse I've been too. Our server Colin was attentive, informative and uber friendly. The steak was perfect and if I could have the oysters shipped, I'd eat them over a month. Pittsburgh needs a Mastro's. I will travel just to go back to this place. We were there on a Sunday and the noise level was not horrible but it was enough that you could not hear the singer that was doing light jazz/music. All and all 10/10

Mastro's never disappoints. It's my favorite steak house in DC. As soon as I walked in I was greeted my the hostess who was very friendly. I arrived a little early so the table wasn't ready yet but it did not take long for us to be seated. The ambiance was nice as always. They offered entertainment which included a singer on the piano which was delightful. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. She made sure that we had everything we needed. I like Mastros because their service is impeccable. They make sure that our glasses are always full and they serve us family style. I ordered the bone in filet with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. The steak was cooked to perfection and well seasoned and scorching hot. The potatoes and spinach were delicious as well. It was a great experience. I 100% recommend.

Ask the Community - Mastro's Steakhouse

Does Mastros offer parking or valet services?

Yes, they have valet right in front !

Do they have live music on Friday night?

Most nights they have live music.

Can you place a takeout order over the phone?

    How is the outdoor dining?

    No. It's just inside

    Are they child friendly?

    No.

    Do you need reservations?

Not required but I'd suggest it unless you want to eat in the bar.

Does this go by plate or by person? Also how much for an average night?

Mastro's can be quite expensive. It's a la carte style so you order your protein (meat, seafood or poultry) and your sides seperate. Your protein can go from $30- $200 and the sides are $13- $30. If you get a large steak you could split it and each…

Do they have happy hour specials?

    Unfortunately, No!

Before getting to the food, I'll first rate the interior excellent. It's big and open, and has a modern yet rustic design, which makes it an excellent atmosphere. They had an impressive list of wines and cocktails, but the draft beer selection was limited. Could use a bit more variety on tap, but I enjoyed the Imperial IPA nonetheless. As for the food; all of it was on the pricey sized given the quality and quantity served, but the salmon collar was by far my favorite -- followed by the chicken, although the chicken was a bit less meaty than I expected. The gem salad, the carrots and the steak fries were all very "meh," and the bisques seemed like small ciabatta buns rather than actual biscuits. All that aside, the biggest disappointment was unfortunately the ax ribeye - it wasn't cooked properly (despite asking for med-rate, depending on the bite, it ranged from medium to very rare), and it was really stringy and fatty - a major disappointment for a steakhouse. Deserts were delicious, I really enjoyed the ice cream cake and thought the peanut butter pie was good. Service was great, prompt and friendly. So I definitely wouldn't recommend this place as a statehouse based on my experience, but would consider coming for the salmon.

I originally booked Omakase room by Tadayoshi for August 15th dinner at 5:30. My husband wanted to try this Omakase place for a while and I thought the day was perfect for it. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed and I was taken by surprise as I didn't have any alternative plans or reservations. We first spoke with General manager at Boucherie and she kindly offered us to take a look at the menu and see if we wanted to dine there instead. I was very upset that the planned and anticipated reservation didn't work out. I said yes at first because I didn't know what else to do but we got an amazing server Revo who lightened the mood and Manager Michael was very kind to us and understanding. While dinner started not on a great note, it ended up the best outcome we could have had. Everyone we interacted with was kind and great. I would love to come back again but now specifically for Boucherie and in a much better mood. I totally understand that reservation issue is not Boucherie's responsibility and I still don't know how this all happened. But we hey made our anniversary dinner a fanatic experience. Many thanks to them and also to the sommelier. Wine list was great and we received great recommendations. We arrived at 7:45 on a Saturday night to see if there was room for two or at least room at the bar. I wish the hostess had told us that we could wait at the bar for a table to open up, as we saw that's what many other patrons did, but she told us there was bar seating and high tops and so my husband and I went on up. We easily had our choice of two seats at the bar or a high top, and we selected a high top. After 5 minutes of no one acknowledging us, my husband and I told each other we would wait two more minutes before we would bail. Right as we were about to jump ship, a server came by and asked if we wanted menus. We said sure but it was just strange that no one greeted us, it was just "you want menus?" Lol. Another server brought us menus and asked if we would like water and a breadbasket. We said yes and after about 15 minutes, bread arrived. We chatted with the server about what drinks we should order; I ordered a French 75 and my husband ordered a special Sazerac. We also ordered the tuna carpoacio. After about 10 minutes, the server came back and to confirm if I wanted the soft side cocktail and if my husband wanted an old fashioned. We said we did not and corrected him. Then, a server tried to give our drinks to the table next to us and our server corrected him and brought steak tartare. And then he goes "oh wait, did you order this?" We said no and he asked if we wanted it because if not he had to throw it away lol. And then 5 seconds later, the tuna came. Both the tuna carpaccio and the steak tartare were delicious. But this was the entire evening: we ordered something, something else came. I ordered a glass of sparkling rose, and an espresso martini appeared on the house. We had to ask for our bill twice and when we got our bill, it was definitely someone else's. Finally, as we were preparing to go, the original server comes back and goes "here's your espresso martini." Like bro we asked you originally for the check and we are clearly leaving. Luckily, my husband and I had plenty of time before our show, it was a great atmosphere, and the food was super delicious. It was just such a comically bizarre experience and I feel like they are definitely losing money. I think we paid for half of what we ate and drank and probably ate and drank other people's food! Maybe we will go back? Maybe not lol

There's street parking and I believe valet but we found street parking fairly easily on a weekday. The ambiance is dim lit. Service was very attentive and seemed to pay attention to detail, announcing confirmations of no allergens within each dish brought to the table. Our water was filled regularly, suggestions were readily available to the many questions we had. I also thought it was a nice touch that your bagged items are taken off table and you are given a ticket without awkwardly taking up space while you maybe were still chatting or enjoying an after dinner drink or dessert. Quality of food was nice, can't recall the type of steak my brother tried I went with a ribeye and tried the octopus appetizer which was very tender. We also enjoyed the Brussels sprouts and whipped mash. Was definitely a meal that could easily be shared between 2-3 people.

We've enjoyed several excellent steakhouses, including Mastro's, The Capital Grille, and Bouboulina. Bouboulina was great, although expensive, and The Capital Grille remains a favorite. But Bourbon Steak truly impressed us--the food and service were outstanding! Bourbon Steak is our new go-to for a special evening. We're already looking forward to coming back! My birthday! Don Yee

I did wish they gave a little more time between the bread/salad course and the main course, since I didn't have enough time to finish my salad. The sauce is delicious and the fries were nice and crispy. Wish dessert came with the meal for that price. The steak is definitely very low quality -- there were so many pieces that were too tough for me to even cut, let alone eat. Since they give you an extra serving, I had enough steak to eat, but it just felt like such a waste to have this giant pile of inedible steak on my plate. There was probably 3/4 of a serving of steak that wasn't so tough it was inedible, so might not have been enough of a serving for others.

It was really hard to flag them down for refills, etc. Medium Rare is a great brunch spot for the spring/summer time! Their outdoor patio is my favorite spot to be seated albeit they pack the tables like sardines. The steak frites with the peppercorn sauce is a must try. I'm not even a steak person, but as a saucy person, I love for this meal. The French toast is also crispy on the outside, yet soft and moist internally. It's the perfect balance of textures.

I started at the bar while awaiting the rest of my party. I enjoyed a glass of brut rose and complimentary popcorn. The popcorn is nothing short of amazing! The bar staff couldn't be friendlier and accommodating. When transitioning to dinner, I left to an intimate environment where our server was attentive and humorous. I ordered the Lobster Linguine, perfectly seasoned and flavorful. Goodness! I then indulged in an espresso martini which rounded out the perfect dinner. I cannot wait to return.

I had an opportunity to introduce some and reacquaint others with why OCEAN PRIME is one of the best restaurants for service, food, and cocktails. When we arrived, not only did we have an amazing greeting from staff who gave us every impression that we were the most important people in the restaurant. Our server was beyond top-notch. Tiana set the standard for how a server should engage thoughtfully and helpfully. We had the iconic berries and bubbles, black, orchid cocktails, glasses of wine, and, of course, the goat cheese ravioli. For main entrées, we had an amazing special of lobster and scallop risotto, and Ribeye steaks, both Oscar-style and plain. Our side items were the jalapeño, gratin, potatoes, lobster, mac & cheese, brussels sprouts, and broccoli. The pace of service was perfect. We had plenty of time to enjoy the cocktails, appetizers, and dinner. The food came out extremely well seasoned, hot, and to everyone's liking. The general manager, Tim, took time to come by the table to make sure everything was going well and really put the icing on the cake by ensuring our entire experience lived up to the Cameron Mitchell brand. Truly, a night to remember
